Getting Started:

1. Start up cosmoscoin-qt, wait for it to load, then exit.
2. Put cosmoscoin.conf (see sample file above) in your c:/users/**yourcomputername**/Appdata/Roaming/CosmosCoin
3. restart cosmoscoin-qt, and you should connect and sync.
4. For solo mining, launch cgminer or the mining program you use and begin mining.
      cgminer ex: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o localhost:19991 -u **yourusername** -p **password** (without **)

How hard would it be to edit P2Pool to run CosmosCoin?

About as hard to edit it for any other coin. I think you just have to state the genesis block and the default ports somewhere.

trying to get a stratum pool setup, but unfortunately following BigVern's advice for BOT (also a PoW/PoS hybrid) doesn't seem to be working for this coin.  Lots of accepted shares, but winning ones don't seem to be submitted to the network.  Will keep digging into it and see.

Take the port, username, and password from that conf file and use them with cgminer

Wow there was just a huge jump in difficulty.

Still solo mining with a system that has 1 GH/s or higher would probably be fairly stable imo.

Seems like this coin is dead after the last difficulty jump, not getting any confirmations and my mined shares are not maturing.

The block 7887 can't be find out, the mining process has been stucked, can someone help me to find out why?

I've found the block several times but its been rejected, I don't know why its happening though. Maybe try pushing a checkpoint?

It started yesterday, when I got the checkpoint is too old message, so I tried to delete/redownload the blockchain to fix that.

1. Download CosmosCoin version 1.6
2. Delete all files located in %appdata%/CosmosCoin except the wallet.dat and CosmosCoin.conf
3. Open CosmosCoin-qt.exe and wait the download of the blockchain, check whether you still have the error or not

I started mining on that pool and found that to be somewhat unstable, so I cashed out all coins and switched to botnet. Lucky me!

1.Delete all files located in %appdata%/CosmosCoin except the wallet.dat and CosmosCoin.conf
2.Open CosmosCoin-qt.exe and wait the download of the blockchain, check whether you still have the error or not

im on linux, so i just have to redownload the blockchain?
Its syncing atm... lets hope its fast enough

delete the hidden folder named .cosmoscoin (with all the files) create again the cosmoscoin.conf with the addnodes ;) (in ubuntu is rm -R .cosmoscoin)

I would say that doing that deletes the wallet, its safe for a first installation but that isnt recommended for someone with any transaction already made!

Ive deleted the blockchain, its resyncing now... it takes a long time though..

The sync process is very quick, don't worry about that, one more thing, you can ignore the warning.

Hey Bro, CMC is based on Novacoin, it's pow+pos, if no stratum support, just make a pushpool with longpool support, and makesure it works properly.

Hey cosmoscoin, when are you going to fix stratum support for your coin? I contacted CMC pool operators, and they said either CMC daemon is broken with stratum (smalltimeminer) or not working as expected (statement on minar.cc). To have broken stratum for a new coin is not even funny. Please consider this situation. I for one can't normally mine with LP only.

Every CMC users, before doing any transactions ( include send money or receive money), please backup your CMC wallet at first, seems CMC network has been attacked, many orphan blocks.

If you need to resync your CMC block data, please use addnode=199.71.215.196 in you cosmoscoin.conf which was located in %appdata%/CosmosCoin , in fact, I suggest all CMC users, resync your block data with this node, this node has no orphan blocks.

About CMC version 2.0, we are still working on it, just be patient, you know it's not that easy to implement completely new features.

Problem Installing v1.9.1

After I got it installed the computer locked up, shutdown and rebooted itself. I had not yet finished syncing the wallet. Now when I launch the wallet it gives me an error message saying  "error loading blkindex.dat" .

Anyone have any idea how to fix this. The problem is that I already sent coins to a created address before  the whole wallet finished syncing. So now I have coins in limbo that I can't get to.   :(

This sort of abuse was bound to happen with so many low quality coins being released over the past few months. I think most of us fell for it, and mined them thinking every new coin would be profitable.  I expect the trend to reverse, and there will be a consolidation into higher quality coins like MEC and CGB.

I agree. I fell for CMC because of the high network speed and lack of issues from the start (minus the stratum stuff...but I primarily solo-mine so that didn't make a difference to me.) When CMC hit the exchange...I sold half of my holdings at nearly 0.01 BTC each (this is standard procedure for me as the prices are bound to be inflated initially just like most IPOs. This is especially true with scamcoins as the take advantage of this fact to build the pump even higher, dump, and get out.) Obviously I wish I would have sold all of them...but hindsight is 20/20.

The only coins I am mining are LTC, CGB, and MEC. The only coins in my portfolio are BTC, LTC, CGB, MEC, and FTC. Even if there is something else more profitable to mine, I no longer mine it -- not worth the hassle of exchanging it, paying the fees, risking creep, etc. I mine and buy coins I think have a legitimate future and hold them. It doesn't even make sense that new clone coins are released and people actually give them value -- why would they have any value if they don't bring anything new to the table?

Also wanted to add that ANC could have some potential as well -- I just chose not to hold it (had to draw the line somewhere.) Looks like I could have missed the boat there but only time will tell.

Don't waste your time with this coin, there hasn't been any further development since last year 2013 and the dev hasn't posted here since September 2013.

Also take a look at the buy orders for this coin which amount to very little.

Is this coin even functional at this point? I see it popping up with insane returns on Coinwarz and Coinchoose, but I downloaded the wallet and can't even sync. Are there any nodes that still work? At present, I tried the following with no success:
Sort of funny that apparently this coin is being tracked and traded on BTer, but finding any active nodes is difficulty/impossible. Someone needs to kill this coin off BTer and add something useful like VTC, MRC, MAX, DRK, or whatever.

line 14 should be commented out
line 15 remove the -mgw46-mt-sd-1_53 so the lines look like this

save it and remake this will make your wallet based on your mingw install and not force using the older version that was used to compile orginally.

I installed cosmoscoin-qt and dropped the CosmosCoin.conf file into my roaming folder.

On the config file what do the 'rpcuser' and 'rpcpassword' need to be so that the wallet can sync properly? 

I says it's 'Out of Sync' still and I"m not sure what to do.

Im having the same trouble but i gave up about a week ago to focus on bigger and better things like NXT. Im fairly confident that it has to do with the amount of nodes. I only have these ones myself. Im about to hunt for some more, ill make sure to post them whenever i get around to it. Juggling a lot right this moment.

SCAM COIN

I solo mined this coin for a week, found many blocks which all matured and were confirmed every time I go back to the wallet to see the balance all coins have disappeared.

These are not orphaned blocks. I suspect foul play here, code in the Qt to send your mined coins to the DEV's wallet

Same thing happened to me last night. I had well over 100 coins confirmed. I decided to let it run over night. By morning I had found another 70 coins, but my confirmed balance was only 14 (previously 100). In the transaction list, all the blocks that were previously confirmed all turned to the '?' mark and were labelled as 'Generated but not accepted'. Oddly enough there was still 1 transaction in the list that was still confirming ... for a value of .50 coins?!?!?

I thought maybe if I could get the coins to an exchange as soon as they are confirmed before they vanished into thin air I might get some return, I tried to generate a deposit address at Cryptsy as they are the only exchange for Cosmoscoin but it was broken, I contacted Cryptsy and this was their reply to the support ticket

CMC is online but is not able to generate deposit addresses.
This means users can still trade but deposits will not show up until wallet is fixed.

Yes, if you get the coins out of your wallet and to an exchange fast enough they will remain yours. There are other exchanges out there besides cryptsy that trade CMC.

Or as soon as the coins are mined, send them to another qt wallet. Im testing this now.

Okay... sending coins to an alternate qt wallet = bad idea. I sent two batches of 7 coins to an alternate wallet. They both confirmed right awayn and I had 14 confirmed. But before I could send them to an exchange, 7 of them went back to unconfirmed and have stayed that way permanently.

SCAM!!! I wont waste one more kh on this coin. I had 50 coins in the wallet then all of a sudden it went out of sink and started re downloading the chain and all the coins and transactions disappeared..

None of them are! The wallet keeps going out of sync. It's best not to bother with this coin. The creator's said on December 1st that they were working on a new wallet that would solve all problems and still nothing!

All the coins mined disappear from your wallet and go either to the dev's wallet which I suspect or the person who has controls of the blockchain with 51%

I know this network has problems, so I'm going to try to fix it. I've purchased CMC from Cryptsy but I have to wait 30 days before my client starts staking. If anyone has between 350 to 5000 CMC in their wallet, with sufficient confirms (last transaction has 10000+ confirms) I will buy the wallet.dat file from you, and pay you 150% of the price you would get at Cryptsy.

If you have less than 350 CMC, or more than 5000 CMC, or more recent transactions, we may still be able to work something out. PM me.

You have way too much trust in other people. Im only telling you this because if you try to make a deal like that you will most likely get burned.

It's an acceptable risk. Being able to stake immediately will help me stabilise the network a lot sooner. I'm keen, but not entirely stupid: I'll be transferring funds away from that wallet over time to prevent them from being double spent by the original owner.

So anyone got some CMC handy? I'm doing this for everyone, not just myself.

Anyone? I've been mining with a modest amount of power for nearly 48 hours, and every single block has been orphaned. I haven't been able to mine and hold a single coin in that time. Not one single coin. Just 2000+ orphaned blocks. This coin is impossible to mine because there are massive corrections that reverse every PoW block.

I know what is happening and I know how to fix it, but I need to be able to stake.

I'd rather get to work fixing it now, before it ends up delisted. bter have already frozen deposits. If I have to wait until the middle of September before my own newly purchased funds start staking there's a risk that Cryptsy may have delisted it by then.

If you have CMC, let's help save it!

Unfortunately i joined right when this coin went south so i was never able to mine any. I doubt ill even be able to sync up now. I dont think the block explorers work so for all we know there could be multiple forks in the chain.

You never know, I had no issue syncing and was able to withdraw from Cryptsy.

The main problem CMC is facing is that a single node (106.187.94.81) is generating PoS blocks which are overriding all PoW blocks. I am going to assume this is malicious. Because of the way PoS/PoW works a single PoS block deliberately put onto its own fork can reverse hundreds of PoW blocks on the main chain. I can see at least 3 IPs generating PoW blocks right now, and they're wasting their time......

The long term fix to override this PoS mischief is diversity - we need multiple non-selfish nodes generating PoS blocks to strengthen the main chain "for the greater good"

...So if people aren't interested in selling to me, at least start up your CMC wallet so it can stake!...

If you have a CMC balance, please start your client so it can generate some PoS blocks and help diversify the network.

Because one node is essentially controlling the network it is not moving as fast as it should. It's going to take more like 2-3 months before my balance starts staking. Please help out by starting your client (or selling me your wallet, see above.)

Just a reminder that I am not doing this for personal gain, I'm simply trying to save the network before the coin ends up delisted. Once this is done, I can work on getting deposits re-enabled at bter.

My oldest PoW mined block is now just over 31 days old (network days, not calendar days). Have to leave but I've enabled staking on the client, so hopefully it will start generating PoS soon.

The network has been a lot more stable recently, with PoW blocks sticking. Just needs a couple of good nodes generating regular PoS blocks to prevent a rogue from reversing everything.

Will watch for a little while longer then look at officially taking over the coin, doing a maintenance release with new checkpoints, bugfixes etc. Then I'll approach bter and ask them to relist it.

I have some Cosmoscoin on cryptsy but don't have a wallet.

I have tried to synchronized my wallet but without success. Is there a good list with working nodes?

I just tried to compile & run the wallet, it finds connections right out of the box.

Update: It took roughly 40 hours to fully synch, with 2 connections most of the time.
