Title: Who knows why every crypto is falling?
Post by: akram143 on January 16, 2018, 09:16:14 AM
When I saw the prices of crypto currencies there is almost every coin's price fell upto 20%.Do you think this is just happening due to South Korea's ban over crypto currencies or there is other reasons for that.

I hope the condition will be back normal soon but I am worried a lot. :(

I'm not, it's frequent there are dips in cryptocurrencies, corrections. It could even go lower without breaking the long term upwards tendancy. Don't forget that only two months ago, bitcoin was around 6k$.

It is usual. It's not a nice feeling, but after a rise correction follows.
Just hold, maybe buy some more.

I believe it is phase of consolidation just like in stock exchanges, crypto may regain its bull moment anytime. But keep in mind one thing crypto is in nascent phase, it is believed to be the future but no one is sure how it may turn out to be, you should be willing to take that risk

It's really frustrating for me personally because I need to sell some in order to pay some bills. Been trying to avoid it or at least wait until the price had recovered a little but it just seems to be getting worse. Normally the day to day price doesn't bother me because i'm a long time holder, but today's bloodbath came at the worst possible time :(

Watch the market make a spectacular recovery 2 minutes after I sell  :P

It might be a bull trap before another megatrain to $20K and above! :D Seriously though, this is the biggest unrealized loss I experienced in 2018 so far and I totally never saw this coming. Too bad I already spend my spare USD and BTC few days ago for altcoin shopping ... right before the crash happen huh.

Being a crypto trader about a year i have seen lots of dumps in all altcoins which i trade more than 100 No matter which coin it is . So this dump is temporary may last for months or 3 months not sure but huge pump will happen for sure . So grab as much as you can dont look back until you get good profit

Surge and drop is mainly regulated by the announcement made around a particular crypto, some announcement has positive while some has negative impact. The more famous a curreny is the higer impact it gets from positive and negative announcement.

I don't worry at all on my end because I know that crypto currencies are very volatile, it could go up and down any time. If you've been in crypto world for quite a while now you'll soon realize that there's always a blood bath which also means that it is time to top up and buy more coins.

It is just unfortunate, that is common to all the markets especially cryptocurrency. However, find what i think that is the reason why the prices are nose diving.

It looks like the Koreans came out with an announcement overnight - about increased regulation, yada, yada - and around the roller coaster we go. The market is no doubt panicking in some places as a result, but like all such announcements, if you believe in the fundamentals, sit tight and dont sell into the downward slide.

yeah I put most of my savings on recently in the dip after it hit 19k. I thought I was getting a good price. its dropped over 4k euros since I bought, which is very painful to experience. I wish I had waited, but then of course its easy to say in hindsight and if it had gone up I would be saying the opposite

I'm not feeling good right now as I'm new to all of this so it feels like I've made a big mistake

I think the main reason behind the current crypto bloodbath is the massive price correction plus the FUD or the fake news about South Korea banning the crypto currencies. There's no need to panic. After this, the crypto currencies will become stronger and expect of more pump on your coins.

There are various reasons. Trend is going bearish currently which is normal after few months of bullish market. Usually tokens price will follow the major coins, when those starts to drop other alt coins will follow suit. Wait a while more and it will be a good time to enter.

I am really new in the crypto world so I may be wrong, but I always think that, even behind digital currencies, there are some human beings.

If all of us worry, it will go worst and worst.
If we consider it is an opportunity to buy, prices will increase.

This question is really hard to answer because no one knows when the price will fall and rise it is all happening due to decrease in the demand for crypto currencies. This maybe happening due to many exchanges stoped accepting new users so it decreases the demand litte bit but the price is falling in a huge rate like it was fell upto $130B in total coinmarket cap of crypto currencies. So it is better to be patient now than selling our coins for loss it maybe a trap of big whales too.

It's very risky to sell your altcoins or bitcoins because you will never know if you will be making the right decision about doing it. You are unsure if its price will continue to drop or will recover and start increasing times fold than which is more frustrating for us thinking that we could've earn more if we just hold for a little bit longer.

Its not necessarily a bad thing. If the price went down especially when those cryptocurrencies that are promising, you should be happy because you can buy some more for less cost. Just hold what you currently have and dont panic. Ot will rise again.

This is only my view of it, but i dont worry. This is totally normal in the crypto world, and the whales is rubbing their hands right now. The price will go up again far more than the 20%. This is still only a correction, its not a crash. it will come back up. Personally i just bought some more coins today, as i see this as a great discount. But if you dont believe in the future of cryptos, then its different, because you will have bad feelings everytime the price drops. So its really up to you, but personally im not worried. Short term investing in this business can give a man heart attack if you dont hold your nerve. HODL :D

It could be that South Korea's ban is one of the big factor why cryptocurrency is in a decline right now.. but, there are many recent ICO's that were sold out.  Is it because (BTC wise) devs are cashing out their  collected BTC funds to start their project and this needs cash of course.  Anyway, I have a feeling that this is just some correction before Bitcoin (being specific) fly again and break their ATH once again.

Probably because of the upcoming chinese new year. When we were close to 2k18 bitcoin stopped growing and everyone started selling. I think that is what is happening now as well. People are panic selling but i think that it is now the best time to buy yourself some bitcoin because in the near future bitcoin will start growing again and probably reach 50k one day.

I think you are new in the trading, you tend to worry easily. Their are lot event with this kind of dump and it is more bigger dumps. I do suggest that you will look your folio once a day because i think in the following days it will be more dumps and i think it would be next week before it could recover from falling. If you are really a trader you should know that there will be a lot of dumps before getting a profit so just hold it more, it wouldnt be dumping forever, later on it will be pumping.

Cryptocurrency trading just like any other currency is always up and down but not because south Korea ban the uses of bitcoin in their country. It's being forced down by the futures traders. They want to own Bitcoin and they want to buy it cheap. Don't sell. Hodl and buy more if you can. As I said in another thread, this is exactly what they do with gold and will keep doing until they own it all.

They don't want you to be independently wealthy so they are scaring you in to selling so they can buy it.

Hodl, Hodl, Hodl.

The sudden drop  really indicates how fundamental news affects the price of bitcoin, the same scenario played out last year when china started the clamped down on the exchanges resulting in dumping the price of bitcoin dropped before recovering and surges upward, it is likely after this drop the price which has hit a support at $10800 and will rise again.

The price will be normal as soon as all crypto hunter realize that the issue is not right. Just hold the bitcoin and altcoin and we will be the winner soon.

Well, it's part of the trading business especially in a buying and selling kind of mode where everything depends upon the demand of bitcoin which is actually something to look into because the trend will be one of the basis if the bitcoin price is going to increase or decrease. We'll just have to wait and see what is going to happen in the price movement of bitcoin.

I'm not, it's frequent there are dips in cryptocurrencies, corrections. It could even go lower without breaking the long term upwards tendancy. Don't forget that only two months ago, bitcoin was around 6k$.

I really agree on this answer there are nothibg can exactly control the bitcoin how much the price in every minute goes dump or up the price value.
I think that is the effect of incoming corrections hard fork for the first month of the year don't panic just stayncalm and relax in some other time the price are uprise again not only fo Bitcoin including the altcoins.

Yes its better tobe calm impact this is the best time to buy more bitcoin the price are dump so high this is happen because some news say that korea are banning bitcoin I dont know if this is true all china government announce some big event happen to bitcoin and this news spread in crypto world. After this dump happen we can assure a big big pump up soon this is normal in crypto world hehe

When I saw the prices of crypto currencies there is almost every coin's price fell upto 20%.Do you think this is just happening due to South Korea's ban over crypto currencies or there is other reasons for that.

I hope the condition will be back normal soon but I am worried a lot. :(

The bitcoin price drop might be due to some government actions partculaly the ongoing crackdown in china followed by spreading FUD. It may also time for bitcoin to consolidate its price after a long price uptrend last year.

It is simply because of the widespread aggressiveness of China to ban Bitcoin exchanges and its platform extensions. I believe this is just a minor setback since we've seen it already in Korea. After this, the party will definitely continue and we will see the rise of Bitcoin once again. As for trading those coins, it would be best to trade less in the meantime to minimize the risk.

No one knows why all the coin in the rapid fall, I just want to reduce my loss, I'm going to sell part of my holdings of the currency, at the right time to buy back, I panic

To be honest you will only loose money if you sell at the wrong time. Holding BTC when it is down you will not loose unless you sell it on exchange for cash. So if you want to reduce your loss you are better off holding your coins and buy more. There is no guarantee that it will go back rightaway to the 20k mark but selling now if you bought higher you are just feeding the whales who sold you bitcoins when it was high and who have buy orders sitting at 10000 USD/BTC and waiting for you to sell it to them in panic with loss ...

downfall was been speculate to be down up to 8k$ so maybe we will expect more bloody days inside crypto it's better to stay away from the
exchange so we wont be trapped or fall into panic if we seen really a bad sign of big loses, waiting for another day will be better than selling

Don’t worry. Hold your crypto until March.
Do not sell it in a cheap price.
Hold and be patient then your crypto will surprise you.
Can I know on what basis hold the crypto upto march?
I think there are no basis holding cypto until march that an self analysts and base on observations last year
But I beleve on that standing principle believing the stronger currency bitcoin as decentralized.

Yeah it is better to hold our cryotocurrency than selling them for losses.I don't know this is that healthy price correction or trap from the big whales.
Hopefully the price may recover until that keep all our holding is the good option.

Recovery of the price are hard to predict when its come back at same price value in the marketcap this the challenge for the cryptos holder's how can control themself to hodl.

Not only is the altcoin copper is falling but the bitcoin itself is also deeply discounted. This shows that whale investors are trying to bring the market down deep to continue to buy the coin at extremely cheap prices. You are right,China totally banned crypto usage in their country or maybe going to ban soon this is the reason for the huge price fall in the all crypto currencies. It is nearly $150B price fall in coinmarket cap value and bitcoin is digging under $12K maybe the price will fall more in the coming days. And if you check the coinmarket website every coin is in red radar and faced price fall over 20% for each coin.
I expect the time needed to recover from this price fall will be more than the normal because I never seen anything like this before in crypto market.

Crypto Market Suffers From Uncertainty in Asia, Losses Up to 40% (https://cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-market-suffers-from-uncertainty-in-asia-losses-up-to-40)

Bitcoin and altcoins lost up to 40% of their value the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 16, as regulatory pressure from China and South Korea appears to upset optimism.

Cross-exchange data from CoinMarketCap reveals the extent of bear sentiment arising from the confused situation in Seoul and the news of additional trading sanctions from Beijing.

On Monday, Cointelegraph reported on how Korean authorities would likely stop short of an outright cryptocurrency exchange “shutdown,” but had introduced fines for users unwilling to use personal identification data on crypto exchanges in the country.

At the same time, China is looking to expand the scope of its September crypto exchange ban to “end” centralized trading for Bitcoin and altcoins in all forms, various sources now report.

As of press time, Bitcoin has lost almost 15% on the news, while the majority of major altcoin assets fared considerably worse, dipping between 20% and 30%, some of the top 30 coins even seeing 40% losses.

Bitcoin Cash, which had seen significant price advances in the first part of January, has fallen below $2000. Ripple stood at $1.36 at press time - less than half of its Jan. 4 high over $3.

Reactions to the events show what has become a standard selection in the cryptocurrency sphere and beyond. Traders lick their wounds, pundits suggest the price correction is a ‘healthy’ one, while a flurry of mainstream media articles hints at the bursting of the cryptocurrency ‘bubble’ yet again.

The amount of money waiting to come in makes a prolonged bear market close to impossible. EVERYONE that matters is looking into crypto right now. And it is really everyone.

— Paul (@paul_btc) January 16, 2018
On the subject of future positivity, this week’s Wall Street bonus allocation, tipped to spark a mass influx of cash into cryptocurrency markets, comes at a time when the potential for short-term profit is all the more visible.

as the news already says, the uncertainty that hangs in the market is due to the problems that asia is having, are the main reason why the price is falling and if you notice the price rose very much due to the Asian market... china, South korea and other countries are creating many barriers to bitcoin and even some banks have created barriers.

It is essentially a result of the across the board forcefulness of China to boycott Bitcoin trades and its stage augmentations. I trust this is only a minor mishap since we've seen it as of now in Korea. After this, the gathering will proceed and we will see the ascent of Bitcoin by and by. With respect to exchanging those coins, it is best to exchange less meanwhile to limit the hazard.

I have checked the prices in the past January of the past 3 years, and there always seems to be a very high negative spike in the price.

I have read in some chat rooms that this is because there a lot of people pulling out their money so the go on vacation... who knows...

I dont think that is just the reason of all this dump.
Could be a group of whales or investors.
There are so many possibilities here.

Before, they believe when bitcoin is down then alts will go up but now everything is falling down.
I dont think they sold it for USD already. I am still looking for a certain altcoin where they could have deposited this large amount.

With the breakneck speed of increase last December, people can be cashing out in their returns.
The dip will prompt whales to manipulate the dip to their favor and buy from the weak hands.

It has always been a cycle - correction then moon to correction then moon again. Lesson is: never be the bag holder. Buy in the dip.

It may be a result of a chain of events. Japan and South Korea have shown falling-off trading volumes, at the same time China is threatening to block trading websites. Due to that the price has dropped and people did panic selling, which has led to even more price dropping, resulting in 15% down against the dollar. Some people are selling their altcoins along with bitcoins, that's why there has been observed slip in prices too. But in general bitcoin is on more demand now, than it was a couple of months ago, so buy BTC and wait for jumping in price.

You probably mean "if".
How could China & Korea prohibit the use of cryptocurrency - is there no way to access the exchanges via VPN in these countries?
I mean this was the idea of blockchains in the first place - get out of central control.

What was banned in Korea now are the official traders - right?

I think it is common in the world of crypto, where there is a saturation point of a price. when prices soar like the bitcoin that last year touched on the number 20000 $ many traders have felt to take profit and there was a massive sell that resulted in a fall its bitcoin price. the impact of its falling bitcoin also resulted with its falling price of other crypto. besides that much of its bitcoin banned news in different parts of the world also greatly affect its falling price of crypto.

multiple theories:
1. FUD in korea (justice minister) and another FUD in china (government looking to ban offshore accounts)
2. people are cashing out their returns in december and early january
3. healthy correction like what used to happen in january 2016 and january 2017 (see past price action)
4. people are panic selling because of domino effect caused by point number 1
5. first futures contract involving bitcoin will be settled soon

in time of rainy days like this, ALWAYS REMEMBER TO ONLY INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE. to those asking "what should I do?" well if you can live another day when you lose your investment in crypto, i would say HODL. to those who overspent their money on crypto investment, withdraw some of your investment, and HODL the rest of your position. basically ONLY INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE. basic investment 101

I hope the condition will be back normal soon but I am worried a lot. :(
i don't think so. every crypto currency is normal to be price down to improve more community if price down its a good time to invest so i think that is the one of reason why they price downing.

If you would be able to know more about cryptocurrencies one thing that would stand out for you is their commonality that they all experience frequent dips and lows and then turn into a very high highs. This os due to their stock rising and falling at many interval at different times due to a myriad of factors that affect market price and calue

so does the ban on crypto trading in China.
but the decline and growth occur constantly, and this deep fall we will experience.
yes, I agree with you, that is the reason why crypto drop. but other reasons too, I think this is normal. because now is not only a weak crypto world, but also USD today is being dropping.

Buy buy buy buy buy.   If you notice it’s stopped falling, climbed a bit and back down but not below $10000.

I believe $10,000 is the new floor

It does seem to be holding above 10000 however noone knows where the real ''floor'' is, panic does not help and only makes things worse. Imagine if all the people who jumped in as investors decide to get out now and pull out their money?

I think it was caused by some rumors that Chinese and south Korea will release critical policies about the regulation, but I think it is good time to buy some.

We are going to because of the South Korea FUD the we saw in the last time! We also see a dip at BTC every year in January, so do not worry just hold your stuff and wait for the bullmarket. I think the bull will be back soon.  8)

Don't worry, bloodbath is normal in the crypto world. It is actually a good time to do some shopping ^^ Many coins are for sale right now
Are you sure about it? Do you have some reasonable proofs that buying cryptos in these circumstances lead us for success? I’ll be really glad if you have

It totally depends on whether you think Crypto currencies are the future or not. Of course there is no proof, this is all very new, even experienced market traders are still learning the ropes here.

If you believe the technology of crypto then buy the dip with whatever you can afford to lose. If you don't then stay out of the market.

The Korean ban became one of the reasons for the fall in the price of crypto. There are other factors that can cause the price to fall. The financial institutions of each country issued a warning not to conduct transactions using virtual currency. The negative issue of crypto also continues to emerge.

This is just simple manipulation. All the banksters of the world have realized that crypto is a real thing and now they want to own it all so they are doing everything in their power to control the market. Shutting things down, spreading all kinds of rumors and fear using their controlled media corporations.

They want to own all of it, they don't want you to have any of it. So all the more reason to buy as much Bitcoin as you can and just hodl it.

multiple theories:

I agree. Also, Chinese New Year might have had an impact, just like the holidays in December. Just use this opportunity to buy some more! I bought some new coins yesterday. Today, they're down a bit more, but I'm confident that they will all skyrocket again. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in a week, maybe in a month. But the market will recover for sure, the demand for cryptocurrencies is still rising every day. :)

Correct. They cause the FUD so they can buy it all up. Right now JP Morgan and Golman Sachs are licking up the weak hand offerings.

We are trading on a market where there are manipulations. It is very good to have no center, but it can be harmful to us because it can not prevent manipulations. But we will get used to it. We just need some time. Do not be afraid, be patient, do not sell coins in your wallet.

This is my theory that I haven't seen being discussed anywhere.

Kraken without a doubt was one of the major points of entry for mass retail "mom and pop" investors. The trading platform has always been notoriously buggy, yet it is one of the most legitimate and highest volume exchanges. When the site suddenly went completely offline for a week, there was a panic. Combine this with other major exchanges such as Bittrex and Binance disabling new registrations, and suddenly new money can no longer enter into the cryptosphere. And if you think Coinbase is a good counter-example, just remember they have very low deposit limits. All the major exchanges allowing serious deposits were more or less offline for new investors.

Of course, the market then went down as many people sell as they normally do. But with the lack of new money entering, we saw a major dip. This major dip combined with Kraken being offline and major exchanges not accepting new registrations, and then the FUD from Korea and false reporting on the media in America, created a perfect storm for absolute fear and paranoia. The sell off began and the big dip became a major crash, with many otherwise strong hands giving in.

There's always been FUD, but it's dangerous when new money cannot enter into the market. That's what leads to the lack of "all green" days on Coinmarketcap. The damage is already done, and the exchanges are doing too little too late. I just hope that when the market does recover, the major exchanges really do have better tech in place that's able to handle the demand.

Interesting theory, I didn't knew that some exchangers are closed for new users, I suppose they did it because they couldn't manage the sudden increase in traffic...

An interesting read on Reddit about the current dip. The writer is linking it to the BTC future contracts that expire. This could actually be the real cause.

@zombies is on a mission today. He is a wearing a crypto FUD cape and spreading doom and gloom faster than a speeding bullet.

It's obvious he got burned -- probably sold his crypto for a loss, and is now trying to convince himself that he made the right decision because the "funeral of btc and crypto" has arrived.  ::) ::)

Clearly his knowledge of cryptos is extremely limited.

I'm confused now. Who banned crpytocurrencies / exchanges, South Korea or China? Can someone paste a link here, doesn't matter which language.
Not all crypto are falling bitcoin is not like other crypto bitcoin price is very high and day by day its price is going high and in coming time we will see bitcoin price will be more high now a days I did not see a currency which price is high then bitcoin and other crypto they are not like bitcoin because bitcoin is going to deliver on time to its users and its earning also very high than any other so that’s why their price are going down.

A lot of speculation on regulations, people wondering if South Korea is actually going to ban cryptocurrency trading, news channels spreading rumors, people listening to Warren Buffet, etc. All probably have contributing factors. But the reality is, cryptocurrency is a volatile market, it will fluctuate, the nature of the game...

We are already back on the track since we can already see that most coins on cap are on green as of now which means we are now changing trend and the correction is over as of now which we would possibly see new ATH's ahead.

Not new anymore which this is the sad truth which for those who have power can make such FUD for the sake on making price drop which they can able to buy or accumulate cheap coins.

It was a planned correction. It fits both graphics and future sales. It was obvious when they accept futures in BTC.
Whales started to sell contracts without having coins. It's dangerous, just like forex systems.

As far as I know, this correction is caused by South Korea government announcement about exchange regulation, and Then some rumors from Chinese government.

It's on every crypto news website. For example, Cointelegraph (in order):

Crypto Market Suffers From Uncertainty in Asia, Losses Up to 40%: https://cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-market-suffers-from-uncertainty-in-asia-losses-up-to-40
South Korea: Gov’t Officials Accused of Crypto Insider Trading: https://cointelegraph.com/news/south-korea-govt-officials-accused-of-crypto-insider-trading
Green Light for Crypto: Market Gets Back on Its Feet: https://cointelegraph.com/news/green-light-for-crypto-market-gets-back-on-its-feet

Pretty lame speculation to be honest, but it worked though. It was nice bear trap. Weak hands have been shaken.
