No one will be able to access your wallet if you lose PK, and no one can help you to access your wallet again if your PK is lost

I think you same like loss of your money there in wallet and lost access to wallet.
So private key is like our money. Keep it well.

I assume that you are using an Ethereum wallet and not a Bitcoin wallet cause you are pertaining to tokens.

Private keys is the most essential with any kind of cryptocurrency wallets so if you lose it then there is no way you can retreive your wallets. You have no any insurance in getting back your tokens anymore but if you still have an access to your Keystore File(UTC/JSON) with password then you can still login to your Ethereum address.

no you can't transfer your coins if you lost your private key. it is the most important thing in accessing your wallet without that your coins will be forever lock, in that situation you can ask mod/dev of a certain coin if they can help you get back all your coins from lost private key.

Usually it's impossible to recover your cryptocurrency funds if you lose the private key to your cryptocurrency address.
However, if you use HD wallet and still remember mnemonic words, you could restore your lost funds :)

Also, if you still have wallet file and forgot mnemonic words and private keys, but remember parts of the password. There are services which could help you restore the wallet.

A big NO...

Private key is tied up with bitcoin address and it is key to use any bitcoin held on that bitcoin address, without this key nobody can move those bitcoin out of the address.

If you have made that bitcoin wallet from blockchain.info like web wallets than you might have secret seed phrase to restore your wallet.

No one will be able to access your wallet if you lose PK, and no one can help you to access your wallet again if your PK is lost

So better to keep it in a safe place because if you loose it, you probably loose your money. Always have your multiple back up data about your PK so if one wast lost you till have other option. PK is the most important thing in your wallet, use it well.

Yes, but you will need a backup for that purpose. A private key is not a password and hence you can not reset it using any link/email id/2FA and etc options, you must keep the backup for it in order to use it in case of emergency.

There are the people who lost their private keys / wallet.dat file and hence lost the entire control from their wallet. Understand that after losing the private keys, your bitcoins are still on the network but since no one (including you) knows the private keys to spend those funds, those Bitcoins are useless and hence lost forever.

Sorry to break the sad news dude, but it lost your Private Keys, say bye bye to your coins or tokens. How about your JSON file though, I'm assuming you are talking about MEW here because you have mentioned tokesns? did you back it up or not? Their may be a a slim chance to recover it if you made a proper backup. But other than that, you won't be able to recover them. You know the drill, if you just followed it, this will hot happened to you. Sorry for you lost.

Private key is the most essential thing to access a wallet and once lost is almost impossible to recover unless backups were made and/or the wallet service provided recovery phrases which were backed up. In any case, offline backups of each would ensure total safety of the wallet since you would be in control of the coins without anyone else's access to it.

Unless you have your coins on a platform like Coinbase ( they dont give you your private key ) then you are pretty screwed. Which is why security is very important regardless of how much you are investing.

It depends on the type of wallet you use. Some wallets store your private key with them so you just need login id pass to enter the wallet and make transactions but if you are on a standalone private key wallet then you have surely lost your funds forever there is no way one can gain access to a wallet without private key nor do we have such technology which could do a brute force attack to guess up the private key.

No, it is the only one way to deal with the Bitcoin. It is needed for security, so you should keep your parsonal data more carefully. Some people use backups for these needs (even backups on pieces of paper).

If you lose your private key you will no longer use it to transfer and to deposit. Tour private key is just simply your password so that no one can use your wallet. So you must be careful with your private because in just simply posting it your coins will disappear

Your private key serves as your password, pin code, and your only sole access to your wallet. If you lost it, then you can never access it. Even if you know your address, you can't use it to access your wallet, only that, you can view your balance. Private key needs to be in your safe place or always have a back up for it. You must always secure your private key.

If you still have the wallet on your pc, you can just dump it again.

There are also tools that generate private keys online, based on your adress and wallet.dat file, but I can't confirm these actually work.

Let's hope you'll take this as a lesson, and that the wallet didnt contain to much coins.

Good luck.

Private keys should be kept properly and should not be disclosed to anyone. If you lost it you can't access your wallet anymore and your coins will be stagnant and locked in there. That would be the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

No, unfortunately you are unable to access your wallet if you dont have your private keys. That would mean your money is lost. So you must always guard your keys with your life. Always keep them in a safe place. In more than one safe place preferably so that if the house burns down, you will still be able to access your keys.

If you do not have access to a private key, you can not manage money. It's good. Because that's why we love crypto assets, that only the owner has the right to decide what to do with them.

basically if you lost your private key, you will never retrieve it again unless you will try to contact their support for taking chances.
certainly there is no way to go backwards from the public key to the private key, that would mean that anyone could steal your Bitcoin

Many wallets don´t use private keys. They manege public addresses for you to send or receive cryptos. Try to use those ones, next time.
As everyone said, the private key is like your life in the blockchain, and you can recover it

If you only lost your copy but you're still able to manage your Bitcoin, then it's not really a problem. Because you still have the ability to make either a transaction to a different wallet of yours or export the private key again. But if you're copy is lost and it is not included in the wallet then your funds are gone forever. So make sure you don't lose them.

Private key is very important without it we cant make access in our etherwallets. If we lost it everything and all the tokens that weve earned will be worthless. So we must keep it safe. As an alternative we can also make another copy of it just in case we lost the other one.

You cannot retrieve it anymore unless you have saved it from your desktop or any device, there should be a file that will be automatically download after you create your wallet, you can access it again by using that but if you didn't have that then there is no way you can retrieve the tokens that is currently on your wallet. Find the wallet file in the device you used when you create the wallet, just be sure you neither delete it or it got lost.

If you are stuck in such a situation sadly there is no way out. Losing private key means losing access to the pathway of your wallet. No one can help you transfer funds from this wallet. Only case where in such a thing is possible is if you are already inside your wallet.

You cannot get back your funds if you lost your private key. It is very important in crypto. You are unlocking your funds on the blockchain with your p-key. If you lost it then you don't gain access to it.
You cannot recover your wallet without private key. AFAIK the key itself can't be recovered as it is based on strong cryptography algorithm
Yes cracking a private key is certainly impossible as its a very long alphanumeric code. If even with the best technology available today we try to make a brute force attack to find such a key it would take years to find out your combination.

if you lose your personal wallet key, you can not open it again, and will not be able to transfer its contents to another wallet, because you have lost access to your wallet
if that happens, you just have to give up, and someday you have to keep your private key well, so that the same incident will not happen again, because it will hurt your own

If you lose the private key, you will not be able to trade with the coin in your current account. Because the private key is very important, it decides about the property you have in your wallet. When creating a wallet, I see the notice that if you lose the private key, there is no way to recover the wallet as well as the money in it. You will lose all your money and no more access to your wallet anymore. So this is also a lesson for you to be careful next time to save the private key.  ;D

That would be the saddest thing to happen to someone who have cryptocurrency. Losing your private key means permanently losing your coins. No one can access your wallet if you don't have the private key. It is not possible to transfer your tokens using only your wallet address, you really need the private key.

I believe this is an ethereum wallet because you mentioned about token. You can still retrieve you token if you save your JSON file and you still remember the password that you use. Once you access your wallet using JSON file, create a new wallet and make sure to have a backup of your private key and JSON file in case of accidental lost of your private key.

This is the sad the part losing your private key because losing it will not recover your tokens. The important in ethereum wallet is the private key this is the way you can open, transfer and deposit token in your wallet. Without it no other ways to recover.

Im sorry OP but you cannot retrieve it anymore the moment private key was lost, the last option you can do is to retrieve the json file in your hard drive if you cannot do it then it is totally lost.

Guys what will happen if you accidentally lost the copy of your private key?..it's still possible to transfer your tokens to your other wallet using your wallet address..?? Does anyone know?..thanks in advance
If your private key goes in wrong hands then he may empty your wallet. And without pvt key no one can access your wallet not even you and you also cannot make transfer into new wallet.
you will not get your coins anymore because to sell the coins you need a private key. so I'm sorry if that happens, because the results of your hard work will just disappear.

Hi! Sorry to hear about that. But i would like to assume you are using etherium wallet probably, if that so, before signing up you see that there are notes and disclaimers provided. That is why keeping your Private Key secure is the first priority to make. Transferring to other wallet and to be able to do so means you still need to access the account where your tokens are, but since you lose the private key i think it is not possible to open it of course and more to transfer the balances.

It is right. Private keys are too important, and losing it will really  cause you a big trouble.
Unlike other accounts or wallet, some  wallet used passwords instead of private keys and it is recoverable once you forget it but passwords has a possibility to cracked or hacked by hackers thats why it is still risky. But using private keys, even you cannot recover it once you lose it. It is really secured. It only depends on you if you take care of your private keys you wont lose it. Just like mine, i save my private keys in my phone's secret vault and also by having its backup in my google drive. Cool.

No, you can't transfer your coin just with an address, because if it's possible then we can steal other people's coins just by knowing their address.
As far as i know, there's nothing you could do if you lose your private key, since it's the way to open and access your wallet.
What you need to do is just let it go, and make other new wallet. Don't forget to back it up many times in many places though, just in case the same thing happens again.

Nope, there's no other way you could retrieve your wallet once you lost your private key. Even the platform itself couldn't help you with that. Try to be careful next time. Because your private key is really your only security against those hackers/scammers so please be extra cautious next time. There are a lot of ways you could back it up. But the damage has been done, and I'm so sorry that your portfolio is gone.

No private key -> no funds.

It is simple as that, if you are using a wallet that requires to you paste the private key in there everytime that you want to send funds, then you are fucked.

If you are using a hardware wallet, then there is no problem, but better to buy a new one and move the funds.

In decentralized wallets private key is the only source to access your wallet. You should always keep a double backup(both in physical and digital form) of your private key. There is no alternative to access the wallet without private key or seed, so nobody can really help you in this matter.

If you lose your private key then everything is lost, it is that simple, there is no way to get it back, now if you have the seed words of your wallet you could recreate your wallet and create the private keys once again, so make an effort to have that information as well in two separate places that way it will be almost impossible to lose your coins.

I assume that you are using an Ethereum wallet and not a Bitcoin wallet cause you are pertaining to tokens.

Private keys is the most essential with any kind of cryptocurrency wallets so if you lose it then there is no way you can retreive your wallets. You have no any insurance in getting back your tokens anymore but if you still have an access to your Keystore File(UTC/JSON) with password then you can still login to your Ethereum address.

yes i agree with your opinion, if lost private key, you can still access to your wallet by using keystore file, if the lost private key is for ethereum wallet

I will try to address your question in maybe a little bit more optimistic way than all the others before me. First, from what you ask and from your doubts I infer that your knowledge of the bitcoin and related matters is very limited. And it gives me hope to help you.

So you are saying that you lost a copy of the private key. I am thinking, that maybe following some advice you created a backup copy of the private key and then you lost it. BUT, maybe the original private key is still where it was, i.e. in some file created by the software for your wallet. So I suggest you simply try to set up a new wallet and try to move your funds from your original wallet to a new wallet. If I am not mistaken, you may as well succeed.

Good luck! Let me know what happened. You may tip me :) with BTC: 3NK7xMkrNYCFBj6rRB3wvusugatvwVxCSC

If the secret key to the MyEtherWallet wallet is lost, where tokens are stored, you can access them using the Keystore file, which is created simultaneously with the generation of the secret key when creating a purse. There are no other options.

You forgot to quantify then when quantum computing does hit the scene on the magnitude order to decrypt it, cryptography (at its current state) will be defunct (even the so-called quantum resistant cryptography which is like closing a sliding mesh screen door to keep a bad guy out) all blockchain in its current incarnation will be utterly worthless so what will be the point?

I have been working on cryptography for 10 years, I see the true gold in blockchain tech, I do.  I have been trying to write an algo for 2 years now that is truly quantum-proof.  The pricinple is the cryptographic blockchain must change when looked at that way everytime it is looked at or accessed it has changed rendering quantum computers and any hacker or government entity UTTERLY useless against it.

OBVIOUSLY the level the computers are at now-a-days its pointless to deploy this because moving coins around would take years due to computing speeds what they are at now (could you imagine downloading a entirely new blockchain to your computer every transaction at 10000tx per second)??

Just because current tech prevents it doesn't mean the cryptography isn't worth creating, plus its fun if you're into that sort of thing

Guys what will happen if you accidentally lost the copy of your private key?..it's still possible to transfer your tokens to your other wallet using your wallet address..?? Does anyone know?..thanks in advance

It is imposible for you to transafer your tokens to other wallet using your wallet address. If you have downloaded your wallet, then use the keystore files to access it. Lost private key is a serious issue if you have stored a lot of tokens in that wallet, so neglegence is you problem and next time be sure to keep you pk in a safer place to prevent loss.

True,we are the one who is responsible about our "PRIVATE KEY"  and if ever we lost it or we forgot even single word and number of that we can't access our wallet anymore. I had experienced that one already i lost my private key and i feel bad because the token that my bounty campaign paid me was already on the coinmarketcap and there is no way that i can access my wallet anymore so i should just move on and be so extra careful next time.

Professional market analyst say's that, there is a huge portion of bitcoins that is stucked in the wallet and not circulating on the market because some of the owners forget their password or they cannot retrieve their lost password on any exchangers so obviously you cannot retrieve any keys or password if you forget it.

It could be possible that some bitcoins stocked for that reason. Truly we can say that bitcoin is safe because of it's unique private keys but the problem is, once you've lost your keys absolutely it won't recover anymore. It is very important to have a back-up copy of all your account separate from you have normally used just like PC, memory card or even written in paper.

You will going to lost your coins because private keys is very sensitive that even if 1 character will be lost it will ruin everything in your wallet how much more of the entire keys. I just hope that you are just asking because of curiosity not because you have many coins in it so better back up your keys twice in a safe place so that in case you lost your file you have still a copy.

Putting a private key that related the letters or numbers on you or if they given you a private key must memorized this then don't lose the this valued things for you. As long as you have a private key you are safe in scammer.
Then if you lose it,. Sorry dude for your lose it is not traceable by admins of your wallet because you are the one who have a responsible on this. There's nothing you can do just forget your balance their and start again a new wallet hoping that next time it wont happen again.

If you lose your private key to an Ethereum wallet your tokens will be no longer be accessible if you don't have the Keystore / JSON file or Mnemonic Phrase

Or if you accidentally deleted it you could try a file recovery tool

Always make sure you use Meta Mask (https://metamask.io/) to protect your private keys and make several backups of them and store them offline

Better still use hardware wallets like Trezor (https://trezor.io/) or Ledger (https://www.ledgerwallet.com/) to store your assets

You can't transfer your coins if you lost your private key. it is the most important thing in accessing your wallet without that your coins will be forever lock, in that situation you can ask mod/dev of a certain coin if they can help you get back all your coins from lost private key.
That is not going to work either, remember when we are holding cryptocurrencies we are completely responsible for our money this is why I think there are going to be many more lost coins once more people begin to get in bitcoin not realizing bitcoin does not have the protections that many other services like emails have where you can recover your account with a phone number, but that is not possible with bitcoin.

I don't think that there is other way to retrieve your wallet. Private keys are essential when it comes to our wallet. Without this, we can not access our wallets. It is made like that to secure it from hackers. So losing it means losing all of its content. But if you're talking about ethereum wallet, I think the Keystore File will help you. I just hope you have a copy of it.

It will happen eventually when everyone has a quantum computer but then the defunct nature of the ever changing blockchain is moot.  The only way this happens is (lets just say I create a string based on Supersingular elliptic curve isogeny cryptography) n²*(Randomization ad infinitum).  Quantum computer looks attempts all cracks at once based on the look... and fails because the base code has been altered after the look.  Success! You have stopped quantum crack... but a continuous attack on the main chains will slow the entire blockchain to a near halt.  It is not efficient without significant advancements in the architecture that surpass Moore's law on the order of 10 over the next 20 years (assuming quantum computing really hits the scene in 2040ish.

Quantum computers for all will step forward before the speed of 0 or 1 machines achieves the ability to do this.  The only way would be to have a singular centralized blockchain with this string that changes.  All transactions would have to occur on sidechains (huge fan of the sidechain cryptos BTW) to prevent attacks on the main block, while the random string runs forever but it would HAVE to be centralized, and no one is going to approve or like such a centralized blockchain... it goes in the face of every reason we want decentralized currency anyways.

The world banking system will probably employ this though as credit's for replacement of cash as it gives them total control... this also negates the value of other blockchains as they will be able to see where all credits go and regulate every purchase through approvals and denials.  Blockchain tech is the way that they will control everything ... because we can't get unified behind one and no one is smart enough to make one the Grand Unified Crypto... we have sped ourselves toward the ultimate control mechanism.  Its funny that the system we wanted and created will be the undoing of everything we were trying to achieve.

Who is John Galt?  Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? Same story different author.

I think the developer will not entertain this type of problem as this is cause by the negligence of the users. Many had reported lost private keys and their coins will be in trap with their wallets and considered lost forever. So, be careful when keeping your private key because it's so essential.
But if you only lost access to wallet but still have your private key, then basically your coins is still there. Just use regular Bitcoin wallet and you can restore it using your private key.

Keep your private key safe at lest in two different places because once lost your business with that wallet comes to an end, you can only view your wallet with wallet address and can not move anything from it so be careful.

Cryptocurrencies are very unforgiving about this, once you lose your private keys it's over you cannot recover that money, this is not like bank accounts where you lose your password and you can always get it back some way or another, once you lose your private key or your seed words then there is nothing to do that is the way bitcoin is designed and that is never going to change.

Does your private key lost? Thats not a good news for you. It's is very important to have your key. What kind of wallet are you using? If you use myetherwallet, there are one option you can do (if you download it). Json can he download as you print out or write your private key. This is another option so you can open your wallet. It's like a backup if ever you forgot or lost your private key. If about bitcoins wallet, I have no idea how you will retrieve it, unless if you tell your beneficiaries about  your private key (to the one who will inherit in case something happens to you)

after we get the bitcoin or altcoin we keep it safely in a certain wallet so that others do not know the key, and do not get lost or forgot ,,, if the private key is forgotten or lost then all the coins we have will automatically disappear as well.

If you lost your private keys then its impossible to get your coins back. If you still have the computer that stored your Bitcoin, there’s a chance to get your coins back. This is under the assumption that your wallet file is still intact.

That is why we have be a responsible for keeping our private key safely. Because our private key is very important. We can not access our wallet account if we have lost our private key. So in order to prevent from lost private keys.. We have to puts some back-ups its either we save it from the USB or the personal loptop for assurance that in case we lost our private key, we have a back up.

A private key is used to sign your inputs and outputs which are the part of transaction. Without your private key you can no longer prove that you are the owner of these inputs. That is why storing your private key or seed is very important. Many people ignore that and they later blame Bitcoin for their mistake. Some people prefer making multiple encrypted backups, some write down their seed on the paper. There are also people who engrave their seed in the steel in order to make it fire and waterproof. Buy a hardware wallet if you are really paranoic.

Yes but that is only possible in case of Etherum. Myetherwallet gives you number of ways to access your account. But for bitcoin private key is the only way to access your wallet. You can also restore your wallet with the seed but i am afraid if these are lost there is no way of recovering the bitcoins and those bitcoins are lost forever.

no you can't transfer your coins if you lost your private key. it is the most important thing in accessing your wallet without that your coins will be forever lock, in that situation you can ask mod/dev of a certain coin if they can help you get back all your coins from lost private key.

That's how bad when we lost our private key.  Because we can not access our wallet account if we lost our private keys. So in this case we should always remember our private keys. Its better to memorize it in order to keep it safe. Because if some one found our private keys and they already know how to hacked that key. Then for sure our wallet was empty.

Correct, with the keystore file you can use it to access your wallet and you can get your private key again. If you only had private key and the keystore file is gone you can't get your private key again if you lost your private key. That's the time that there's nothing you can do and create new one and the old wallet with tokens will be gone or out of reach anymore. You better save the most important with the wallet, the keystore file utc/json contains your private key that is encrypted with the password you provided when you create it. Hope it helps.

use any programming language and code iteration of alphabethical and numeric sequence to find the exact account number.
This is the simplest way and no need for any degree, just knowledge in programming language, and of course, Time, Electricity, Idle hardware (good one), and some candy (No rice! or Meat! Private keys are very important. Once you lost it you cannot recover it and you will lose all your funds. You cannot transfer tokens either because once you lose it you will no longer have access to your account. It is recommended to keep your private keys in safe place and always make a backup like print it in a piece of paper then keep that piece of paper in a vault or save a copy of your private key in your flash drive. All of your funds will be just a waste if ever that you lose you private keys. That's why you must always take care of it. Don't blame the wallet if you can't recover your private key, you are the only responsible for it. If you lose it, it's because of you carelessness.

One great feature of cryptocurrency is that the wallet address is tied up with the private key. If not, I think there is nothing much you can do about it but to create a new one.

Mate, if your question is because you lost your PK, I'm sorry you might be able to get a solution from a third party. All solution is with you, that is if you can still find it. If it's MEW, it's a way for you to access the wallet and switch transactions easily. You should have a place to back up the private key. but as I say. It is very sensitive to anything.

I don't hear this kind of problem before has been solve.  :-[
This is extremely common people do not have backups and then when they lose their wallet they have no way to recover it, it is my opinion that you shall have backups you should even have backups of the backups that way no matter what happens you are not going to lose your coins this is especially important if you're holding an important amount of bitcoins because you never know what kind of value bitcoin is going to reach in the future in a decade or two.

There are a few  Key Recovery Services (KRS) that you can look into for whichever wallets you currently have access to. If you Google "Key Recovery Service bitcoin" you can find projects on Github as well as some paid services. I'm not sure how well the ones offering actual "decryption" function for wallet/private key recovery, but you can do your own research.

We're actually developing a KRS solution that involves multi-signature and biometrics such as facial recognition.

Guys what will happen if you accidentally lost the copy of your private key?..it's still possible to transfer your tokens to your other wallet using your wallet address..?? Does anyone know?..thanks in advance

It was very sad to know that lost private key's are not recoverable anymore because there are a lot of people today who are really old and they need to pass those keys to another person in order for their coin to be inherited by their family and to be useful.

Your account will still be active and coins might still be sent to it, thing is that you might not be able to log into your account and access your coins, its also unfortunate that a lost key cannot be recovered.

It would be a big mess if you lost your private key and you store your cryptocurrency in that wallet because no one can open that wallet of yours except that private key. If you are using that wallet for bounty then better you advise the developer to change your wallet address.

If you had access only to a private key, then the bitcoins are unfortunately lost. For example, the private key was on the flash drive and it was lost

If the private key was on the computer or on a flash drive and you accidentally deleted it, you can restore it, there are special programs that restore data

Yeah it is very true that our private key can be recover but mate it is very important to be careful about it because losing your private key can cause you a very big trouble. I think if you cannot keep your key safe with you then it will be good to use password wallet as some wallet use password only. It is recoverable if you forget about your password. Having private is very hard to recover once you lose it, so it is up to you if you will take care of your private key then you will not lose.

Always remember bitcoin is anonymous and there's no one who can control bitcoins, Unfortunately No there's no way to get back or recover your private key. Once you lost it you'll never find it. As describe with its name "Private" which mean its the only thing which can be used by its owner. You should make a backup or write in your paper just to remind it.

If you lose your personal lock, bad things will come to you. You have money in your wallet that has no way to access it. How terrible!
So, you should copy all your personal passwords for storage on software, hardware, papers ... But pay attention to security issues. If you are not careful, you may be theft of your personal key and they will access your wallet. What will happen then?...

if you lose the keys, the bitcoin are lost. No one else can recover them for you. I believe that by design they are unrecoverable, and also you cannot manage your bitcoins anymore (transfer, sell etc.). And generally this reduces the supply of circulating bitcoins, so the price goes up. Whether this is noteworthy depends on how many coins are lost. It's estimated up to 20% of Bitcoins have already been lost forever.. lost during the heady days when Bitcoins were very cheap.

Title: Re: Lost private key.
Post by: Tuare aget on March 31, 2018, 03:24:41 AM
A private key is used to sign your inputs and outputs which are the part of transaction. Without your private key you can no longer prove that you are the owner of these inputs. That is why storing your private key or seed is very important. Many people ignore that and they later blame Bitcoin for their mistake. Some people prefer making multiple encrypted backups, some write down their seed on the paper. There are also people who engrave their seed in the steel in order to make it fire and waterproof. Buy a hardware wallet if you are really paranoic.

Private key is the most important thing in wallet where we must have private key to open our wallet to make the transaction.
So lost of private key seems like yoy loss all of your asset which you store in the wallet. So we must keep it well to access the wallet back again.

Private key is the most important thing and if you lose your key there is no way to access your wallet. But if you have the Keystore / JSON File with password you can recover it. Just remember to keep your private keys in a safest place in future and if not you will lose your tokens again.

Theres no way you can access your wallet when your private key will be lost.Keep your private key safe, save it as one of you very special assets in your documents, keep a soft and hard copy on it.As a holder of this very special coin we must see to it that it is taken cared well. As we all know, in the block chain world, the private key is the only sign that you can use an address. Losing the private key is equivalent to losing ownership of the address, meaning that you lose the address and the money in the account will be locked forever. No one can help you access your wallet again.

Losing your private key means losing your funds too and there is now way you can recover it.  It is through the private key that you will be able to access your wallet, send and receive your funds, and nobody can open it unless they have the your private key. You must take full responsibility of your private key and keep it safe and secure or else your funds will be inaccessible forever.

If you downloded the keystore you can still have chance to recover your account.. You can use imtoken app then import your account via keystore by that you can access again your wallet and can transfer to other wallets and also you recover your private key once imported on imtoken app.

private key and keystore are the files that are very important to keep the assets that we have in the wallet if we lose both then we will also lose the money owned and there is no way to restore the file if lost so we must be careful in keeping both

You need your 12 words to get it back. So always write down your 12 words in a paper and store it safey. They form a seed that generates the addresses and private key over and over again. Without tthe 12 words, no way out.

If you lose your secret key from your wallet, you will never get access to your tokens. You will lose them. Therefore, securely store your key in several places, and not just in the computer. I also wrote down my key in my notebook.

I think the only solution right now is immediately transfering all your coins into another wallet, and it's better with a cold one , it's will be more safety .
Losing the copy of your private key is the worst thing that could be happened when you're holding your coins or your Bitcoins.
Just don't let anyone know about the exist of it or you'll be regret somedays.

I do not really understand about this yet, but after I find out it turns out this private key is very important. Losing your private key means losing your bitcoin. That's why we have to be careful with it, keeping it safe and having a backup copy is the only way we should do it.

:)   the private key is the most important thing to make access to a wallet and once lost is almost impossible to recover again unless backup or wallet service provided a recovery phrase which we backup in this situation offline backup of each one would ensure totally in safety is the wallet since you would be in control of the coins without anyone esle access for it .and in other words its a good idea to keep the wallet in mind because when it's gone its hard to really come back so double the be care and keep more than anything .

if you still have the Keystore File(UTC/JSON) stored on your device and you still remember your password then you can access your wallet, that is the only other way to access whenever you lost your PK.

There is a downloaded file on myetherwallet, i think it is a copy of a key or something im not so sure because i have'nt lost my private key yet. Private key is the most important of all because it is the key of your account rather than your password or pins to it, once you lost your private key there is no turning back and ways to get it back.

The loss of access to your secret key if you can not recover it or otherwise bypass it means a complete and final loss of access to your coins or tokens. There is no other way to gain control over a digital purse. In this case, you are left to forget about your coins.

Losing a private key for sure you will not open your account. Unless the wallet have email account that can attached and you cn easily to forget password and create new private key. But as of now all of the wallet like MEW only privat key so better to keep safe your account and keep to safe place your privte key that you know it will not erase or gone.

Private key is the most important thing and if you lose your key there is no way to access your wallet. But if you have the Keystore / JSON File with password you can recover it. Just remember to keep your private keys in a safest place in future and if not you will lose your tokens again.

Keystore / JSON file is for Eth only but for bitcoins the only secret key is the private key and it is the only way with which we can access our bitcoins. If this key is lost, then the bitcoins are lost forever.
Also if the private key is compromised, anyone can steal your coins too.

It is better for you not to think about it cause you can never access your account anymore.
This a big problem in using blockchain technology,  and I know a lot of have lost their private key which the code needed for accessing our account. That's why we should be very careful with that, keeping it safe and have back-up copies is the only way we should do.

Like bitcoin, once you lose your Private key, you lost the coin unfortunately. It’s totally decentralized, there is no admin system for it. If you use a common password, I would try going through all the possibilities. Being that it is decentralized, there are no limit to attempts.

Yes it's true no one can retrieve it. We must be responsible enough of our own private keys in such a way that we are giving security to our own assets.

Do a full search of your computer for “UTC--“ and see if the private key shows up.
Do a full search of your computer for your address without the 0x at the beginning.
If you know when you created it, look through all files during that time period for any documents or screenshots.

You are talking about the copy of your private key because you can transfer your phone to another wallet but keep in mind whoever have the copy of the private key can also access your wallet whenever he or she wants that makes your wallet vulnerable to others. Losing private key does not mean that he will lock down and cannot do with you but if you keep doing nothing then yes you can lose your wallet completely.

I am sorry for that and that means a permanent lost of money and token. There are scammers out there wanting you to make a mistake and they take advantage of you. Just open another and if you are lucky, scammers havent moved vital and important tokens. I am a victim of this same issue, i lost that account and now i just see token going into the acct and i cannot stop the scammer from moving it. It's a pity the vulnerablity of this private keys once you loose it.

private key is very important for the security of every token that we have, for that we must keep the secrecy do not let others know the private key of our wallet. because if that happens then we can lose every token we have in the wallet. every transaction or token transfer is always required private key from wallet adress, if we forget or lost private key then we can not transfer or transaction token from wllet adress.
