Title: Scammer - User: r3wt (Attempted extortion, sockpuppet)
Post by: bdub on June 10, 2013, 03:32:17 PM
r3wt (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=117142) appears to be a purchased account/sockpuppet of a group of accounts that are extorting people for feedback.

UserID: extortion was the main contact in this scheme and I have posted details on that here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230874.msg2430831#msg2430831

r3wt was one of 2 accounts that posted negative feedback claiming transactions that never occurred, saying I scammed them. The other was WikiLeaksLover, which ironically has negative feedback from r3wt.

After posting details of extortion's PM, the feedback was promptly removed.

I got this message a few minutes later:

i'm not sure who negged you from my account. apparently they were busy.

Edit:

Found details about r3wt selling their account.  Claims he bought it back though. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=226260.msg2411699#msg2411699

seen this a few days ago

http://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=14

maybe thereis more to this story...

Wow, nice find.....the feedback I received actually pertained to the post you linked to.  r3wt claimed I was the guy who loaned him money in the negative feedback.

Also if you read extortion's scammer thread that I linked in the OP, you'll see his last comment mentions scamming microguy (claiming I was this k4rx).

They all seem to be the same person, and I'm sure there are many more accounts.  I think D35TR0Y3R  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=83212)is probably part of this group too.

Just to note about the post in the OP, r3wt gave me his account in exchange for a 0.02BTC loan and he repaid 0.028BTC tomorrow (which seemed strange as it wasn't due for 2 weeks).  Originally the loan was supposed to be private, but apparently he left me a review  ::)

There was never a deal for me to purchase the account, I had the login briefly but he had full control of the account since 8th June.

[09:55:09] anoncoward: like i said your account isn't very valuable, I can do 0.02BTC if you really need it, but I can't do 3BTC
[09:58:25] r3wt: um...well I need more BTC than that to pay to namecheap
[09:59:00] r3wt: I can give you my forum account, WoW account, my email address, my eBay account, verified PayPal and a 3 letter domain as collateral for a 3BTC loan
[10:09:17] anoncoward: look dude, your shit is worthless and not worth near 3BTC and maybe even hacked. If you want a loan my offer is 0.02BTC for your forum account, please don't waste my time do you want it or not?
[10:09:29] r3wt: how long do I have to repay?
[10:09:39] anoncoward: as long as you need, interest is 20%/week
[10:09:59] r3wt: OK I am interested, can I have the 0.02BTC for 2 weeks ill pay you real soon i'm mining gldcoin and can pay you in the next few days
[10:10:19] anoncoward: OK, 0.02BTC for 2 weeks repay 0.028BTC
[10:10:42] anoncoward: repay address <snip> I need your account info first and I will have to change the password and email address, if you scam me i will dox you and you won't like what happens then

[10:11:23] r3wt: did it work? here is my address <snip>
[10:14:34] r3wt: did it work? here is my address <snip>
[10:19:48] r3wt: hello? send me the BTC or give me back my account!!!! I'm opening a scammer thread now
[10:20:36] anoncoward: sorry for the delay, BTC has been sent
[13:10:07] r3wt: Received thx, I should have most of it repaid in the next few days

How does that work?  You give him full control of his account even though he is using it as collateral?  Doesn't make much sense to me.

It seems to me that if someone's account were being used as collateral on a loan, the loan issuer would have changed the password once they received possession of it as collateral.  Otherwise, what is stopping the account owner from just changing the password and keeping the loan.

You have misread. I changed the password & he was locked out but he got his account back on the 8th when he paid up the loan.

I guess I just misunderstood when he paid back the loan because you said this:

Just to note about the post in the OP, r3wt gave me his account in exchange for a 0.02BTC loan and he repaid 0.028BTC tomorrow (which seemed strange as it wasn't due for 2 weeks).  Originally the loan was supposed to be private, but apparently he left me a review  ::)

Tomorrow is the 11th of June, so I wasn't understanding how he had access to his account since the 8th.  I guess you must have meant something else.

rewt requested a loan from me, a few days ago. I chose to ignore after seeing some of his posts. He was going to offer a domain & his account for collateral.

He was asking for .35  and was going to pay back in 2 months.

no. i think i may have sent you a pm before about kr4x. i was confusing you with the user "dubs" who im convinced is kr4x. i think i also removed the neg given to you under my account as well. go ahead and leave your negative rep up. doesn't bother me. i don't trade on here all that often anyway. the only trade i have made on here was with just_me. 8k GLD for .012 BTC. other than that i trade on cryptsy and mt. g

I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here.  I just wanted to know what time you regained control of your account.  Its pretty easy to just go back and look at the timestamp of your first post/PM.

Maybe you are misunderstanding what extortion is.  I was merely pointing out the inconsistencies in your story.

Either way, you're a scammer for sure and its important that people know that.

here, some references who will gladly tell you i am not a scammer:

Aosana-- built http://newbcoin.com for him. he still hasn't paid me but we are quasi-friends and he promises he will.

just_me--traded 8k gld with him. you can search his name on the forum and ask him about the transaction. he sent first and ipaid. it happened in four separate transactions. 2k at a time.

Boelens-- Alerted mods when his account was stolen by hackers. probably same group who took mine.

additionally i have built a faucet for numerous coins:

Stablecoin: http://stablecoin.me.ly

Digital Coin: http://dgc.u.gp

Alpha Coin: http://alph.a.gp

Infinite Coin: http://if.x.gg

GLD Coin: http://gldfaucet.biz.gl

Megacoin: http://megs4u.tk

Additionally i have built a search engine intended for the bitcoin community, though it never really caught on because of my lack of prestige and recognizability on this forum

http://n-j.in

i also build captcha's:

http://n-j.in/ezcaptcha/

Why would i throw all that away to make a few quick bucks scamming? Now that i think about it it is becoming obvious that i am being singled out by my attacker because i blew the whistle on him when he stole Boelens account and was attempting to scam for 26-32 BTC. i'm not sure of the amount but you can look back in the forum and see that it happened.

i admit it. there was no hacker that hacked my account. i was trying to scam bdub and got caught.extortion was my account too and so was wikileaks lover. all i can say is that i had zero bitcoins and felt like i was never going to get any going around to the faucets everyday collecting bitcents. good thing i got out of the scamming business, i would have never made any btc if i had continued down that path. i apologize for my trespass and accept the scamtag for being untrustworthy on multiple occasions.

people i scammed/tried to scam
bdub .01 btc(extortion account)--never collected
igotspots .4 btc(gascoin)--unpaid, working on mining .4 btc to repay him
microguy 6500 gld(gld faucet)--repaid
Vlad2Vlad 100k NUG's(tried to take them from him)--returned and apologized
garr255(bid one of his auctions to 50,000 usd on bitmit and cancelled the orders)--apologized

r3wt, how old are you?  Those scams that you did were worth such little money... it seems that you have the tech knowledge to actually help someone out and get paid.  It would be easy for you and earn you much more than those silly little scams.

You don't seem like a bad person, so hopefully you turn the corner and stop letting the greed get to ya!

I don't think your rep on here is very tarnished.  You really only "scammed" people who were trying to make shit coins to rip other people off... and you paid them all back.

You are good in my book, I just like bustin' your balls.

you speak the truth, but that doesn't make me  saint. i really was dead set on ripping people off when i arrived here, mostly out of frustration that i couldn't mine anything with my cpu

At least you are honest.  That makes you better than a lot of people who have started down a similar path.

Plus, you can code, so you are a valuable asset... should also help make you rip people off easier in the future if you want to go down the TradeFortress road.

Not saying you could pull off a multi-million dollar scam, but you should set your sights higher than a handful of premined shit coins :D

i got a family. I'm going the legit way, according to Vern running an exchange is extremely profitable. I would rather have a stable income than pulll off a multi million scam and look over my shoulder forever.

Of course it is extremely profitable.  Everytime anyone makes a transaction you make money.  No clue how many transactions Cryptsy has each day, but it's gotta be making Vern quite a bit of money.

almost 25,000 USD a day in fee's, of course, running the site, paying lawyers, and staff takes a sizeable bite out, but he's definitely not starving. i'll be happy if i can get to a point where i can have my own apartment, pay my bills, eat good food, and provide for my family better than what i am presently.

Well good luck to you!  If you know how to get it accomplished then it seems like a very good start-up that is legit.

If you ever need help with the business side of things, let me know.  I have an accounting degree and tons of experience with the books.
