psihotoc thanks for bringing this up as well. We've received a few reports about an issue with our Windows wallet.

To be safe, we will be removing it for now to inspect the issue. Both Linux and OSX wallets are safe to download and Windows will be back up shortly.

2l84aa Education is important globally and blockchain technology (especially the AC blockchain) will help improve how people learn online by an order of magnitude.

Are those false positives? They don't seem all over the place, they might not be false positives.

Actually they might be false positives because the only serious antivirus out of those is Kaspersky...

Most of them look like false positives but we are getting the team to look into the matter before we put the link to the Windows Wallet back on this announcement.  Guessing you are getting the wallet via our Website link, from which we haven't removed the link yet.  I will advise the team to get that resolved as well while we wait for the ok to go ahead and roll out the Windows Wallet.

You're right... urgent answer on this one AcademyCoin team? I've installed the wallet, I want to be assured that I'm safe.

I think not many education related projects at the moment. In future with idea education powered by blockchain and difference should be in AcademyCoin developer's technology, this project will get great success.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention again. When this report was first brought up we removed the wallet from the post and contacted an external security team for a full security audit on the Windows wallet to make sure everything was safe.

They ran a full audit and reported those are false positives.

The Windows wallet, OSX wallet, and Linux wallet are all safe to download and are available on the homepage again.

As mentioned previously, we removed the windows wallet from the post when this was brought up the first time. Our team had a security team perform a full security audit on the Windows wallet to make sure everything was safe.

They ran a full security audit and reported those are false positives. This apparently happens often with wallets depending on the antivirus software used. 

OSX, Linux, and Windows are all safe for download.

Maybe you should email the antivirus companies that make those products and try to solve it with them. It's quite unacceptable to get false positives in a software product with this target market. Because it's one of the most attacked target markets out there, by hackers.

To clarify, we launched with educators accepting ACAD for courses in programming, design, and digital marketing. Any online educator is welcome to download our wallet and begin accepting ACAD for their courses, we just launched our network with educators teaching those subjects

In the next 3 months, we are releasing some exciting features (beyond payments) which will attract educators in many different subjects.

Maybe you should do a buyback thingy in the first year, to encourage students to get their courses through this. Like Byteball is doing for merchants. I say this because it seems like one of the more difficult parts.

Good question. When ACAD is listed on exchanges in December the value of tokens will increase similar to other cryptocurrencies. Students will not pay more, the amount of ACAD tokens needed to pay for courses will just decrease.

Example:
December 2017 you pay 100 ACAD to learn digital marketing from an online course  
December 2018 you pay 25 ACAD to learn from the same course

A very interesting idea! And I would even say a very good intention. But the question is, are the students aware of crypto to this extent? And will they use it?

a very interesting concept for teenagers, highly qualified work and I have to keep in my memory for me to teach to teenagers who want to know about this.

We will only be accepting digital currencies (BTC, ETH, etc.) in exchange for ACAD tokens. Given payments are just the first feature to the AC blockchain, ACAD tokens are all that is needed to cover payments.

The AC blockchain will be multi-purpose and will supercharge educator's abilities for online learning.

How confident are you that you can follow that roadmap?

Having spent two years building the community to launch the AC blockchain our roadmap is strategically timed. We are very confident that we'll accomplish the roadmap listed on our whitepaper and 18 months after that.

I think you can pay with BTC or ETH, but there is just another step in the process involved where your money gets converted into ACAD. Is that correct?

To clarify, payments are just the first feature to the AC blockchain. We have multiple features including "Proof of Creation" launching in the coming months. Payments are a great first step for a new multi-purpose blockchain.

For payments we have fully functional wallets on OSX, Linux, and windows

How many people work on this project part time or full time?

The thing is people love it to be as easy as possible. If a process involves a step too many, they might not use your service. The exchange from BTC to ACAD is mandatory, but does not happen automatically right? Some might not like that.

To start, ACAD will be able to be purchased with any of the top 100 cryptocurrencies

On a couple of the exchangess ACAD will be listed on some fiat currency will be accepted

It's important to add that payments are first. POC and a dozen other features are in development for content creators

Everyone is working of 40-60 hours per week on the AC blockchain features.

We've been working on the community for 2 years now and developing AcademyCoin for a little over 6-months now

We have seen a few awesome education companies launch courses and learning materials who would highly benefit from he AC blockchain. In our opinion, there needs to be more education focused companies in the space.

Great suggestion okspam! We've had multiple video creators that teach students new languages inquire about accepting ACAD. A big goal of the ACAD Token is to allow online creators and educators to accept payments regardless of their platform.

Youtube, Udemy, Coursera, Google Hangout, and Bloggers have been our biggest platforms for creators so far. New creators on different platforms have been reaching out daily!

It would be a lot easier to allow them to use preexisting platforms, and just handle the transactions, but I think there could be more money to be made by providing the environment also. Once you've gained trust of those in the field, have a membership fee setup and give them a 'virtual classroom' for a flat monthly rate. Anyway, just a crazy idea of mine.

A large majority of false positives have a lot to do with the software used to test. We recognize that all the previous comments having to do with the tests are using the exact same software. Our security team dug deeper into the cases and additionally alerted us that a few of the accounts commenting traced back to a malicious “coin destroying group”

false positive reports in the Windows Wallet is not good. i have a really bad experience.
Progression is always good but sometimes takes a lot of time.
Keep it up and you will get it there.
I will keep an eye out for this one.

Yes, all 3 wallets are safe. The tests for windows are false positives. Regardless we continue to monitor any reported issues about wallets, given our emphasis on safety.

Nice and simple campaign, I like it.

Everything with be open sourced in December when we list on the exchange.

Given the level of demand and our experience with airdrops, signatures, and bounty programs, we wanted to keep it simple.

Makes it easier to set up, and the important part is easier to keep track. I see some pretty elaborate campaigns sometimes, and the guy running them just tends to get overwhelmed trying to keep track of it all. Sometimes even just giving up in my experience. Got messed over a couple times now because of it.

That has happened to people on our team as well. Keeping bounty programs simple is both fast and effective

A false positive really isn't a big deal. I get it on completely benign programs fairly regularly.

Hey! I am curious, why teachers and students from Udemy, Coursera, and other services will switch to the ACAD?
Teachers on those resources are paid (depends on how many students bought the course), there are fees, but these fees solve problems of safeness from copy and hacking, marketing - the platforms do it for the teachers. Every student knows where he/she can search and find a needed course. And we need to take into account, that to change the habits (studying at Udemy, Coursera is already a convenient habit) it is not enough for the product just to be better than competitors.

I am a bit surprised that you say that. Have you been following the thread over a longer period of time? They answer EVERY single question in detail. Their communication is superb in my eyes. Not sure why you think differently.
