Hello everyone
I have around 2400$ and I have the idea to invest them by buying bitcoin. I plane for a long term investment (few months to year). Best time to buy BTC and best strategy (I heard  about a hard fork will happen soon) ? Other ideas to invest this amount of money for the indicated period of time ?

Wait for pullback and buy it. Btw dont expect low prices than 5000$ before december and try to buy low as much as you can. Dont forget the first rule of trading: Buy low,sell high ;)

if you have some questions about the fork, then why dont you ask them on the official thread of the segwitx2 fork? Anyway, we are expecting to see it rising on the next days, so if you buy right now, it can rise a little bit more before the fork is done (by november 11th).
And you all know that the price ussually goes down once that a fork is realized, so why dont you buy right now and then try to speculate with the price?

Well the price of bitcoin are quiet expensive and it will surely go down so i suggest to do cost averaging so that you will lessen the cost and maximize your profit, btw that is a good idea to invest on bicoin for long term you will surely make good money in the future.

A good buying price would be below $5500, best if below $5400. If you are new, I recommend buying $200 worth of BTC first, and then buy more when the price drops, or sell some when the price rises.

For Bitcoin, you would have to trust your own judgement too, and only ask for feedback and advice to confirm it. I would say go with your gut feeling, and if your investment savings are very important, then I would spend less, and more carefully. Good luck!  :D

I also think that it is possible to see the price of bitcoin touching the barrier of $5,000 in coming days, so I think it would be a good idea to arm yourself with a little patience and wait for that moment to invest. Remember that one of the characteristics of a successful trader is patience.

Bitcoin's market is unpredictable these days. You can wait until price drops to $5000-$5800 or you can buy Bitcoins right now with what you have as your idea is to invest for several months or even a year or so. I think you have to wait below 6000 $ value before you go and convert your money into bitcoin. Long term investment is a right choice for your investment but there is no guarantee for some profit. You already know its very riskyinvestment right? For now gather some patience because it will be a long way to go.

Don't think twice about investing now and do not expect that it will have a very deep dump for the next months like 20 - 40% dumps to its prices the usual dump ranges from 4 - 11% instead it will pump to $7000 - $9000 probably next year so now is the time to buy bitcoins and wait till it reaches its promising prices next year before it is not affordable due to its very high price per 1 bitcoin.

There is no doubt that invest BTC right now. Its price was predicted $20,000. Besides, there will be a new hard fork, it means you will be receive a new coin free.

You have a nice amount for a start and this what I usually when I want to invest. Whenever I want to buy btc when the chance of dip in price is not so sure just like now due to the up coming 2x. I usually buy during the weekend cause the capital market will be close that time and the price will be down. I think it will be better if you split the money into 2 and use 1 part to buy this weekend while you keep the remain to buy incase there's dump in price anytime.

In other case, if long term, this much is enough to gain profit for long term.

You could just bought yesterday and now you could be in a profit of 5% at least, because bitcoin was $6100 yesterday and now it is upto $6400 each btc, you should try to buy as soon as possible, and yes, a new fork is coming and it seems that bitcoin will keep rising during the next days until a few days are left for the fork to happen.
Just buy, you will never regret of an investment in bitcoin, it is always going up and there is no way that you could lose your money.

well only god knows what will happen in bitcoin maybe all of us  will free to predict but all are only prediction and no one really knows about bitcoin in the future.but if you believe in bitcoin all by yourself you can invest on it .but gou have to prepare your self on the different situation because everything in cryptocurrency is  really in a win or loose status.if you dont win you loose if you dont loose you earn that was it.so then if you are planing to invest btc be ready .

those people who have an ability of patience then i think they are best for long term business. in long term business special term is that there is very less chance of loss and maximum chance of profit. so if you can invest a big money now in bitcoin and wait for a long time then in future after long time the rate and development of bitcoin will be very and very high so you can earn more and more profit at that time.

Bitcoin prices are high now, I do not think you should buy it at this time. I thought it would be the highest at $ 6500 and would drop. However, there is no sign that it will decrease

Since you have heard about the hard fork it's better to buy bitcoin now with that amount so that you can have free coin after the hard fork. You have chosen the best coin to invest with your money, don't think of any other alt coin to invest with for long term investment but if you insist and you do really want to buy some alt coin, it's quite good to buy alts today too as they are mostly negative in price.

You need to prepare before the upcoming fork will take place, to buy when there is a dip in the price, and keep calm, as you said its for a long term investment. But note: you need to buy with the lowest price you can, which is the first rule of trading.

the fork was already finished and for me, it was not so much of a fuss. It turned to be only a dump and it did not even take so long to be in the market. Time to time the price is increasing but it is not always. After the peak price wait for a couple of hours then you buy btc if the price goes down. But if it is not going down, then just buy. Assuming that you really want long term then it is ok to buy now than later.

this is a tricky one tbh, Bitcoin is on a little run at the moment and up over $6500
so buying at such a high is not preferable but if it goes much higher and corrects itself
after the fork at a value still higher than that current price you will have missed out.

Well, at the current market value of bitcoin one need to apply wait and see approach in case there will be a serious correction of the value of bitcoin any moment from now. Although there are speculation that bitcoin value will reach $7000 before end of the year if not $10000.

It is indeed very interesting what will happen next (besides other due to latest fork development) - for me its for sure that the price of btc will drop again (for a period).

Right now value of bitcoin approaching 7000 dollar and i do not think this is the right time to buy bitcoin but if your money is amount that you can afford to loose go invest it since bitcoin value is continuous increasing and mich better to have bitcoin in the future than nothing.

It is difficult to give an exact price to buy at because no one can say with certainty what will happen with the price, right not bitcoin is very bullish so I would expect a downturn in price soon. If you plan to hold for a few years then you shouldn't have to worry too much about maybe paying a couple hundred dollars more.

As I see how bitcoin works as an investment, I think it is good time to buy bitcoin after a badnews like forks and bans on it because the price becomes too low since many people are panic selling then enjoy it after the price comes back or wait until your preset value have been reach.

If you want to invest for long term, no need to worry about current price, even though bitcoin still on rally right now, reach new ATH.
But, if you want to wait until bitcoin price drop back after correction, you may wait until the end of this month or after hard fork, bitcoin may drop to $5400 again. Honestly, no one could predict bitcoin price in the future, even in the next week. So, it's your call to invest right now or waiting for another correction.

long term investment in bitcoin is very beneficial as compare to short term because the rate of bitcoin is increasing with time and when you invest small amount of bitcoin now then in future it will give you a big money. so long term investment is beneficial but it need a quality of patience.

Long term investment is to have learn more on patient to be wait. If it is a small amount of bitcoin now, but later you'll see the changes, and it will become higher and it will give you more money to invest. So it's a part of a quality patients of type.

I have invested in bitcoin for long term and for my future needs and desires. My dream is that I want to build my own house and have a luxury car and a well steeled business for my children. That’s why I have invested in bitcoin and I have earned a lot of money till date because the price has already crossed 6000 dollars limit, and the near future I am sure that it will hot 10000 dollars limit. I will wait for that time.

do you also consider those newcomers that investing as well from time after time, i think its just a simple cycle so even there's a correction that will happen the forces of rise up will continue, adoption and more popularity for this investment attract people who's new into this system and i'm positive that even those early holders sold their btc supports will be there and it will just rises even more.

I am myself planning on to invest into BTC for a long term. Try to collect as much BTC as you can because the later you buy the more price you have to pay for it. Although the fork is near, it shouldn't matter since you will probably want to buy it as soon as you can.
Buy the BTC and store it in a secure wallet whose private key you own. Keep a backup of the private key and store it in a safe place.
You can either not bother about the fork or wait for the fork to finish and receive the free coins and increase your capital amount.

I always invest maximum 50% of my portfolio to alts. Another 50% I am holding in Bitcoin.

I was investing some of my money into bitcoin because i have seen this potential that this price will going to go at $7000 soon. I am currently waiting for that fork to come and waiting what will going to happen the price and see if i can sell it at their ATH again. But the risk their is really really high that you should be looking the price every hour or even in every minute that's almost pressuring my brain whether it is going to go up or not. Lucky to invest it in a long term so the pressure is much lesser than in short-term traders.

Obviously, the best strategy is to wait for a nice dip before buying it. However, bitcoin price already reaching new ATH now because of the looming Segwit2x again so that totally eliminates your options.

So If I were you, I will just have to wait, because you can't do anything about the market price today. Wait till the Segwit2x completes and see if the price goes down a bit before entering the market. We can't say for certain though how much dip its gonna be, just be prepared and continue to monitor the price and jump on the first opportunity to get it. Goodluck.

I guess people are investing into Bitcoin for various reasons. Some assume that Bitcoin will be the currency of the future. Some people think that the value of Bitcoin will continue to increase so it is worth it. I myself only use the price of Bitcoin because the price is always up and I can get profit if I sell when the price rises. To invest Bitcoin, we have to be patient for a very long time, that is a few years.

That's why, we call it a long-term investment. Because indeed we have to wait for a long time to be able to profit significantly.

I do not think you should buy it at the moment when its value is too high, I think you should buy it when the event hard fork end is the best time.

You are a lucky man when having $2400 now. It is a good time to invest in Bitcoin. It will continues rise in the future. Buying Bitcoin now and gain at least 50% profit after 6 months.

It is always promising and it is best to not let greed and emotion rule us sometimes. I have made several mistakes in the past trying to see if there would be a dip and then I missed the best dip ever at that moment I could have bought it. That is one thing with bitcoin just as you have said, it is unpredictable and as long as you understand its value and that what you are buying is still very tiny to what it would be in upcoming years, then you should be good to go at any moment.

It depends on what you plan to do with your coins, and your mental stability. If you plan to use your coins for trading purposes at some point, you'll be exposing yourself to very high risks, especially when you don't know much about this market. Trading is really hard even the basic. First wait till the price dump before you buy coins. You're too late If you bought a couple of btc when the price did dump under $3000 I'm really sure you have a lot of money now. holding bitcoin for a long term is more advisable than holding your coins for a short term.

Maybe try to wait until bitcoin price goes down a little bit and then you can buy some bitcoin for you to invest in a long term, so you can gain more profit if you will wait for the price to fall down and invest all your $2400 into bitcoin. Maybe at least wait until 5 years, for sure it will gain profit.

Bitcoin price has reached over $ 7300 and I think people should not invest at this price because after November 16 Bitcoin prices will have a strong adjustment and sure Bitcoin will drop rapidly after that time.

At the moment I would invest in altcoins because the price of bitcoin has risen so much that it is overshadowing the other currencies.

I ate investing in some altcoins, when the values of these coins go up exchange for bitcoin, I think it will have a greater profit in the long term.

As you are eating now, investing in older currencies like Eth, Doge, Litecoin, after a while go reading projects and when they are interesting buy some of the coins that the projects offer, usually in these projects you can win a lot or lose a lot, but gain ratio is always satisfactory.

if you are going to start investing for the long term, I think this time is the same time. bitcoin will continue to grow. the increasing market demand and the fewer supply of bitcoin to a few million only then bitcoin prices will continue to grow beyond today. but if you're still half-hearted I think you can wait until after the hard fork is completed this mid-month. you will get two possibilities, you can get the bitcoin price lower than the current or rather you will see a higher bitcoin price.

If you want to invest long term. Ideally you should invest in ETH. I evaluated the potential ETH. Its price will also increase as the current price of bitcoin

Lol, I would advise him not to do so now cause price seems or be at its peak rate, so he better waits and see if things will change for his good after the November 16th hard fork, cause I believe price might fall by then, which will be a very big disappointment for those that invest now. So I say he should wait till then.

I sincerely the poster of this thread took a right decision buying bitcoin. I told some folks earlier this year to by bitcoin but some of them were saying  bitcoin is already pricy of which i beg to differ. That was when it was $1000 with the winklovv twins event. them it became 2000, 3000,5000 and thought it could never rise above that. Now see where we are today. Bitcoin is definately suited for long term investment.

And that is always the problem most time when waiting for too much dips.
Bitcoin is always on the move, unpredictable and the market can decide to do anything at anytime as long as one is holding for a long time. No shit looking for too much dips when you cannot predict the future and with the new fork coming, who knows if this is another attempt to reach one other crazy ATH.

It looks like you are too late now because the price of bitcoin is going to the moon. Its good though that you are planning to invest into it long term, but I don't think that right now is a good entry point. Just wait for the price to at least go down before buying bitcoin. I think the best rate to buy bitcoin is around $6000, but then again, maybe the price can still go down a little. There's nothing you can do right now but to wait, so that you can at least maximized your profits when you buy in dips. Have a little patience and just wait after the Segwit2x activation around Nov. 16.

Looks like current prices are too high to suggest yo invest into bitcoin t this rate. Also there is no minimum at this point because bitcoin prices are continually developing and there is no downfall at. I've heard about several websites that promises enormous return in just a few days and I'm aware of it. But I tried Bitcoin Invest (http://bitcoininvest.cf) putting just half BTC. I suppose you need to wait for the most fork. People are going to be scared of sharing bitcoin by parts and they will sell their coins, the price will fall and it is going to be more profitable to buy bitcoin for you ;) I also think that long term holding brings the most profit and a year of waiting can bring you the most profit and longer holding as well. With bitcoin at least certain time needs to be given to make it at profitable, or else the user needs to have good good trading skills to actively involve into regular buying and selling of bitcoin with different trade pairings available. Good plan to invest with bitcoin, but this moment is bad for buy it. Bitcoin price to high and has stable volume, that's is not good situation for your good plan. you are a bit late to buy btc, if seen now the price of btc has experienced a very unusual pump. but you just need to wait a little dump to buy bitcoin and do hold, I am sure by the end of the year bitcoin price will be higher.

What I did was I bought btc for 100$ with 6000$ ea. As a newbie I already earned about 10$+ and Im planning to sell this before the fork would end. Not bad for me for I can use this to buy alts before the fork would end so their prices still dip. For your 2.4k$ you can earn about 500$ so not bad for the two weeks fork coz after the fork btc price would dip and if you are not willing to hold your btc for a long period of time, you would probably lose your investment.

The awaited fork of November didn't happen as expected and that supposed to have affected bitcoin market value negatively but instead its value went very high and now bitcoin value stands at above $9400 with the expectation that it will reach $10,000 before end of December this year.

You got it right mate as the much awaited fork of last time went the other way and went against the speculation and in turn increased the value of bitcoin and to be honest now it will become bit difficult to buy bitcoin in larger volume due to it's price hence i have already started to invest in alt coins and few selected tokens.
