Post by: youroz on October 30, 2017, 10:14:38 PM
Hello everyone,

Today ive checked my wallet and everything is gone! i have to say my computer is fresh it is reinstalled yesterday and didnt download anything weird. i have the password in my mind and the peer code on paper!

my wallet was electrum, im almost sure electrum or the gouverment has stolen my money becouse they know exactly everything and the adress where it has send to has over 10+ million euro in bitcoins traded

this is realy frustrating and i lost my trust in bitcoin

My bitcoin adress is 12kBXoEfwZiv2vRk77eLnzb9SRtRJeTSnm

transaction id is 5b1b7b86b62b3e4aa5aa3c24daeefb0c484bcda4f795c9d3ddc1fe8f596d6f1d

just to make clear, i know i did not click any phishing site i have knowledge how to make these and how to make a virus that remotes a computer and bypass antivirusses

you have a silent phishing site that you go on and get a virus immediately without clicking anything
and you have a virus that goes to your computer by running a java script and i know 100% sure this is not the case unless its electrum or the gouverment

You really sure that you never downloaded anything on the internet that's suspicious? Do you remember if there are link that you have clicked and required some information regarding your private key? I think you are a victim of phishing. As you said that your bitcoins has been sent to a wallet that has 10 million euro's worth in bitcoin and that's for sure an exchange, so whomever the hacker is probably sent those coins to an exchange. Please provide more info, like your wallet address.

Did you ever submit private keys to anyone or accidentally send your private keys instead of your wallet address? Try going to blockchain.info and type in your address to see if there is a balance. Your wallet may not be in sync with the blockchain.

I think you are a victim of phishing, maybe you are careless when opening your wallet and not delete your private key again? or you fill out a strange application that allows you to give your personal key to the application?
and it turns out the hacker was not just stealing ETH wallet only, wallet electrum and even all the wallets. very evil .
I'm sorry. maybe in the future you should be more careful again.

Yes, it doesnt matter if you provide to us the transaction id and your bitcoin wallet, there is no way that we can recover those bitcoins because you should know that bitcoins are untraceable, so we can not recover those coins again.
It is your fault, you should try to improve your security and try to be more updated about that , there are a lot of ways to make your wallet much more secure than now, you should try to make your own research through your own wallet..

This is huge amount of money, I hope you can get your money back OP.
You should have check everything before reinstalling your OS.
Its not easy to earn money though.

There are some bounty seekers whom can be hired to try and trace the thief. You need to have some basic information though at least how were u attacked. If it was a RAT into your computer, some reverse hack can be done and bring a possibility of tracing the hacker. Same goes for phisihing, or if you click a link.

In your case, you are not even aware how you got attacked, that will make it much more difficult.

sorry for your loss buddy.

Unfortunately he is never ever going to retrieve all that money and that's what sucks about the whole thing,  this anonymity issue is why I really don't like bitcoins in some instances. Because we can catch this thief and others who have been stelling other people's bitcoins.

I do not thnk you should be sad. Because obviously, your Bitcoins don't matter to you that much anyway. Or not that important to you. Because if your bitcoins were so important to you, then you never would have lost those bitcoins. So don't be sad. You are the one responsible for your bitcoins and not anyone else. If they were precious to you, you should have been more careful with everything you do.

Oh man, maybe you got into a phishing site and have given your private key. Or maybe you're one of those who click the link to MEW from an email which is actually leading you to a phishing site. Always look for that MYETHERWALLET LLC (US) certificate right beside your address bar just to make sure you're visiting the legit site.

You might be a victim of a phising website, I just wonder how were they able to get your password. It might be a keylogger secretly installed on your PC. better have it reformatted.

Your BTC was sent to 1NBK7YkQRM39h2Qx3KR6Cd8vUmC1ztZ37c   which had 0.19653048 BTC.You can chase it from there.

It's not a good idea to blame Electron, or Skype. If anything, blame Internet Explorer, Windows and poor internet sanitation.

i am curious with people which have more than 2 btc or more and they just save the bitcoin in their computer, I only think that why they don't save their bitcoin in hardware wallet or paper wallet so its more secure than computer with connected with internet. if they thinking that bitcoin is really expensive to them, I think they must save in the safety places like I mention above and they need to protect their bitcoin from thief. I think in future, there will be many people is losing their bitcoin because of they don't give protection for their own wallet.

I think its either you go to some phishing site or you didnt know you downloaded some files that has a malware, think of it when does your bitcoin really disappeared before or after you reinstall your computer you will have the clues their, its really impossible that they can easily enter to your wallet because you have your information on your own. I also suggest look for some help to those experts in tracing those thiefs so you can retrieve your bitcoin if they can do it.

There's a big chance that you mistakenly publish your privkey to someone else, maybe you got phishied, or just signing up to a fishy site. That's why you need to atleast have some sort of paid internet scanner.
and at this point, there's nothing you can do

Chasing stolen BTC can be a thing, but if the thief exchanging it to random exchangers that don't need KYC, it's useless.

Sorry for you losses. But I don’t think the government stole your BTC. Until now, there is no reports of electrum stealing BTC as well. Did you connect to public WiFi?

I see that you mention you use Skype and Team viewer. Did you receive any files or connect to screen sharing with anyone?

Perhaps you can engage an expert to check your computer for possible malicious files that infected your computer and from there investigate the source of hack.

that's too bad, sad to hear that your Bitcoins were stolen, I hope you'll somehow retrieve it, let this event be a lesson to us. Always be careful in our wallet, only open your wallet in secured terminal/place, you can't trust anyone but yourself so never give your private keys to anyone and lastly try to install some protection just to be sure.

I am really sorry. Never click any mails of wallets they could be phishing site to steal your keys. You said that you didn't download anything wrong, but sometimes even when you click just 1 link you can be infected. This is internet there is nothing we can do against it we can only be smart and never click any of these links. You can also use malwarebytes premium it safes you from infecred links, but on phishing sites. I hope that you will get your coins back. Take care !

That is a sad news and I am sorry for your loss, I think you should hire someone or put a bounty to trace who stole your Bitcoin, giving 20% of your stash is good enough to attract bounty hunters to trace that bitcoin.  Besides, it is already lost and sharing 20% of it just to recover the 80% is favorable to your situation.
This must be a lesson to all of us.  We should always be vigilant about internet stuff and do not just download anything without verifying if its clean or not.

My guess is that you are a victim of phishing. Somewhere, sometime, you must have indicated your wallet address and then when they checked it, showing it has some decent balance in Bitcoins, they decided to siphon it off to their own wallet. You cannot easily accuse the government of stealing such relatively little amount. With the possibility that electrum stole it, I guess that has also equal probability.

How it’s possible is that bitcoin can be stolen because it’s confidential and you can invest here or you can do your daily trade here without any fear and everyone have its password so no it’s not going to be stolen by any one so I believe in bitcoin and I will suggest to invest here in bitcoin because bitcoin is trust worthy.

the question is how did they guess my password and peers... its fresh installed computer peers is on paper and the password in my mind i realy do think the gouverment is stealing bitcoins ive saw already some videos from other people with the same problem  pleas dont lose your money and dont invest big

What exactly do you mean by guessing "password and peers"?
Your government has no ability to steal your coins. Doesn't matter which government you are talking about.
Yes, secret authorities are in charge of 0-day exploits.. but none of them cares about your coins.
You probably got a malware somehow to your pc. It may be due to a cracked windows version.. those mostly are infected already.
Or you may plugged in an usb stick which was plugged in on another machine already? This is also an possible way of infecting your pc.

I grow tired of the high and mighty people on here saying how its their fault, weather or not they laxed on security, did they sign the transaction? No. Doesn't get them their coins back, but they DIDN'T do it. Even those who had secured their private keys were hit by stolen coins when the RNGs were faulty and leaked the private keys from nothing more than signed transactions from the blockchain, as value k was reused. Even if they had been used for transactions on a hardware wallet, a faulty slip up in the RNG or an accidental re-use of k would render even those vulnerable.

Don't get cocky and have some compassion for crying out loud, hes just lost over £100k. Thats more than many will ever see in life savings. This is one thing that will hamper bitcoin adoption, people like this. Two of my friends read posts like this and decided to stick with fiat. A bit like saying someones fault they got robbed for not realising a yale lock wouldn't keep them out. And your private keys may be secure now, but you never know, so don't get cocky, and certainly do not store your funds in a single wallet. If someone REALLY wanted your keys, they would get them, see $5 wrench attack. Legacy wallets are also not quantum computer safe, either.

No system is 100% secure, even older trezor wallets if you had possession of them could be hacked into via an exploit that has been used successfully, and how many non updated trezors are currently in vaults? No system is 100.00% secure, so again, don't get cocky.

As for this guy, did you enter you seed anywhere where you could claim 'free bitcoin gold' etc, or did you download the real electrum, there are some fake electrums out there that swipe coins, did you download it from electrum.org? If you downloaded it from anywhere else, chances are it is a fake.

Sorry to hear of your loss £100k+...

I am very sorry about what happened to your bitcoins. Why did you not create more than one wallet? In case your wallet is hacked, you still have another one. Plus, you should have been more careful when you knew that there were hackers out there.

So to be more cautious, do not click on any suspicious link. Do not download anything suspicious. Do not give your information to anyone else, even your trusted friends. Download a good anti-virus, and create more wallets. Your bitcoins are gone. But that is not the end of the world. Cheer up!

The hacker might sent the stolen Bitcoin money to a bitcoin mixer website to hide the transaction trail.

Its to much hard find out who stole your coins. Since the bitcoin is Untraceable and not be traced so there's no way to reach for the victim . But i can give you some tips to prevent being hacked. Actually you were using online wallet which can be hacked easily .I suggest you to spend some money to buy hardware wallet. Few dollars can secure your wallet and your coins forever.

So out of all the whole population of your country, you are the lucky person that got hacked by your government. Honestly, how? Just how. Because if you created the wallet in a fresh computer and assuming that you generated the keys without connecting to the Internet, I have zero idea how would they get your keys even if we assume that they have some shady activity going on in partnership with your country's ISP. The keys were made offline so there's no way it was sent to the Internet.

Either someone hacked into your computer like your brother or sister, or you got phished, or you just forgotten that you sent the money to some website. A wallet/address with that much transaction is not just a person, it's a website. It's probably a bitcoin mixer if we assume that you actually got hacked. It can also be just a trading site. Since the deposit address of your account in trading site and the withdrawal address will be different. Nevertheless, the guy clearly knew what he was doing and made sure that there will be no trail in blockchain to trace him. Regardless, you can't do anything about it. Your coins are never going back. There's no point thinking about it anymore, move on and do better this time.

My bitcoin adress is 12kBXoEfwZiv2vRk77eLnzb9SRtRJeTSnm

transaction id is 5b1b7b86b62b3e4aa5aa3c24daeefb0c484bcda4f795c9d3ddc1fe8f596d6f1d

https://btc.com/0000000000000000008edd67fe98035967b1a82957e6a474051e5f926a64d209 here u can see the transactions over 10 million

just to make clear, i know i did not click any phishing site i have knowledge how to make these and how to make a virus that remotes a computer and bypass antivirusses

you have a silent phishing site that you go on and get a virus immediately without clicking anything
and you have a virus that goes to your computer by running a java script and i know 100% sure this is not the case unless its electrum or the gouverment
Is this actually possible? I am now afraid leaving my cryptos in my online wallet. I think i have to start thinking hardware wallet.

It's because you reinstalled a fresh Os that is the reason why,
This happen to me before with my dogecoin pc wallet and I lose every
dogecoins. It is best to store your coins on a trusted online wallet.

You are 100% have leaks somewhere in your security.

You are really hacked by anonymous person because our technology is very upgraded into a new one from the others.  It can be possible that many things here in internet can be hacked by any one so be vigilant and be careful on what are you doing.

Never enter your private keys in a suspicious site or don't let anyone see your private password coz it may harm your feelings. just track down the transactions and help to report it. goodluck!

I just checked my Electrum balance because it's been awhile since I checked it ---> it's still there.

I guess there was an exploit introduced into the Electrum clients several months back and if the client was downloaded within that specific window of time then it's possible that that is the problem in this case as well.

Here's a different but interesting Electrum hack that just happened last month: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7435zs/hacked_using_electrum_wallet_293_windows/

It's possible that the victim did not have a virus or malware on his computer and there was no attacker stealing his private key.

It could be that someone just 'discovered' the private key as part of this project:   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1573035.0
and https://lbc.cryptoguru.org/about

What this project means is that the wallet software did not generate the private key in a truly random way.
This could be the result of incompetence/ignorance or maliciousness.

Unfortunately i don't think there is a way to link a privatekey with the wallet software that generated it.
So we'll never know who the bad actor is.

I think you accidentally post it online but I can say that is a lesson to you now that you should keep it in a private offline place, I mean in a hard disk, note book and etc. that can keep your private key if your using myetherwallet .
