Haha you didn't buy in and your upset at that? I had a bunch of Ripple at 20 cents and sold at a slight loss at about 18 cents. It would have been a sick ride up for me had I held, goes to show the power of holding.

ripple should be removed from coinmarketcap and not be considered a cryptocurrency

people now still think because something costs many US-dollars it is valuable, but this thinking will fade away in the future,

It passed Ether on marketcap but not on value. I still believe it will go cross in the value of 5$ soon but still Ether is the queen to Bitcoin. ;D

Thanks to the support of banks and the active introduction of technology in their infrastructure, Ripple blockade looks like a promising investment target.  When more investors learn about XRP and realize the importance of technology, the prices for XRP will increase many times already in 2018.

I actually don't like Ripple very much because of its nature (kind of a private blockchain and not really decentralized, which is against my beliefs), but hold a few due to diversification purposes. I think though Ethereum and other alts are way more valuable than XRP.

Why would anyone use Ripple?! The technology is so fucking centralized, the amount of coins the dev holds is insane. It got every component for a major disaster.

It's really amazing, I always say Ethereum on the 2nd place, it's good too see some potential in other goins. It gives me hope regarding the other projects that are under Bitcoin and Ethereum, it means they are not there to say. Kings fall.

Seems more and more banks adopt Ripple and the price will go even higher.

Could Ripple ever overtake Bitcoin for rank 1?

There is no doubt that the altcoin market has been behaving in such an irrational and illogical way that it is increasingly difficult to predict with certainty the direction and the great movements of the market. Having a great development of new cryptos that offer to solve the disadvantages of the bitcoin and the blockchain in general, one would think that the old altcoins would be easily relegated by the new ones, but to see the resurgence of old cryptos like ripple and litecoin makes me doubt the reliability and sustainability of these surprising and unexpected pumps.

Ripple and ethereum are making some noise now and it seems these alts will really having a good appreciation in the past few days while bitcoin continuously decreasing these promising alts are quite encouraging many investors to go over them. We are heading the next chapter of crypto currencies and I think 2018 will become a very exciting years for all cryptos

Isn't Ripple exactly the opposite of de-centralisation? I believe there is a dump coming eventually.

Most coins are centralized in one way or the other, be it hashpower or nodes. The thing is, Ripple isn't exactly built for everyone. It's a company, a product made to cater to financial institutions. It's a private chain, I won't look at it like some other crypto if I were you.

It's been interesting for a long time all this. For such a situation already, it's interesting whether Ripple can stay in 2nd place?

I have never been a fan since the team owns so many coins, however it is always nice to see competition. I am guessing it will come back down.

90% of the people putting into it probably don't even know the ins and outs of it.  They see some cheap coin and think its a chance to ride the "crypto get rich wave."  I've had SO many friends and family ask me about it and why?  Because they found CoinMarketCap, saw a $0.70 coin in the top 10, and thought "Hey that's cheap!"

That's what everyone who is doing that is pumping this thing thinking it'll ever break $10 bucks because they saw the rage of BTC and LTC getting pumped back in early December and the news started getting Crypto crazy. 

This coin is gonna get dumped so hard when it hits its peak and just like every single high that came before it, people will get burned because they weren't there to watch it and put a stop or sell.

Actually I see no justification to think that Ripple is superior to ethereum, nor do I see a logical basis to justify this exponential increase in the price of Ripple. this is just a clear sign that people are only looking for the least excuse to speculate with a cryptocurrency as soon as a rumor is heard around it, which sooner or later will end up ruining this market.

Ripple Altcoin is now in the great performance today. It was in the second rank  of the coin market capitalizations today. Very surprising that it beat the ethereum in terms of marketcap.

Ripple basically mimicking the structure of real money (centralism, monopoly) is a good explanation why banks use it - and it is also a good explanation why you, who mostly are not a bank, should be careful.

LOL, just because some people have invested in Bitcoins does not mean US dollars are going to be insignificant. You do realize that most people on Earth still recognize US dollars as the global currency, right? Cryptos are becoming mainstream, but that does not mean fiat will lose its value. Ethereum market cap is very close to ripple today. There is only 4 billion USD difference. I think ethereum will be again #2 soon in coinmarketcap. But we all witnessed that high p&d potential of xrp once again  :)

Ripple is breaking the basic rule of crypto

As I've checked in CoinMarketCap, Ethereum's market cap is getting closer to Ripple by 4 million. I strongly believe that in the next few days, Ethereum will overtake Ripple again.

I was expecting that Ripple may grow slowly but surely this year, and it may reach up to $5 or a bit more by the end of 2018. It's just a realistic prediction.

I only had a few Ripples in my possession, so I don't mind holding it for the long term.

I expected a run up in price, but this exceeded my expectations.  Good opportunity to take profits.  I personally think Ether has more to offer and should be valued higher.

Hodling is very essential especially when you are investing and when time comes that the coin you invested goes down. I was even surprised too when Ripple is surging that even surpassed ETH market cap. It's been a roller coaster ride for Ripple but it's slowly plunging now and ETH is closing in to surpass Ripple's market capital.

Why would you call coinmarketcap stupid? The fact that XRP did not pass ETH in value, does not mean it did not pass it in market cap. That is the main reason why it got the second spot. You can decide to filter by value and I am sure we both know even XRP will not be the top 10. Coinmarketcap is fashioned to list all coins based on market capitalization and that is very reasonable.

It looks crazy when ethereum and ripple were pumping at the same time. even the marketcap of ethereum close to the ripple and then the community gives a reaction to pump ripple to another level again and we will see the bitcoin dominance will be less and less anytime. Lol I was in the same boot with you because of impatience.  I sold off all my ripples at almost at loss and invested it in another altcoins. I am learning my lessons and learning very fast. HODLing is my favourite word now after such impatient actions in Ripples and even DENTcoin.

Six months ago I wanted to buy ripple but changed my mind due to public opinion. Unfortunately I could't assess its potential. Now I do not want to buy becouse Ripple has reached its limit.

I kind help but agree that Ripple is close to or not already at its limit in terms of price. Whereas I feel ethereum can grow much more. Ripple being in second place will be short-lived in my opinion and we will soon see ethereum reclaim this place, 1k ethereum will surely happen before long.

I was in this position too and I really gave up on XRP. I do not regret it anyway as I only wanted to trade it anyway and have some few profits on it as it seems a project that I have never been comfortable with. Nevertheless, it is always good to hold anyway most especially for a coin that you believe in and probably that could have been a reason I failed to hold XRP anyway.

Ripple has passed Ethereum to occupy the number 2 spot in overall market cap, it has been in the top 5 for some time probably largely helped by the large quantities of the supply. I think it will continue to grow in value especially as its primary use is with the Banking industry for money transfers. 2018 is likely to be another year of growth for XRP.

You can just go through any exchange.
It is listed on bittrex, so you may want to get registered there and then load up some bitcoin into the exchange and then get XRP. It is as simple as that. I am not a great fan of XRP anyway but for profit, I would not say I did not get some as I saw this coming, so it is all good. However, for holding sake, XRP is not just my style as I am so tired of centralization.

Surely this is just a temporary situation XRP price is started to go down like what i expected the coinbase listing is just a FUD.

I dont think any other altcoin takes #2 from ethereum for so long time this year. ethereum is still most useful altcoin with its blockchain and smart contract technology. all icos need ethereum technology to run.

People are looking for a coin that they can trust. They want to know the team behind it. And accepting of blockchain is impossible for the world in any other way. We shouldn't deceive ourselves. So coins like ripple will eventually succeed.

hahaha I'm a massive holder of XRP before. but after reading about their black plans. I sold them all with no regrets. but still got 400% profit begire exiting. :)
If xrp will pump very hard today I still will never regret selling my holdings.
