Today the infamous Mark Zuckelberg has announced that he will be looking into integrating cryptocurrencies into his website. That could be a crazy step fot the cryptocurrency market. He said :
"one of the most interesting questions in technology right now is about centralization vs decentralization. A lot of us got into technology because we believe it can be a decentralizing force that puts more power in people's hands. (The first four words of Facebook's mission have always been "give people the power".) Back in the 1990s and 2000s, most people believed technology would be a decentralizing force.

But today, many people have lost faith in that promise. With the rise of a small number of big tech companies — and governments using technology to watch their citizens — many people now believe technology only centralizes power rather than decentralizes it.

There are important counter-trends to this --like encryption and cryptocurrency -- that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people's hands. But they come with the risk of being harder to control. I'm interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services."

To be honest I don't trust this guy. Facebook have extremely strong censorship and they are banning everyone for "hate speech" and monitoring user's behaviour (and ofc leaking everything afterwards). Facebook right now is extremely far from giving "the power to the people" and if they make their coin it will definetely be a garbage. I would rather expect something good from Telegram devs.

If this really happened, that would be an unimaginable boost for crypto economy. I guess it will happen eventually but i wouldnt want it to b just now since i dont want a potential buble to burst before we make our profit. ;D

Zuckerberg speaks in favor of decentralization, but facebook is one of the most massive cases of centralization happening on the Internet. So I guess that if and when they would add cryptocurrencies to their services, it would end up being everything but decentralized.

Probably have plans to make their own token, don't be so happy that will use any of the coins you thing is good.

It's natural thing to use crypto if you are a founder of a huge IT company like FB. It should bring a lot of benefits in future!

This are very good news. Facebook have the biggest community among social media platforms, and billions of people are using it around the world. When it support crypto currencies he make very valuable advertising about this currencies indeed and allow more people to know more about them.

Slightly sceptical of such large companies entering the cryptosphere, and what that means for the long run.

In the short run, it most likely means the market will continue to grow.

I mean it's either that or not regulating it at all , It sucks in both cases . 2018 will determin the future of cryptocurrencies for sure . We just have to wait and see i guess.

The bad thing about the ripple total market capitalization already a half of bitcoin market capitalization, The ripple ceo has an intention to build interbank payment system which makes all of the truth gets revealed if ripple aims to be the real banker coin or at least their system used by these bankers.

It is unlikely that he will want to make a new coin and get involved in this game. Most likely it will support some kind of payment system or some kind of ICO, connected directly with its project. Something like the introduction of something in Facebook.

Thats a good news after so many bad news I heard from last few weeks. The more the crypto currencies being accepted, the more they will grow.

This is scaring, but inevitable: in the moment that Facebook (or google, or amazon,...) will launch a personal cryptocurrency, it will conquer the full market.
We'll assist to a big war, as one of operating systems. Btw, megacorporations are the nations of today, so it's normal to have a personal money.
But it won't be decentralized, you can bet on this.

Doubt Facebook will add crypto anytime soon, but if they do, it'll be great as it will raise awareness and bring more people and of course money into the market. One step towards mainstream adoption!

This is a great news. Do you have any idea what kind of crypto is this? This ICO will be sold very fast and im sure of that.

Maybe he has realize how many profit that he can get with cryptocurrency join in facebook. Maybe next project he will open ico base on facebook sponsorship. But if don't it doesn't really matter since facebook already have their own community. i can't imagine how could crypto world moving to facebook. Since we know there is a lot spam on facebook how could we handle it.

maybe zuckerberg doesn't want to create a currency but more like a decentralized service or if it's only storage or something like that it would be a big step for them already.

Why not just create his own Crypto? He has a lot of money to be able to do so. He can hire a lot of cryptographers to do it.

That’s not surprising as Facebook been profiting from crypto since it was used as an advertising and marketing strategies by most ICO and project aiming to reach a much wider audience and thousand of views anywhere in the world.. I never heard about this news may be I'm uninformed, coming to the inclusion of bitcoin into FB how it helps the bitcoin users as FB is a free app. By adding it to FB that results in more popularity to the bitcoin that is one hundred percent sure let's see what happens.

Nowadays there are lots of news coming about crypto currencies which means the world is getting noticed about crypto more than before and spreading the positive news like this is really helpful for the growth of crypto prices.But Mark Zuckerberg didn't speak lot about crypto currencies on his post,he is just talking about new technology so he said about centralization vs decentralization.But I am sure they didn't allow crypto as their mode of payment because I am running a big facebook page with 700K followers,when I try to promote a post the available option is fiat currency over debitcards.

Strange how I missed this news. I was pretty sure I looked up social media sites accepting crypto a week ago but none of this turned up. I thought Zuckerberg was pretty much against crypto. Now that with the Russian scandal still yet to be resolved, how will he be able to go yet another way to accept money for advertising when already it seems difficult to track the ones who bought it at the last election campaign.

Not sure exactly how people will want to use it on FB though. FB networks are not very crypto targeted.

That is fuck fb change mind. and they should. I had bad experience with fb. I ordered an ad and ask for payment, I should have CC in fact I don't have, then I transfer via atm, no record my deposit. Only fuck cc holders who can ads on FB.

How would be ETN used on FB? (if they go ahead with these plans)... so FB is going to be a payed site?... Sorry if it`s a dumb question but I`m just trying to understand the procedure.
