The very thought of no more internet frightens me to death but, seriously, how would we cope in life? In business? In education?

Could we recover as a world society ever again without it?

Beginning of times was ARPANET and NFSNET. I remember those times when connect on modem to example "GamesBBS" before internet.
I dont know then bitcoin/altcoin miners are useless when internet shut down. Bitcoin is so widely in use, it value effects on example house prices, energy and everything else.

I think considering how much we use internet now it'd be like the end of the world haha but i would totally freak out

I will go for an adventure. I will definitely spent some time with nature  :)

i think that was oke for me, because i have living a year in the mountain without internet or anything just go with wild

maybe if there is no internet our insight will not be as wide as this, chances are all we can do is learn from nature. :o

if the internet shuts down, crypto shuts down. countries would be blind, banking would go back to scratch. we basically go back to the 70's or 60's. everything will crash, especially the economy.

I remember dial-up and that took forever! In fact, it was easier to look things up or phone a friend for the answer. We had a whiteboard in the apartment and we'd write our "things to Google" for when we actually got a connection! Fun times.
Well, I am glad we have internet - without it - no Bitcoin!

Very interesting topic. Is there a possibility that it will ever happen? Of course if there is no internet there may be something revolutionary coming up and end the internet era. Though I couldn't imagine life without internet. It will take a long long time to get use to it and it is sad.

I lived in a jungle (for a week) and while the nature and scenery was out of this world; saw orangutans and had monkeys jumping on my terrace every morning, I was happy to have my internet back. I must admit though, I do still think about that place and how quiet and peaceful it was.

I think It would be very difficult for me, as internet is the source of income for me.

I sincerely hope that it will never shut-down. But yeah, you never know, maybe there will be a new internet one day - something better ? I would like to see our privacy protected 100 per cent if there was a new internet. I know you can use a VPN to hide your identity and stuff, but your IP is logged by them (ok some providers say this isn't the case), but if you use the net - it's safe to say eyes are watching.

I would probably resort to heavy drugs to ignore the pain of losing my bitcoins ;D

I would then study hard..... Just to do something to make the internet launch up again. I can't live without it :(

I think the obvious answer is... Go back to living how we were before the internet. Not much day-to-day life would actually change.  Access to information would revert back to books and encyclopaedia, entertainment would refocus on what was popular pre-internet.  Social contact would once again be letter writing and telephone.  The pace of life would slow down.

Imagine life without internet. I think we might just go back to what it was before internet comes. Playing outside greeting neighborhood in the morning and enjoying the nature. There's nothing to be afraid of if internet will shut down forever.

The internet isn't just some switch that you can turn off. It's a network of hundreds of millions of devices and they are all interconnected in many different ways, so even if one router or hundreds failed, there would be plenty of other ways to get around it. It would require some malware that takes out thousands of routers/severs/hosts made by hundreds of different companies with millions of configurations which just isn't realistic.

But you used to live without the Internet before? Of course, without the Internet, we will be deprived of the opportunities that it gives today. The world will not be the same) Even imagine terrible ... I hope we will never be without the Internet.

If that were to happen, obviously the world would fall into chaos and nobody would know what to do except to try and survive.

Maybe not as bad as it is, it only needs to be adjusted back to life when the internet has not been discovered yet.

I would definitely focus on survival as the world is literally going to be on fire without the internet... People will panic, there will be chaos as a result of millions of jobs lost..

I would go on living. Would go and find a job not connected to the internet. It would be really bad but not critical.

This will be a big problem! documents that are downloadable will be not accessible anymore most of the companies now and government branches are into internet connection to have the fastest outcome and work. our bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will be in big trouble! technology development will be a big mess again. the internet is one if the best invention ever that we can research without the need of encyclopedias!

I think it's pretty safe to say that it would be an absolute nightmare if it was shut down. However, as a few other people have stated, we survived without it before. 20 years ago and I was using a company system - internet wasn't available. Pagers and faxes, the postal system, cabinets full of documents,  and the old landline were our means of doing business. So many boxes full of files!!!

Yes, imagine the chaos and rioting. It's a scary thought.

if this will happen i will need to look for a diversion..like farming. The work in the farm makes me busy the whole day.

The world will be shocked, the worst to happen in humans before we have no internet and people are living and doing business, then the internet came and the world began to move faster and the business bloom so nice. the world will be shocked as the most business depends online. as of me, i cant do anything.
I will lose all my cryptocurrency and will be back in normal life. i will miss so much those relatives that i usually talk every day over a video call.

The implications are actually very easy to see. While our culture is very very very dependent on internet firstly I would suddenly have massive shock and might stuck in the point where internet stops. however people will find a alternative way to address the issue.  ;D ;D

Go on with living. Stay on the beach or climb more mountains.  Besides internet is getting more toxic everyday tho.

If ever the internet will gone forever.. i wil change my attention to sport and burn down all the fats  in my belly because i gain this belly from sitting in front of computer just to watch movie and browse in the web. 😊😊😊

I think I would start doing things I've stopped doing since the internet came out, maybe met girls and party with friends ( I need to get new friends, all are from the net)

If the internet will shut-down forever?  My life will be no meaning. Because if I have a internet their is a solution example when I cook foods I will research in the Google , shopping, movie etc. That why internet is so important.

Today's technology era, I never thought the internet would be closed forever, but if the internet was closed, trade between nations would be stagnant, affecting the nation's economy. We live in a compact country. To think this is horrible. I hope this never happens in this world.

Only way to lose the internet is complete global power failure...so in that case we would be set back to about 1880. As a data center operator I can tell you that if there was a massive EMP or something and some of the world networks got knocked out it would be horrific but we would rebuild quite quickly. There are tons of protocols, and various mediums we could use to connect and begin communication again, especially peer to peer. The internet as we know it may change, but it would adapt quickly.

There is no regulation that can stop transmission of wireless signals across borders effectively, peer to peer decentralized networks, vpn tunnels, tor network, etc. So I dont see the internet ever closing down, just adapting around an impedement.

Now total global power loss and yes, 3/4 of the population would starve or kill one another...at that point the internet would only be a footnote.

True but perhaps we'd become more sociable beings in that you may ask a family friend or neighbour how to make something. We could go back to the VHS. Vinyl records have already made a come-back and who would have thought that would ever happen? I'd miss the internet but I do feel I spend too much time on it :)

Means of communication would be so difficult. Many businesses will fall down due to the delay of some goods and services specially the transferring of funds or whatsoever.

I know what they are! I used to use them :) They were the go-to book for all my homework projects!

if the internet will be shutdown forever, then our lifestyle will be back as what was in the old days where we are using phone calls as the means of communication and we will not be updated all the time if what was happening outside. There will be an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is that our communication with our peers face to face will be back and we can have more time with the people around us especially our family.

But businesses used to survive without internet - it wasn't that long ago. We used fax machines to send and receive, the landline to make and receive calls, and pagers to beep people. But internet has, no doubt, improved peoples lives and has helped businesses thrive. Just saying, that there was a time that companies did business without it.  :)

The world will be very chaos.........  Now we need Internet for almost anything,  once Internet is shut down the whole world will be gone.....

I would spend more time with my kids!! No internet is not bad, generations before us didn't need it.  However, intermittent internet is a different story.

Spending more time with our children and friends and family - surely that is better?! We'd be a lot more healthy too instead of sat infront of a computer or constantly scrolling down on our smartphones.

If the Internet was shut down for good, then we must go back from the way of living we had before. writing a letter and send it to post office to communicate with your loved ones. reading a book again from the library. Business transactions will be done in person. we may have to do a lot of adjustments, but we can still get used to it.

I cannot live without internet. it brings so much convenience and became part of our life. If internet was shut down forever, i would choose to stay in a hospital to escape from this reality.

The Human race existed before internet came and would still exist if it were to go, I think I will just adapt to the new reality just like everybody else would and make the most of the situation at hand, I guess thats why we are human afterall

If the internet connection shut down forever , many businesses will also be shutting down because most of the businesses in this world are using the internet to grow their profits and to advertise their products and projects. If the internet shuts down , i will do is to continue living , because without internet we can survive just like the old times that people do not need internet in their lives.

If really one day there is no internet at all in the whole world, i think there will be another substitute for it if not business or education cannot operate all all also everyone will be in chaos.

On the event that the Internet would get shut down, I'd go back to the ways of old and not waste a tear on it's demise. The internet has been very useful in keeping the globe connected - making the world a smaller place. However, it's rise has also brought the worse in our society like the way social media and the big tech firms are trying to control what happens on the net.
