Lots of my altcoins holdings are going up and pumping in price a huge amount randomly even when they have no upcoming news or events. I am also seeing this for most altcoins. Anyone know why they are pumping randomly this past week?

Its due to up in BTC

Altcoins are increasing in BTC Value and not only in USD. So that´s Independent of the increase of bitcoin anyway bitcoin is decreasing today...

I wouldn't call it "random" per say... We are in a period where people are feeling very confident in crypto markets. A lot of that has to do with the new ATH of Bitcoin. People are merely buying into projects they have been following for a while. At least, that is my suspicion.

Altcoins have risen so fast today. I earned a lot of money. Guppy especially made me very happy. I hope everybody is earn  :D

I would always look at the pricing of your altcoin portfolio in terms of BTC value, not the USD value. For me for example, the btc value has dimished to almost a fifth of what it was before. Even now while I have almost %50 up in terms of USD, its still on the same level of BTC value. I would suggest always to compare to the currency the coin is traded, and this is mostly BTC.

I mean't to say that everything is going up relative to USD and BTC

Btc up and alts as well.But not always.Just a normal growth.Pretty sure,that btc will catch correction after going over 12k,around 10k.Then alts will dump,and might bounce back pretty nice

Yes altcoins are rising but they are still dependent to bitcoin, if bitcoin falls even little, they immediately give reaction to this fall so that rise may be temporary.

I think it is all due to more awareness spreading and more people getting in the crypto market.
Coinbase has been adding a million new accounts every month; probably most other exchanges
too are growing fast. More new money coming in and no FUD near-term means   most altcoins
 will keep rising.

Because the industry is at an ATH for how much money is in the market and because 100% of it can't go to BTC other coins are going to increase too it only makes sense. Nice to see the sat prices increasing too truly a positive sign for those with alts.

To follow the bitcoin, as a newbie and you may feel strange with the pump because there are no fundamental aspects to support the pump for the majority of the altcoin itself.  But the fact that a lot of people are in hype to increase the price of the altcoin. But some altcoin still on the negative downtrend. Just like bitcoinred and another airdrop token get a huge pump too. if you are seeing the fact the bitcoinred just another ethereum asset that depends on the ethereum on its tech and it's very ridiculous.

Pumping randomly because not all altcoin make huge investor interest.
If no big investor interest most likely the price will stay or maybe down because not so many demand.

If an altcoin is increasing in value without any annoucenments to come out this is a very good sign imo. People seem to believe in the fundamentals of the coin. That's the best thing that can happen to a cryptocurrency. Sustainable growth.

It seems the advantage from BTC trading is moved already to Altcoins.

Altcoins grow very poorly for several months. My portfolio gives me losses. I hope that soon all coins will grow to the level that was in the summer. Sometimes it seems to me that I had to buy only bitcoin and enjoy the growth

it is not just this week, you just happen to notice it this week. in fact this is an ongoing thing which takes place every single day. it is called pump and dump. there are so many whales and pump groups that want to make profit from all these useless tokens that exist in the market. so they manipulate the market and pump the price every single day (different groups and different people).

in fact that is one of the methods to make money. instead of what you are doing which is bag holding lots of coins, you only buy those altcoins that are getting pumped. every day you can make quick profit from small profit to large ones depending on how much that coin is pumped and when you exit.

try to study different coin movements and try to figure out how you can predict a pump or notice an ongoing one. then you will make a lot of money.

So you will need to hold more Bitcoin. But there are some alts out there which perform very well at the moment.
Only buying Bitcoin is not a bad idea also, btw. I guess >80% of "traders" lose vs. BTC.

Yes, the values of the all the coins increased in the market and has given good profit to all investors who waited till now. So it indicates that those who wait patiently will get the reward when the price increases in the market.

About time.Because instead of profit,in most of coins i can see mostly recover ,pump,dump for last several month.Thank god there is thing called traiding as well.

i think all market rise and not just for this week cryptomarket rise as more and more people join it and start to buy crypto i think this will continue in fiture too.

Altcoin investors are starting to get acquainted with the market and are starting to buy altcoin instead of selling massively. Altcoin reduction is due to bitcoin price increases too fast as the source of capital is drawn from altcoin focused on bitcoin. But you can buy altcoin from now on, the market is good again.

I think altcoin rising because Bitcoin rising. Bitcoin makes the good news for the market, it leads the development of your altcoin.

Maybe because altcoins are much more cheaper than bitcoin.. So people are investing more on alts..

Altcoins are trending now anyways. Even getting promoted nicely

BTC had its turn to rise and then has been fairly stable in the 11000s, whenever bitcoin is stable alts seem to rise. It's just a cyclical thing also, many alts pumped last days and now are falling again.

There are some altcoins being used just to pump and dump since they doesnt offer anything else, and well looks like there will be another bitcoin fork, soo people are pumping some altcoins expecting to sell their bags to the new investors, and well crypto market were always this way ups and down are part of crypto world.

I do not know what you expect the offer from the any coin. We have to get the altcoin for profit purpose only other and all does not work with the altcoin. There are many initiative coins in the market just being launch as new coin.
We do not find those project does not get success in the market first. Now we found the green revolution project in crypto. If you want to invest that on those kind of project. Check their Ann thread and invest on it.

Alt coins had relatively bad couple of months. Some of them could not stand the rise of bitcoin and lose lots of value due to dump. Bitcoin's rise is kinda slowed and it could have a fall in the next couple of weeks . That means people can start investing in alt coins again and this will continue like a circle.

Many competitors are choose altcoins also it is also better investment in cryptocurrency. This is the actual reason in pumping the altcoins. But not all the altcoins are pumping in market. Many altcoin is dumping in market. So I think your altcoins only pumping in market. In future all the transaction and money are digital in our world. Previously many investors are invest in altcoins and Bitcoin. This pumping is not stable it is dumping in anywhere.

Alt coins are dropping:)First btc got all the money.Then 4-5k 24h dump.Now another wave of potential bull run.Alts just dont have opportunity to recover:/

Because the investors are looking for the promising ico with good development. Most of them are trying to move their portfolio into another place that gives the more valuable development in the future, that's why some ico still didn't get any movement or even a dump in this time.

In my opinion, it really depends on the blockchain project behind the altcoin and the progress that they are making.

Another thing that I noticed is, most of the altcoin that are rising in value have strong community backing it.

Bitcoin is rising and it's pulling the altcoin's price up. A common run in crypto market.
