Title: Ethereum Hard Fork Free
Post by: denekin on January 18, 2018, 12:13:01 AM
Hello guys. I am newbie to crypto but today I bought 7 ETH when it was 780. What should I do know? My friend adviced me to fork it, like he did with bitcoin cash. But it's too hard for me and I can't find any info. Can anyone tell whole process how to get it for free now?

Next Ethereum fork is EtherZero (https://coincodex.com/crypto/etherzero/) that's going to occur on January 19th. Make sure you have access to your wallets private keys or you have ETH on Binance (https://coincodex.com/exchange/binance/) (which will support ETZ).

Okay. But I only have money on blockchain.info. Could it work?

No its not work like that, maybe your friend mean to hold it until the next ethereum fork tomorrow, in block 4936270. After that block end you have ratio 1:1 ethereum for ethereum zero. so thats mean tomorrow youll have 7 ethereum plus 7 ethereum zero

If Blockchain wallet support that fork you can have your etherzero, but just to make sure you can always move your ETH to your own wallet that you hold the private key, such as ledger, trezor, myetherwallet, metamask or mist.

You should be very careful with that and use only trusted resources when you are trying to fork smth. If we are talking about Ethereum fork here is tutorial that I used yesterday. It completely works with blockchain.info. But be careful and remember that you have only time befor 19 January to do this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkwcdOrau08

yeah your friend probably means to hold the ether until the hard fork. unless you have the knowledge to fork a coin and have the influence to help your forked coin gain traction.....

I heard about ETH forks but I didn't know it will be this early until you mention it. I just want to clarify things, if I have eth in binance, I don't have anything to do to claim myET,right? Binance wil automatically give it to me?
Any information about coinomi?

Search if your current exchange will support the fork,if not find another exchange like binance it will support the fork, get your eth to your binance's  wallet address and just wait until the drop in january 19,thats the only thing you need to do.

I suggest that you divide it in half, the first half is to keep safe it so that anything happens you still have eth to sell then the other half so that if good happens to fork, you will get a new coins that may valuable in the future.

Not only is the parent ETH forking for Etherzero but you also have the baby ETC is going to fork too in March for Callisto. Should be exciting times for those who hodl both ETH and ETC I know I got my fireworks ready!

Eth forks don't really have value, but it looks like any bitcoin forks can get listed on binance so try a bitcoin fork.

Yes, you are correct. I was suppose to tell godzillarekt007 about it. Ethereum was the fork so it should be the "baby" and its "parent" is the Ethereum Classic. Quite different from bitcoin forks in terms of how it is named.

I don't know about this fork but after looking at the website, the fork look very interesting on the paper, etherem platform with 0 TX fee, instant payments and high scalability. And this fork also have masternode feature and great roadmap. I will look forward to see this fork on the market. I just wonder why they don't show the dev team on the website, this project will look more legit if they show the dev members

Sounds great in theory, I don't like the fact that they are doubling the total supply and keeping the newly created coins for themselves (sorry for development purposes). Sounds a little off to me. If your going to double the supply then surely the payout to ETH holders should be 2:1?

Yeah, the only person to blame would be oneself if they sold the coin to early.
Ethereum likes to go up after their forks.

The instruction to claim the free fork coin (Etherzero) will be updated in Etherzero website.

Post by: Vansire on January 19, 2018, 06:14:47 PM
I don't know much about this particular ETZ fork but normally when a coin forks the recommended thing is to own the private key to the public address. If you say you have your ETH on MEW, that really means you have a public address and you own the private key. That's all you need. MEW itself doesn't store anything, it's just a website that lets you talk with the Ethereum network. The ETH and tokens on your public address can be accessed also from other software and websites like EtherDelta.

Now it gets a little bit more complicated with fork coins. That usually means a snapshot is taken of the amount of coins at your address at a specific time. Then you can import your address and key in a wallet (website or software) for the forked coin. You should now understand that the address and key give access to your ETH and tokens if sent to someone else. Do you think it's smart to give them to a new wallet with unknown reputation? The best thing you can do is move all ETH and tokens out of the address that was snapshotted to a new address. That could be a lot of work and quite expensive when you have many tokens. So an ever better idea is to send only your ETH to a new address before the snapshot!

Using a private key to get etz is really too dangerous :(

You just need ot move your ethereums to another exchange and you will receive your EthereumZero in there.. But it is risky, specially if you are always afraid of what can happen to you on the future. For me, it is a waste of time, this forked coin will probably be worth less than $10.

I don't like forks. Moving your whole balance to get some profits is so much risk. I would never move my whole balance at once but the forks make you move it. I just don't think moving everything is a good idea no matter what you moving. Moving things at once means one mistake and it's all gone.

I don't understand why moving your funds is risky. As long as you do it carefully, you have nothing to worry.
If your eth was already in mew, then, I think you are good.
But it doesn't makes sense now cause the fork is finished.

Anyone with the latest update?

Etherzero snapshot has taken place at 10:30 GMT am on Jan 20 and you sent Eth to Binance on Jan 19 so I think you can get Etherzero.

I just went to their official website and find some info about the fork. I just learned that binance has not yet announced their support to ETZ. Yes, I transferred my eth to binance and I'm not sure if I can get some ETZ. My fault for not having some research first. I should have left it in my coinomi, if I know.

This is just a rumor from the developer team to attract investors and I do not easily believe with the less obvious info.
binance will only list the coins of the news they release, not from the coin team and have repeatedly happened quite clearly.

Maybe Mazt rhiezt is right, this is just to attract investors.
