Title: Your first altcoin experience
Post by: aleksandra_kickcity on December 20, 2017, 10:05:48 AM
How did you decide to buy some altcoins istead of BTC? And Why?

There are a lot of crypto and its not that easy to decide which one to choose. Some still believe that BTC is the best way to invest. However its getting too expensive.

Obviously now not everyone can afford 1 btc , but this is still a myth there are many alts which give way more profit than btc the only difference is btc has less risks involved. People don't invest in alts because they can fall easily and the support levels are way lesser than btc.

I don't only buy alts or only hold btc i have divided my investments more in alts less in btc.
While deciding i normally check charts of the price or look for any hints given by any developer, for example how charlie teased something big with ltc which increased the price by 3 times.

For the first time i invested really small, so decided to go for quantity :) I checked marketcap to see prices and sorted by lowest price. Then checked 1 by 1, till i found 1 altcoin that i liked. I checked product, team, rumors and then i decided that this product/service can have potential in the future. So far i don't regret that buy.

Each person in general of course have a different plans in the investment he/she made, strategy or arrangement of the steps that has been determined and certainly is tailored to the fund owned.
Btc indeed is still the best way to invest, but besides that of course there's altcoin that can be used as an investment too, some the right altcoin to be invested., it certainly would be promising a high profits too and it's not much different like as investing in bitcoin. Well I personally, if I've enough fund.. I will prefer to spreading the investments in btc and some altcoin too.

I just look at the top 10 atlcoins, do more research about giant coins and finally do invest on at least three coins. Though lots of good coins that are out their I believe that I made a good decision. Yes bitcoin is getting too expensive but holding on it is still a profitable one, always trade with your strategy so you can earn profit.

Do you know any ways to attract people to crypto community?

I know just one. Is using KickCity platform, where users are rewarded for event promotion

the offer is super wide. You can try to read about as many running projects as you can and find
something with a viable use case. That is a good starting point.
Another way is try to invest little money in projects were the price is still very low cause
those project are easier to multiply in value (especially if they are not entirely nonsensical)

The reasons that makes me decides to choose altcoin because of the project with updates and development. Though btc is expensive yet you can choose altcoin that it has to offer or potential to grow the prices. Ofcourse by the flow or charts of the coin, value, supply, and volume these could help you to choose on which to invest.

Decided to buy alts because of my brother and got into ethereum at $6, made the stupid mistake of selling it at $60 and even though i lost a lot of potential profit without that happening I wouldn't be where i am today and it made me smarter.  ;D

I just interested in their business plan. Just like neo. i remember that i have participated in the crowdsale and i had bought around 10k neo. but i was selling all of them and that's my big regret about that.
the expensive of the bitcoin makes the smallholders will be so difficult to play in the bitcoin and alt can become an alternative way for that.

I got into BTC and Ethereum early 2016..  Unfortunately I also got scammed into TBC (The Billion Coin).  I just wish I had just held all my coins instead of parting with them into scam programs online.. I would be out on a yacht or playing night golf now if i did :(  Them the breaks huh?

The first alt was Ethereum therefore.

I don't think its too early to get into BTC, any increment is fine and you could have got it for a steal the least 12 hours or so.

My first altcoin was Hacker Gold(HKG)which at present is almost -80% now and it still feels bad to be part of the project. It was delisted from bittrex due to low volume. Then came VSL, which again was another failure.I am with wings now and hope this bad experience will not be repeated again.

I've decided to buy some altcoins when bitcoin's price is high and I am gaining a lot if profit in my investment. I then invested those earnings to altcoins that I see has a huge potential but before doing that I've researched first beforehand so that I can mitigate the risk that comes along in investing to other cryptos. The reason I decided to do so, is that there are quite a few altcoins that has a huge potential to be successful in the future and investing in them will make you earn faster rather than depending on bitcoin only.

My first was when I was just scrolling through this forum. I was looking for a coin that was somewhere in the 50-100 range on coinmarketcap. Didn't want to go for the top 10 because I thought they had less room to grow. Ended up buying some adex and made some money until they basically lied about releasing a prototype

Other than bitcoin I mostly goes to ethereum and litecoin only that will be gives perfect profit for me. But investing on cheap coins will not give the profit all the time to you. I will make you understand that think we'll, if you invest on the coin which is below than 1 USD we may find the dump 50 cent and you bought hundreds of coins means you will loose 50 percent of the mkeny but bitcoin will not let you find that you may loose the less amount only when dump as well.

My first experience from altcoin is from the airdrop. I got amaze when I able to exchange it. Ever since that day I decide to join the all other airdrops that is been appearing from the forum, hoping that I will be a participant to receive an airdrop. It is nice to have a ICO altcoin that will evolve and will be listed to other exchnages and will raise its value. But sometimes it is annoying to have a altcoin that will be abandon by its developer.

My first crypto was dash. I never forget when the price started soaring immediately I sold my coins. Man, I felt like crying. I've since made up my mind to leave at least a $10 value coin for every coin I'm selling for long term.

Choosing good project is not easy. One has to take pains to study and look up reviews about it.

Just how do you go about with the accurate analysis? Are there any metrics you consider when doing your analysis?

I got the first altcoins from the opportunity to get them either from mining or from airdrops. I was waiting for the exchange office or I sold it to the interested parties.
I was profited from them, but later I regretted selling them because the price rose enormously.  Altcoins are a good option to be profitable outside the bitcoin as it is possible today.
Many exchanges accept eth exchange for other altcoins.

My very first Altcoin was Ripple and then Ether.

Most altcoins do not have a true purpose and instead are tools to speculate once you understand that simple fact then it gets easier to invest in all kind of exotic altcoins, you need to look for a coin that you think is going to do fine in the next months and years, you look for a strong team of developers and a strong idea and then you invest on it and make money that way.

I do not remember which alt was the first one in my wallet, but the first alt that I bought was ETH. You probably will not make a mistake if you invest in a strong alt coin (or a smaller with a vision/useful product/great team) as even if it falls, with highest possibility it will eventually come back.

I know what you mean, while not true, it seems as if the coin was just waiting for you to get out to skyrocket, that happened to me once and that is a lesson I have never forgotten, that is why I'm more a holder than anything, I plan to hold to my coins until my coins skyrocket that also means that I mostly invest in coins in which I believe have a strong future ahead of them.

Even I didn't know what an Altcoin is until May 2017. But I do remember that from browsing a site I got noticed a google banner ad and clicked it then it takes me to boscoin .io site. There I read about ICO and Bounty. With 1% of faith, I took to participate in the Bounty work for social media for 3 months and got some 400 BOScoin. But during this period of time, I read more and more article about ICO and bounty and then find it is a real money and we could cash it and enjoy. But still BOScoin is in my wallet, currently not released by blockchain but I cash out some other Altcoin. But, mostly I give my special thanks to BOS coin team as the price is now above $3 and about to hitting some exchange.

I'm sure everyone understands that 2018 will be the year of alternative crypto currency, and now it's time to buy promising coins.

Analyzing many other projects on such criteria as the total number of coins, work in the community, self-financing, technology, and, after seeing how the developer works, I made a choice.
My choice - Spectrecoin XSPEC

I started buying altcoin about 6 months ago and I started with DGB. At that time DGB was worth more than 2000 satoshi. I invested in it because the community at that time supported it so much, I had trade surfing several times with it and also gained about 20%. However, after that there was a strong storm in the whole crypto market and the DGB was down continuously until now about 100 sts, luckily i cut it off at 1500 sts.

I found one ICO very interesting. Instead of mining you can get some ICO's by promoting them on social media, adding artists, venues,...

If you want to increase your start budget by using social media than you can check out @Viberate where you can get some tokens on daily bases for participating in promotional activities.
Check out also their road map and predict some changes in price related to updates.

They give away 5000VIB's daily and reward looks like this (depends on participation volume):

Dear XY!
Thank you for playing a part in the music revolution.
Below we're sending you a breakdown of your recent community participation activities on our platform.
Total amount awarded: 174.9220 VIB

You can read more about participation on link bellow:

I decided to invest in the Altcoins because they are diverse and offer a wide range of options. I advise the following: snvest in Altcoins while they are still at the ICO stage. This guarantees the cheapest price of a coin. The number of ICOs in the market is now literally a pond, and if you decide to dive into the dark world of altcoins, investing in the ICO stage is the best time to start. After ICO, the coins have literally one single scenario - to grow up.

But I still invested in anyway. I just heard about it and liked the name so I invested a little bit.

It is probably not the best of ideas to invest in bitcoin cash, imagine this, bitcoin finally activates the lighting network and it is a success, the only marketing feature that bitcoin cash has is that it has cheaper fees and faster transaction times and that is going to be blown away and the price of bitcoin cash is going to plummet, how are you going to feel when that happens?

many people are now more concerned with investing in BTC, it is because Bitcoin is very stable in every way and still rule in the world of cryptocurrency. but for me, will divide to invest on altcoin. and in the world of cryptocurrency it's hard to choose altcoin to be successful, but I think we can learn an altcoin from whitepapers or teamwork. because it can be used as a reference to know the prospects of altcoin. so we will not get stuck in failure.

I went in with Stox due to celebrity endorsement and this proved to be wrong. The price is below ico after the token was released on exchanges.Better to stay safe with such marketing and only invest in a project which has a strong base and team.

There are many projects in the market that have better technology than bitcoin. This is why I invest in altcoins
Projects like what?

Many people say things like that but most of the time that is not the case, as long as their projects are based on the blockchain designed by satoshi then the projects cannot be better in being a currency, ETH is better at smart contracts, but that is a characteristic not needed for a currency, besides smart contracts are possible in bitcoin as well they are just more difficult to create.

How did you decide to buy some altcoins istead of BTC? And Why?

There are a lot of crypto and its not that easy to decide which one to choose. Some still believe that BTC is the best way to invest. However its getting too expensive.

My first ALTcoin is LITEcoin, then I believe someday Litecoin will be side with bitcoin but since ETH comes my confidence fades. He gives more advancement than Litecoin and until now the second trading volume is ETH, indeed Now the bitcoin price is very expensive but bitcoin continues to peak heat will not be extinguished.

It's good for you, I hope my ethereum investment are raising up like your ripple. But I still believe and holding my ethereum coin, maybe this is not the time to increase up my ethereum.

However I still believe that if this coin catch a big whale, like bitcoin it will become successful. Hopefully that it will happen.

The story is same for us. We generally got some cheap altcoins in the past but we couldn't hold them in order to get the maximum profit. We couldn't guess the market would be this much big. Nobody did actually. We left the train earlier than we're supposed to leave. Not saying for ripple, saying for my past experience in alt coins.

My first experience is when I bought SiaCoin at 20ish Satoshi, and later I sell it for a quick profit because I really need a money. At that point, I believe the coin will be huge because a decentralized cloud service is a good idea but I really need quick bucks so I'm forced to sell it. I'm glad I jump in again at 40-50 sats. and now its really give me a good profit.

I am super new to the crypto world. I made the mistake of doing my first 200 dollar purchase of Bitcoin when it was at 19000. And I did with with a bank transfer on Coinbase. After I initiated that transfer, it wouldn't let me do any credit card buys until that transfer completed. It took me 8 days to get my coins. lol By then BTC was worth like 14k or 13k. At any rate the first two ALTcoins I bought were Ripple and Tronix, because I have some good friends that have been in the Crypto space for quite awhile and they got me excited about those coins. Now about three weeks into my cryptocurrency experience I have several coin positions in Altcoins, I always spend my BTC on other positions. I probably should keep some BTC on hand though. Loving this crazy and addicting Crypto world. I also found this site which seems pretty cool for some analysis anyways on coins, as far as research goes. https://coincheckup.com

Let me think about it, if I am not wrong i got my first alt coins from a bounty campaign that i participated. Then i started trading using that coin and one investment followed the other. Alt coins are fun to follow and trade. If you know what you are doing you can profit a lot in short time.

If you can see here according to today's market condition it is not easy for a common man to buy 1 BTC and hold it for the long term for investment purposes. The first altcoin which I bought was Ethereum because it was one of the major coins next to Bitcoin as it was indicating some good tradeable chart patterns and Ethereum was having good trading volume even at those starting days and it was enough for me to pick that Ethereum and invest my capital here for long-term movement.

I bought several altcoins, but I immediately sold them when I made a small profit ... I did not imagine that the price of the altcoins could continue to increase so much .... In 2018 I decided to keep some altcoins in my wallet and do not sell them for at least 6 months

I still have not bought an altcoin yet. But I do believe that altcoins are the future to becoming rich. If you invest in an altcoin that is under developing, knowing that one day it will reach a higher value, you will get so much profits adding the profits of the other altcoins you already invested in.

However, bitcoin plays a major role too regardless of its expensive price. I would have just waited for the price to go down so I can buy because I believe that the bitcoin price will go up in a matter of time.

I was in with ripple and doge and sold quickly after having some less faith in both of these.Today these are almost 50x and this was one bad decision I ever made.I sold BTC when it didn't have much marketcap and never expected to reach this high.

Actually I started off in crypto by buying an altcoin, to be specific I bought ETH about a year ago. I then exchanged some of that Ether to BTC and this was the first time I got hold of some BTC. I like altcoins a lot as there is such a huge variety in them, actually there are too many altcoins that I want to buy nowadays, I really have to limit myself to select only a few that I like the most.

I just rely on my feeling and the list of market cap to determine the coin that I choose to invest, at least I choose some coins that are well known and enthused many people then I hold it in the long term.

I invested all the capital I had in DGB a few months ago, at that time DGB is worth more than 2000 sts, the community is supporting it a lot, DGB has a slight increase but then it's continuous devalued and I had to sell a loss of 50% of my capital. After this I never traded my entire fund in a coin anymore, it was too risky. But mistakes can be made and that is my lesson.
