Doesn't anyone else think this is trashy? Now we can have campbx spam everywhere we get TH spam, awesome.

You know what I associate TH with? Emails in my box from the MtGox leak.

I'm not saying all affiliate programs are bad, but automatically making everyone one of your 'affiliates' is reckless. It's no good to affiliate with everyone. Most people aren't competent to give you a good image, let alone the worst people.

I would like to point out that our program is fundamentally different in terms of execution: you don't have instant discounts, but rather a monthly refund cycle.  This longer lead time makes it a near-impossible task for spammers to make some quick cash in a matter of hours.

Its a great way to spread the word.  Hard to compete with Mt. Gox with the first mover advantange and with other affiliate programs.  I believe this is the first real exchange to give you their actual address.  That deserves some promotion lol.

I do think campbx is better than TH, but using the same terrible promotion method makes them appear at a glance to be the same.

If you want a bunch of affiliates, fine. But everyone? Maybe some draw the line somewhere before random spammers who uses leaked email lists?

Anyway, is this pointless to continue, they've already decided to do it.

you may think affiliate program = only spam , i view affiliate program = good relationship and referrals made easy.
you can just blog about campBX or you can blog about it and make a little and get a little discount for your readers. it doesn't have to be obnoxious spam

I don't like this at all! I already have a camp BX account, so no possibility of me getting a 10% lifetime discount?   Late adopters get rewarded and an early adopter like me gets punished?

If we wanted the Amway of exchanges, we already have Trade Hill.

BTW, I got charged reduced, but not zero commissions today, so this free promotion thing isn't exactly what they make it out to be.

I assume this user has been permanently barred from CampBX. If not, CampBX is pro-spam.

I'm actually curious as to how this works - given that CampBX is a US based company, do you not have to figure out who is in the USA (my guess is most due to the Dwolla requirements), collect form W-9s, and then if someone in the USA makes over $600 (I think?) do you not have to file further paperwork with the IRS?

How could I think that after what I said? You quoted it. I don't think affiliate programs are bad. I think hiring every person on the net to be your affiliate makes you look bad because the most visible affiliates will always be the most obnoxious.

How can you deposit?

You get an address where you can send your BTC to and they'll be in your account after only one confirmation.

You then can create an offer to sell your bitcoins specifying which payment methods you accept:

- national bank wire
- SEPA bank wire
- intenational bank wire
- PayPal
- moneybookers

Your sell offer will then be displayed - if there is a counter party accepting your offer they'll get an automated email telling them where to send the money.
As soon as you got your money you click on a button in your account to confirm that you got the payment and the BTC will be send to the counter party's account.

In June I traded well over $1000 on tradehill and have done trading similar at mtgox.  Anyone willing to pay me BTC to sign up under their referral code?

These affiliate programs (in all exchanges) are a nothing more than a huge waste of time. Waste of time for creating multiple accounts and reading those spammy messages on threads. Any rational person would create two accounts, one for making a referral link and other for trading. This way, one can get twice the 10% discount. No rational person should use a third-party referral.

You could save us time and just lower the commission.

      We have a CPA firm managing all taxes, so I am pretty sure they have the IRS bases covered.

Well I should hope not eventually, but I hope you're not under any delusions that the #1 spot is yours unless you can somehow match MtGox's non-US bank transfer rates... from what I'm reading the obscenely expensive (compared to MtGox) transfers for europeans is the chief thing keeping a lot of people off TradeHill.

People go to MtGox because of the volume - it sure as shit ain't because of the site. MtGox has volume for a few reasons, not the least of which is because it already has volume (inertia)... but you can't beat that without really really cheap transfers at least down near what they're doing. The chief thing hurting you right now is being mostly US-only, but I think that's okay. Do it right, rather than fast.

I really hope you do good though, it sounds like you're bringing a level of professionalism to the exchanges because you're daring to operate in the belly of the beast - I only ask these questions because I wanna see you guys do well.

Although you should consider that excluding Europe means missing out on huge potential volume (so "a little fast" wouldn't hurt) ;)

But the most important thing is that the phrase "camped again" won't be read too often ;)
So, in any case, it's better to climb the hills and mountains slowly and surely than quickly and insecurely
