Any theories on what caused the sudden spike in price? Do you think the price will hold over the next few weeks? Any speculations for the future?

Big day for BTC, I remember reading threads in 2015 about how "one day BTC will be over 5k USD"... today's that day

One theory is that people are buying BTC to hold them for a couple of weeks and to get the upcoming Bitcoin Gold.

I think it has to do with the upcoming fork, you will get bitcoin gold and also a possible fork in November.

Yes i very happy to this price of bitcoin. I always used to think bitcoin price when will over 5k USD. Really i am very exciting to this price. I think bitcoin price also increase next week. When it's price (10k-13k) USD i buy a house.

Unless another event like the issue of the China banning bitcoin from there country, I think bitcoin will continue to grow up though not necessarily rise up quickly, it may go down a little but the growth rate will be much greater. This is because they are holding bitcoins and this causes the price to go up since the supply or the number of bitcoin will be hold up o every users who wish. Then as the price goes up more and more people will be encouraged to hold bitcoin. Thus, continuing the growth of bitcoin.

Well... It's getting more and more difficult for a beginner like me to get in the bitcoin world...

congratulations to all bitcoin holders this is something to celebrate but I'm thinking people are buying bitcoin because of the coming fork, where holders will receive the same amount of the new bitcoin fork once the fork start this could be the reason why they are buying more bitcoin

Quite possibly due to the two upcoming forks in the future. People thinking that they're getting "free money". Possibly people who missed the free bitcoincash months ago.

Why so? What does price have to do with the knowledge you can gain by studying cryptocurrencies? If you're talking about investing, then it's just gonna get harder and harder to buy cheap bitcoin if you continue waiting.

That's true but only one fork will actually be the winner. both might survive but one will be the true victor and be worth more than the other. and the uncertainty of the new fork will cause prices to shoot down during the first 2 weeks

Now, the next milestone is $8k, I guess if there will be no bitcoin bubble explosion, we could have $8k, $10k, $12 by next year. :) I believe at 2020 we will have $20000. If God would bless me and give me 1BTC that time, then I would have a 1 million currency in my country :)

There is a coming hard fork and everyone is trying to hold their btc to gain bitcoingold ,
And I think after that bitcoin would bitcoin would be pump for a while before it drops down again.

The Impending Hard Fork had force the value to rise up because right now the effect of a Hard Fork for them is an opportunity to get more in the future and because of the free coins that we might get with bitcoin gold that the buying is more irrelevant right now, buy and hodl they say!

More than hopeful though. Hard forks aren't guaranteed to be good for Bitcoin just because it was beneficial last time doesn't mean it's going to be this time and people should be wary of what a hard fork can do.

Also, every successful bitcoiner out there who earns quiet amount of bitcoin had been a beginner also like me. I dedicate some of my time learning then I came to know methods to earn bitcoins which really helps me a lot.

I can't think of any other reason besides the upcoming hardfork. People are selling altcoins and buying bitcoins so as to get free money. This is truly remarkable. The most awaited part of every btc holder. For those who were skeptical about that "over 5k" remark, then its time to believe. Its not coming, it is here.

People won't since they had witnessed what happened when the Bitcoin Cash fork which the price just continue rising and it doesn't affect the market of the real Bitcoin.

After chinese limits bitcoin the bitcoin price drops. I think there are other people in other countries that would invest for the sake of the currency.

Thanks God.. Bitcoin still strong even after China ruin bitcoin price couple weeks ago, luckily I still have faith to hold my remaining coin. I'm so happy now. I hope bitcoin still have room to climb up again.

Congratulations to all my bitcoin holder friends.Today is really a big day.As we all expected the bitcoin has crossed the $5000 milestone,am really happy about this.Its really amazing to see such growth even after China banning ICOs.Even though many of them panicked and sold their bitcoins,still the bitcoin managed to cross this great milestone.This is just the beggining,bitcoin's value will keep on rising as it's demand keeps on growing All the best to all the bitcoin miners and holders.

We've also seen this happen at the time of the previous Bitcoin Cash fork, but not too long after that we had a lot of bad news from China which caused the price to drop again.

I wonder what the price will do this time if we don't have a string of bad news coming in after the forks happened.

Also keep in mind that this will also bring in new investors who are attracted by the sudden price increase. I've personally had a lot of friends ask about Bitcoin lately. There's an article on Bitcoin pretty much every week now in our local newspapers as well.

I agree with others the price hike is due to the upcoming hard fork and I heard talks about price increasing more in next few days in some fb group and chats related to BTC of-course its just assumption right now, the price was on 5,250$+ has dropped to 5195$ now although its going up and down pretty quickly IMO it will rise more in the next few days.

I think Bitcoin will go up much much more!

This is really something to look forward with. Knowing that bitcoin gone through a hard downfall just recently when its market value is down to 3400$ from 4500$, and now it fully recovered having a value of 4600$. Maybe it will hit 5000$ before at the end of this month. If the segwit2x will also be successful just like the previous one, it will be more expensive before going to next year which will open more oppurtunities to it which will also mean that bigger profit will be to its users and investors.

Now bitcoin is 5188 us dollar. It is just beginning, bitcoin is reach 10000 us dollar in October 25. Because bitcoin gold will be launched. That day bitcoin is suddenly increasing as much as possible.
Traders are hold the bitcoin in last week. This is the main reason to increase bitcoin.

It has something to do with the Oct. 25 fork. But I'm a little bit worried because its still a full two weeks and we are already seeing a significant gains over the past few days. However, this is another milestone made today by bitcoin market. What worries me though is that why it suddenly rises in just 24 hours? We all know that we can get free coins during the fork, but are someone been pumping bitcoin? Well I hope that its sustainable because as I have said we still have 2 full weeks before the implementation so I'm just bracing myself and expect the unexpected. Today Bitcoin surprised me a lot. While I'm not holding Bitcoin but Altcoin, Bitcoin's price goes up unstoppable. May touch $ 5500 this October.

Milestone for bitcoin but I am sad I have just exchanged my Bitcoins yesterday and now I am seeing Bitcoins above 5100$ :( I could've earned that profit but my bad or my bad luck I have exchanged my BitCoins just a day before it reached 5k. Good luck to all with their investments.

I think people should be careful about Bitcoin prices at this time because now the market is so chaotic and if you greed you will surely regret and my advice to everyone is if Bitcoin reaches $ 5500 Everyone should sell immediately and wait for Bitcoin to return for $ 5000, because at this point Bitcoin price is expected to reach $ 6,000.

The price will go down to a fair correction, where you could realize some good profit if you do what is the best here.  Dont be so greedy :)

We have 2 more weeks to sell our bitcoins for a good price after that surely it will come down. So don't miss the opportunity to make a good profit. But i am not sure up to where the price will increase and come down. Last time it reached up to $4900+ and came down to $2k. So this time maybe it will go up to $6k.

Bitcoin Gold Fork is the main reason for btc's new ATH, People are converting their alts into bitcoin just to get free airdrop when the fork comes. today is a good day for bitcoin holders but not for altcoin holders for the alts price tremendously fall

Maybe because of Bitcoin fork.Bitcoin holder will receive Bitcoin gold in the time of bitcoin  fork.That's why people buying Bitcoin and Bitcoin price rising.

Not at all, just buy small. You'll measure your success in FIAT profit anyway - turning $200 into $400 dollars is fantastic, regardless of what decimal of bitcoin you own. It's never too late.

It is a big encouragement  to bitcoin holders and a great shame to countries that think by banning bitcoin it will  bring crash to the ideology.  

Actually it has reached 5k before and now it has surpassed the old one as long as everyone expects it. Before heading for the fork, it crossed the top and set a new record of value, but I thought it was about to fall back to the 4k2 -4k5 range and then proceed to the fork. I think the appearance of another bitcoin does not reduce the value of the bitcoin but after the fork it will continue to grow until the 10k price is what i expected and hope it will do so

I guess people are accumulating for the next fork, to get free coins just like last time. Also I think people realized that China didn't exactly banned bitcoin and are buying back. My opinion.

It is all about the people who holds other cryptocurrencies and Altcoins, they converting it now into Bitcoin because there is an aidrop for the incoming Hard Fork of Segwit2x this coming late October so they are just getting ready about that I think, and take the fact also that there are some new investors that taking the ride of the increasing price of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin already reached the all time high when it comes to market cap. and price, I this is only the start as there is more thing that Bitcoin will offer soon that will result for much more increase of it. Let's hope that Bitcoin will reach $100 billion Market Cap by the end of this year.

Yup, since the fork last August causes first fud and panic but still become success, few given a free bch so now everyone aiming to jave some bitcoin gold on the fork.

If more people buy bitcoin price will getting higher thats the simple theory.
In my opinion, nearly the hardfork more people will hold their bitcoin. It will affect to bitcoin price.

This is a big achievement for the bitcoin, i think the bitcoin will stack in this price until the end of this year. And in my opinion, i think this is the best time to sell bitcoins.

there really doesn't need to be any weird reason for this rise. it is the same old uprising trend. more adoption and more money is being poured in bitcoin for many different reasons from people who already knew and held bitcoin and also new people who just found out about bitcoin.

it has been time for the rise. we didn't have any rise for more than a month. and this is long overdue.

This rise was because of the expected fork. I hoped it will be after tomorrow, as that is the day I transfer some of my money in BTC, but apparently I will need to pay high price for it this month.

It's good to be careful when you buy BTC.  A lot of people are blaming last months price crash on China.  I really don't think the crash had anything to do with China banning ICO's and exchanges at all.  I think it was mostly people aiming for the $5000 mark and selling off their BTC once it hit that, huge investors and whales will use bots to automatically sell off their BTC once it hits a certain mark causing a huge dump and price crash.

Although it's exciting, I think it's good to wait until the next price correction to buy, possibly after the fork or when it gets close to $6000.  Any price under $4000  will be good.  And if you think it won't crash and price correct again in the future then, well, go ahead and buy them up now...

The $5,000 mark was an important psychological barrier. The next important one is going to occur at $10,000. And by that time, the market capitalization of Bitcoin will be around $170 billion, which is more than the market cap of many of the major American corporations such as Boeing and Raytheon.

So we break the $5,000 Price, Can we expect $10,000 USD before year ends? or $7,500 is much achievable?

Bitcoin has increased 3x the amount that I saw it at a couple of months ago which means by the end of this year we could be seeing some massive numbers.

hoarding coins in anticipation for FREE coins, when Bitcoin forks again later this month. The higher the demand and the

lower the supply, will lead to a increase in the price. Hoarders unite... DO NOT sell your coins to the people who wants a

At some point it has been expected for bitcoin to reach $5k but i don't think a lot expected it to happen now. Nonetheless, this is a good news for all bitcoin holders. With the upcoming fork, i guess we all have to brace ourselves for whatever will happen but surely, bitcoin will soar.

Most likely to stay in the range of $ 5000, many people who bought  4500 $ and did not sell after the down payment to  2900 $ will be very happy. And those who sold lower will be crying :(

The most likely explanation is that people are getting bitcoin in order to get bitcoin gold as an airdrop, then they are going to sell that altcoin and get even more bitcoin and since another fork is coming after that, the same is going to happen and then we are going to get to the end of the year in which bitcoin has a tendency to go up as well, I will not be surprised if we saw a price of 7k or 8k before the end of the year.

This is actually a memorable date for bitcoin. It sets its new ATH or its all time high. This is so good for BTC. I wanted to sell this news, on October 20 there would be a dip. And after that on October 25 new ATH again. That would be the movement of the market of BTC. Good luck!

I think after the $5k break there will be one other to pass before the $10k milestone and it is $8888 (I know they trying to stop trading in China, but...)

A memorable date indeed. As per what I've heard bitcoin will this price by the end of the year but never expected it will reach it sooner than the desired date. I know that bitcoin gold is one the reason behind it but  it really is just hard to believe on it.

Bitcoins have already passed the 5,000 $ theory but it's just a hyip. Because people are buying bitcoins to have this free BTG (Bitcoin Gold). Bad thing for now, people are holding it for another fork and it causes alts to crash which is not good for most of the investor, portfolios are shrinking despite of BTC grow these days.

When the price is right, market cap would drop certainly, FUD would spread and history repeats again, optimisticly BTC could growth around $7000 at least if the bullish trend continues...

I think also it. At the time of bitcoin fork, bitcoin price will decrease. But it will not stay many more day. After fork bitcoin will run rapidly and it will reach a high value price. Supply of bitcoin is a great factor in this case to up down price of bitcoin.

Lmao, 10k-13k USD for 1 bitcoin ? That is huge dude and I don't even think it will reach $10k in the next year. But i'm still happy for today, the price of bitcoin finally surpass $5,000 right now, actually I also don't know why the bitcoin price suddenly increase so high though.

I think bitcoin has shown stability compared to other crypto. but none of that will ever know what will happen. but I think the bitcoin will be pumped back by the end of this year.

What's so complicated? Been waiting all. This is only the beginning of the climb. The price will rise at least to the fork. Too many expectations from this process. Bitcoin has been gaining more acceptance among the financial institutions.

This hike was expected as we are heading towards Gold fork. Just like BCH free coins, people want BTG coins and thus increasing their Bitcoin holdings which resulted into increase in buying activity which increased demand and which in turn increased price. I think bullish trend will continue till 25th oct and after that there might be minor correction.

I think it's really hard to keep Bitcoin price stay around 5k$ in next few week cause as everyone knows that the hard fork is coming I don't really know it will happen in the end of this month or in next month but I think that the hard fork will affect a lot to Bitcoin price but don't really know it'll dump or pump the price of Bitcoin. I hope that it'll be the same with the hard fork on 1st August when Bitcoin price got over 4k$ right after the hard fork.

This is great news because in the very first time the bitcoins have already reached nearly $ 5,500 and really many traders have earned big money here. But do not rejoice because I think this is a HYIP. Because we know now that there will be a 2nd HardFork and maybe those who want to get free BTG (Bitcoin Gold). If i have Bitcoins in Poloniex, Cryptopia, Localbitcoins and Ledger Nano S, do i get free Bitcoin Gold in all these Bitcoins?

In my opinion, right now is a hype. Lats time people got scared about the fork and in the end it was a success, So they just want to buy BTC so they can get another coin for free. Although i think it might crash again in the future, but not below 4.000usd. I could be wrong as well, with BTC you never know  :P

For the exchanges I have experience with Cryptopia and BTC-e they both supported the |BCH, so I got it there.
The Hard wallets will work, the question is how you will access them (as you will need to expose the private key...) but at least you will be able to get them one day ;) only you and no one else.

I think Bitcoin prices will continue to rise until before 25/10 because most people's opinions Bitcoin prices rise because of the upcoming fork. they want to get free bitcoin gold

One thing nobody has mentioned- which was interesting to me (to say the least) the BTC price jumped up over $200 in less than 30 minutes... must be a large player making trades?

It's just part of the trading cycle. People see the price shooting up, and they rush to get onboard. Wherever it hits it's highest point, it probably won't stay there for long. That's just how the market works.

I was quite sure it would happen by the end of the year. Now I'm curious about Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Segwit2X value. I think that Segwit2X will end like Bitcoin Cash. Some people will try to force using it (Bitmain accepts only BCH payments) or it will be forgotten. It's hard to predict what will be the price of Bitcoin in the next year.

Well yes its a good news that the rate of bitcoins have increased, what I feel the possible reasons are :-

1. Due to the upcoming bitcoin fork in november, many people are investing in Bitcoins because they know the price of bitcoins is gonna shoot after the fork.

2. Some people are investing to buy bitcoins gold ^ well bitcoin cash isn't that popular in many countries but maybe this gold option is attracting many investors

3. Bitcoins are now recovering from the China ban .. and I think they have fully recovered now , with new possibilities offcourse.

4. Bitcoins are now legalized in many countries and countries like japan has put them to use like a regular currency thus...the price... Hike is seen.

Next milestone 10,000 which I think will be sooner than some people think.....maybe with in a year?

I think it's clear that this surge in prices has caused the upcoming hard fork. Many people buy btc in order to get more bitcoin gold. After a fork we go back to the$ 3000 IMHO.

I think we can separate into two main groups of people:

1) Those aware of the upcoming fork preparing to hold and get as much Bitcoin Gold they can;
2) Those that noticed the rising through media coverage willing to get involved as soon as possible to make some profit. For example, few moments CNN was covering the BTC rise. Similarly, many other mainstream media are also covering...

I'm not saying they are the only ones contributing to the rising. Although, they seem to be the main value influencers.

I don't know what triggers an increase in the value of bitcoin prices. but we should give appreciation for this very big thing. I want my bitcoin to be stable and not to experience any decrease. although all that is uncertain.

Why $ 5,000 this is a new milestone? This year, one day that price has been. This is actually a return to the price which was in August. If the trend remains the same we will see what the price will be higher. The main catch to sell bitcoin before, in November, the price will begin to decline. Now we will enjoy daily records.

I think this is the result of the community maturing and bitcoin surpassing all difficulties it has faced so far, and showing to future investors that buying bitcoins is actually a good move. There is of course the approach of bgold. Probably a lot of bitcoin users are trying to get as much bgold as possible. After all it's a free coin, so it's risk free money they can grab.

I think once the price remains comfortably above 5K for a day or 2, it will be an easy take of from there again.

Yea surely it is big  day for Bitcoin today Bitcoin crossed 5000 dollar milestone. Previously I read so many posts saying one day bitcoin would reach 5000 dollars and at last the day comes when bitcoin reaches the milestone of 5000 dollars.

It is indeed the new ATH now which is really great to see that bitcoin did able to break that 5k usd barrier but i would say it wont really hold up for too long because the price have just been hyped up because on the upcoming fork which most people do buy more bitcoin for the hopes of getting a free bitcoingold.

I think you overestimate the amount of people that care about Bitcoin Gold. I hadn't even heard about it until a few days ago. There's too many forks and altcoins going on, one more isn't going to be noticed by many people.

I have absolutely no idea about it I have not seen the bitcoin price for a long time. The last time I remember it was on 3000$ and now this. Well, I should be proud because when bitcoin was at 3000$ and people asked me what should they buy bitcoins I have clearly told them to do so because I believe that bitcoin price will always go up. and even if the price went down I know it will increase soon.

It seems there are many people buying bitcoin at the moment, and this action pushes the bitcoin price to another record high, one of the reason might be because of the upcoming hard fork that will gives every bitcoin owner free bitcoin gold. Yes, Its a happy moment for all that Bitcoin price is crossing 5000 USD. Bitcoin is getting popular. indicating  that more people are getting involved into this. transaction ratio is also increasing. As it is predicted earlier the price will surely touch the mark of 8000USD by this year end.

I actually didn't expect that we'd break through the 5000 resistance level this soon. I expected some sort of upward movement before the fork would happen but I never imagined it to break through the strong 5000 resistance level yet.
Seemingly after all that I've seen with bitcoin, I keep underestimating what the bitcoin bull is capable of.

I don't understand why buy bitcoin just for forked coin? can't one buy on the market when bgold or whatever is listed for cheap? i think it's completely a different reason for bitcoin price rise, not sure what is it!

I think that today's situation is very similar and similar to the time when there was another last fork. Today we are again having dinner for the bifurcation of Bitcoin and I do not know how this will affect pricing. But that nemesis as before Bitcoin rises up and reaches the next maximum today.

You know, there were people going all in on gold and silver back in 2011, just saying.   $5000 is great, but all time highs make me nervous as hell.  Don't know if I'd be buying right now, especially with no way to analyze crypto other than knowing that sentiment is extremely bullish.  Man, this market is insane.

Now its already 5300$ almost and keep rising. That's a very high level and the price recently is increasing fastly, so I think we can start buying more Bitcoins even now, despite the high price, because it will be more expensive in the future.

Still holding at 5,292 right now. I think just before the fork we might see it reach 6,000 maybe. It's fell a little in the past 2 hours but not that much considering the extremely quick spike

this is not a theory but only logic alone, bitcoin price increase is caused by bitcoin hardfork for the umpteenth time of the year, bitcoin hardfork ever done last month that produces a new coin called bitcoin cash (BCH) and for those who have bitcoin balance it will get coin from hardfork results for free, this is what causes bitcoin prices to rise, some people do not want to miss this good moment to get a new coin for free. hardfork bitcoin I heard will be held on 28 October.

It's very likely we'll see bitcoin lose value after the fork and a lot of people looking to sell their free bitcoin gold. I don't think bitoin gold will be succssful and think it will not be worth much at the time of launch. After all the madness dies I think bitcoin will slowly climb to around the 5500 mark.

Yes i saw it on the morning and i was so impressed about it, but how much can it last? when there is a huge pump, i am so anxius and i want to see it constantly going up, maybe we can see the price at $5800 by next week, or maybe a little bit more.. but i am happy with atm price, it is very high right now, more than what i expected one year ago.

I still can not understand how Bitcoin can change the world. The fact is that the personal life of each person can not change too, because only a limited community of people use crypto currency. It seems to me that it is universal use of crypto currency is out of the question.

Just like most people would have told you,that the price has been increasing from the past couple of weeks because of the upcoming fork which will avail free money in people's wallets in the form of bitcoin gold,and people are just going more than crazy about it,yeah you're getting free money,agreed but not like addicted stuff. Today bitkoin stepped over the mark of 5 400 dollars. He did not reach such heights yet. And it grows on the eyes. Perhaps the demand for it has risen because of the forthcoming fork on October 25, when it should be split up into another Bitcoin Gold coin? Everyone wants to get a free coin, which, the weaver is expected, will cost at least $ 500. Then such an excitement should last until October 25. Probably, then its rate will go down, as long as it stabilizes. However, I think that he will remain quite on high level. I think, below 5 000 dollars it already will not fall.

I think the Bitcoin will continue rising even more in the next months, and maybe it will reach the 10000$ milestone before the end of this year.

It could be due to many reasons. It could be because people are getting BTC in order to get more bgold after the fork. The BCH fork was quite profitable, so maybe they are expecting to do it again. It could also be because of the rumors that China will remove the suspension from exchanges. Finally it could just be because there were no bad news recently, apart from the usual, so the price is following its normal course and is only being affected by supply and demand. Users are getting more confidant, because nothing bad is happening to BTC, so they buy more and the price increases.

It struggled bit on the way around 4K USD up and down but it did passed that milestone. now next one is 10K

It can be i mile  stone for very people but for me its nothing because in my opinion i can see that bit coin will touch 10000 usd in near future and this is the very initial miles stone the main and big mile stone will be 10 thousand usd per bit coin. I remember when it was trading at the rate of usd 400 and when it crossed the 1000 limit it was also called miles stone at that time.

Congratulations all around.  We all helped Bitcoin to reach such a height.  I am very happy with the progress of Bitcoin and I am thrilled to have an ever increasing part in this technology.

I personally feel $7,250 would be the next milestone for bitcoin to reach.  I really have no guess as to when this will occur.  I hope this summer.

I consider myself an intuitive person.  My intuition tells me their will be a new watershed moment on the horizon.  What I mean by that is at some point in the near future (months)  Bitcoin will attract maybe 10x more publicity than it does now.  It will be talked about in the world news on major media outlets as headline stories.

This is bitcoin is skyrocket these days and I have believe on bitcoin it will going stronger. The higher the value the more demand on bitcoin. People continues to buy in bitcoin and preparation for the hard fork because of this price is increasing.

I really don't think the spike in price is due to Bitcoin Gold but rather people expecting the same thing to happen with this "split" like it did with Bitcoin Cash.  People are expecting that if they hold more BTC, they will also receive more Bitcoin Segwit2x but I'm not sure that is how it will all work out.  We'll have to see!

I don't have a theory but by looking at the charts, Bitcoin surely increases it's value annually and reaching $5000 within this year should never surprise us. Next year will hit $10,000 probably. 

Since the beginning of the year 5K has been the target. More and more people and financial institutions are seeing that it is just to large to ignore. There was a good rebound from the China ban scare and further support from the results of China deciding regulation over an outright ban. Bitcoin is here to stay, and has shown great staying power after multiple scares this year. It has gone from $768 to $5000 in 10 months. The upside is too large for people to ignore.

I think of same case with bitcoin cash thats why price these days is increasing. People tends to buy more bitcoin to receive bitcoin gold. Yes lets see what will happen if the price of bitcoin will continue to rise of or there will be a little dump after the hard fork.

relax It will not happen, because the prices are rises due to increase in demand and this demand never become less. Hard fork is just reason for price declining in past. not this time.

I do not see a special reason to observe this current behavior in the price of bitcoin. The strong upward trend that bitcoin has sustained over the course of the year has just been resumed, despite it was interrupted a few weeks by the speculation derived from the Chinese affaire. I have predicted a year-end price around $ 7,000 since the beginning of the year, and I still hold it.

This increase is amazing to watch.  I'm guessing it will go up to 5600 and then there will be a correction there back to 5k mark but let's see how it goes. 

This is not surprising, considering that bitcoin is highly volatile, it can go even much higher and might reach 7000 usd next month, this could possibly be due to the airdrop, however, i think more and more people had gotten curious on jamie dimon's publicity, even though its bad publicity to bitcoin, it still is bitcoin, and the acceptance of others as well. i think there are a lot of new bitcoin users today, who are in it for the airdrop, and probably just waited till bitcoin had a lower value in order to invest, and it could also lead to bitcoin surpassing 5000 usd and gaining a new high, i think this milestone, had given us all a lot of opportunities for learning, and let's test it on surpassing 6000 usd, probably by this month, which is very plausible.

Its really a big day for Bitcoin and its lovers to reach this target. We were expecting this to happen a little later, but it came quite soon, and as it seems, the price might end up reaching $7k by the end of this year, if it continues like this. I just sold some of my coins yesterday when the price was around $5.1k, and today it is $5.6k and now i regret why i didn't wait for one more day, and i could have more money right now ;D but these things will always keep happening. We sell now, we feel sorry for ourselves later, as the price will always keep going higher, eventually.

As people buy BTC for profit, or for the fork there is a hype and more people come to buy and less people sell, as they like to keep the coin for the forks and thus the price rises more and more...

Yeah the best thing is to hold our bitcoins for next couple of months as price can touch even $10k at the end of the year as every one was expecting that price will be $5k at the end of the year but we reached there pretty soon so the next milestone should be to achieve $10k which is surely possible by the end of the year so if you want to make best profits then better to hold your coins.

It is not a miracle, it is normal when the demand always increase more on the market. You have to remember the price of Bitcoin will decrease or increase by the demand of investors. If Bitcoin has not them, even it never has value.

They pushed the price before the fork becuase it is the only way to have a good pricing by then. If the fork does give bitcoin a hard time the correction might only be around $5000-5400 and that is a great price to begin with.

Why will people panic and sell their bitcoin when after the hard fork in October we are going to get another fork in November? If anything the enthusiasm to get bitcoin is going to get even larger, especially since the support for the fork agreed in the NYA seems to be way greater than the support that bitcoin gold has and to me that is a signal the prices probably are going to grow even more in the next months.

I don't think that people will panic as well. Or if they are buying bitcoin to get this free money, they would just dump that bitcoin gold and stick to bitcoin again.
