Africa is covered by demand for crypto-currencies !!!

Now Bitkoin.Africa allows customers from all African countries to buy bitcoins, quickly and without problems.
Nigeria became the first country to exchange P2P digital assets, seeking to facilitate access to bitcoin throughout the African region.
Bitkoin.Africa was launched by a team of Nigerian developers on October 1
Have a nice day, everyone! ;)

What kind of domain is Bitkoin.Africa? Can`t they buy a normal .com domain? This will look more legit and build more trust. We all need more bitcoin mass adoption in the african countries, but this will happen only if they have a better economic growth and produce more electricity.Nigerian scammers are famous around the world, but i`ve had good experience with cryptocurrency traders from Nigeria. They have always been honest with me.

Only 1 guy selling BitKoins..?

Its a good initiative and African people are getting aware of the Bitcoins and its advantages. But p2p trading is still risky, would want to see what they offer in terms of security in between transactions.

Guess Africa don't wanna be left behind. Many big countries adopted this technology. If African countries are going to adopt this technology. Why not? I heard bitcoin in Nigeria is very popular. Then i searched google about this. Over 100,000 merchants are now accepting bitcoin as mode of payment. They are really relying on bitcoin since it's the fastest and yet affordable way for sending money. http://www.oyibosonline.com/over-100000-merchants-in-nigeria-now-accept-bitcoin-payments/
Also it can change their lives because bitcoin is not just a tool for money transferring but also a good form of investment. Most African countries are suffering because of poverty. Maybe it can be a way to make their lives comfortable.

I have got to know that many Nigerians are trying to scam people by selling Bitcoins at very cheap rate and exchanging them for some coins.
No offense against any people but this is just what I heard from other people. I have personally seen some messages where they were selling Bitcoins for cheaper rates. I don't know about Bitkoin.africa but you should all stay safe from such people.

Not only in Africa bitcoin is gaining momentum everywhere in the world. Still I think Crypto currency market is in the initial stages , only few people in the world know about it. So the demand of bitcoin will go higher and higher day by day, as new people connecting everyday.

I can say this is absolutely irrelevant to most of the Africain countries even though they claim otherwise, the currencies are only displayed in NGN, a verification process is needed and BVN is required which is a scheme introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the site have both buying and selling listings from the same person (only one) so I don't really see how there is much demand or how this exchange is meant to be for Africa If they only support Nigeria.

Bitcoin (Cryptocurrency)in Nigeria is still a mirage. There are a lot of skepticism among Nigerians on using bitcoins and cryptocurrencies in general due to the recent wave of bitcoin related Ponzi schemes that swept the country in the past few months with a lot of folks losing their cash. Well that's what you get for being greedy. There is also another scam coin called THE Billion coin (TBC) which has a similar initials to bitcoin (BTC) hence people get apprehensive when Bitcoin is mentioned.

On the other hand, there is a growing number of (smart) Nigerians who are aware and have adopted bitcoin and making profits.

The currencies are displayed in NGN because the initiator had only Nigerians in mind and was still dumb enough to pick a domain name extension with afrika. It's like someone thinking big but acting small .I have also been to the site, it looks like the regular Nigerian bitcoin exchange site, nothing special, with the addition of BVN as an extra security feature.

This is a welcoming news and it just shows that bitcoin is really hard to stop right now and that's why a lot of nation is talking about it recently. But I would just like to question if Africa is really prepared for this tsunami? Have they setup their infrastructure already? Internet and Electricity is there? Because if majority of Africa has so many problems that they are facing then how they gonna adopt bitcoin? They should priority like food, shelter and water before bitcoin can really be useful in the whole of Africa. IMHO. So I'm still a little skeptics that the continent can adopt it immediately.

The bitcoin will be a huge help for the country of Africa because it will open a lot of opportunities for the african people to earn money through bitcoin and if bitcoin will be good to their country then it will start to clear the poverty in that country because it has a lot of opportunities that is just waiting for the people to grab in order to change their lives.

This is a good news on African region. And it's good to know that there are Nigerian developers that are into bitcoin I know it will not be an easy challenge to them there since the community there is not believing on bitcoin. But this is just the start of it, after raising the awareness about bitcoin in that place then many will start to get into bitcoin and it will reflect to the demand of bitcoin in that region.

I am in African and most Africans are not saving their bitcoins so that they could profit when the profit jumps, they are rather using it to purchase goods and commodities online since they can't do it with credit card due to most online stores not accepting orders from Africa due to fraudulent activities. When buying with bitcoins the orders will not flagged as fraudulent irrespective of one's location.

I think so Bitcoin is gaining momentum in Africa yesss
Is that your way of showing to the world that you are too dumb to write a post and all you can do is copy the topic?

The problem with cryptos in Africa is that there's not much Internet coverage in there, even cell phone reception is very limited. This will make us wait years before it becomes a real market for cryptocurrencies.

Developments that I know come from cryptogenie projects that focus on the African continent, I hope will encourage great development because of the many problems of poverty that must be solved better.

People in Africa also make use of phone credit to make small payments to each other locally and if they want to send or receive money from family oversees they usually have to wait hours in the line at bank or Western Union.

No wonder that they're also turning to Bitcoin, when they get more and more access to the internet at remoter places, Bitcoin will certainly become even bigger there.

People in Africa will surely be a great opportunist in bitcoin because that is the first step to promote bitcoin, is to make an exchange of bitcoin and if the people in Africa will realized that bitcoin is a great opportunity to take then they will surely work hard on it and they will earn bitcoin and use it to their will and they will have a fortune because of bitcoin and that is for sure.

Has Africa always had an "expanding demand" for Bitcoin? I could have sworn that a decent portion of the posts that I had seen back in 2014-2015 were about Africa suddenly having a massive demand for Bitcoin, or asking how Bitcoin could be spread within Africa, etc. This doesn't seem like anything that is newsworthy to me, really. They seem to have been doing this for a long time and I would have been more surprised if there wasn't someone who was developing things within Africa.

Yes, there's a bigger presence of Bitcoin in South Africa and Nigeria. Kenya is emerging as well due to recent history.

You can see the growing demand by country from localbitcoins trades here, the growth is staggering (scroll down to see all the individual countries:
https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins (https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins)

Adoption of electronic-remittance has been great in many places in Africa! Primarily from the widespread use of cell phones with internet connectivity.

What would serve the people of Africa the best would be to use the real Bitcoin as it the most secure and best store of value. Any other 'blockchain' is essentially a scamchain. The greatest use-case for Africans would be obtaining Bitcoin as a long-term savings mechanism and secondary use as a cheap means of transfer for cross-border remittances. Bitcoin is the best tool to break away from central-bank financial bondage.

Has everyone known about the widespread use of cellphone remittance in Kenya (other parts of Africa) and attempts to centralize and control, shutdown competition?
Not too long ago - the debacle of Safaricom Mpesa and Bitcoin;
https://www.kenyainsights.com/revealed-how-a-worried-safaricom-used-backdoor-to-shutdown-bitcoin-which-was-set-to-neutralize-mpesa-dominance-in-kenya/ (https://www.kenyainsights.com/revealed-how-a-worried-safaricom-used-backdoor-to-shutdown-bitcoin-which-was-set-to-neutralize-mpesa-dominance-in-kenya/)

Not just in Africa, Fiat around the world is heavily infested, broken, and burdened with:
-regulatory burden on fiat banks & system (incredibly costly)
-insurance fraud
-false claims and insurance losses
-unemployment & other welfare costs
-inflating fiat to keep stock market rising and to keep house-prices from collapsing
-financing conflicts, bombs, and "aid"
-stabilize regions after natural disasters
-keeping monopolies with internet access centralized and search engine crawlers centralized
-money laundering
-chargebacks
-frivolous legal costs (lawsuits bogging the system down)
-state-sponsored corruption and unofficial corruption (governments and gangs, banks and conartists)
-retirement obligations (debasement in value to keep up with payments from government or other retirement-obligations)
-fake credit (goods being transacted with credit-loss, replaced by inflation of monetary base rather than bringing perpetrators & source to justice)

Bitcoin, systemically, is free from these burdens.

Bitcoin CANNOT be controlled.
Bitcoin cannot be made legal. Governments may still attempt to do so.
Bitcoin cannot be made illegal. Governments may still attempt to do so.

Efforts by any country's central bank or government to regulate bitcoin will accelerate that country's demise of fiat value. These costs of such attempts and many other costs are absorbed by monetary inflation - making fiat even more worthless over time. Fiat system has been broken for decades. Bitcoin however had reached escape velocity globally 4-years ago in 2013 thus will continue to rise & be adopted as it is the only escape from financial slavery and an opt-out of war-making, slave-labor producing central bank regimes.

Well, we need to make sure that the electricity supply is reliable. If power is available only for 10-12 hours a day, then the miners will have to arrange for their own power supply, which can be quite expensive. Or they may be forced to shut down their rigs for an extended duration, which can also cause a hole in the pocket for them.

We are all aware already that even their is a strong opposition by the government, the growth can be achieved. Bitcoin is unstoppable and really gaining wider acceptance. I do hope that Africa is the next continent that will take advantage of bitcoin. I'm seeing that if this is successful, there is a chance that the continent would at least alleviate the economic and financial aspect of the population. It shows the history of the central bank and Mpesa using coercion and illegal practices to shutdown competition and to subvert bitpesa from spreading.

Educating and counter-action should be taken against the individuals acting in such disregard. Their names should be available easily, these are those serving as the Board of Directors for any of the entities.

Well that good to know and aomething to look forward to. It also proves that Bitcoin is getting more popular to more countries and people and will also positively affect its market value since the demand will continue increasing. Hoping that in the future, it will be legal to more countries and will be used by more people as a currency.
I think not only the Africa but all the well developed countries are trying to give the large profits to the citizens. It is the need of the time because all the things in the Africa and the countries like this are making the crypto currency more and more popular to increase the profit of the country because it is good for the both the country and the users.

Long back itself bitcoin has gained more momentum in Africa. This happened when few scam MLM's used it as an source to reach the user base. This further gained more support from the countrymen even after strong opposition arose from the government. So at present it might be gaining more momentum as the growth is happening potentially.

Maybe 2-5 years from now, Africa will be very different because of bitcoin.

That would be good news to look forward to....a changed peoples in Africa, where her people sought and gained financial independence to better themselves.

i think this move is very risky, given the fact that most countries in africa do not have access to internet, there are few countries in africa that have access to to internet and those countries still do not have good internet connection and if they do, they have a conflict in their country, if we check on those progressive countries in africa, namely south africa and egypt, they have been developed because of colonization and those who are rich are still those had colonized them, the technology that they have, possibly will just give more income to the the rich people and not to the native africans. though this is good news, i think they all should first give financial education to all their people, since investing is really hard if we do not study it and understand it, and even more if you invest in bitcoin, since it is something intangible, a lot of people in africa may invest on bitcoin, but how sure are they that they will not loose, the first thing they should have done, it information dissemination and then introducing bitcoin to them. still this is good news to our community, however we need need to be cautious, since this might be a new thing to them, knowing that most fiat currencies in africa is becoming more and more devalued overtime and it is not a shock that people will turn to bitcoin if their fiat becomes obsolete. we also need to understand that africa will might soon hold the biggest percentage of bitcoin users, we need to check all of their movements.

No. Wrong.

There is not more and more countries accepting it.

There are more and more governments rejecting it.

But there are many many peoples of the world in almost all the countries still seeking it, buying and investing in it despite everything.

The fiat currency global system is a debt-based conflict-funding system that wants to keep its monopoly (by the central banks).

Central banks controls the governments in each country.

Central banks control and have a MONOPOLY on credit/currency issuance in each country.

Additionally Central banks control the media in every region. Thus will TRY to influence opinion on things like bitcoin.

They will not allow competition and they've even banned bitcoin worldwide since 2013 training tellers to block/stop transactions if "bitcoin" is mentioned.

Four full years and the powerful central banks have been rendered POWERLESS TO BITCOIN'S decentralized strength.
Bitcoin keeps growing and growing in every country.

The people around the world are becoming too smart in seeing through the fiat currency schemes.

And it has become clear that...
Bitcoin CANNOT be controlled.

Bitcoin cannot be made legal. Governments may still attempt to do so. They can never have such domination on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin cannot be made illegal. Governments may still attempt to do so.

Bitcoin is GLOBALLY held and sought after by people in almost every country - see global trade data by country or see this list:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1834310.20 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1834310.20)

Bitcoin has the highest value because of the totality of what it is - if it lacked the features of what it is, then there would be no value.

If it can be shutdown, and have assets frozen by a bank or government, there would be no value
If it wasn't secure, there would be no value.
If it wasn't immutable, there would be no value.
If it wasn't globally distributed, there would be no value.
If it wasn't so strong, open-source decentralized and unstoppable, there would be no value.
If it wasn't so scarce, there would be no value.
If it was easy to spam transactions, there would be no value
If it didn't have the history of 8+ years (and still no hacker can exploit bitcoin blockchain), there would be no value
If it was exactly like fiat and only did transactions, there would be no value.

Bitcoin has all these together to make the most value and increasing more than any other financial-asset option coming from the fiat central-banking debt-system.

Though it is still very early adoption not even 1% adopted yet (most people everywhere don't know what it is)...
Bitcoin has freed, continuing to free, and tomorrow will still free many people globally from the centrally controlled debt-based fiat system that confiscates your wealth with inflation and tax. Bitcoin is a TRUE savings vehicle. Buying Real Estate, Hospital healthcare, Global traveling, College Education gets cheaper as you hold Bitcoin.

Central banks already control and manipulate Stocks, Real Estate, Gold, Interest Rates. Central banks will never have such domination on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin reached escape velocity 4-years ago in 2013 which means it cannot be stopped - cannot make it illegal or legal - governments/banks do not matter.

On the opposite end of the spectrum the global fiat (US Dollars, Indian Rupees, Chinese Yuan, etc) bubble system broke a couple of decades ago.

Fiat around the world is forced to inflate issuance as its heavily infested, burdened and broken with:
-regulatory burden on fiat banks & system (incredibly costly)
-unemployment & other welfare costs
-inflating fiat to keep stock market rising and to keep house-prices from collapsing
-financing conflicts, bombs, and "aid"
-insurance fraud
-false claims and insurance loss-events
-stabilize regions after natural disasters
-keeping monopolies with internet access centralized and search engine crawlers centralized
-money laundering
-chargebacks
-frivolous legal costs (lawsuits bogging the system down)
-state-sponsored corruption and unofficial corruption (governments and gangs, banks and conartists)
-retirement obligations (debasement in value to keep up with payments from government or other retirement-obligations)
-fake credit (goods being transacted with credit-loss, replaced by inflation of monetary base rather than bringing perpetrators & source to justice)
-using enforcement labor to freeze accounts and assets and take away your money
-costs of auditors and budgetors and accountants to governments and businesses

Bitcoin, systemically, is free from these burdens.

Be wary of things outside of bitcoin especially when other things start throwing around the word 'blockchain'.
A non-decentralized "Blockchain" is a private database....Private databases has virtually no value!

BLOCKCHAIN without bitcoin = SCAMCHAINS, useless unsecure private databases
BLOCKCHAINS without bitcoin ARE SIMPLY PRIVATE DATABASES that every small business has even a coffee shop = NO VALUE, its like fiat currency, small minimal value!

BITCOIN BLOCKHAIN = SECURE IMMUTABLE VALUABLE OPEN-SOURCE DECENTRALIZED FAIR (scarce bitcoin supply). Globally people poured over $80Billion (USD) equivelent value into bitcoin and this will increase with time.

Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency have wide scope in African countries. Due to long lasting civil wars their economies are devastated.Developing economies are allowing trading in bitcoins. In South Africa, cryptocurrencies are becoming particularly popular. BitPesa, Bitfinance are gaining some popularity. In Nigeria, Zimbabwe local traders and activists believe this new money as better alternative for their collapsed economy. But remote areas have problems like connectivity, electricity etc. Bitcoin related activities will help to generate jobs in these countries. If these basic infrastructure get restored these currencies can help to improve economic status of these countries.

that was simplistic, LOL, but accurate. it wasnt so much that Africa is reluctant about bitcoin, no more so than any other country (in fact they would most likely be the most receptive to cryptos, given the state of the governments. it is more that they already had perfectly good system in place that had became popular, the m pesa. Pretty low fees, good as cash and more popular than fiat in some places.  and this is some of the reason bitcoin hasnt caught on like it should; m pesa and related industries have been lobbying and legislating against it, to ensure they retain the same market share  ;D

It'll help them get favorable exchange rates if they need to buy anything using USD again. Bitcoin is becoming the world's 'gold standard'....currently somewhere around 1% adoption. we can see 2% adoption in a couple of years, and probably 5% world adoption in five years.
Anything above 5% = mainstream.

Its actually great to see that bitcoin has already started expanding even in the African countries, which is good in my opinion, in the sense that bitcoin will gain more recognition and popularity within those African countries. This might result in the value of bitcoin skyrocketing to new highs since demand will be increasing than the circulating supply.

I'm from Algeria and I can say this is absolutely irrelevant to most of the Africain countries even though they claim otherwise, the currencies are only displayed in NGN, a verification process is needed and BVN is required which is a scheme introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria, the site have both buying and selling listings from the same person (only one) so I don't really see how there is much demand or how this exchange is meant to be for Africa If they only support Nigeria.
I expect you should first and foremost be excited that a brother have taken a bold step to fly the flag of Bitcoin somewhere in Africa and I also expected you to be in a position to make concrete suggestions or constructive criticism to show that the adoption of Bitcoin (cryptocurrency) across Africa matters much to you and not to write him off. I must say here, that nothing will change in Africa, until African become the change they want. Learn to stand up for a brother, no one else in the world would do it for you and every well established venture today didn't start half as sound! Here's the first Rolls Royce, I hope it says something to you!

You do not have a proof for that, yet you've gone ahead to propagate it! And if at all, that's going on, the greedy fools and accomplices that patronizes them should have their heads examined!

Africa's one and major problem is its mostly egocentric and stone age rulers, take them aside and Africa would know its best days. Interestingly, Bitcoin is such a solution provider! I think the present generation of Africans ought now to break the jinx by starting to think outside the box - waiting for their governments to generate power or provide infrastructures or food is surely a forlorn hope. By embracing Bitcoin, they can afford the best and latest technologies like green power and with reverse engineering at work, not reinvention of the wheels, things will definitely start to fall into place!

Bitcoin could lead to a new economic revolution in Africa, because there are a lot of reasons people use btc instead of there national currencies.
one of the best example is driven by Zimbabwe https://news.bitcoin.com/after-mugabe-zimbabwe-pushes-bitcoin-to-17875/
where each btc is traded more than 60% in the rest of the world. Maybe next satoshi will be a citizen from an african country :)

Zimbabwe is one of the countries that using bitcoin more often that their national currency because of the more potential of bitcoin rather than their sinking currency. If bitcoin will be 100% implemented in Zimbabwe, i think that their country can be saved by just working and saving bitcoin.

Hhahahahha, Really?

Zimbabwe, one of the poorest country in the world is using bitcoin more than it's own currency.
Let me ask you this:

1. With 16 million people, how do they manage to get their turn having a confirmed tx with 400k daily worldwide transactions?
2. How can the world poorest afford to pay what is now an average fee of 7$ to buy food?

The average worker (!!!!) , the guy that has a job (only 30% of the population does), is making only enough to pay a tx a day.

Get real and stop with the unicorns.

You are right. But BTC is one of working money saving methods for local community, isn't it? Zimbabwe currency is more volatile than bitcoin price, so the local middle class, if we can call it so, can hold money in cryptocurrencies.

Hi there 999sever666! Its good to hear that Africa is going with the trend of cryptocurrency. The good thing about the whole blockchain technology is its broad user spectrum. Anyone on the earth with a good internet connection could hop in and join in the cryptocurrency era. And that good thing with Africa is its power to invent new strategies to be famous in the world and that P2P digital assets exchange is one example of its. I hope that there are more country that will follow the initiative done by the said country.

Yes,i think bitcoins would be more helpful for the people of most african countries who suffer from poverty.Kenya is the first african country to adopt bitcoin mostly. At irst, bitpesa was started in 2013 which provided a platform between african countries and other world countries to make the payments in bitcoin which made the transaction fee to get reduced to almost 50%.Nigeria,ghana and south africa are the other nations which provide friendly environment to bitcoin.Bitkoin.Africa at first allowed nigerians to buy and sell bitcoins P2P but now,it allows almost all african nationalsto do so.

Rather than for poverty, long back itself people started to use bitcoin for the purpose of business transactions die to the low currency value of the countries around Africa. At some point even after restrictions from government, people continued to use the same, which shows the positive impact they have got over bitcoin.

I believe Bitcoin was intended to spread the wealth.  Decentralization is the keyword here.  To read about Bitcoin being adopted in poor economies is heartwarming.  To allow countries that have been exploited and or deserted by centralized authorities to have an equal footing in the global economy really makes me optimistic that Bitcoin and its community is really doing some good in this world.

Did you also the check where that price was listed and what volume?
It was a shady exchange  with a volume of close to 2BTC a day. That is going to take some time...

Check localbitcoins for the price, there is nothing special about price in Zimbabwe , just some that really try to scam people buying at 3 times the price. That doesn't mean you can't buy at close to market levels price.

Africa is known to be a relatively mature market of crypto and bitcoin.

How and please give some data on this!!!
Mature? Common, let's be serious.

No it wasn't. Sorry to burst your socialist dream but bitcoin will do exactly the opposite.
Those that have money now will get richer, the ones that can't afford to buy will stay poor.

Bitcoin is pure capitalism and free market, not state controlled socialism

There has been a misunderstanding.  Maybe it is the phrase 'spread the wealth'. Spread the power is better way to say it.  Individuals would gain power back from governments and corporations by owning and controlling their capital.

Bitcoins rising price is attracting investors from all over the world, African countries are not behind in it. Due to long lasting civil wars economies of African countries are devastated. As a result developing economies are allowing trading in bitcoins. In South Africa, cryptocurrencies like BitPesa, Bitfinance are gaining popularity. In Zimbabwe, Nigeria local merchants, traders and activists believe this new money as better alternative for their collapsed economy. But remote areas still have problems like connectivity; electricity etc. so there fiat currency is the only option. Signature Campaign, a bitcoin related activity will help to generate jobs in these countries.

A simple check on Google would have told you the part of the world Zimbabwe belongs to. Zimbabwe currently has one funny and unique economic system and won't doubt if the price is even triple in that part of the world. For the entire Africa moving to bitcoin just like that is something you really need to reconsider and its even going to be faster for the advanced countries to make that happen than Africa because the infrastructure, the basic education is still behind in Africa which the other countries have gone ahead with.

It is really good news, both for Bitcoin and Africa. From the beginning, the idea was not only to give financial freedom, but also bank those who are not able to use modern financial services. "Bank the unbanked" is what most of us were trying to say from the very beginning. It is a sad fact that there are a lot of people who don't even have a bank account in Africa. Good news is that they no longer will need that. Because soon, Bitcoin will give them the opportunity to be their own banks.

They buy Bitcoins and invest in Ponzi schemes, trying to double their money in 10 days, consequently they lose all their Bitcoins and start spreading around Bitcoin is a scam, bla, bla, bla... And the "referrers" who bring these people to Crypto-Currency aren't very interested in explaining such details...

And in my opinion, it's momentum will continue in the year 2018. A lot of people are saying that it is a bubble and it will drop dramatically. We should realize that as we use cryptos, we help these people especially from poor countries. We, the users of these coins make the price grow and in turn giving them the chance to make money from the coins that they are holding. The economy of these coins is based on how the world uses it, how the supply and demand moves. People are being saved by cryptos, the increasing benefits of these coins to people just implies that the government should support bitcoin!

This will help a lot in African countries that have an issue with money and the economy is collapsing. They start embracing it by having a perfectly good system in place. Also many otheer countries have started accepting bitcoins by showing their intrest in bitcoins by developing bitcoin ATM, accepting bitcoins as a mean of payment. Hope this will help bitcoins to grow much more ahead and also serious bitcoins investors can have a good future if the same development continues.

These grassroots movements really push the conversation on the ground floor and lead to faster business adoption.

You can say that again and again. Africa is not going to be left behind in this global financial services revolution. I meet and interact with people on a daily basis who are in Africa and are actively involved in the cryptoworld. It's amazing the enthusiasm and growing interest from Africa in bitcoin and blockchain technology. I just hope the various government in Africa help their citizens by providing them with the needed infrastructure such as constant power and data access to help sustain this growing interest

This is very good news for all of us and this shows that bitcoin is really hard to stop right now and that's why so many countries are talking about it recently. But I just want to question whether Africa is really ready for this tsunami? Have they set up their infrastructure? Internet and Electricity are there? Because if the majority of Africans have so many problems they face then how will they adopt bitcoin? They should be prioritized such as food, shelter and water before bitcoin is really beneficial to all of us

The problem in making Bitcoins popular in Africa is that there the users are more likely to indulge in small and medium sized transactions. And due to the high transaction fee associated with Bitcoins, BTC is not very suitable for performing such transfers.

According to reports and aggregate data from Google, Bitcoin is on the rise in Africa. Bitcoin is attracting investors in Africa, for example, in a typical group of investors such as Millennial in Africa, Catherine Byaruhanga of Uganda. For example, a young resident from Kampala, Peace Akware, hopes the bitcoin she has invested will increase enough for her to buy a car, maybe even buy the land someday. Another person from Kampala, Martin Serugga, is teaching electronic money in his weekly class with more than 50 attendees. Serugga teaches the class how to trade electronic money against Fiat used in the country.
Other reports also mention that since the economic and political crisis in South Africa began, locals began to search for Bitcoin. On this trading day, Etoro made a comeback in March when regional finance minister Pravin Gordhan lost his position. "In South Africa, the number of new users trading Bitcoins through Etoro increased 671 percent from January to the end of November last year over the same period in 2016, higher than the growth rate, '' said Mati Greenspan, an analyst. overall manager 574% ".

That is not true no wholesalers or retail store here in Nigeria accept payment in any currency other than fiat. bitcoin are only used here to pay for subscription services and to buy other online services but locally it is not yet use as a medium of payment. digital currency have always been use widely in Nigeria back then since the time of liberty reserve and generally Nigeria is first to known in Africa when it comes to adopting technology such as africa due to their versalitity and there presence on the internet.

Investors could earn money and help their families. The problem is that the majority of people do not have access to computers and the internet. How is it possible for them to buy crypto? Nigeria is doing a good job for Africa as many said. My question concerns the security aspect. Talking about p2p, how do they ensure the security of transactions?
Anyway, it is great to see Africa joining crypto. It is a young continent and Crypto can help them more than fiat money. They just need to develop their infrastructure.

Electricity is one the biggest problem most African countries have including Nigeria and looking in that sector will as will grow the economy.
Internet communications is another problem in Africa. For the countries like Uganda, internet connection is very expensive because their government placed a high task for internet browsing.
