That is understandable, but persons on the other side of course feel the same! And they are facing a Jr. Member whereas you are facing someone with higher forum rank.
Still, it's dangerous to send first for any party; forum ranks only give a hint one someones trustworthyness. Better check the trust page.

1. Search for a reputable escrow service from the forum (there is special list / topic i can't point to right now).
2. Both parties send their funds to the escrow.
3. The escrow confirms payment and releases the funds vice versa.

Because it's a new project and no one is certain how it will develop. It may look promising but I've seen many promising projects go south. Given the amount of good projects around , I don't think 1ETH for even 10k is under priced at this stage.
