We all know that currently there are a lot of Scrypt coins, whether Scrypt-salsa, or Scrypt-jane. It almost seems no one is paying attention to the "foundation" SHA256 coin anymore. (Of course, except Bitcoin itself)

People may say that's because the raising of ASICs, any new SHA256 coin, which doesn't not have enough networking hashrate, can be easily 51%ed. Thanks to the invention of Proof of Stake, that it not true anymore.

Bountycoin brings popular cryptocoin techinques to the SHA256 world.

Features:

- Proof of work + Proof of stake
with 5% POS interest, keep your wallet open to claim this interest

- Good old SHA256d algorithm
compatiable with CPU, GPU, FPGA and ASIC

- Transacation Comment
  like CosmosCoin and FlorinCoin

- 0.0001 transaction fee
  a small fee to pay
miners will still have incomes after all coin has been mined

- 60 seconds block time
  minimize orphans

- Trade confirm: 3, Mine confirm: 30
  fast transcation

- 5 coins per block
Day generation: 7200 coins or 1440 blocks, stable reward after 5 days of launch

- Total number of coins 1500000000 (1.5 billion)
enough to mine over 570 years

- Diff re-targets every block
  no more afraid of coin-hoppers

- Slow start
  Block 1-1440 = 1 coin
  Block 1441-2880 = 2 coins
  Block 2881-4320 = 3 coins
  Block 4321-5760 = 4 coins
  Block from 5761 = 5 coins

- 0.5% premined for bounties
  See below
Also helps to defend the 51% attack

- Connection Port: 8512
forward this port in your router

- RPC Port:18512

$$$ Bounties $$$

A good coin is a coin that everyone helps, either mine/use it, or help it's development. BountyCoin has 0.5% premine, which seems "extraterrestrial" in a currently "0 premined" world. But this will be used as the following bounties (which are a lot!), to encourage and reward who helps BountyCoin's development.

Whoever wishes to claim these bounties, please reply to this post and PM me with your result and BountyCoin address. The coin will be send after result checked out.

Also check out http://bountycoin.oicp.net/bounties.html for all the available bounties.

Your name will also stay on the website forever!

!! Priority bounties !!

Besides the fact that your executables do no work properly.  You Premined 7,500,000 coins!  This wouldn't be so bad if each block was worth 500 but each block is worth 1 - 5 coins.

Are you insane?  why would anyone want to mine it, when it's already flooded with coins.

Where do you idiots get your ideas of premine from?  Get a brain behind your coins.

Then Grow a brain.  Your bounties are overly priced!  Shutdown your coin now and restart it properly.  When people with brains start explaining how dumb it is to people without brains, everyone will stop mining it.

Ah, so this is a windows only coin? With windows binary and windows source, you have cut off the LINUX users. good luck.

Your bounties are overly priced!

That's the point, otherwise no one is gonna claim it.
Great rewards for the people who helped this coin, I see no problem with that.

So someone spends an hour to create a Pool for this and they get 500,000 coins.  And your coin only allows for 7500 coins to be mined a day.  It would take the community  66 days to mine 500,000 coins.

Okay are you starting to grow a brain now?  Don't worry, it's a slow process but the brain will grow.  Unless it's braindead.

This would be called a bounty coin only.

Your bounties are overly priced!

That's the point, otherwise no one is gonna claim it.

People will help and support the coin for free and even donate if it make sense.  So your bounty and premine are outrageous.  Only people mining this are ones with Asics.  I wouldn't even be a node for the bounty.

Next...

on ubuntu

sudo apt-get install dos2unix

First use dos2unix then you need to either re-comment windows dependencies or delete them from BountyCoin-qt.pro
That should fix everything, the replica error can be ignored

You can also just take the "share" folder from another SHA265 coin, I grabbed the one from Zeta and put it in and it built just fine. Stable Node/Block Explorer bounty please:

addnode=andarazoroflove.org

Block Crawler:

https://andarazoroflove.org/explorer/bountycoin/

My .org is at Hurricane Electric in LA, very stable. Thanks in advance, will confirm when bounties received.

I can change the code in the explorer to see network hash rate if you give me the RPC call from your coin for 'getnetworkhashps' . I believe this isn't in the SHA256 code by default (it wasn't/isn't in ZetaCoin) but if you've added it I can make the explorer display the right network hash rate.

Still no bounty for this?

7500000 coins premined = 1 500 000 blocks premined + Proof Of Stake !!!!  SCAM!!!!!
The stakes will also go as bounties.

И нax тaкoй кoйн нyжeн вceм ocтaльным?

This shit makes no sense.
0.25 starting diff with sha256, are you kidding? even PPC started with 256 diff, and it was too low.

This shit makes no sense.
0.25 starting diff with sha256, are you kidding? even PPC started with 256 diff, and it was too low.

This coin has a slow start mechanism, and adjusts very quick (each block). Currently the diff is already over 230.
The reason I choose 0.25 is: Do you know how long it takes to calculate the genesis block hash if I set the diff at 256? Took me almost 3 hours even at 0.25! GOD!! :o

I'm adding this rpc call right now, after I finished my uploading and everything works out I'll send you the bounty. :)
Update: 0.1.3 version released, it should work

bounties should have been around 1% of what they are. even at 10% they would have been insane. but this is pure lulz.

Besides the fact that your executables do no work properly.  You Premined 7,500,000 coins!  This wouldn't be so bad if each block was worth 500 but each block is worth 1 - 5 coins.

At 7200 coins per day that is almost 3 years of full time mining. Sorry, this makes no sense to me. The bounties and premine are way too high.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for an alternative to BTC mining as I'm tired of all the inefficient & power hungry script coins out there and was looking for a new sha256 coin!

Also, all you haters go back to the hole you crawled out of!!! It is very hard to start a new alt coin these days with all the script clones coming out every other week and I completely understand why the author pre-minted some for bounties TO PROMOTE the coin.

I'm looking forward to seeing this coin grow as we do need new alt sha256 coins that would enhance the all mighty bitcoin and maybe even some day replace it  ;) ;D

Sorry for the delay, my VNC on the remote computer (which has my wallet installed) was fucked up. I think I'll have to go there and do it locally. Don't worry, you'll receive your bounty within next 12 hours.

BTW I think it's 25G, rather than 25M :) Sadly it's 13G now

Check it out here:  http://204.10.105.89:13775

Simply point your miner to the URL and PORT listed above.

Use your BountyCoin address as the username and any password. Use a client address only.

Payments sent automatically.

Happy mining!

Bounty address: BLjit9fqh2ZcYeFNqYLtaGPgyrSJ5yY8A5

Stats are being goofy right now on P2Pool nodes but it is still safe to mine.

!! Priority bounties !!
Stable nodes (Multi-bounty, 50,000 each, 5x in total)
Claimed by: xieluu, shakezula, techbytes
Currently BountyCoin only have 1 stable node, which makes it hard for new user to connect to the network. We need more nodes to form a more stable network.
If you have a static IP, and willing to keep your wallet program open 24/7, you can claim this bounty.
Bounties are for every IP.

Question: Why does the client use IRC to gather IP addresses of other users? There's bound to be a better, non-centralized way to gather this sort of information. This just looks a bit too much like a botnet than I'm comfortable with. If this could be explained, I'd be happier about using my resources towards this coin.

I believe IRC is the way most coin wallets find each other.

This is a nice icon, although doesn't seem very "bounty". Feels more like a "ET Coin", the graphic in center looks like crop circles. Anyway, bounty send!

I have setup a Bounty Coin STRATUM PPLNS Pool and its working fine, so you are welcome to join and spread the network hashrate.

I have set pool fees to only 1%, 40 block confirms for fast payouts, and only 0.01 BOC payout fee to pay the actual transaction fee.

boc.minar.cc (http://boc.minar.cc)

Start your miner using the following parameters:
URL:stratum+tcp://boc.minar.cc
PORT:3339
USER:username.worker
PASS:workerPass

Sample command-line:
   ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://boc.minar.cc:3339 --scrypt -u username.worker -p workerPass

Please let me know if you find anything out of normal, comments and suggestions also welcome!

great! add the pool to your website:
boc.minar.cc (http://boc.minar.cc)

Start your miner using the following parameters:
URL:stratum+tcp://boc.minar.cc
PORT:3339
USER:username.worker
PASS:workerPass

Sample command-line:
   ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://boc.minar.cc:3339 --scrypt -u username.worker -p workerPass

I registered, but can't login, says the pool will be back asap. Please do!! With the network hashrate now it's really hard to find a block.

How does that look sheinsha?

I am definitely claiming the bounty for the website now!

I checked the first post both before and after I uploaded.  I checked all the posts.  The post was made yesterday as the first public mention of anything, even for testing.  Nothing was mentioned of the bounty being in progress. I now consider this a fraud.

You should know that it's not possible for me to update all the bounty process in realtime.
Aside from the executable, this guy also fixed the broken makefile, and instructed me how to install Mac 10.7 inside VMware so I don't need to borrow my friend's MacBook. Otherwise I won't even be able to validate your result until this weekend.

Mac OS X builds http://dls.21stcenturymoneytalk.org/dls/bountycoin/

For the benefit of anyone who may be downloading the mac build as the bundle listed on the OP now, we can not be sure they will work together as these will.  We used BDB 4.7 in our build, and have no idea what the other daemon build used, so until that is known, you should not mix and match that build and ours.

Hey i found 2 blocks on your pool, no rewards....

Your pool don't work... :/
Thats why i said BETA...
The stratum server cannot submit blocks found, this happened too with cosmoscoind and another coin that i cannot remember atm.
I would appreciate some insight on submitblock/getblocktemplate of this coin.

You can ask botpool@live.com who has a CMC pool, (http://cmc.botpool.net (http://cmc.botpool.net)). BountyCoin shares many codes with cosmoscoin (and novacoin as well), especially on the "mining" part.

Well that pool is not stratum compatible.. I have already asked on cosmoscoin thread and they toldl me that it was a known issue.. And that coin devs were trying to find out why.
I have my stratum server working fine, shares are added to users as supposed to and pool gives stats fine too.
The problem i have is that this Coin has PoS and dSHA256 and i cannot submit found blocks, i think it is not related to being sha256 but to the client itself that wont accept the valid block candidates.

Maybe raise the diff a little.
It could be the diff's problem. Now it's 1, and it's just to small for my mining rig. VARDIFF support should solve the problem, or allow manually set the diff for worker, like slush's pool did.

You should read something about proof of stake
In order to initiate a 51% attack on a PoW+PoS coin, you need not only 51% of the network's hashpower, but also 51% of entire network's coin,  that's not something can be easily done.

I think the term premine is used inflationary and it should be differentiated between "premining" for the own wallet, or "premining" for the purpose of paying out bounties.
Also: Are we so communist that we think that the creator of the coin deserves nothing for the effort put into it?
Do we expect people to put effort into a coin and a good diff adjustment algo (I think BOC has one) to do it for pure joy and for free?

Kind regards
Mike

I don't know. Market decides. I see that coin is less interesting for the community then zetacoin (also sha-256) which started (almost) the same time. It is sad as we lack of good sha-256 coins. BTW Memorycoin has interesting system that can be used for bounties.

Solo mining this now...but I really think the dev should rename and fork this coin or relaunch it. Such great potential, but the massive premine with low block reward is not good. Maybe fork it with higher block reward? I want this coin to be successful but without the dev, might not be possible.

First organization accepts BountyCoin as a payment method (500,000 BOC)
Doesn't matter how big/small the organization is, or what the organization do, only needs to be "living" and "working".

Hi! My name is Ruggero and I'm one of the founders of 79's. 79's is a regularly registered business from the Netherlands.
We publish and sell high quality prints made by illustrators and designers.
This is our website: http://www.79s.co
and this is our presskit: http://www.79s.co/presskit.pdf

While until now we have sold our products mostly at specialized venues and events, we are now preparing to launch a webstore and we would like very much to include BOC among the cryptocurrencies that we will accept as a payment.

Please let me know if you are interested and of course if this fulfills the bounty ;)

Are there ways to earn this coin without mining, maybe by writing?

Hahaha

So in case nobody noticed in the 2 weeks since the last post on this thread... there are several nodes that have forked this coin... as of right this moment... if you are anywhere ABOVE block height 66000, you are on the bad forks.

EDIT: Also... WTF is that pool link pointing to... Beaocoin... on some other type of coin not Bountycoin...

Beaocoin awards 4 coins according to the pool, and is under block 9000 while the BOC chain is aboout to touch 66000???

is this coin dead?

Seeing as the user Bountycoin themselves has not chimed in, I would say yes, they are letting it die rather than respond to the multiple forks that have occurred.

RIP BOC.
