I think it's too early to talk about the king of the crypto currency at the beginning of the year. In our time, a lot of new crypto currency is created and therefore it is difficult to determine. But, if you do not take into account newly created crypto-currencies, I think that after all, ETH leader is among the crypto-currencies.

It seems to me that Ethereum will take the first place at the end of 2018, the second most interesting fact of the latter is given to Ripple. :)

Ethereum rapidly increase as we compared it last year. I think it is time for the ethereum to move up than bitcoin. I guess also that the price of ethereum will continuously move upward that will lead it to the top 1 in list of cryptocurrency.

If we talk about the price of a coin, then I think that it will be bitcoin. If we talk about capitalization, then bitcoin or an ethereum. If the percentage of growth, I think that some little-known altcoin.

I think that altcoin will take the lead in 2018 is Ethereum. ETH is going through tremendous growth and I think that in 2018 ETH will have a lot of leaps and bounds. This is evident when the ETH is constantly increasing in value despite the dramatic decline in the market, which reflects the position of ETH in the community supporting it.

It has a lot of successful ICO also and it has high demand in the market when it comes to trading. This is undoubtedly the easiest question someone asked me this year. Bitcoin of course. Even though it is indeed getting a lot of hate, it still has a huge community behind it backing it and a lot of serious people involved. I see people say ether here, ether has it's own place but it's not number one, at least not for now.

Bitcoin is still crypto king no doubt about that because in coinmarketcap bitcoin is still on no 1 spot and also, in price bitcoin is still largest and ETH cap is only half of the bitcoin's capitalization although as a bitcoin and eth holder i am happy to see my investment on ethereum has rising but it will no the same as bitcoin and i think no one will achieve bitcoin did.

It will still be bitcoin as king of cryptocurrency, eth is still years away from stealing the crown.

Though we cannot remove the fact that ETH can be a threat to overcome bitcoin. But since bitcoin is still the store of value of all crypto, it will be hard to beat bitcoin.

I'm going with BTC still. Once BTC has eliminated the long transactions times and the large fees by using the LN, it will win easy over all coins.

You need to understand what are the potential to be king of the market. Hence only you will be able to make the investment more profitable bro. Now Ethereum grows like anything in the market. Other than you can invest on the ADA, IOTA, XRP, TRX and ETC.

No altcoin/token would on top of bitcoin by the end of the year. Even bitcoincash is slowly losing it's popularity that is claimed by its supporters to dethrone btc. We also know that it will make another crazy pump this year.

I think Ardor (ARDR) will also be at least in top 10 end of 2018 after all problems are solved. Maybe Verge (XVG) also but ETH and Ripple will be second and third place after Bitcoin.

2018 new starts and still not known for sure who will be the King of coins this year but this year it looks like my prediction will become the property of the ethereum.

I think, that 1 year is little time to become actual king and throw btc from throne, but so far i would bet on eth, but, as we can see new technologies, new blockchains, new ideas come out every day. So i would say in future, neither eth or btc.

I think bitcoin will remain to be top coin this year 2018 and it might take years before an altcoin overtake it. By that time, a new kind of cryptocurrency might emerge with better features than the present coins today. Ethereum have been one of the best virtual currency in term of market capitalization and has the best performance price gains. Climbing beyond $1000 is the highest  gain of ethereum so far and some traders predicts that it will overtake bitcoin in the future. That prediction will remain to be seen as many more coins are being created and constantly flooding the market.  

No one can replace bitcoin as the king of all crypto currency even bitcoin price now is dump but bitcoin still remain number one strongest coin in the market,and second is the ethereum it's price growing faster and many traders and ICO using now this virtual currency because ethereum has a potential and great performance in the market.

The crypto king of 2018 has many names on the list and first one comes to my mind is Ethereum, Litecoin, Neocoin, IOTA, Bitshares, Monero, dash, XRB, Zcash, and Siacoin. Neocoin being a Chinese blockchain project already rising from past week and I am double sure that this coin which is one of my favourite is going to be the king of crypto coin in 2018. Even XRB is a good one to track as it has already proven its potential by giving us more than x10 time of price movement and i am sure that these two coins XRB and NEO are the top two contenders of being the king of crypto in 2018.

My bet is on EOS... just because I believe in Dan Larimer so much

Both are taking a big hit this week, but I still prefer Bitcoin, eth is making a lot of awareness because of their smart contract but still, people prefer the original one, but we'll see in the middle of this year, things could change drastically.

Ethereum is building on a large scale and I think that they are not kiding.

We are still at the start of 2018 so it is hard to predict now itself who will be the king.For me bitcoin will be the king always and ethereum can be a good alternative option for bitcoin but it can never be able to reach the price of bitcoin.The next big coin in terms of price is BCH and It may die in 2018 itself.So bitcoin is my choice for the king of crypto in 2018.

What hit are you talking about? ETH is still far away from surpassing bitcoin. Perhaps it is the one who is going to get a hit and fall down like any other cryptocurrency. You are talking about a king who is recognized by many countries and still on the way to recognition.

For me fundamentally it is Ethereum too because we know how good the tecnology of ETH are and their teams are very great, active community and a lots of upcoming project. Bitcoin will still hold the leading position in the cryptocurrency world, but it will not grow as strong as it did in 2017. The huge growth altcoin I can predict is NEO, ETH, XRP, QTUM, TRX. I still bet for Bitcoins powers over anything else. It still not be overpowered by altcoins. But there are some altcoins who chased it like ETH since our local wallet added it on the option aligned to our currency and bitcoin. I think they believe that ETH has some of its potential for the next bitcoin too. Now its easier to buy and sell ETH because of that.

Funny opinion  ;D , do you think that there will be a currency can win over  the king Bitcoin? think again  ;). Well, if Bitcoin will fall with a big value then the majority of currencies will fall too (even Ethereum) because all of them are affected by the developments of bitcoin. On the other hand, I think that this volatility of bitcoin price will not be long.  just there are few problems that will be solved soon,  for example, the high selling  and  some countries ( governments) are trying to break down Bitcoin in different ways.

For me bitcoin will always remain in the first spot and crowned as a king because I can't think of any coins that is powerful enough to steal his spot and it is too early for that since crypto has just getting started to be well known in the whole wide world and sometimes when someone introduce to people who know nothing about digital currencies all they talked about first is bitcoin since it is the most popular one.

I think it will never happen. Bitcoin is still the most popular and most widely used digital currency in the planet. ETH will never surpass BTC this year even in terms of market cap in which ETH is behind of almost 50% of BTC.

At the moment BTC price is more than 10 times higher than ETH price and Market cap of Bitcoin is more then 2 times higher than ETH, it's a big trouble for ETH, if ETH wanna become the king of crypto world it must get over the price and Market cap of Bitcoin first, it's really really difficult.

I think Bitcoin will stay the king of crypto in 2018. Because it is the most valuable crypto coin and also the first one. Other are just copy with some added features. Also because Bitcoin is the most known crypto coin. It will stay the king for some years.
Also it can be traded with all other coins and it can be exchanged in more place than other coins.

Agree. I think that bitcoin will remain the king in 2018 as well as in 2019. It's the leader in the crypto world and alts will not be able to dislodge bitcoin. There are many coins with a good technology, but they will remain behind BTC.

With the current situation ethereum is gradually increasing in value, so it will win the king of cryptos. But its only the begining of the year, so its too early to judge the coins, in the upcoming years bitcoin may reach high destination i hope so.

Bitcoin will surely stay on top. As we know people will always threat bitcoin as number one because it has become very reliable since it started. Bitcoin went down many times and had been into a lot of issues since it became very successful, but still it still remained number 1 for a long time. My guess is TRON. The beta is coming out this month ahead of schedule and the main net later. Tron will be the better ethereum by the end of the year and will be in the top 5 easily. The transactions cost only 0.0001 TRX and the scalability issue with ethereum is solved.

We'll have to wait and see what happens with the beta. I have high hopes though, despite the fud.

I disagree, I think bitcoin will still be the king. It's taking big hit at the moment, it's always like
that with bitcoins that's why it's king and the alpha in the market. It's taken so much beating
in the past until today but it always gets back up. It gets stronger every year, last year it was
only $1k worth at the first month, this year it was more than that. That's a king right there.

If by winner means the highest growth in 2018 then it is difficult that it can be a coin top ten, as they have an already very high capitalization.

There must be some words regarding the present king of crypto coins too, I think so. Bitcoin deserves to be mentioned here at least. It has remained at the top since the beginning after all. Moreover, ETH can never come at the top of crypto coins as long as bitcoin is here. It is not like Ethereum is a loser but in front of bitcoin, it definitely stands no chance. Bitcoin is far above all the digital coins. It will remain the crypto KING even this year.

I personally think bitcoin is still kind of cryptocurrencies. But I feel there will be never kings in 2018. I don't suggest any coin that passes bitcoin but I think coins like icon or ada may explode n 2018...

I think Bitcoin is still the leading coin on the Crypto market in 2018. Nothing has made Bitcoin fall sharply and other altcoins are up. As Bitcoin drops, other altcoins decrease. That is why other altcoins can not overtake BTC.

Very agreed, Ether is expanding as ICO become so popular. But, ETH have many challenger like Waves, NEO, EOS etc, which are also good. While Monero and Nano don't have any strong competitor. And many other well developed project this year.

I think it's too early to talk about the king of the crypto currency at the beginning of the year. In our time, a lot of new crypto currency is created and therefore it is difficult to determine. Really hard to speculate on this topic mate, but imo after LN hits and the BTC network get's not so much decentralized, which was the main point for creating BTC :D I, personally am looking now for other projects to invest my btc into and I really like what I see in ETH and NEO, but that's ofc my persona opinion.

A little coin is known, they are quietly developed, their Blockchain technology is superior to both BTC and ETH, trading them up to 100 times faster than ETH. That is CMT co. I think they can go up dramatically next year. So I'm buying and holding them. CMT is the king of Cryptocurrency in 2018.

The position open is for the second, third and less, cause bitcoin remains the KING for 2018, and no coin can take that position anytime soon. ETH is the only coin close to that position, cause of it's widely used by other coins and companies, but still can't take the place of bitcoin.

Among the alts and analogies can not be. Ether even in spite of a huge drop will still remain in the lead, but it is already worth considering that many coins are not so far from it and are able at any moment to throw off the throne. So we are waiting for the coup of the whole market next year.

It is really hard to some altcoins to bit bitcoins as the King because the popularity and the demands were still in bitcoins due to its legacy build strong in cryptocurrency market.

I don't know 2018 but long term I think payfair has a good chance to see big gains, it's really undervalued right now considering they already have a working product which most coins don't. They are always updating their website and the devs are really active, I threw some money into it, 10 or 20x is easily achievable.

Yes, there will not be any pennies that can beat the BTC price this year and next, but in my opinion the BTC will forever be the king of the Crypto market and will not have any pennies to go through. BTC, BTC is far away from other coin, BTC is the father of other coins, it can not be lowered and lower than other altcoins in the future.

The new king of crypto for 2018 will be the old one - Bitcoin. Bitcoin is undisputed king and this is because a lot of people have made a millions with Bitcoin. The regular peopl who know nothing about crypto have heard about Bitcoin, because they have heard about someone who turned $10000 into a $1000000.

But my king is BTC because from the beginning it is the only only king/ legend in the crypto market. No doubt ETH is also doing very well in the market but it is still dependant on BTC. Once there is fluctuation in BTC there is a fluctuation in ETH. May be in near future it can happen but before that ETH needs to more strong and independent. Which is only possible with huge investments in ETH...

So far Etherum is the winner, let see how goes with Bitcoin in  Q2 and Q3.  I think Bitcoin will recover strongly after Q2 and Ethereum too can have another push once bitcoin price stable.

I still believe that Bitcoin will continue to be the King of crypto this 2018 and no doubt about that, i mean the market and community that the Bitcoin has, ain't easy to overthrow. Yes the it's taking a big hit right now but surely just like the previous years, it always find a way back by the last quarter of the year, so I believe that Bitcoin will continue to reign for more years to come or even decades, even with all new coins, surely the Bitcoin will prevail.

I'm sure this year is still for Bitcoin. And I firmly believe that in 2018 this is the permanent King of Bitcoin and Ethereum cannot replace that position. It may take several more years for Ethereum to be like Bitcoin.

For me,there's no one can beat the one and only,and still the king of crypto the bitcoin. Ethereum will remain as a secondary,but it will never overcome the bitcoin.

I don't understand why you keep on comparing the throne of bitcoin to any other coin. Eth is far away from bitcoin just calculate the total supply of bitcoin and ETH.

With this current market price performance in which all coins are in difficult then therefore i could say still Bitcoin is the top ranked among the other Altcoins or a king. Altcoins will now face its difficult challenges of banning the crypro advertisements on June which means if the banning will be fully effect then for sure the investments for the altcoins will be affected too. It seems that this year no one will win, except those who successfully and most importantly in time merged their savings. And now you can re-enter and sell at the end of the year, and those who have decided to hold coins of their portfolio for a long time will still not reimburse all losses for the remaining time.

Lightning Network will be implemented, Bitcoin will be much faster, much cheaper - will be all the useless altcoins (altcoins used only because their transactions are faster and cheaper).

Although is too early  to update who will be the king in the world of crytpoland ,and crown as king in this decade 2018 to  have a king in  all types of crypotucurrencies ,but I think is also Ethereum,,but will see if our choose will win , because both of us will hope.

It is difficult to conclude who the winner will be. Ethereum should grow independently from the price fluctuations of bitcoin. Many altcoins including ethereum always react every time the bitcoin price falls. Bitcoin will remain to be the crypto king  it because it make the prices of all cryptocurrencies to go down or up.

if we talk about the king, of course the main coin will remain as the king because of how many users used it. im talking about bitcoin. it will stay remain the king of crypto. even if it has a great dump in this past month but still it remains as a king. Because some of coins will follow only in the prices of bitcoin so i think no coin can replace the throne of bitcoin and and the next to the king will be ethereum.

you did already said that btc is already here for a long time , i guess that is already a solid proof that btc will only be the king. eth on the other hand is too far away from btc if we are only basing on their values. in my own opinion , no one can beat bitcoin because bitcoin is really a superior type of crypto.  the only one that can compete to each other is only altcoins because thier value are seem to close to each other. one example is bch , bch did overcome etherium last year but etherium did make a comback to the number two spot. soon i think ripple can be the next coin that can de throne etherium and bch .

So far for me I think its still bitcoin. Even though bitcoin suffers now bear market but its still a strong coin. Perhaps ethereum having a good run but its still not enough to become king of all crypto. In the next 3 years maybe if bitcoin cannot recover.

Ethereum is a good a guess as any, however, I may stick to Bitcoin for now.
