I rarely use tether but would do in such a scenario as you described, only short term though. Long term tether is not backed by anything and if there is a run on it then it can easily drop below a 1:1 ratio with usd.

I've used tether as there is a case about such a manipulation by the developers about the tether's total supply. But tether is very good place to secure your amount for short term and i'm not giving any recommendation to keep it for long term in tether form. Rather than put all of them in trader and fiat looks better than it.

Its not like we have a choice since most of exhanges dont work with real money, imo tether was first created as a way for exchanges to buy pass money laundering laws and as a way to get on us crypto market but now usdt creators realised that they have the power to influence in wich direction will market move buy puttin out more usdt if needed for pump

It was a really great way to sell and get "out" without going into fiat subjecting your gains to taxes.

Now that is not so much the case anymore as us in the US are being taxed for exchanging within crypto.

For me, the Tether currency has been in place for 6-9 months already, I do not see any reason to take it even though it is in the top 10. There are much better crypts. Take a closer look at others.

Stable coins are popular now but watch what happens during the next bull run. Who would chose to hold an asset that doesn't change when you can have something like BTC increasing value.

Obviously tether is peg to USD that's why you won't see it the price fall significantly, is 1:1 as far as I know.

Other's used it to hedge when bitcoin price started to go down or have some wild swing. But I personally don't leverage my bitcoins to tether, there's so many doubts like the currency reserve to back all it has in circulation. Also, the fee's are too high, which doesn't sit with most crypto traders.

I do use it, primarily when the markets are dropping, but I would only ever use it short-term.
It is easy to make the mistake of thinking that Tether is the same as US$. It isn't, and it has obviously had some trouble in maintaining the dollar peg - please do not consider it a safe haven; it is still crypto! There are always questions about how much actual $ they have in reserve to support the price, and it is still not really resolved.

I haven't tried tether, it looks stable and paid. The path of USDT does have a movement that is not too sharp so the risk is not alarming. Market capitalization can bring it to position 7 and there are still many who are interested.

Fiat offers price security as the value barely fluctuates and does so around a very limited range.
Tether is useful for transferring funds to someone through the blockchain as it ensures the value as when sent is the same when received.
But for long term use I would rather hold some other cryptocurrencies.

I don't, i consider the fact that tether is centralized currency and the team has control over all of tether and tether blockchain. The team can freeze your money anytime.
It's a centralized token. And tether is lack of transparency about the how much-reserved funds backed each tether.

Tether is there so you can trade BTC/USDT. Its a safe pair to trade when btc rise, you can dump it to tether and then buy back when the price dip again. Its what its use for and its pegged to USD. Why would you hold tether? Of course you can hold it but you should really be buying coins with it to profit.

Sometimes when I see the price going down I use Tether to save my money, you might to see the Tether price because have a stable movement even though the prices of bitcoin and altcoins have decreased. And maybe most investors have the same way to save money in Thether when the crypto currency prices decline.

In short, it's not perfect but for now it's the best we've got.

What we really need is some facility for quick cheap transfer back and forth between actual fiat and crypto.

I think best time to get in tether was when btc price was at the highest level and now was time to reenter in btc or eth with all that tether, for now only expert traders should use it to make profit, traders who are 24/7 active and know how to swap and profit between btc and tether.

This is exactly why I'm NOT using Tether. It's far away from 1:1 with USD.
Even current ratio 1.02 to 1 and I've been watching it in past 3 month varying from 0.97 to 1.03. For somebody those 6% maybe sound like a stable coin, but not to me. It's affecting my trades badly.

Tether isn't a wallet, you should use as a way to save the value of the crypto that will be exchanged to that stable coin.

I don't use tether at all and I don't trust it. Tether is centralized and as long as they are auditing themselves I will not use them or trust in their promises. If they wanted to be transparent they would do it so you should ask yourself why aren't they? Maybe because they know that greedy idiots will keep coming and will be using their stablecoin because it's the most popular.

I know transparency is very important to gain trust investors and its attraction also but somehow many were not doing it, not just Tether. Maybe there are things to hide and protected, and we can't push them to let the public know as they have the rights also, we respect them.
There is no need to push our self into this if we feel uncomfortable and to see no future. Tether won't give satisfaction to you but the others have it, let the things evolve.

It doesn't fall a big amount because it is a kind of backed up by usd. You will get 1:1 ratio whenever you want. People who don't like to take risk and want liquid money they buy tether. You have some other option too like TrueUSD or some others.

In trading, most people choose to be profitable and full of risks, while Tether seems stable, this will not be an explosion. And I have never used Tether, it looks safe and stable and this will be used by investors who don't need much profit.

You're with what you said because Tether was implement to cryptoneirs and crypto investors/traders profit intact but I dont like the fact that Tether was backed with USD because they government failure was the reason why crypto currency was implement from the get go. However, I like other stable coins which back with metal (gold).

Sometimes I use the tether to save my money from decreased the bitcoin or altcoin price so I can use the tether to rebuy the coin when it's down. But it is not happening in all time I used tether because when the price of altcoin start to increase, I will sell the altcoin to get more bitcoin and I will hold it in bitcoin only until bitcoin price can increase too. But some people who trade in the market will prefer to use tether against bitcoin or altcoin so they can increase the amount of tether.

That's why they're called Stable Coins because they don't fluctuate that much and the price is 1:1 to US dollar.

My Question about it Do you use Tether to?

I don't use Tether because I don't like it simply as that. I would rather trade and taken advantage of the high volatility of the market to make money. If you put your funds in Tether then it will just go and sleep there. It could be a good leverage though specially for newbies, but for far more experience trader I will assume that they don't trust Tether at all, simply answer.

I do not think that Tether is backed by real dolar. They have not submitted any documents proving that they have several billion dollars in their bank accounts. They have not passed any audit. The fact that there is a pair of USDT/USD on Bitfinex proves once again that they are fraudsters.

This is a rat trap.. i have been always stayed away of this.. there are may complains and raised flags regarding the real backing of this asset. I will bet they dont have any vault anywhere with a single $ cent.. In the future, there will come a day, when many people that though they were the smartest of all, protecting their gains after shifting to Tether, will see their asets valued at 0,0$. And i really dont care for them..they were warned many times about what could happen!

Tether is a very dangerous tool. The official information is that the audit was made and ended positively. However, in my opinion it is a very alarming that one exchange can be able to just add zero and create as much virtual dollars as it wants.

the USDT is the first stable currency. but its price fell sharply on October 15 last year. it caused a great panic in the market. there may not be enough dollar support behind it. I will choose PAX, now.

I always lean my back on tether before when there will be a massive sell out in the market and the bears on the attack. At first, I thought that is it one of the safest thing to do but I am wrong. It only giving you a smaller opportunity to learn more instead of using ETH or BTC as a trading pair. Why? When BTC / ETH went down the price, most of the altcoins are on the rise and vice versa.

tether is good for short-term trade, you can convert to tether if you know the coin will go down and buy when the price goes down then sell when it goes up.
I do not recommend storing tether in the long term, it is better to change to fiat or BTC.

tether is the biggest stablecoin ever and it seems for me in case of usdt failure, the whole crypto market will disappear, because tether is something connected closely with  crypto ecosystem

Title: Re: What do you think about Tether?

The fact that the price of Tether does not fall is not unusual, because its price is tied to the price of a dollar. It is convenient for trading on a crypto exchange, but to consider it as an investment is not correct, because Tether is just a stock exchange tool that replaces the fiat dollar.

I think after we've got bitcoin from trading bitcoin against altcoin, we can sell it into tether but this only if bitcoin price is on the green area so we can get value from bitcoin. And if bitcoin price is on the red area, we need to hold for a while until the colour is changed into green. So if we can hold tether, when bitcoin price is on the red area, we can buy that bitcoin in a large number.

I do not think of tether as a cryptocurrency since it is backed by fiat but there have been many doubts that each tether is backed by one dollar as their creators have stated, this has profound ramifications if true, all of those that are using tether to take refuge of the difficult market conditions could lose everything if it is confirmed that they have been lying, for such a coin the most important factor is to keep the trust of their investors and once they lose that its price could crash to zero.

Title: Re: What do you think about Tether?

Tether is often necessary as fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat is difficult, slow and expensive.
But we do always need to remember that just because something is called a 'stable coin', that doesn't guarantee that it will remain stable. There is always an element of risk involved.

The fact is that recently a stable coin equivalent to a dollar is very often used to minimize its risks from losses. Thus, this coin will always have prospects, and most of all, when the cryptocurrency market will have an unstable appearance.
