Think your good at sports betting? Lets do a 1 vs 1 challenge then!

Here are the rules of my proposed challenge:
-Both players must make 25 picks total within 30 days (or 10 picks in 14 days, or 50 picks with a 60 day limit).
-Max playable lines are +200 to -200
-Every underdog moneyline play (+100 to +200) is RISKING 1 unit (example +150, RISKING 1 Unit To Win 1.5 units).
-Every favorite Moneyline or spread (-101 to -200) is TO WIN 1 unit (Example -200 would be risking 2 units TO WIN 1 unit)
-Winner is based on the FINAL overall +/- units.
-Only first 25 plays count (or 50 picks if that is the challenge length).
-Picks by both players must be made on http://www.pickmonitor.com/, no other way for submitting picks will be allowed. (This site does not allow plays to be canceled just FYI even before the event has begun.)
-Only lines offered on pickmonitor can count as eligible plays

If you are willing to do this let me know and I am willing to do up to 1BTC with any person, max of 5 BTC total to start off. Minimum will be .1 in BTC challenge. At the moment BTC is VERY volatile so if you would like to do a USD challenge (like my USD vs your USD, we could figure something out) I would definitely be for that too, same limits.

Will you allow escrow?
Yes, if you want escrow we will use John K or BCB, only for challenges of $25 (BTC equivalent) or more. In this case EACH player (you and me) will pay 1% more then the entry cost to cover the 2% escrow fee (we split the fee). For example: We want to challenge each other to .5 BTC challenge, each person would send .51 BTC to the escrow address. Winner would receive 1 BTC of the 1.02 sent to that address. I'd prefer not to escrow since the fees eat away our winnings but understand the trust issue involved with not escrowing.

If you are fine with me holding the coins, I will open an address in my 2fa protected wallet and send my entry fee first then have u send yours. Once both are rec'd, they will remain untouched until a winner has been decided.

• Users could make accounts and start with identical balances (could be small). With the users agreement we could release verified bet histories throughout the contest. Highest balance wins.

We know that pick-monitor also helps track picks, but it would be cool to keep the contest within the BTC community! Plus it also seems cooler to bet against a real book, so you know it's always real odds you are betting.

Either way the contest sounds like a great idea.

Thanks bitbook but I kind of want to keep the actual amounts wagered / this contest separate. Where the only thing required at risk is the amount for the entry fee between players. Appreciate it though!

I follow CFB but mainly NFL, if you want I will accept your challenge if all picks are spreads ONLY.  Thus eliminating the different lines. I will be mostly picking NFL spreads against you just fyi.. Everyones volume of money too is the same.

If you want only 10 picks thats fine but I'd rather do 15, the variance on only 10 picks is very high. Would definitely like to get one of these challenges started to draw some attention.

Sure, in a way I thought this would be fair so that players cannot copy one another. Any plays made will be able to be seen once the game has been completed. Please still make your plays on pickmonitor because once a bet has been placed there, there is NO way to cancel or change it. While here, you can edit your posts/comments at anytime. I have one play pending for today and that play will be able to seen once it is completed. I'll share it though, Cinci Reds ML to win 1 unit, hopefully I don't get buried first game ;) Also my 1 BTC has been sent to the escrow wallet if you check it. Thanks for being patient about that.

A new member has contacted me via PM wanting to do a 10 pick / 14 day challenge for .25 BTC. As I forgot about the All Star break I have requested to him to make the length 20 days for the challenge if he is up for it. Note: He has requested 12 picks / 20 days. Also note, when I have multiple challenges open, my plays count for any challenges that are open. If I make a play two days from now and I have open challenges against Msbitcoin and moneymaker1990, that pick will affect my record for both challenges.

1) Weekly challenge for 1btc
2) 1/2 season challenge for 5btc
3) Full Season challenge for 10btc

I am confident in my NFL handicapping abilities but those are def too much of my BR to put up. As for college football I generally do not handicap these as much. NFL is my main moneymaker during football season. I could do 5 BTC season, as for weekly, I generally only have 2-3 plays that I unload on, thus I don't know if I'd be interested in doing one. I might do a survivor pool however someone else is doing one so I don't want to be rude and compete with them, but if its a high roller version I could see it happening. Do you think there would be interest in this such contest:

Spread Survivor
-Each week participants choose 2 spreads (ATS) based on pickmonitor lines, and you are eliminated once you lose 5 spreads.
-Winner is last one standing.

Or we could do this sort of thing:
-Pick 2 spreads each week, best record in end wins (or could have top 2 or 4 handicappers compete in a playoff type fashion picking the spreads of every playoff game).

I'll think about it and probably come up with something of my own for highrollers or such, probably not 2 BTC though, probably 1 BTC with min 5 entries. I honestly like the idea of doing something with spreads but we'll let the public decide. I'll make a post about it in coming week or two and first poll people to see which version they would like. Also uvwvj I will be joining your pool, no worries there, however I prefer not to join things til last minute for my own personal accounting purposes.

You interested in doing this for MMA (mostly UFC) events?

I do not follow MMA or UFC however I do watch them from time to time. My sports betting challenging includes any and all sports that are included on pickmonitor.com, which has almost every line for every sport. I'm sure they have MMA, so thus if there are enough fights, you could simply just wager on fights while I bet on baseball or football. However, the max lines tho are -200 to +200 to prevent any late big comebacks by an opponent being down like 5 units with 1 pick to go (obviously they'll pick a huge underdog then). If you are serious though I could increase the max acceptable lines to -300 to +300 for our challenge. Let me know if you are interested!

First day for my challenge with moneyman1990, hes gone 1-1 so far (+0.00 units) with a win with Miami +1.5 and a loss with Texas ML. I'm 1-0 with Orioles -.5 1st 5 innings, and currently have a pending play on arizona diamondbacks ML. Moneyman also has a pending play on Angels -1.5.

Also for anyone not wanting to look up myself or any of my challengers stats, I am keeping track of +/- units and how many plays have been made by everyone in the OP of this thread. It is at the bottom in bold.

As you can see from what MsBitcoin is doing, a lot of relatively smaller sports are able to be wagered on besides the top 3 of NFL, NBA and MLB. If there is enough MMA fights notserp you could base most of your picks on the fights. You would just have to keep in mind the time limit for the challenge. I would still pick mostly MLB for my side of the challenge.

Records updated, Msbitcoin went 5-2 for +2.8 units, and moneymaker1990 went 2-2 for +1.00 unit. If those are wrong let me know. I'm personally hoping that pickmonitor offers some props of who finishes better in the HR derby, have a couple matchups in mind.

Yes one pick is the all star game. Sometimes I will post my plays but generally I wont since if someone wants to make the same pick itd look bad if they did so and I posted my plays. On pickmonitor once you maje a pick you cannot change it. Thus to see a pick just wait til they are in progress and you can see them.

Please just post your picks when you make them so I don't have to waste $49 by paying picksmonitor to be able to see your pending picks.  Thanks!

You can see all my pending picks once they have been in progress. I will do my best to post them here, but like I said, you can see all played picks once completed or in progress without paying. You also do not have to say your plays if you do not have time to, or like me sometimes, use my phone to make picks on pick monitor whereas, the forum is much harder to browse in mobile form.

Also, a very sharp play that I really liked, Cubs +151 on btcsportsmatch, put 2 BTC on it but forgot to make the pick on pickmonitor, still hoping it hits obviously but darn missed making it an official challenge play :P

That is ok I will just buy the monthly package from picksmonitor I guess.

Everyone is riding on St Louis, the line has moved quite a bit and now is +ROI in the long run IMO for cubs. Wainwright has been average against the cubs, and the cubs have given St Louis quite a run for their money each game for the past season or so from what I've seen. Thus I took them for a couple coins.

Had what I considered to be a play of the week today, took Oakland ML -130 and Oakland won easily. Easy 5.7 BTC won off bitbook as well as another +1 unit for the challenges. Record updated. Also liked Dodgers myself, but couldn't unload on it when I saw Puig was not in the lineup. Thought dodgers would win but just couldn't fire on it, so I went with Oakland instead. Congrats for hitting the parlay! Just let me know if you want to do a challenge, I will also be having a handicapping contest/pool for NFL season which I will announce closer to the first games. I will also offer a challenge or two special for couple people to challenge me for NFL full season, and not a 14 day or 30 day challenge but instead the full season of NFL and only NFL picks qualify. Still working out the details for both.

i was patting myself on the back earlier because Garza got traded to the Rangers and was still slotted to play tonight against Arizona.  i put .2 BTC on the D-backs this morning before the trade ... still a lot of time though.

Nice! I really didn't have much time to look at lines today so only two leans I had was Pittsburgh and LAD but only chose LAD, dunno why I seem to do bad against my home teams (Washington and Baltimore), so didn't make it official. Will say this though, fade Haren and you'll make money long term.

Only one play today made on pickmonitor, I wagered the same amount with my Cash book. Took Pittsburgh Pirates +120 and its looking good as of now going into bottom of 9th, fingers crossed.  :)
