Just look at the two BigVern pools for digitalcoin (DGC) and worldcoin (WDC),

Both pools are far over 51% of the network hashrates. 

Their monopoly explains the rarity and the fact that they cannot be efficiently solo-mined.

BOYCOTT MONOPOLY COINS!  Stick to coins that don't have pools with 90% of the hashrate...

This is the message displayed at vern's pool. It seems he decided to take action

There is always the option of producing a better product and providing some competition.

My guess for DigicoinPool is he had a lot of dormant accounts who had moved on. When the DGC price made it's 25% rise today a lot of action picked up on the pool. Nothing he can do about it really. You are making too big a deal out of this.

You clearly have no idea how mining works.

Vern's pool having over 50% doesn't magically make the coin rarer.  ::)

I solo mine DGC fine. And Vern closed the signup form which shows he values the currency over profit.

That is my point exactly.  Please let me restate it:

BigVern 's monopolies are closed for business.  If you are in- great.  If you are out- your blocks are denied and you cannot mine a block.

The issue is that Big Vern pools are 0% fee and seems that you are getting paid better. And it does not matter if he has 30% or 80% because he is a supporter of the coin. pool has 51% of network? solution - form a few more pools and actively recruit people to mine.

Having over 51% of a crypto coins hashing power is certainly concerning no matter how pretty a picture fan boys try to paint.

If Bigvern gets hacked, WDC and DGC would be in serious danger of a double spend attack, and could make it worthless in a matter of minutes.

It is a serious problem.

But it's not a scam on WDC, DGC, or Verns parts. It's just an unfortunate circumstance that could be taken advantage of by malicious parties.

Anyone mining WDC with bigvern who wants to even things out switch to erundooks pool at http://wdcpool.erundook.net/ Been using it since WDC launch and it works fine, usually has about 1/4 to 1/3rd of the total hashrate. Or else switch to one of the other new pools.

Well that's a simplistic, elitist, and idiotic way to look at it. Just because creating clone coins become the new get rich quick scheme doesn't mean that every single currency is a scam. There are some people in the world that are still trying to push out honest currencies with original ideas.

I wouldnt be too concerned. Verns pool is only just on 50% total and he has closed registrations until network hashrate rises. Nothing to see here...move along...

I'm pretty sure most people are on bigvern's pool because it's linked from Cryptsy, the main DGC hub at the moment.

There are plenty of other pools, some with >100mhash and p2pool options.

I had issues mining WDC, I guess the block time is too fast but DGC income seems pretty stable, difficulty curve considered

make a long time to future...
