Title: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: fishy on July 01, 2013, 12:28:27 AM I've seen many new altcoins, which are to be trusted and which not?
Based on user replies, these coins seem to be reputable: -PPCoin Long lasting -Litecoin Most established -Devcoin Ethical -Namecoin Merge mined -Terracoin Long lasting -BitBar High value Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: smitemesmith on July 01, 2013, 12:33:25 AM Hard to say reliably. But one for sure is Sunny Kings PPC.
I don't feel that any other alt coins developers have proven themselves as of yet. However I am not an expert and am just writing from intuition. Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: JohnCar on July 01, 2013, 12:51:03 AM fishy its in your best interest to do your own homework on each coin. People will steer you to a particular coin for 1 of 2 reasons.
1) They believe in the coin 2) They have a stake in the coin so they want you to believe in the coin. After all its your time and money. Just remember whats popular now might not work later. Think things thru and were the coin could be at a year from now. John Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: worldinacoin on July 01, 2013, 12:51:34 AM Litecoin, Devcoin, Namecoin, Featurecoin

Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: Snail2 on July 01, 2013, 01:23:26 PM Maybe you can add Terracoin to the list. It's OK since the dev have fixed the difficulty adjustment issues.
Novacoin also a decent one with a good value. Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: Nibiru on July 01, 2013, 01:32:22 PM Krugercoin is the future!

Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: digit on July 01, 2013, 02:19:07 PM I'm betting on Copperlarks now and the upbit exchange (https://upbit.org/?ref=1684) that offers it as a winner, once they get around to translating the entire site to english, I think I will using that site alot more. who needs exchanges that are prone to US government interference :(
Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: usahero on July 01, 2013, 02:25:17 PM Devcoin and Terracoin are shit. Especially devcoin. There is nothing good about devcoin.
Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: fishy on July 01, 2013, 02:27:40 PM Devcoin and Terracoin are shit. Especially devcoin. There is nothing good about devcoin. why? Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: daserpent1 on July 01, 2013, 02:32:38 PM My vote goes for ValueCoin and Alphacoin. Both devs are doing a great job promoting the coins and setting up a nice backend for miners.

BTC/LTC (tie) PPC NVC TRC all supported at our casino btws ;) Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: Snail2 on July 01, 2013, 02:39:09 PM Isn't Novacoin the one with that was a giant pump 'n dump? Which one wasn't a big pump and dump :)? NVC at least kept a relative good value and the dev didn't disappeared after the first month. Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: SRoulette on July 01, 2013, 02:48:11 PM Isn't Novacoin the one with that was a giant pump 'n dump? Which one wasn't a big pump and dump :)? NVC at least kept a relative good value and the dev didn't disappeared after the first month. NVC had a "interesting" start. Firstly, let me state that I have good communication with the dev via the forums and have found him extremely helpful, my opinion is biased because of this but please consider the following: * I do believe nvc started as a russian coin that simply lagged in the english announcement due to a poor launch (we have all seen them). There was not any hiding the launch, it simply was not mentioned outside of the russian forums for 1 week. * Despite constant trolling the the dev hung around and answered questions tirelessly, no mean feat imho. * The large amount of nvc handed over to btc-e was for (imho) creating early PoS to strengthen the network in hands other than that of the dev. * The aforementioned coins were destroyed by sending them to a irredeemable address (coin eater/ no valid priv key) by btc-e after the forums kicked up a fuss. * I think PoS is very cool, while it has its detractors I think it is an idea worth pursing until perfected hence our support of PPC and NVC. This is why I voted for NVC as a reputable alt, so you don't need to persuade me :). Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: autodidactic on July 01, 2013, 03:39:25 PM Obamacoin is the best. only 3 for me Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: cryptohunter on July 01, 2013, 04:42:27 PM Aside from the more established alts already mentioned
pxc, wdc, dgc these seem to be worth looking at. They seem to be trying to combine efforts now also. Not sure how that will work out but even so they have a certain following. Due to their design wdc and dgc seem to have more stable hash rates, but pxc seems to have devs that are active on the board and have mentioned some nice apps are coming for the coin. Dgc although i don't have much of that at all since i didn't mine it early on seems to have dev who comes up with new things for the coin pretty often maybe more apps for his coin that any other dev so far. PPC seems to have a very active and smart dev hence why a lot of people mention that one and is one of the more established alts. I'm mostly in pxc right now, although i was not sure why they wanted to combine with other coins if they have all these big plans on their own anyway. Although this will hopefully become clear as more is announced. Title: Re: Reputable New Altcoins Post by: JahPowerBit on July 01, 2013, 05:47:21 PM BTC / NMC
