Fry's Electronics: Players are sent here when their computer crashes and must pay a fee to get their computer repaired, or wait a maximum of 3 turns before paying the fee. If the player can roll doubles, their computer is fixed for free and they can leave that square immediately.

That's a pretty generous description of what happens if you go to Fry's.  :D

Any chance of a physical game coming out, or is that treading too far into copyright issues?

Thanks for all the great feedback so far. We have found a few crucial bugs (of course) and I'm taking the site offline to get those fixed to prevent anyone from losing points. Will have the site back online by tomorrow.

If this is based on monopoly, which, by the name I do assume, there would be copyright issues, HOWEVER, there have been many released of different Monopoly boards, and I'm fairly sure there is either a fairly flexible rule on this, or a site to easily create your own boards.

Started a game for FP, feel free to join, maybe we can later play for some real BTC for anyone interested =P.  Or, play for real BTC rightnow, for anyone interested. I've made the room.

EDIT: Where the hell did you get my profile picture from? I never gave you it.

So, I just tested a round with my brother and I have a few points to point out.

We'll start with the first one,

I find the board to be very unclear, I understand you're going for a bland and simplistic look, and I'm not sure what exactly would improve the board, but maybe a bit more colourful, or a bit more of a depth effect?

Me and my brother had a hard time finding our players, they constantly just bounced around. An animation to see it actually move would be nice, and a lot more clear, maybe they could be slightly bigger / different to, to be more noticable.

Whilst trading the inactivity timer keeps counting, which is VERY annoying. In example, I get a full street traded, I'm happy! Guess I'll go buy a server and then roll - oh, shit, only 5 seconds left, quick, roll! And bam, there's your turn while you were nowhere near done.

I found it a bit unclear what the balance was, at first I thought the "Bank" was my balance, however I quickly discovered it's on the player list. It's nice to disply everyone's balances like that, but a small bar just like the bank one above it with your own balance would be nice and more clear in my opinion.

The e-mail says that I have to verify before I can play, however my brother did not verify his e-mail and was able to play without any problems.

Here's my small feedback, hope it helps! ;).

We use gravatar for your avatar.

We simply use their api to pull up your avatar based on the email you registered with. Hopefully thats not intrusive. Let me know if you feel otherwise.

Thanks for your feedback on the game. Will work on piece animation and improve time warning alerts.

Right now the game works such that you can use your "unlimited" bankroll of fun points or bit points while playing in a game. At first I thought this would make for the most interesting games because people could continue to rebuy bit points when they got low if they wanted to stay in a game and try and win the bank funds. However, especially with fun points with no real value, the game feels a bit nebulous with no clear meaning because you cant see how many FP your opponent has.

Do you guys think it makes sense to change it so that the game works by taking the buy in and putting 50% into bank funds and the other 50% into your own balance to be used for buying properties, etc? Then the players have a limited amount of points to spend within a particular game based on the buy in amount.

thoughts?

FF 23.0 OSX with Adblock Plus... is that why I'm not seeing people's games being open for more players after they are created?

There isn't an actual games list, you just create a room and get matched to someone with the same settings.

Game is broken, it doesn't start. I'm in Players: 3 of 4 while the fourth person is in Players: 1 of 4. Same settings.

This happens all the time - the 4th player gets matched into it's own lobby. Only happens when playing with real BTC.

Also, you might want to have the buy-in go into players' balances, as this is quite misleading. We basically both had 0 balance and couldn't do anything. Quite buggy, needs improvement, but the site has potential.

Personally I think a check box would be better to have in enabled or not. Doing something like that just makes in unfair for people who dont have more btc or fp to put into the game. Id rather a fixed amount and thats it. maybe a checkbox to enable/disable it for more customized games. Also maybe more the 4player games and also 3player games. The last feature would be a quick join button if you just want to play

Also a games list would be nice aswell and a friends list so that I can play with people I want to.

Also there is a freenode channel for it, #bitcoin-monopoly
It used to be used for bitcoin monopoly where we would just all play and bet on who would win.

Yes it is really waiting forever. I have started a game and while I was waiting I started cruising trough this forum, meanwhile someone joined my game and I timed out because I was still on the forum :)

At least it was not for real BTC.
This site is definitely unique and has potential in my eyes but you need to get more players somehow. Promote your site on bitvisitor or pay for signatures on this forum. People will like to see something different than spinning wheels and betting high, low and you have made this change.

If you don't mind me asking how do YOU profit from all this?

Thanks again for all the feedback. I'm going to be taking the site offline again shortly to address all of these issues and relaunch as soon as possible. This has been a great few days test run. Here are the planned changes:

- Players all start with 1500 in their bank account
- Bank has unlimited funds
- Payments from bank are set amounts, not % based as they are now
- Properties can be mtged and computers/servers can be sold back to the bank
- animations of piece movements
- adding game list
- fix inactivity alerts
- various bug fixes and app crashes

UPDATE: Site has been taken offline.

From the rules page under Buy In:

(Bitnopoly charges a 5% service fee for every Bit Points game that is played. This is done when the game starts and is taken from the buy in.)

There is also a 3% withdraw processing fee when you cash out since this does require (for now) a bit of manual work on my part to ensure everything is secure/safe and no abuse is going on.

LOL @sealswithclubs being one the two cheapo purple properties. Also when I tried to get my confirmation email link to work it wouldn't load. I'm trying to get my account verified so I can deposit. Please fix when you get a chance, same username.

Two things:
1) We should be able to trade for mortgaged properties
2) I don't think the unmortgaging price is higher than it should be. Should be mortgage price + 10% if I remember correctly.

The time thing also needs to be changed. More time for each turn, and less time for a timeout. 10 minutes is way too long.

Thanks everyone for all the testing and bug reports. Sorry took a while to get back to you. was out of town this weekend. Here is a list of upcoming fixes:

- lowered time bank: you start out with 100 seconds and each turn you add 5 seconds to your time bank with a max of 100s. (done)
- inactivity alerts improved so they arent so obnoxious (done)
- minor wording fixes (done)
- investigating server repair card charging wrong amount
- allow mtg properties to be traded
- fixing un mtg price
- adding chat link which will open a room on coinchat
- improving "your turn" sound to be different than dice roll sound
- improving "advance to" animations so its easier to follow
- improving animations in general
- improving tokens to increase visibility
- show property modals after you land on the property, not during animation
- adding "games in progress" list to dashboard and allow spectators

hopefully all this will be complete by end of week. thanks!

- improving animations in general
- improving tokens to increase visibility
- show property modals after you land on the property, not during animation
- adding "games in progress" list to dashboard and allow spectators

hopefully all this will be complete by end of week. thanks!

Dope, will check it out tonight. One other change that's really strategically important is that if someone gets a charge for a negative balance, they need to resolve this before their turn can end, not before the next one starts. This is important because if you bankrupt a player, you're supposed to get possession of their properties rather than having them revert back to the bank.

How do others feel about this rule? It's never been a rule I liked much. It also makes the game quite complicated because the player has to liquidate everything before giving properties to the other player, so we would need to come up with logic that does this for them if they don't do it themselves in the allotted time. thoughts on this rule? in favor or not in favor?

The site should be able to quickly calculate if your assets can cover your debt, and automatically end your game if it doesn't. Before transferring to the other player, the game should automatically sell off all servers and mortgage all properties. Removing this rule massively devalues putting up servers to bankrupt players.

Also, can we have a 3 player option? It can be tough to get 4, and 2 is literally pure luck as to who lands on the better properties and gets a monopoly first.

Also, check the emailed link confirmations. I tried clicking on the link but the page would not load at all. Was trying to deposit too. Also could you make the eithdraw fee just .005 or something? 2% is a lot honestly.

He needs to make some profit and 2% isn't bad at all.

He takes a cut of the pot of each game, shouldn't need to charge a fee to withdraw as well.

Nice game, I played today but.... unfortunately when I was out of money, I was unable to sell properties.

Because of that, I went bankrupt.

Maybe fix that??

You can cilck on your properties to mtg them. We'll work on messaging to make this clearer.

I already had mortgaged all the properties. Unfortunately it was not enough though to stop me from going bankrupt. I was unable to sell in the 'trade' window, only buy..

Can you just manually confirm my email please? Same username. I tried to confirm again and link would not load still. I would like to deposit and play for $10 or $20 instead of just for nothing haha.

Change the validation url for the email verification so that it includes a "www" at the beginning.

ie: change https://bitnopoly.com/....  to https://www.bitnopoly.com/....

Thanks, got it to work. I made a thread for your site in the gambling section since you'll get the most interest there probably.

Here is the thread (I made it clear I am not the owner): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=278644.0.

If you want me to remove it, I will. Just figured getting the word out would help fill some games.

Also, I deposited .10 BTC to my deposit address and 1000 bitpoints have not been added to my account. Please add them when you get a chance.

Ah awesome! So glad this is up now :)

I just played a game with some friends. Here are my recommendations:

1) Timer MUST be user configurable at the start of the game. It needs to permit very long turns, because some people play casually (at work or whatever) and can't be in front of the game screen nonstop. Also, it needs a way to pause the game (if all players agree). Perhaps, before a player is booted for timing out, the other players should get to vote on it (this prevents cases where nobody wants the player kicked, but it happens anyway and ruins the game).

2) Allowing for up to six players would be ideal.

3) When I own a monopoly, and I click on one of the properties in it, I need to see what the rental prices are. Right now, it only shows me that I can upgrade houses. I have no idea what the revenue potential is worth.

4) There is currently no way to go to the sponsor pages (the properties don't link to the company's sites)

5) Get rid of the Tax lol... make it like, "You lose a wallet file"

6) I think the "free parking" money that collects in the middle during a normal monopoly game is important, but it's missing from Bitnopoly. I think you should consider adding that feature.

Will be following the development with interest!

-Erik

Free parking isn't in the official rules, maybe make it as an option when starting a game?

I signed up, it told me to check my email to confirm my address.  The email had a button to confirm my address.  I clicked it.  It took me to https://www.bitnopoly.com/verify/ which told me "404 page not found".

The source of the email body:

Code:
<div style=3D=22width:400px; box-shadow: 0 0 5px rgba(255,255,255,0.5); =
border-radius:5px; padding: 20px; background:#e5e5e5; margin:0 auto;=22>
    <p>Hello, dooglus</p>
<p>welcome to Bitnopoly! Before you get started, please verify your =
email address bellow:</p>

    <a style=3D=22border-radius:5px; background:#1abc9c; padding: 10px 0; =
display:block; width:100%; text-align:center;color:#fff; =
text-decoration:none;=22 href=3D=22https://www.bitnopoly.=

</div>

I would expect to see some unique identifier in there, but don't.

There is a radio button to set whether or not you are giving or receiving the points in the trade you offering. I will retest this to ensure its working, but yes, you can trade properties and also either give or receive points.

Hey,
Please make it so that if a player reaches 10,000 points they automatically win like in tournament Monopoly. I had a wager with someone and they did not realize it was a stalemate so the game went on way beyond what it should. I had to pay out of pocket cause he wouldn't give up and I needed to sleep.

ok adding 10,000 points win limit.

We have modified bankruptcy logic so that person who eliminates you gets your assets.

If you guys can, please play a few games with FP and let me know if you see any more bugs. We have finished all the updates, and we are ready to enable bit points games again.

As soon as we've tested it a little more and the community doesnt report any more bugs with the game, bit points will be enabled.

Also we are already working on 2 more games which I think you'll enjoy and we plan on relaunching the site under a new name: bitkix.com

thanks!

Have you modified it so that the countdown time is user-configurable or able to be disabled? We want to play it at the office but can't if we have to be glued to the screen for the entire game :)

Sort of a graveyard bump but the question is relevant to the thread.

Does anyone know if the site was sold to gambit due to lack of popularity or simply a migration to a single host and still owned by the same person? I personally love the idea.
