It's like shares: you invest and then can have a benefits for a lower price.

Please, it's a "Beginners" section on that forum and you can have all the answers there but not in "Economics" section.

Tokens arent like shares. Stakes (like offered in some altcoin campaigns) are comparable to shares.
But token is not a synonym for shares/stakes. A token (in general) is an abstract object which gives the owner the right to perform some actions.
For example, BTC is also a token, because if you own this token you are eligible to transfer btc's on the network.
Tokens (in airdrops) are mostly used to raise money. The ealry investors have the chance to get tokens cheap while their price might rise in the future.
Most of these tokens have a special use e.g. as a security token, verification token, etc..

Token is a unique key, representing a long set of symbols and giving its owner the right to use digital services. The meaning of this concept is best understood by the example: the Yandex.Maps service has an API that allows any webmaster to embed a Yandex map on his site. However, in order to use this thing, you need to get a special key (token), which must be specified when accessing the service. In this case, the token is not secret, but is bound to a specific domain. Tokens are both paid and free, depending on the type of service and their supplier.

By investing in token you can have a benefits for such a small amount of price. For me you should try to invest in airdrop because they are always giving the follower of them a token which we can use.

They are essentially coins but they are created out of thin air with a smart contract generally. Most of these tokens are made on the Ethereum network and as you probably may or may not know they are called ERC20 tokens or ERC223 for some others (most are ERC20). They can also be made on other networks like Waves or Next but the simplest way to create a token is on the Ethereum network.

Token is like a coin or money but if you like to sell it its different, because you pay the value of this but if you have a lot of token then its better to hold it and wait the best price and sell it already.

Tokens are give by ICOs or airdrops wherein it is a stake that you get for the work you’ve done for them. At the start it has no value until such time that many people invest to them. The value depends if it is on its hard cap or soft cap. Hard cap is the best price and soft cap is the lower price.

Hi guys , recently I was interested in tokens with airdrops but what are they finally ? Could someone help me please ?  ::)

A token is an accounting unit that is used to represent a digital balance in a certain asset. Accounting for tokens is maintained in the database on the basis of blocking technology, and access to them is done through special applications using electronic signature schemes.

What are the types of tokens?
- Equity tokens - represent the company's shares.
- Utility tokens - reflect some value within the business model of the online platform (reputation, scores for certain actions, game currency).
- Asset-backed tokens - digital obligations for real goods or services (kilograms of carrots, hours of work of the builder, etc.).

What can a token be provided with?
Directly provided can be only asset-backed tokens. In this case, the token is a digital counterpart of a real (physical) asset or service. For example, one token can be equated to one square meter of living space or the ability to go for one session to a movie theater. The guarantor of the conversion of the token into security is the organization itself, which stores goods or provides services.

What is asset tokenization?
Tokenizatsiya - a process of transformation of accounting and asset management, in which each asset is represented in the form of a digital token. The essence of tokenization is the creation of digital analogs for real values with the aim of quickly and safely working with them. For example, the owner of a bakery creates an electronic accounting system in which he issues digital obligations for rolls - tokens. Having a fairly good reputation, the owner of a bakery can pre-sell rolls, selling tokens on trading floors on the Internet. In this case, any owner of tokens can come to the bakery and exchange one token for one roll.

In cryptocurrency, Airdrops is a free token given from the developer to their loyal supporters as way of appreciation for their supports. Token is digital or virtual objects that represents the developer's name. You can trade that token once it will be available in their respective exchanges. Some tokens from airdrops will take more time before it has value in the exchanges.

Existing projects are the one who used the tokens. Tokens act as the payment of the participants in order to invest in the ICO. Unlike with fiat currency, every project has their own token identity wherein I think most of them are supported by ERC20 token of ethereum.

I think in the crypto context at least, the term "token" is gaining a negative, non serious tone. Similarly, "ICO" has become a term that's pretty much synonymous to "scam" or "non serious project".

The word token is mostly used for projects which don't really require their own cryptocurrency unit of value because Bitcoin already does what they intend to do, but they get their own scam to shill and pump and dump to steal noob's bitcoins. Notice how nobody says "the BTC token" because Bitcoin is a serious project and not some funny pretend money.

A token is what you do with.
You are free to do with what you want.
I have paid fees to create my token WSPU2 so so long I have this token,so long I can do with what I want.
If I sell them, then the new owner can do with what he want.

Most simple explanation is that bitcoin has its own chain, other chains are known as alternative chains or alts. When you use chain to build more on top of that platform you will get tokens, tokens don't have chains.
Most popular platform for making tokens is ethereum, that we all know. But there are many platforms and tokens are new way to start your own business without going to bank. Simply you make your token on the platform and raise money from ICO, but that is not so easy part. You need idea, whitepaper and many more things. You need a team, that is why when you check some new coin you first look at their team and their idea.

Tokens can be a reward from a project where you are participating. Airdrop can give tokens as well when you sign up into them and spread word about their project but the value in the market is low where you can just get shit coins. It is much better to join bounty campaigns and choose better campaign to join, make sure that it is not a scam. Make research about the project before you join.

M O O N L I T E PROJECTS (https://www.moonlite.io/)
to date M O O N L I T E uses ETH for their tokens called MNL.
500 MNL = 1 ETH (ICO Price)

Token basically represent a particular asset, it is sometimes a product of a coin. Developers choose to make token than coin because it is easier to create because it doea not require creation of new blockchain. Tokens are ussually based on another coin such as etherium and waves wallet. Tokens are made possible because of smart contract.

The Ethereum token standard (ERC20) is used for Ethereum smart contracts. Developed in 2015, ERC20 defines a common list of rules that an Ethereum token has to implement. Giving developers the ability to program how new tokens will function within the Ethereum ecosystem. This token protocol became popular with crowdfunding companies via initial coin offering (ICO).
As of January 2018, there were more than 21,000 ERC20 token contracts.Among the most successful ERC20 token sales are EOS, Sirin Labs, Bancor, Quash, and BANKEX raising over $70 million each. Mercury Protocol's Global Messaging Token is an example of an application based on ERC20 tokens.

A token is a special frame that is passed from node to node around a ring network. When it gets to a node that needs to transmit data, the node changes the token into a data frame and transmits it to the recipient.
A token is essential to the inner workings of a token ring network.
Techopedia explains Token
The token can only be handled by a single node at a time. The bearer of the token is the only one allowed to send data around the network to a recipient node within the network. The bearer of the token writes the address of the recipient and the data to be sent, and then sends it to the next node in the series.
When the sender node sends the token to the next node, that node reads the address. If that node is not the intended recipient, it sends the data to the next node and so on. Finally, when the recipient node reads the data and knows that it is the recipient, it takes the data and sends the token back to the the sender's address with a message indicating that the data was received. The token is then sent around the ring again until it reaches the sender/bearer of the token. After using the token, a node releases it back into the network so other nodes will be able to use it.
Although token ring transmission seems to be a slow process, users rarely notice it because data communication occurs rapidly.

A token is something who is worth something.
A good example is my token faucet.

You earn free WSPU2pts and you can trade the WSPU2pts for dollars on the faucet site.

You know that 1 WSPU2pts is worth 1 WSPU2 tradable on the ETHEREUM blockchain.

Quote
Total WSPU2pts earned: 654.74667659
Total pending dollars earned: 0.17393012
Total claims: 544
WSPU2pts price in dollar: 0.00155

One can say a token is a kind of share.

Well in my own perspective about token, this is the amount of money with exchange to same amount the you give, in bounty campaigns token serves as the amount of profit that you can get which is the medium of payment that you can get with exchange to the servuce that yiu have done by the distinct period of the time that you well performed.

So token are native to each blockchain. They are used to secure the network by incentivization of the participants. Tokens can take up any form >>it can be equity, asset, currency within the network. In it’s simplest terms, its just a unit of value in the blockchain. Thus Only permissionless ledgers (public Blockchains like Bitcoin or Ethereum), need some sort of incentive mechanism to guarantee that block validators do their job according to the predefined rules

I have a read an great article on this. the link is https://blockchainhub.net/tokens/

Please read and enjoy

Tokens are altcoin developed by other Altcoin, and they do not have their blockchain platform. Symbols are like coin expressing the value of the project that investors participate. Tokens will list on the exchange after the project's completion of the loan.

Token is an accounting unit that reflects the digital balance in an asset. Accounting for each token unit is maintained in a separate database, working on blockchain technology. There are several types of tokens that are divided into groups

Mr. Google is always there to answer your question. If you want to find out what token means then search engines and other means of instrument can be used for your research. To give you a preview of what I have understood about token, it is a means of payment for your transactions on the blockchain. When a token hits exchange then it can be called a coin which will become a digital currency.

Token is rewarded to someone who fulfill their duties like accepted to join of Signature  campaign of any bounty campaign token meaning is made by any different Flatform they build after they gave you token there is an equivalent value in ETH or dollar. you just try to join in any different campaign to experience what's the feeling if you received a  token reward.

KODAK ICO one of the latest tokens available. These tokens are designed to protect the digital rights of photographers by using blockchain. The core concept is simple: digital photos will bring their creator information, so it can be traced completely. This appeals to every photographer out there, and it's certainly a good idea to use blockchain capabilities .. and you can try here.

Token are shares that has a value. These shares are like stockes that you could trade for other tokens (stocks) or cash them out. Airdrops is one of many ways to earn token. What you basically do is broadcast about that specific token in your social media and they will drop the token in you virtual wallet. These amounts are small, but your effort to get these are inconsequential. If you want more information about these, there is a board in this forum inder beginners.

Some bounty and airdrop programs will pay for your work with tokens, tokens that you earn can be exchanged for altcoin and the price varies. The token you get from Airdrop will look small, unlike the bounty program. Maybe you better choose to follow bounty campaign.

Tokens are like coins, it's just that you can use the token for just designated company or store, and you cannot make any transfer or buy something online if the store or company is not the owner. unlike coins that you can use in every store.

Tokens were the representation of a particular asset or a store of value. This serves as an transaction medium and this won't function on a separate blockchain. It is just a modified template over the platforms such as ethereum or waves. This makes ico creation an easy process.

Crypto tokens are special kind of virtual currency tokens that reside on their own blockchains and represent an asset or utility. For example, one can have a crypto token that represents x number of customer loyalty points on a blockchain that is used to manage such details for a retail chain. There can be another crypto token that gives entitlement to the token holder to view 10 hours of streaming content on a video-sharing blockchain. Another crypto token that may even represent other cryptocurrency, like one such token being equal to 15 bitcoins on a particular blockchain. Such crypto tokens are tradable and transferrable among the various participants of the blockchain.

Crypto tokens operate on top of a blockchain that acts as a medium for creation and execution of decentralized apps and smart contracts, and the tokens are used to facilitate the transactions.

right, token like currency from company to buy their product. like for example a transport company, if we are going to use their means of transportation, we must have some token to pay for it, more people need that token so that price higher too

Base on my research and studies a token it is a concrete things that can symbolize or represent any kinds of matter which has its own value. And if we are talking about tokens in crypto world it has a different meaning sometimes is used of all ICO's to collect investors for the funds of their project. And usually it used as a reward for those who are participating in a bounty campaign especially
From the bounty hunters.

A token is actually nothing more than a new term to make reference to a unit of value issued by a private entity.   Although tokens bear many similarities with bitcoins (they have a value attached to them which is accepted by a community and are blockchain-based), they serve a much broader purpose. Tokens are more than a currency because they can be used in a broader range of applications. Also, virtually all tokens rely on Ethereum’s blockchain protocol, which, according to experts, is more complete than bitcoin’s blockchain.

Token
Definition - What does Token mean?

A token is an accounting unit that is used to represent a digital balance in a certain asset. Accounting for tokens is maintained in the database on the basis of blocking technology, and access to them is done through special applications using electronic signature schemes.

A token is based on the other crypto currency. For example, the best known platform for tokens is Ethereum. Usually, the tokens are emitted by some smart contract and sold to investors during ICO campaigns. The transactions which transfers those tokens are written to the blockchain of the mother crypto currency, therefore using a tokens is secure and convenient for the teams of the start-up projects.

A token by definition is a representation any fungible tradable good such as currency, loyalty points, gold certificates, in game items and more.
The idea of a token itself is neither exclusive to Ethereum nor any other platform. A token is really an abstraction. It represents that I own a underlying tradable asset.
Currently the Ethereum space is very hot with ICOs which are really token offerings. These tokens represent an exchange medium within the project. For example, Golem Project pays app developers who publish on the platform and CPU renters in GNT

Tokens are a representation of a particular asset or utility, that usually resides on top of another blockchain. Tokens can represent basically any assets that are fungible and tradeable, from commodities to loyalty points to even other cryptocurrencies!

Creating tokens is a much easier process as you do not have to modify the codes from a particular protocol or create a blockchain from scratch. All you have to do is follow a standard template on the blockchain – such as on the Ethereum or Waves platform – that allows you to create your own tokens. This functionality of creating your own tokens is made possible through the use of smart contracts; programmable computer codes that are self-executing and do not need any third-parties to operate. It really is super cool!

If you have enough money, you can invest your money in an airdrop. An airdrop always giving follower many tokens :)

But I think you don't need to have money for airdrops. Airdrops means you do the required social tasks and follow the rules and later on you'll get the reward when the event will get over. How much will you get is either pre determined or dependent on the total number of participants.

Yes and no...
what you say are generalities.

A token is what the creator do with.
The creator is the first holder.
Once the tokens have changed holder, the tokens are what the holders do with.

The potential power of ERC20 tokens is so far not exploited.

Follow my ERC20 token WSPU2 and its related WSPU2pts and you will see the full power of the system.

In the digital world, minting currencies is an activity that doesn’t seem to be restricted to central banks anymore.  Bitcoin is the best example of how, from a private environment, a blockchain-based virtual currency can be rolled out in the market, albeit subject to many limitations due to the lack of a legal framework to regulate it. But bitcoin was just the beginning of a fully-fledged revolution, the second step of which might very well be the tokens.

If you are interested in token airdrops, you should know what the tokens are. There are currently more than 140 Tokens, and most of them are running on the Ethereums blockchain. Tokens represent a specific asset or tool usually found at the top of another blockchain, for example, at Ethereum blockchain. These are the ERC20 tokens. There are also NEP-5 tokens. NEP-5 tokens are tokens that run on NEO blockchain network. For these two types of tokens, there is the Infinito Universal wallet.

In terms of digital currencies, tokens refers to cryptocurrencies  when they are first offered either by airdrop or ICO( initial Coin Offering). Through airdrop you get the tokens for free or by performing some minimal tasks especially on social media whiles with  the ICO you need to invest to get the tokens. A token becomes a coin when it becomes tradable.

In this sense token are created and sent through the internet when transactions are created and exist as entries on a given coin blockchain. Cryptocurrency is a standard currency which is used for the sole purpose of making or receiving token payment on the blockchain.

To make it simpler, cryptocurrency can be considered as the parent category. Under that, you have coins/altcoins/cryptcoins as one sub-category and tokens as another sub-category.

A token is a kind of cryptocurrency (without a currency usecase), that is usually issued on top of another blockchain. Generally, in any usecase, tokens represent utility or an asset, or sometimes both.

For an example, consider Golem project which has GNT tokens. Golem or GNT tokens are hosted on Ethereum’s blockchain and Ether (ETH) is the primary currency (or fuel) for the entire Ethereum blockchain.

Token is an encoding currency that is issued during ICO (Initial Coin Offering). Because the ICO concept may be mistaken for a coin release, some projects that use the ITO concept (Initial Token Offering) combined with the Token Generation Event (TGE) will provide a more accurate view.
