when the Bitcoin price keeps going up what are you doing now? hold it or be traded with altcoin.
I'm stuck in a very difficult situation now. I suffered losses in some altcoins that I bought for a high price. some rumors say that prices will be rebound back next month.
However, I'm confused better to hold altcoin and sell it after the price recovers or sell all altcoin to get BCG?
someone please give me some advice  :'( :'(

Average down on your holdings. The way to average down is to double or triple the amount you have in your wallet at very low price. Any slight appreciation will make you recover fast and put you in profit. 

Alts will surely rise following BTC gold fork in 4 days, hold on to them until then, in fact invest even more if you can. It's unlikely they'll recover to previous highs anytime soon but a large recovery is incoming.

Just give it a few days, everything will recover soon. Also, take advantage of these dips and buy your favorite alts at nice prices.

I think the most of the stable alt coins will recover after the fork.
But with after I mean, any moment after the fork, it could be 12 hours or 2 months.
Cryptocurrency trading is like the stock market, you can never do accurate predictions.
However alts like Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero and SIA have potential for the future, so my guess is that they will recover when the demand is more spread.

I'm trying to study the best alts to get into until the fork. It's the perfect time to buy these dips. Sys, neo, eth, ltc and a bunch others that are looking very appealing.

Not because altcoins are in a sort of bearish trend right now it doesn't mean it's bad for trading. Definitely bad for long term holders that bought at the top, but take note: you definitely can still take advantage of a bearish trend. It's Just that of course you really need to find really good entry points and exit points.

I will hold altcoin even if the prices are falling since I know the reason is because of BTC fork and Bitcoin Gold.

I buy more of the altcoins at time like now, because the prices will go up after the fork.

- If you have some bitcoin right now than keep it in your paper wallet before 25th oct and than you can sell all your bitcoin after fork.
- If you have some fiat right now than its better you buy some alts with half of your fiat and wait to buy more if it will be dumped more after fork or before fork.
- Don't sell any of your altcoins at current low price for loss being greedy about bitcoin gold.
- Don't sell all your bitcoin at current price, sell half of them if you want and hold half to get free bitcoin gold which you can sell when listed (its free money).
- Always calculate loss or profit you will make from crypto trading in terms of fiat and always convert your profit in USDT.

Right now seems like a very good time to buy up any altcoins you've been following and considering picking up. I believe alot of people are transferring their money back into BTC for the upcoming fork. I'll be buying up a bunch myself. Definitely not a good time for overall trading though.

Don't forget the fact that SX2 is right around the corner so value of altcoins might be under pressure for a while longer. Personally I'm not gonna touch alts even with a broomstick this month. I quickly looked at some prominent alts on coinmarketcap (ETH, Waves, Lisk, etc) and most of them lost between 5 and 10% again relative to BTC in the last 24 hours.

Never chase a coin. If you have to ask others or advice on this then you need to HOLD.  Chasing profits will get you nowhere.  If you want BTC Gold then invest more cash into BTC, don't sell your alts at a loss.  History says that the alts will bounce back. 

Also, you havn't lost anything until you sell. 

if you're already store a lot of altcoins,
or we can say it all in into it,it would be better for you to hold it right away other than get rid of it.
it's not really good enough for you to sell it just want to get a free coin from the chain split.
to be honest,in my opinion it's the best time to get into altcoin.

Just better hodl on your altcoins now and don't sell otherwise it will only make you bleed for more. We all know that traders are shifting to bitcoin now in anticipation of free money from bitcoin gold. Just wait till everything settles after the bitcoin fork. I'm sure that altcoin trader will shift back to their favorite coin. So you have better chances of regaining and covering your losses today. Just continue to hold and be patience my friend, on the other hand altcoin is bleeding might be a good time to buy and enter the market with discounted price. ;D

If you are thinking of short term trade or day trade, then ya I would say its risky as of now. But invest for a long time, you would surely see some up trend after the fork only. If the altcoins you are having are common coins, then I would say just hold tight.

Hold while, now bitkoin will fall and all sprinkled and people a bit altcoins will lift not differently. But while everyone goes only to the leader, that's the problem.

I am also in that crucial situation. I've never expected to experienced it at the very early stage but i will continue to hold it to keep my investment intact and get a profit after the hard fork.

Depending on rumors to make trading decision will make you to lose money as you will always trade out of panic. I will advise you to keep your altcoins as most of them will started appreciating after the hardfork and splitting. Bitcoin gold may not perform very well and sell your altcoins in other to get free bitcoin gold may end you a further lose. I will advise you to watch what will happen before sell your coins. One thing that I am certain of based on my trading experience is that altcoins are going to recover seriously by the middle of next month. Many traders are pumping bitcoin now not just for a free coins but also for what they are hearing on social media and rumors.

Never trade bitcoin with altcoin when bitcoin goes up. That's a mistake most people are making. They think it is the best way to make a profit. But bitcoin and altcoin are always contradictory, as bitcoin increases rapidly, altcoin is also severely reduced.

Altcoins never been up for every time and that too face fluctuation in market.

I dont understand why everytime that bitcoin goes up, altcoins go down, i dont get it, wasnt it supposed that altcoins were following bitcoin's price trend? It doesnt make any sense at all, because they are doing all the opposite to them. Bitcoin did more than 20% in the last week, and all the altcoins are down by 20 or 40 percent, and my portfolio is bleeding, i am lucky that i did not put all my funds on altcoins.

i agree altcoin trading is very bad to invest for now but i think maybe in this coming week altcoin investment comes in good condition to invest i don't understand what happen to altcoin today bitcoin price rises in the marketcap but altcoin not goes uprise like the bitcoin.

This is the best thing to do OP. Research and study first the alts before making a purchase. It is expected for the price of alts to go down before the fork therefore it is also a good time to buy. Maximize your investment by researching and dtermining which one has the most potential. Some alts out there are still worth trading because they may experience a price increase after the fork or in the future.

Instead of purchasing BCG, why not buying some bitcoin instead? I still think that it is a better investment.

Indeed it's looks not good for now because the price tends to decrease in Altcoins, but if it's already doing Altcoins trading it doesn't mean to sell it without thinking a long at nowadays.. it's good to keep holding and be patient until the price can moving up again, I think it will definitely going up again.. and I'm sure Altcoins trading will be crowded back in demand to many people.

I doubt. The trade would be between BTC and BTG which is not BTC and USD, right? Maybe it would be possible trading between BTG and USD but  not right away and we still don't know about the community's response whether they would support or not.

The current price trend of altcoins is like usual - unpredictable. The pump in bitcoin is happening and people are buying bitcoin before the fork. So I wold like to reiterate what I always tell people about trading which is patience. Because of the price pump of bitcoin and dump of altcoin you may seem to lose money from investing in altcoins. However after the fork bitcoin will dump and altcoins will rise. So just be patient and hold them for now.

Now the fork will be November and see how the alt react to it. If you do not continue to grow, this is a very alarming signal.

Its not good timing for selling alts, I sold mine before bitcoin rise and for now I'm holding bitcoins, I plan to sell before the peak and buy some cheap alts again. Alts are going down but they will recover, some of then will make good progress after new bitcoin fork, many people hold bitcoins now and I'm one of them, I wish to get more bitcoin gold coins, and only after that I plan to continue with trading.
Who missed to sell on time should wait now, or to risk and sell everything for bitcoins hold for couple days and let bitcoin to rise a bit more and then rebuy alts, how times passing this is more risky and less profitable.

I agree  that alt coins are in a very bad shape,  almost all of them are red and very unstable,  I am the person that going to sell all of my altcoins to buy btc,  it is not that I am waiting for the bitcoingold but I think for now it is more profitable to hold bitcoin and I believe in the next two months the  bitcoin price will keep on going

I think you should be ok after the forks are over. The same thing happened with bcash. After the fork ended, and people managed to dump their free coins, they then invested it back either into the main coin or into alts. So all the capital raised from these two forks, should then be tunneled back to BTC and alts. Selling now and buying BTC would still be a good option. After the forks are gone, you should analyze the situation again.

Altcoin for now yes it is in the very bad shape if you are trying to trade as of now but kindly wait in a next few months or after the hardfork that will happen everything will be back in green color but as of now that the price and the situation of some altcoin are in yhe red you must not to trade.

Those with good knowledge will never say that now is a good time to trade altcoin. Because bitcoin has a tremendous impact on the value of altcoin, bitcoin is in the process of being unstable, any changes made to it can cause altcoin to go down.

Traders prefer altcoins to make profit in less time. Now the scenario is different, that it's impossible to make short term earning investing into altcoins. OP, I guess you got into losses in buying altcoins because you always bought at the tip, not the dip. Buying altcoins is a good business. But you must know how to buy right. By the way, the so much publicized BTG was dumped by many yesterday at exchanges that listed it and made good money from it.

In actual it is a usual thing in bitcoin field , you can choose the history when the price of the bitcoin get high , and that results into down in the price of the bitcoin .
And also here the condition is same , here it happened because sometimes the demand get up more than what the sellers have in Thier Wallet and that needed to be complete by selling Thier altcoins and get btc to complete the demand , so it is a type of the reason to complete the demand .
Here I my self stopped my self to sell any altcoins , Because I know that it happens always with the increase of the amount of the btc and it happened only for those time interval until the price of the bitcoin get stable .
So just hold your altcoins and Don't sell .

Today most alts are going sharply up, after this another BTC fork story. This will continue for some time, alts will go back to previus levels.

i think we can waiting for more to see the altcoin price is going to go up but some of the altcoin is trying to reach their position back after btc price is down. i am curious about after the fork, how much the altcoin will increase and how long the altcoin can go back to increase. there is too much question in my head about the altcoin and i still waiting the time is come. but if we are still hold altcoin then i think we can expecting the altcoin is increase so it will a good time for us to sell the coins.

Yeah, having the same feeling with so many promising ICO's yielding nothing after hitting the exchange. Falling flat below ICO price because of some crazy bonus schemes entertained by them for Accredited Investors and some very early participants. Still in the Dumping phase.

In trading, you win some you lose some. The price is always unpredictable and it is bound to frequently go up and down.

There are some coins which are suitable for long term. With the upcoming forks, its hard to tell what would happen with the price. Learn from your losses and just continue to hold the coins you have left. Its price is bound to recover in the future. Instead of buying some BCG - I still think that a better investment is bitcoin. This is ideal for long term.

BTG was just a misery that came out like BCH and people fell in because they were in the crowd that was intended purely into making some extra money putting their Bitcoins at "stake". you are in a difficult situation. I think you'd better keep the altcoin not to lose much. if you sell all altcoin to get BTG if later the result will be balanced with your loss. you better saved the BTC that you have at this time to get some BTG

You haven't suffered any losses. At least if you still have these coins in your wallet. Losses are made only when you sell your coins, especially during the panic and dumping stage. Prices come and go, wait a week and they will be twice as much as they are now, wait another week and they may be 10 times lower. It is chaotic, but rather predictable market. You need to follow the news and keep an eye on bitcoin situation, especially now with forks coming. Any new regulation regarding ICOs or cryptocurrencies in general may also influence market. I think there are some altcoins who price may be passing through worst condition but i think we cannot put all the altcoin in same categories, because still there are so many altcoin which are still trading in a good position, they have a very good volume and in future we can expect that these coins will get more values because still they have good potential to increase more and more. In fact i have already invested a good amount of money in altcoin and still holding my investment hopping that it will really give me a good profit.

The exact same thing happened with BTC Cash, people dumped alts for BTC then got free BTC cash, they then dumped BTC Cash for BTC then bought back into alts. Another few weeks and most good alts will be up 10-50%. Go look at the alt market straight after BTC Cash happened.

You can hold the majority of your stash and focus on one or two bags and try to recover them. Look at the markets wisely and try to lower the breakeven point for you alts.

For example: you bought coin ABC at ATH for 1000 sats, it is now bouncing between 100 and 200. If you do some succeful trades in the 100-200 range you will end up with ABC coins that on average cost less than the 1000 sats.

Not at all. Back on those times that op did right this stuff. Most of altcoin in the market are on reds which i did decide to buy and go shopping on cheap prices which i do see a good opportunity for us to make money later on and now my assumptions are becoming true on where we do able to see most altcoins are pumping now. Adex has been performing weeks before the fork and the fork really made the price down for almost all of the good altcoins but now it seems like the altcoins market are lively again. What you did was a smart move, we know the price will still gonna rise so when the market is at dump we should be buying more so we can easily make money in just a short period of time.

It's not that bad, it's just very important for you to buy at the lowest low. This way you will be able to catch the best bounces. Its bad because of the scheduled Bitcoin Gold fork. But since its over now investors are flocking and going back to their favorite altcoins. don't try to continuously follow the market and react to it with every little change that is going on, this is a poor strategy and you'll always lag behind the rest in this way. Instead, make a good research on the coins you like and are interested, and buy a pretty big stack (preferably during the ICO) and stick with it! You can own BTC gold as well to hedge again any potential losses from your altcoins trades, but it's important to stick to your initial strategy and not sell whenever a fork or update will happen. It's normal that alts will be influenced after a BTC fork, but trying to make a profit all the time will end you up making non, it's really a thin line between discipline and believing in what you have invested your money in.

              I think selling it just to get some BTG would be your choice to made, but put aside that free coin from forking down bitcoin, think about your gain and profut, are you gaining because you wanted to sell? If not then its better not to sell it anyway, your first goal is to earn profits from your trades and not just panic selling just to get free coin but eventually in the end you are just losing sight from your main goal.

I think the slow dumping of alts will continue till the end of the year. Bitcoin has so many activities this year and being king, each time a news of bitcoin comes out alts take a dump.

Noobs will always panic when the market starts to drop, play long term and don't focus on day-to-day prices. If you would have sold after the BTC, ETH, LTC, DASH 80-90% dumps from a couple years ago you'd be angry you didn't hold. You either have to grow some balls, hold and expect a price rise eventually or sell out, and expect the price to drop.

Most of the altcoin now was totally down at the moment while bitcoin was in the middle of skyrocketing the value. So, my I advice to you if you have Waves, Eth, and Myst don't sell them but to hold them still on a long term then the rest of the altcoin which I didn't mention you must sell it all.

True, altcoin experiences a collapsed value condition. However, i use poloniex so i can use margin trading facility. So, i don't suffer too much loss.

I was wrong about Altcoins. I was assuming great return after fork, but still they drop. A bit recovery occured after fork but this did not meet my expectation. I am still holding a lot alts hope they will survive and give me good returns in November 

Can somebody explain what is bitcoin fork and bitcoin gold means? What are these? But on my opinion, just hold your altcoin and sell it when price increase. In the near future, top 5 altcoins will rise.

In November everyone will get there free BTG if they had Bitcoin at block 491407 and you need to have the private key. So maybe when that happens we will see Bitcoin going down a bit more and Altcoin rise again.

there is a correlation between the bitcoin price and alt price, more the bitcoin pump more the alts dump and when the bitcoin dump alts dump too :(

I think the alts will dump until the end of the fork so i think it's not the moment to alt trade and we do not know the effect of the fork does it pump the bitcoin or it dump or it stabilise we can't know what will happen so i think the better time to buy will be after the fork but that's my opinion

Don't lose hope because there are so many holders invest in altcoin like me. And each person on the trading has different opinion on this situation. Others said that altcoin would eventually fall, and someone says also that one of the most low cost like doge coin will increase by $1. and the others are sell her coins even if they are lose. to altcoin holder think positive who knows by the year of 2018 the value of all altcoin is continuing increasing.
  

Up and down is the nature of the market. It is right that altcoin are now in the high level price and buying altcoin in this sage may be caused a loss in the future but it doesn’t mean that business in altcoins is almost bad practice.

It's because there is another upcoming fork in November and people arn't sure how it will play out. (it might not end up with two chains but simply one bitcoin chain.)

People would like to get free coins and expecting a lot of those airdropped coins which are no different than any other altcoin, always follow where majority is heading but know when to exit. Just as in this case, this coin new BTG is waste of time and those who investing in other altcoins which at lest have road map and wallet, and proven integrity will be happy at the end of this year

Don't know, alts are in a good mood today after the fork. BTG fork went stable, price of bitcoin didn't changed that much as it did after BCH fork

If the prices are really high then I think a person must go with selling out some portion of his crypto coin because this will help him in earning some profits and if a rise is expected in the vale which is actually being predicted, waiting will be more beneficial. Bitcoin price has already started to show a reduction. Keeping the new fork in mind, I think buying more altcoins or simply holding on will increase the capital.

I think the better way to do is divide or budget your bitcoin. Keep some or hold some and invest some of it to altcoins that you think will recover its price. By doing that you will still have a profit and you will not regret. Entering cryptoworld is risky so we need to think wise.
