Title: Where to find Developers?
Post by: WhitePaperIII on December 26, 2017, 04:58:51 AM
If I have an idea I would like to be brought to life but do not know code for cryptocurrency where could I find some developers to hire? How much do they usually charge?

Depends on the quality of their work I would guess.  Anonymous script kiddies might work for $10/hour.

To program a new cryptocurrency and all it's amenities (block explorer, wallet, miner, etc) you are looking for at least several hundred hours of work.

The are lot of source in which you can learn to do coding .You can simply enroll for some program so that you do the coding on your own or help yourself from various vlogs available online.

There are places like AngelList, Upwork and similar freelance platforms where developers offer their services.

But please, please make sure you vet them, interview them well and pick the right one! You don't want to make the mistake of picking the wrong (read: incompetent) person for your job!

I think it's better for you to find a developer as a partner. Google for freelancers.
Because if you will hire developers, but you have lack of experience in project management you can loose money and not succeed.
Anyway, before hire someone study at least Scrum methodology

Yeah going to a freelancer platform would really be you best bet in finding someone suited for the job.
You'll probably be able to find someone with experience on Upwork or Guru for example or perhaps even Fiverr for smaller jobs like logo design or writing (if needed).

It also couldn't hurt to post something here in the forum in the 'Services' section, but make sure you don't get scammed and find a reputable member.

If you're looking to start an ICO or coin, there are certain companies that offer specific services for that too.

You might check the services sections there are tons of developers out there that are offering their service https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0

For quality devs you might paid hundreds of bucks per quality work or it can be good for the whole week.

But where would hire such peeps from?

You can also check out xbtfreelancer.com

My suggestion for you try to find IT engineer in real world, which you can call on phone every day. let's project it all necessary things. After that you can start to find developers where each one will make a certain segment that knows best.
It is best way to keep your business under your control.

I'm new. But I understand that:
1. To trust something worthwhile to anyone is suicide.
2. We need an architect. And it is better if he becomes a co-owner of the project.
3. Price list is growing from the quality of specialists. The most dashing and competent of Russia and Ukraine.
Conclusion . Look for an architect who will correctly assign your task, will have a keen interest for the project to start.

Your best finding out who has coded large services or coins in the past and approach them. Be aware though good coders do not work for free!
You may be looking at a heavy cost to code a new project not only that most coders already have a large work load so you would need to have much of the planning laid out.

I wouldn't hire any of them from fiver for serious job, just my opinion. To be fair, you can find a lot of serious and very talented/creative developers on envato but I as far as I know bitcoin isn't popular thing there. So better to PM some of them, they are really great.

Developers from Belarus and Russia charge around $ 35 to $ 40 USD per hour.
Developers from India also charging the same and few high end developers are charging $ 100 USD per hour.  If some one say that they only charge $ 10 or $20 , they are not Blockchain Developers

Lol , this comment made me crack,

I Have not been in crypto world for long , but I have been in gaming for a long time.
Usually been in private server, in terms of choosing your developer you wanna know the language you wanna write your code at, because usually good developers can use all languages fluently, but there is always preference for each programmer on using one language as his main language.

Try determining your language before choosing or at least, then go to the closest university you know that teaches programming and developing or ask someone for a student programmer seniors only, they will be glad to try new things especially for a sum of money.
or you can ask people you know if they know someone who learnt as programmer, and contact in real life (contact with phone)

this gives you advantages of working together as a project and understand each other faster.

I agree that you can try freelance jobs site like freelancer.com or similar.
also linkedin can help you a lot, try to search there.
another useful source is GitHub, which actually united developers, programmers and etc.

Developers love 2 things - normal tech-task, and money) if you have both - go for it! For example, you can look on linkedin , it's shown in profile if a person is now searching for a job. There's a lot of really good russian guys, less expensive and yet professionals, who speak english more or less, so you can check russian freelance dot ru , just use auto-translate.

What type of developer are you searching? You have to clear about that what type of developer you need then you can get a solution. There are many types of developer available of many countries offers to do work for money. So that you have to pick the right person who can complete your work perfectly.

The partners of near at you the best solution but if it not possible then you can search them on google or other places like Fiverr or Upwork. There are many developers who are the expert so talk with them clearly and choose the right person carefully. You can get much benefit if you can pick a right developer for your work

Lately I’ve been looking on an application/website called Fiverr.com it seems to have just about everything you’re looking for if it has anything to do with work on the computer.I have been using it for a few months now and have yet to have a bad transaction, so I do not know what happens when you’re not satisfied with the work you paid for.I assume judging by the reputation and reviews that you were easily protected on the website. Check it out.

You have to make sure that what type of developer are you searching. You will find the expected developer if you clear about what type of developer you have needed. You have to pick the right person who can complete your work perfectly because there are many types of developers available of many countries offers to do work for money.
The best solution can be your nearest partner or you can search them on google or other place like Upwork or Angellist if that is not possible. You should talk with them clearly and choose the right person carefully because all the developers are not expert. I think that this ofrum is a good place to start. After Initial contact, I would ask to see the Portfolio of the potential hire.

I think that might actually work better than resorting to freelance Websites.

From https://crewnew.com database you can find few trusted/tested senior programmers with crypto experience from Eastern-Europe $20-$35ph. There will be always project manager between customer and programmer(s) to make sure projects' failure rate is minimal. Also, simple parts of the project can be done by younger devs under senior's supervision with lower hourly rate to bring costs down. Database contains best people found manually over past decade + analysed and manually picked from Linkedin, UpWork, PeoplePerHour, Reddit, Github, forums, freelance sites, competition/exam sites etc. etc.

2. We need an architect. And it is better if he becomes a co-owner of the project.

I am old and during the Dot.CON boom I was getting these types of proposals all the time from
people that needed free programs because they thought they had a world beating master plan.

Sure I could clone someones existing project and get something working in a few months
but you are looking at years and years of work with a team of good developers to get something
started from scratch.

Maybe on year two the tulip mania comes to an end and then what would you do even if you had
the money to gamble on such a large development

I won't advice you to choose random feelancer because your project is critical and it involves high security. I would advice you to make a research about it and choose a worker whom have a previous experience on it. Make them part of the project and do not just pay them off because if any coding goes wrong, they should be able to fix it quickly or been hold responsible. Their should payment range from 100$/hr.

The amount developers charge typically depends on;

1. The amount of experience they have
2. How much work they currently have active.

If you really want to hire an expert, or a high quality developer for your field, you're going to need to pay a good salary, don't expect high quality work paying minimum wage. For most things this is true, particularly for coding and project development.

You can find suitable candidates on sites like upwork and freelancer, where you can set the price for individual jobs you need completing.

Yes the demand for developers are obviously high these day .The rapid rise of blockchain has created a skills shortage, as demand far outstrips the number of talented and experienced individuals who can undertake the tasks that companies are working on. Because of this, it is incredibly difficult for a business to find the right blockchain developer for their needs. However, a chect on this web sites will greatly help you get a good  candidates.

If this is a one-time job, then try to find a freelancer - it will be cheaper (On the Upwork 50-100 per hour) but if on full-time ... it's harder. Look at the special coder or crypo sites. And always give them test tasks

Since blockchain technology is still relatively new, there are few developers with experience in this field.  Solidity programmers are especially difficult to find.  If you have some programming knowledge, perhaps you can become a blockchain developer yourself.  Google the phrase "How to Become a Blockchain Developer: Crash Course".  There is an excellent article on how to get started.  Good luck.

Knowing somethings about programming would help.
So you know what is possible and what is simple to do.
There are a ton of libraries and languages to choose from.
Know what best fit for your project.

Explain your project on paper, drawings etc.
Send it to a few development companies and ask
Them what the fixed price is for setting it up
And what the price will be for maintaining adjustin.

Also include that there are penalties for the company
When they dont deliver on time and when there are to much bugs / security issues.

Hi,

Following your post, price depends on the scope.
I would suggest you to start from summarizing requirements and when some project brief is ready, you could share that for tech review and estimate with one or several developers. We deliver such a brief as a part of the project before project starts.

Speaking about our related background, we are currently working on the platform for currency exchange, (Cryptowallet, bitcoin, Lightcoin and Karbovanets) and another project we work with is crypto exchanger(aggregator) for several cryptocurrencies.

Let us discuss details under PMB,

Happy to chat,

Jen

Blockchain development is way more difficult than other development activities out there, for a simple reason --- once deployed it is really hard to fix bugs (in some cases impossible). Hence do pay proper developers reasonable sums. I know everyone here wants to make money by deploying a token/new blockchain/fork but skimp on the cost to get a proper developer and auditing team. A DApp can take hundreds of hours to create (not a simple stack) as the amount of testing that needs to be done is really significant.

Job board sites are the best place cos you would be getting it at a relatively cheaper rate, cos of the fierce competition. Upwork is usually my go-to Job board for coding jobs. Also, you don't wanna get a freelancer for that kinda job on fiverr, cos it's very easy for freelancers to  buy good reviews and lie about their nationality on fiverr, which isn't the case for Upwork. However I have no real-life experience on freelancer.com.
Finally, if you would be getting an Upworker, make sure you get someone with at least a 500 working hours, an Impeccable track record of client review, and one whose profile, portfolio, and cover letter is convincing enough. Just look well before leaping.

Development is difficult right now as it's likely more profitable to launch an app then get paid to build one. Many of the people you hire may simply be re-skinning existing software without understanding any of the inner workings of the code. I would suggest looking through GitHub for people that specifically contribute to apps or core code for whatever platform you are targeting. You may want to consider smaller contributors because larger contributors are likely to be core team members of that platform.

Good luck!

1. XBTFreelancer is a freelancing board that deals with payments through bitcoins only. Employers can post project listings, and freelancers can bid on them. Once an employer has selected a bid, they can then use escrow to fund the project. Some features include full site SSL and payment escrow.
Website link: https://www.xbtfreelancer.com/
2. Cryptogrind. It's basically the Bitcoin Fiverr. In this site, you will be able to offer your work or look for freelancers and pay or be paid in Bitcoin.  The site is pretty straightforward and its design is actually pretty standard for these kinds of sites. You go there and there will be plenty of people offering their services. You can choose to pick or be one of them.
Website link: https://www.cryptogrind.com/services
How it works: https://bitcoinexchangeguide.com/cryptogrind/
3. /r/Jobs4Bitcoins
The subreddit Jobs4Bitcoins features both “for hire” and “hiring” posts. An average of three new posts go up per day, ranging from alpha-tester roundups to college students looking to hire out a research paper. Because the posts live on Reddit, there is no built-in escrow service for employers’ funds to be held for freelancers. Users will likely want to employ a third-party escrow service like EscrowCoin or BTCrow before beginning any work. Moderator of the Jobs4Bitcoins subreddit Matthew also offers his own escrow services. Really technical employer/freelancer pairs could avoid third-party fees altogether by just using a 2-of-2 multisignature address between themselves to hold the funds.

Plus, well-known Freelancing Platforms

1. Upwork. Upwork, formerly Elance-oDesk, is a global freelancing platform where businesses and independent professionals connect and collaborate remotely.
How it works: https://www.upwork.com/i/how-it-works/client/
Website link: https://www.upwork.com/
2. Fiverr. This one is the world's largest online marketplace for freelance services, beginning at a cost of $5 per job performed, from which it gets its name.
How it works: https://buyers.fiverr.com/en/article/how-fiverr-works
Website link: https://www.fiverr.com/
3. Guru. Guru.com is a freelance marketplace. It allows companies to find freelance workers for commissioned work. Founded in 1998 in Pittsburgh as eMoonlighter.com and still headquartered there.
How it works: https://www.guru.com/howitworks.aspx
Website link: https://www.guru.com/
4. Envato. It's the world's leading marketplace and community for creative assets and creative people.
How it works: https://studio.envato.com/how-it-works
Website link: https://envato.com/
5. Freelancer. It's a global crowdsourcing marketplace website, which allows potential employers to post jobs that freelancers can then bid to complete.
How it works: https://www.freelancer.com/info/how-it-works
Website link: https://www.freelancer.com/
6. PeoplePerHour. It's a UK-based company whose function is as an online platform giving businesses access to thousands of skilled freelance experts in hundreds of different fields.
Website link: https://www.peopleperhour.com/
How it works: https://www.peopleperhour.com/static/how-it-works-seller

I'd like and hope to be helpful ;)

Cheers

If you want something done do it yourself. Learn, sweat, rip your hair out until you get it working. We all started from nothing.

Or just dump a couple thousand dollars on legitimate developers.

I run a blockchain development company and I've worked on all levels in the past. So I'll give you my perspective on this.

Fiverr is only for the absolute most basic of tasks. Don't hire anyone there for anything more than design work. You can get a cheap ERC20 there too if you want one for testing. The ERC20 tokens you get there though usually won't have a lot of customization to them. It'll just be a clone of an existing token.

Upwork and Freelancer are great resources for individual developers. If you have a small project, maybe just a proof of concept, then this is the way to go. You can hire a person there to accomplish a lot for less. There are a few hangups though. If you aren't technical yourself then you can easily hire a poor developer. The better the developer the busier they likely are. It's a give and take in order to save money with a freelancer. They may disappear midway through the project. You have to develop a lot more trust when they are handling your private keys and other sensitive information. The less you know the worse you will be using this option. However, if you are very technical and good at project management then the better off you'll be.

With blockchain development companies. The ups and downs here are obvious. You have a collection of experienced blockchain developers working strictly on this one type of software. It makes it an expensive option. These are professionals who want to get paid for their skills. However, there are many advantages. They can likely accomplish everything you want correctly the first time. This may save you money in the aggregate as you won't have to pay for so many revisions. It may also save you a lot of time. Blockchain companies can also use their experience for consultation. They can contribute to the vision of your project - whereas a freelancer will likely just do as you say whether that helps or hurts your project. They've also been around long enough to know they aren't going to run off with your data.

If you need any help I can answer any question at email: eric@infraexdev.com

we typically ask 900 -1500 for something basic,
that would include if needed

customizing your artwork,
(you get to make as many changes as you like pre win mac build)
building your Nodes ,
building your Explorers ,
building your pool ,
Starting your chain
checkpoint your chain ...( this ones getting missed a lot these days)
We set up your github and and download links if you need ,
we can refer you to bot masters for discord if thats your thing,

you also get access to our support channel its in our lab so someone
is almost always there if you need help with something

something more complex can get quite expensive ,
if your trying to have a unique algo or some crazy masternode setup
thats never been done before it requires more attention ,
more people working , more people getting paid ,

something we will not do is take on a role as  developers on a client project
we are software developers , we will support your code and network as long as you like
we will not however participate in selling an ico or appear as part of your project development team.

all that being said there is another room called dev heaven on discord its full of devs for hire i think

If I have an idea I would like to be brought to life but do not know code for cryptocurrency where could I find some developers to hire? How much do they usually charge?
It's mostly not easy to find investors just like that this days cause, gone are those days that people just put their money into a project with just a little or small research. With the way  the price of bitcoin just decreased, many investors invest in a project because the project is a working project not just an idea.
So if you want people to invest in your project,  it's best you first establish your project with the little fund you have,   if its solving a problem, then willingly investors will flow in.

Posting in the services section is usually the right way.

I regularly look for jobs/gigs on there. Realistically, have a respectable budget (and be open about that budget, don't attempt to play games), and look for a reputable developer (past experience, etc). If everything checks out, it shouldn't be too difficult to find one.

Also, if you're only planning on paying w/ equity/tokens, be upfront about that. It makes it easier and doesn't waste any time for the developer or yourself.

If you're looking for a developer, I am free for work. Shoot me a PM if so.

Read all answers before write. Didint find the same so i will be the first who offer my solution

Check on coinmarketcap, i recommend to search from top 100, find good working project, go to web-site of project, check team information (CTO for example), conntact to them and ask about developers team. Maybe some of them would like to make some outsource tasks for you, or recommend their friends.
I think, its the best way to find professionals and more safety, case they will not risk their reputation by cheating you  ;)

Hello,

Shameless ad here, if anyone needs a serious developer, I'm starting from 75$/hour.
You can see some of my open source projects at https://github.com/belzebalex, I'm also the main dev of https://kaktana.com and also built https://crypto-analyse.com (the latter sucks because client's speficiation sucked)
I'm fluent in Golang, C, C++, Javascript, Python, HTML/CSS (but don't ask me to do HTML), and I'm having a level in X86 Assembly.
I know how to do secure things also
I might seem expensive hourly, but I'm doing the job very quickly and with a very good quality.

Alex

If you're wanting to pay with Bitcoin, simply post in the server section describing exactly what you want. Have a budget, it's way easier to find a developer if you're upfront about what you want. Good developers won't take advantage of this, and it'll be easier for us to quote & provide features within your budget.

If you're wanting to pay w/ fiat, I'd reco Freelancer.com (if global) or Craigslist (or a local postings site) for finding a local developer. I wouldn't recommend using Freelancer.com for local, since the fees just aren't worth it.

I'm a developer myself w/ 10+ years experience, so if you want to shoot me a PM, by all means, go ahead :)

I would say go to hackathons (that are not pure coding, which most are, dont go to like defcon/mosec/POC thats for actual hacking) and participate providing a key role.  Most teams are Hackers, Hipster Hustler, hacker is the backend / frontend coder, hipster is the UX / CSS / Frontend coder, if you have no coding experience the only thing left is to hustle, do not command the team, but work around the clock to make sure they feel comfortable and all their needs are fulfilled, you will make great programmer friends quick that way.

You can find them on Fiverr they, their portfolio, the price they charge and their clients are posted on their profile page, you can also find them on the services section of this forum they have a dedicated thread all the information you need to know are there, price works portfolios and testimonials go for threads that are not moderated to get a true picture of their works.

already did get for sure after all these years.

On topic, not only on this forum alone you can find developer but also on freelancing sites too.
