I don't know about other countries but here in the Philippines is legal to use Bitcoin since it has been approve by our Central bank.

I think Japan has accepted bitcoin as a legal payment option. Even in Philippines too . In India the government is planning to legalize it. Talks and discussions are going on for it. I think it may take a year to take some decision about it in India. They also have a plan to include it in goods and service section. In the near future, I hope most of the countries will legalize it, because its getting popular day by day.

As far as I'm concern, by it's nature, bitcoin is legal. However, certain organizations like banks or government may ban it if they feel it'll do bad than good. But that doesn't mean that it is illegal.

Bitcoin is legally used in some other countries, we can see there were some that accepted by great companies and with influence with the public but in terms of legalizing the income that we received from bitcoin I guess it is another topic b ause for sure once it is legalize the  taxes or Vat comes along with it which is a reay big burden to use for sure because aside from the fees we put in blockchain then here comes the government collecting and eliminating some coins as to taxes. Why do you even want to see bitcoin as a Legalized Currency? Is that really worth it? I mean if you believe that government should control everything and they can handle it as well better than anything then I am not saying that they can not. I know they can do that better than anyone but As bitcoin is designed it can manage itself pretty impressively and I believe no one can ever match this much point to point transaction logging which our wallets do. I mean the online ledger system and Private/Public key sign all these stuff make bitcoin a perfect cryptocurrency.it needs no Managment from government.

You can't legalize something that was not banned before. Bitcoin is not illegal so how do you want to legalize it, it is already accepted hence legal. Most countries have not a clear position about cryptos but most of them (or all) don't ban bitcoin in any case. They gladly accept taxes related to your bitcoin activity

Sorry to point out that such a question like this isn't what we should expect from a high ranking member of this forum who should have been old enough here to know the goings on in the cryptosystem. Of course, bitcoin is just outlawed in China and a few others but generally speaking it is legal to use bitcoin in more countries than we can count.

It is already been adopted or legalized on Japan and into some few countries.I cant eventually point out but im sure there are countries which do actually adopt bitcoin but not totally speaking on adopting fully and making it as a currency but only just a new way payment system but not totally replacing their local currency. I think you have it backwards. It doesn't need to be legalized. To legalize there would need be a law against it first, and there's no laws forbidding it almost anywhere.

That would be case for many drugs and substances around the globe, but not crypto.

Bitcoin does not have to be legalised.  If a buyer and seller agree on a bitcoin transaction it is not illegal.  Think back to the days before coinage was introduced where bartering was the means of trade whether it was for goods or services eg the work of a blacksmith or carpenter. When governments get involved there are complications introduced. Laws and methods to be followed instead of a free market. Governments may be interested in those who make money from bitcoins,either trading or just holding as an investment from a revenue charge being claimed. There are some counties that has accepted Bitcoin as legal way of paying like Japan. But there are a lot more those counties that hasn't yet stated that Bitcoin is legal or illegal. As far as i heard no one is getting their salary in Bitcoins, and I mean on full time jobs. I guess that governments still doesn't have reliable way of tracking trades of Bitcoin, so that they could legalize it fully and start allowing people to pay their workers in Bitcoins. Legalizing bitcoin and govt adopting bitcoin is two differenct concepts. Many govt already give a legal status to bitcoin. Newzealad is biggest of them. But I have not seen any country which has adopted bitcoin as their currency.  This can take a lot of time or may be a few countries might never do such a thing.

It is very difficult for any country to legalize Bitcoin, because it is not just any country to receive new coins domestically, for now the country that has clearly accepted the payment is Japan, but the comparison is reversed with other countries in asia which currently more and more Asian countries prohibit the circulation of Bitcoin in his country. I feel it is important to issue legalization, because it will make its users more comfortable when transacting. in my country there is an issue that making payments with bitcoin will be subject to legal sanctions from the government, because according to him bitcoin is not a valid means of payment. obviously this is very sad in my opinion.

Decentralization makes bitcoin difficult to legalize, bitcoin legalization takes a long time, I'm sure there will be disagreement because if it is legalized it can threaten financial system using fiat money.

The use of bitcoin is allowed everywhere but it's just about how the regulatory authorities look after the bitcoin when it comes to the bank accounts. The thing in my country is completely taxed after I cashout it to my bank account. May be that's one of kind of legalisation only. Some countries may not look at it in that way as it's free of taxes. So it depends country to country.

I keep saying this again and again, bitcoin will only be legalized once there is enough dent in the economy that the government actually says or thinks that this is a good idea. With bitcoin and the fact that we are trying to further it this makes our goal something we can continually aspire to.

from what I heard and read some article the bitcoin in japan has become 100% legal and I myself don't know what the regulation because I don't live in japan.

That is right that the Japan already made 100% legalization of bitcoin in their country and there is more than 200,000 stores that are accepting bitcoin right now and i believe that bitcoin is a good way for them to increase their income because if they just hold the bitcoin that they collected from payments then their income in bitcoin already go up to 200%. I don't think that there is regulation in bitcoin in Japan because the government only do to the stores is to tax them based on their income.

Yes, Bitcoin is growing so fast and more people everyday support it. But personal opinion sometime does not agree with opinion of our governments, and sometime that is the problem. Bitcoin is serious thing and therefor governments need to approach it carefully. Legalization of Bitcoin will for sure benefit all of us, but bigger question is how it will be regulated. One day for sure everyone will legalize Bitcoin as legal way of paying, I do not see reason why not.

Bitcoin is conflicted with its form and nature. As what bitcoin really is? Some say it's currency and some say it's assets or store value nothing else. Different countries are now adding up bitcoin into list of assets same like stock exchanges etc and some of them are not even bothering to consider it as currency or asset because of their underdeveloped structure. So former will legalise soon but later will take time.

In Japan and Canada  Bitcoin is now legal payment method, USA legal only partially, Europe is mixed bag where in UK is legal but some other countries in EU want TAX introduction, Russia is looking into legalise Bitcoin and tax more likely and in Poland is legal and taxed already (18%).

People confuse the concept of legalization and prohibition of use. Are two different things. There are governments which have adopted decisions for themselves and already want to ban the cryptocurrency. There are governments which have not accepted the decision and took the position of waiting. In fact, the legalization of bitcoins will be only then when there will be the opportunity to buy bitcoins goods in the store or change in the Bank bitcoin to Fiat and back. The governments' reactions are understandable because they just want to protect their economy and their people. Most of the average joes has no clue about bitcoin (and about shares, commodities, derivatives, forwards, options etc...) They know about cash and credit card and that's all. If they start to buy bitcoin, because of the hype at $6,000 and after the first upcoming correction they panic sell it at $4,000, they will complain to the government why it was allowed to buy bitcoin.... this is only the first aspect.
The second is, governments and tax authorities can't really follow the payment chain when bitcoin is used as the method of the payment. They prefer the bank transfer, which they can trace easily. Using cash above the sum of $1.000 is also banned in most of the countries in the EU (or something similar, to prevent money laundry). It's not easy to move large sum of money in cash. If people/companies moves it via bank transfer, it's traceable. For me bitcoin should be legalized. First, there’s nothing wrong about it. Like it is not really used in illegal activities or something. Once, it’s legalized then it will be easier to track those people who attempt to use it in illegal activities.

I think the reason why other countries can not legalized Bitcoin is that they still does not believe what is the good effect and the benefits of Bitcoin . They are still new in digital currency or crypto currency that why they can not legalized it to their country. They are just trying to protect their people in scam. There are countries that started to legalize and adapt Bitcoin. First of it is Japan. Bitcoin is already legal in some big countries,  especially japan. Japanese are very like to make transaction virtually, so bitcoin is very popular there.

In our country here in the country Bitcoins are legal and it is approved by central banks. In other countries maybe because the bitcoins are not legal because the government does not know it. It will bring good to the people of their country. Or they think it can damage the banks of their country.

I think by nature, bitcoin is legal. I think the term your talking about is to regulate. Since its gaining more and more popularity and a lot of people are now using it as a mode of payment, i think it would be better to set rules or guidelines in regulating it. Some countries are now accepting it as payment.

Seriously speaking i don't think the government are unaware about the existence of bitcoin itself and its community, they just not tell about it, we do not know what is the particular or specific reason on it but its not true that they are not aware.

It'll take more time to legalize Bitcoin in more country in the world cause it's not easy when any country want to legalize Bitcoin that mean they have to have enough ability to control both advantages and disadvantages of Bitcoin. Actually i dont really think about bitcoin legalization. For me it does not mean anything. I only want my country allow me to use bitcoin as payment transaction or just as trading tool even without legalization.

Btc is not illegal in the first place i think, its just not yet recognized by the government and other people that's why it's not popuplar. Maybe some country are scared of btc cause they see it's potential that's why they banned it, btc is decentralized and they are afraid cause they can't control it.

Legalization means its regulated so yes, it is possible.

Bitcoin is completely legal in the US. As long as you report any major profits and pay tax on them you are perfectly fine using it. legalization is not an issue. Permits for exchanges and dealing with people trying to put restrictions on it then catering to banks is a different issue entirely.

There are already a few countries that accepted, legalized, and regulated the usage of bitcoin. These countries include Philippines and Japan, of course. I think, there's no problem with legalizing bitcoin especially when the government and national bank of a certain country has good talk with the businessmen running bitcoin businesses in that country.

The problem with other countries (like China) banning bitcoin is that they do not want that bitcoin will be used by people without paying taxes. And I think these countries doesn't have enough time to talk over it that's why they don't prioritize the legalization of bitcoin in their country.

According to me bitcoin is not illegal not more than one or two countries the remaining countries have no such laws against bitcoin but yes its true that no one country have accepted bitcoin in their rules and laws but the probability of acceptation is more in future.

I don't really care much about the legalization of Bitcoin, first we need it to be accepted by many and most of the population all over the country, and if government accept BTC it is the very first fundamental we need, because we need them to acknowledge it and allow it to be use everywhere.

Oh my own opinion a country do not need to tell if something is legal and someone must just try to find out if something is illegal or not, if it is not illegal. Then it is legal.

If forex trading is legal I don't see why bitcoin shouldn't be because they function synonymously.

In my country, the users are freely to use bitcoins because our governement legalized bitcoin. There are many people in my society who are now becoming interested tto what is bitcoin because they know that they using bitcoin is legal.

I think about the legalization of bitcoin is something to happen in the near future.
Because some countries are gradually accepting bitcoin. And i am hoping that someday bitcoin will be legalized worldwide.

I am from India and bitcoin is banned in my country but I have heard that Europe is accepting bitcoin widely and even they are accepting bitcoin payments for universities and schools. I think It will take a lot of time to actually make bitcoin and other altcoins to be legalized in many countries.

In my country bitcoin is illegal for transaction and that regulation still exist till now. From news that i read there are some countries legalize bitcoin like uzbeskhistan & germany. I hope other country approve bitcoin

There are a lot of countries that have acknowledged and accepted bitcoin as a part of business industry. There are banks in some countries that are already linked with cryptocurrency, allowing their people to freely use bitcoin in transactions.

When it comes to the legalization of bitcoin, worldwide, it is still a vague subject and requires a thorough discussion. One of the possible reasons for a country to make a law in order to prohibit the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency is that transactions made by the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency can’t be traced by the government. Consequently this transactions can’t be taxed by the government, leaving a big impact unto the income of government. Also, the government view Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency as threats to the their local currency. If the number of people who are using flat or physical money that are legalize by the government are being lessen then it wasn’t being use to it’s utmost purpose.

The issue of legalizing bitcoin and other crypto-currencies has been steadily rising in many countries over the past decade.  To date, the same bitcoin has already been officially recognized in Japan, Canada, Britain, Germany and a number of other states.  In Russia, this issue is very difficult, but nevertheless, the government understands that it is impossible to prohibit decentralized digital systems, which means that it is worthwhile to send activity to the sphere of legalization and legislative regulation of crypto-currencies.

The legal status for bitcoin in an international country is very important. Its existence can freely circulate like cash in general.

Indeed this question is the question that needs to be answered because people are going crazy about it for seeing bitcoin as fraud or scam. But here in the Philippines, it is legal.

I don't think bitcoin will become the main currency of any one particular country. But in bitcoin is continuosly being accepted by some countries as a means of exchange for goods and services. In most countries there is no stance as to whether or not bitcoin is legal. I think in a few years when individual companies start accepting bitcoin as a means of payment, governments will start looking at how to legalise bitcoin for a win-win results.

Legalization of Bitcoin is depend on the use of Bitcoin in the future. The more multinational large companies accept the Bitcoin the more it will be legalize. When the large companies accept the BTC then the respective country will also legalize it. Because most of the country nor call it illegal or legal. Besides this, I think many country prepared their policy regarding BTC and India is one of them. So, we expect many country will legalized within December 2018.

The central bank of my country has approved to bitcoins legality. And I'm so relieved to hear this new because i can use bitcoin freely and as much as i want because my government supports how it works. Last year i heard that there are seminars about bitcoin also here in my country which is the Philippines.

I think bitcoin is already legal. There is no scam in transaction in any ways. You cant say its illegal no rules bitcoin is disobey.

The BTC does not need to be legalized because in many countries it is not prohibited. The btc would need rules to protect users from fraud, money laundering and wallet violations. This is not legalization but legality.

I haven't heard of any thing that makes bitcoin illegal here in my country.  I heard some news that there are some seminars that being held here in the Philippines that talks about bitcoin.  I'm glad this is happening because there are countries where bitcoin is illegal and banned to be used by their people but my country is open to bitcoin and i think this is a blessing

Legalization if bitcoin can only be possible if most government would accept it and stop seeing it has scam.

I pikirvmereka also have a plan to put the goods and services. in the near future, I hope most countries will melegalkannya, as the more popular day. I think Japan has received bitcoin as payment options legitimate. even in the Philippines, too. in India, the government plans to melegalkannya. talks and discussion ongoing for it. I think might take a year to take some decisions about it in India.

Although Bitcoin does not require the legalization of any government of any country, what bitcoin takes is the acceptance of a state government to be able to be used by the community, even without the receipt of bitcoin will remain in use by everyone in the world as long as the internet can still be accessed by all investors and the potential investors.

for now I have never found a country that has legalized bitcoin, but I started to find a lot of transactions using bitcoin in some stores in my country. I hope this is the first step in the legality of bitcoin.

it is hard to believe, but bitcoin is very helpful to our needs but many countries are also less believe in the existence of bitcoin.

I think legalization would be very soon, ,more countires accepting crypto, more influence and demand on it. Japan already legalized bitcoin and reciving many useful stuff from it.

I think that the problems of legalization are primarily related to the problems of bitcoin control in the country. As we know, bitcoin technology excludes any control by the state, but the government does not like it. Therefore, the issue of legalization was delayed.
