These are not wallets, they are exchanges.

Wallet is where you save your funds, like a real wallet. Exchange is where you trading your coins. Never leave your funds on exchanges, they are not properly safe.

If you are going to hold it for the long term then holding the funds online on any web wallet or exchange is not recommended because there is a possibility of the data compromisation on the server side even if you are taking all the security precautions for your account. You can use a simple paper wallet or Trezor wallet along with the backup for the same if you are concerned about the safety of your funds.

Both aren't wallets. It's exchanges. It's not bad exchanges, but they aren't very popular and their volume isn't big. You shouldn't use them as a wallet, because it's not safe enough, we saw in past that several exchanges was hacked and users lost their coins. If you want to keep coins safely, you should use desktop wallet. Offcourse, it would be best to get hardware wallet.

The best wallet is the one whose keys you have. Use the official cold wallets like Bitcoin Core, Etherium wallet etc or lite wallets like electrum. Also Exodus is good one lite multicurrency wallet

As written above, cryptopia and novaexchange are exchanges. You have purse addresses where you can have btc and various altcoins. I personally do not leave any money in exchanges. Due to failure, regular maintenance and worse cancellation of the exchange. Here is an interesting link to help you: https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/wallets/

Cryptopia and Nova exchange are not web wallet or personal wallet which not recommend to saving your coins for a long-term as these exchanges meant to be a place to do the trade. Which one is better? you can read it here:
https://www.cryptocompare.com/exchanges/cryptopia/overview
https://www.cryptocompare.com/exchanges/novaexchange/overview
It seems Nova exchange has better reviews than Cryptopia, do your own research before deciding to deposit.

Just what members pointed out, they are not wallet that is good for holding your bitcoins, specially huge amounts. Here is the Ann thread on Nova. Just check it out and decide for yourself.

[ANN] Novaexchange.com - Crypto currency exchange (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1440340.0)

But if you really want to have a safe and trusted wallet for storing your bitcoin used this one:

https://electrum.org/#home

For storing ETH and tokens:

https://www.myetherwallet.com/

And here is the link of all trusted wallets as far as bitcoin is concern. Choose what's appropriate for you.

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Again, exchanges are not safe to store your coins because in a likelihood of a hack, chances are that your coins could be stolen. And if you don't hold the private keys, its not your coins.

You also need to protect them. You can search the forum for more tips on safeguarding your wallet. Better be safe than sorry dude. Hackers are targeting us because of the huge money involved.

I use greenAddress, seems good to me, although i am new also :S
I just looked on google and read up about a few, GreenAddress seems simple to use for me, and has ok protection from what I can see.

I used GreenAddress too. Another trusted and safe wallet as well to keep your bitcoins.

People are misunderstanding what's the difference between exchanges and wallets / webwallets. It's normal that everyone do store some of their bitcoin and alt coins to different exchanges to endure the high fees and let it stay there. But if you are looking for faster transactions, all are affected when it comes to bitcoin transactions. Everyone is experiencing and affected with the slow network confirmations, only the miners fee does matter on your concern.

Firstly, those are exchanges and secondly there are better exchanges than those. Bittrex is better than these as it has a better interface and 3 pairs of market to trade coins with. It also has a better interface which is easier to understand. Hitbtc, livecoin, etc.. are some considerable exchanges.
From the above two Cryptopia is better than nova at least.

Both of these are obviously exchanges and are not designed to store your money on. Look at what happened to btc-e, bitfinex, nice hash, and a bunch of other exchanges which got hacked and the users had to either wait out a period of time for their coins or got just completely ripped of their money. Exchanges do not allow you to access your private keys, therefore they are not ideal wallets for long term storage.

If you're just asking for which one is the superior exchange, then i'd say cryptopia at the moment.

Really you're just comparing two of the smallest and most unreliable exchanges, but since nova is going through changes right now i'd rather trust cryptopia.

The best wallet is one which you independently control, one with private keys you and you alone know.

An exchange is never a good choice for short and long term storage of coins. Exchanges are prone to risks such as insider fraud, blockage and locking of accounts and assets, bankruptcy and seizure by authorities. An offline or paper wallet would be a safer storage option.

There are also good wallets which are time tested and proven as robust and safe. One of which is the Bread wallet. A little paranoia helps and is even healthy for making safe financial decisions. When setting up wallets, set it up on a safe platform or an environment free from online and offline intrusions. Common sense helps such as avoiding public or shared WiFi on devices where you store your coins, avoid adding third party keyboards and apps on the same device hosting your wallet app. 2FA and strong unique passwords are a must.

And lastly, on top of all the safety precautions above, always think before acting. By this I mean think carefully when someone or anyone offers something too good to be true. There is always a motive when you get an unsolicited PM.

And never transact without escrow protection.

I think what you mean to say is which exchange have better wallets. Well the wallets don't matter because it is being operated by the exchanges.
Any wallet whose private key you don't own doesn't matter because the funds can be emptied whenever the one who has its private key wants.
You should either look for better wallets or better exchanges. Better exchanges would be bittrex, bitthumb, bitstamp etc... and better wallets would be Mycelium, Electrum, Bitcoin core etc..

Keeping funds in the exchange site wallet is not adviceable and you will have risk to loose your fund by the attack time of hackers. Most of the time hackers points the exchange site and hash rental site grab the bitcoin.
This is because of online wallets site private key has been shared so try to transfer your fund from the exchange to the desktop wallet or hardware wallet.

Both nova exchange and cryptopia is an exchanger and it's not a wallet like blockchain. It's not recommend to stored your coins on exchanger. It's better to create your own wallet on blockchain for bitcoin and myetherwallet for altcoin. Who's faster in transferring on both nova exchange or cryptopia usually in 15minutes, it's not included the confirmation.

You are talking about exchanges and not the wallet. Exchanges are different from wallet where the coins are traded for dollars and wallets are used for storing those particular coins.I normally use Zebpay for wallet services as they offer good buying and selling price with zebpay to zebpay users charges are free and they are working pretty good in our Indian country with good customer care service from them.Apart from that you can also use hardware wallets like Trezor, Ledger Nano S.

If you need a wallet that you can save your bitcoin safely in a long-term savings or investment, i can suggest you to use a hardware wallet. This is the safest wallet that you may use for a long-term saving.

First : Both cryptopia and nova exchange are not web wallet and you shouldn't trust any of such exchange with your coins. Both of them are also comparatively small trading platform.

Second : Web wallets and exchanges are not true bitcoin wallet so you shouldn't trust them with blind eyes.

If you are looking for multicoin wallet than use exodus, jaxx and if you want SPV wallets for bitcoin only than electrum is best as hot wallet. For cold storage use ledger, trezor like hardware wallet.

The OP is confused in the mean time. Yeah you're right about the differences between those two. There's still some trusted exchanges though even if it is that trusted sometimes they also purge those unused money and thats not good.

You probably know now the differences between exchangers and wallets.
Novaexchange and cryptopia are/were both excellent exchangers. Unfortunately novaexchange is closing. But I think, also cryptopia is a very good exchanger with awesome features and many infos. If you are looking for a wallet, you will find here good infos.

Hacked or ran away with their user's money ::)

Anyway, OP would be better to use Electrum instead, maybe Bitcoin Core if he has the bandwith to download all the data.
Keep the private key and seed safe, nothing can steal your coins now, unless your PC has virus, which in this case is in user's blame.

Nova or cryptopia both is not a wallet. It's an exchange and it's bad practice to use an exchange as wallet. Because you should never keep your coins on an exchange. It's dangerous and stupid. Get a hardware or paper wallet, again not a good idea to keep funds on an exchange.

I fall on that once and I know how it is, now I check the link twice before I type my username and pass, we need to get burned to know what fire is.
Even after so many threads about not keeping money on exchangers people still do it, after so many warnings about phishing links people still don't pay attention. They will learn when they lose money, I had luck and I didn't lost nothing but I learned good how to be keep myself from trouble.

Its not a wallet. Use Ledger or Trezor any hardware wallet whenever possible. Or If you want, you can use Coinbase. I heard that they have insurance on your crypto's stored in their platform. Coinbase is also fairly safe even I'm using about a long time.

To say simply your answer they will be able to access your wallet private key to the wallet provider. So be secured hardware wallet are best option to hold the bitcoins but cost will be bear from your side.
Desktop wallet like electrum, bitcoin core and all will be best one to have the bitcoin which is been secured as of now. Moreover there is no complaints about the desk top wallet like hacking and loosing the fund and all. Expect the loose the private key.

Honestly online exchange at the worst place to keep your money because they can get hack anytime I can run away with your money without you noticing about it. On the other hand if you want to download a wallet and you should know that there are two types of wallet light wallet and heavy wallet if you are looking for security then you should choose the heavy wallets they work with lower confirmation and lower fees because they are directly connected to blockchain network on the other hand light wallet has a bit issue on the security but they are quick and effective.

Myetherwallet isn't an exchange nor trading platform but it is a plain web wallet for Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. I'm sorry to know that you've fall for those links, they are everywhere as the price of ethereum, bitcoin and other altcoins are surging so you just need to be aware on it. We can't blame those people that aren't paying attention on it, they are too confident that they won't be hacked.

The advice would be never to use exchangers as wallets. Keep there just the amount of coins that you need for trading and for keeping coins use one of the trusted and user friendly wallet. When choosing wallets stay out from online wallets like blockchain, they have the worst security features and your coins could be exposed. And use multiple wallets, don't keep all funds at just one place.
Combine hard wallet like Trezor and maybe some mobile wallet like Mycelium.

But he should look for another site which have great volume like binance and other big exchanges so that he can trust more his funds by doing some good trades on them.

its not about the wallet bro if you talking about the fastest wallet. cause every wallet has the same process on how to deliver the transaction . I think it depends on the circumstances of currency like what happened before when bitcoin rocketed at the same time all of the transaction get blocked which is so slow to receive it takes two days or more before it go through and displayed on our wallet. and also for sure it depends also on the amount of transaction. However its up to you which do you preferred cause i just want to clarify that every wallet is good to use and has the same speed when it comes to deliver.

For me the better wallet is our local bitcoin wallet which is coins.ph because it has lots of services offer to being used as our simple business and it will gives additional income to us here in crypto world. Then i also used electrum, coinbase and blockchain but i hate the transaction fee it sucks but over all these wallet is safe to used.
