I’d like to invest $5000 for long term hold. Should I buy these altcoins? Please correct my list if I am not on the right track.

As for me,6-7-8 positions are strange)I wouldn't invest on this coin)But it's only my opinion)

1-Ripple - Don't buy, it's a new toy of banksters.
2-Cardano - Feel neutral about it.
3-NEM - It's already priced, you are late to the party.
4-Litecoin - Looks like silver, acts like Silver.
5-Ethereum classic - Good investment
6-EOS - May be a good investment
7-Vechain - Great investment
8-0x - Great investment

People here will shill whatever coin is in their best interest .
You should do your own research on the projects you want to invest in , if you just follow what other people do you are not learning anything.

For long term Ripple is not a good choice ethereum or litecoin(its in your list) could be better. EOS and 0x is one of the best choices in your list. I like ethereum classic it is another good choice. I would suggest you to invest in 4-5 coins instead of 8.

If i were you,im going to split the $5000 into atleast 3 coins,in your list the one i am holding are ADA,LTC,ETC,i followed these project from their ICO days and the developers are pretty good and the technology behind these 3 are excellent,i exclude XRP and NEM,because XRP is a centralized coin by the bankers,NEM has a lot of pumps and dumps and its too obvious that the founders are just getting profits from it.

Only buy coins named after animals. Dogecoin and Clams are the way to go!   :P

Seriously though, people can speculate, but if a coin was known to be a winner and worth a higher price, it would be up to that price already. Everything else is just guessing, but there are some trends you can look at that can help you.

1-Ripple (not in the short term, buy it if it sells down further. btw R3 consortium is not obliged to use XRP as the currency for inter-bank transfer)
2-Cardano (good coin but it has already gone up plenty. Furthermore its tech is not quite proven)
3-NEM (...ok)
4-Litecoin (...need some good news before it can ho back up again. All depends on Charlie Lee and he has been saying LTC is too expensive)
5-Ethereum classic (great future.. Vitalik is saying good things about it now)
6-EOS (not bad)
7-Vechain (good potential)
8-0x (good potential)

What about adding NEO to your list?

Also add some privacy coins to your list. The most undervalued being Xspec.

You're looking for long term investments, but what is long term for a cryptocurrency and what is long term for you? Bitcoin and Litecoin have been there since the beginning but for example Ethereum didn't take off until 2017. Now it's taken the 2nd spot. At the same time I think 90% of the coins made before 2016 went nowhere. Time flies in crypto, a new coin may arise and take the place of coins you thought were long term investments.

Then there's the question whether crypto is a suitable investment at all, especially now many nation's leaders want to put an end to it.

I think all decision is yours and i think you have done the reserch before enter your altcoins here.
I know that above is your choice but actually in my own, i dont like to invest in ripple. I leave that coin from my portofolio because its centralized altcoin.

Your lost is good except for some i am not quite familiar with. Ripple is good for long term investment, value not too high but insee potential in the coin. Eth, on the other hand, is a good choice and is actually growing in value; best option if you are investing in altcoins. Litecoin and nem are both good coins for long term investment. The rest i am not quite familiar with but if i may suggest, i recommend avt. Avt is a bit new but it really has a good project and i see great potential on the coin.

I want to buy next coins: I am wating them from late of Dec 2017. Now I think is the best moment.

As at now, for my best knowledge when it comes to altcoins. It is more profitable at long time investment, what I mean here is that when you buy any altcoin that have future, it will profit you more when you hold it for long time. So each of this altcoin will profit you if you invest in them and hold it for long time.

If there is such an opportunity, then of course it is worth investing, because the proposed list is not bad, but I think that it would be possible to add the Waves project, although of course this is your business and you decide.

I think they're all good coins so you're choosing that will surely grow in price and you'll get high profit than other coins.
For me, investing into top Altcoins are better because they're already proven their worth and investors are still buying more coins as they could could.

my overall strategy is always going to be short term investment in altcoins because in long term they lose their value and in short term we have the peak of the pumps which if you miss it you can no longer make the big profit that altcoins are offering you.

in your list i would drop Ripple but keep the rest and the number of coin (7 without XRP) is good for an investment. and among you list i am not so sure about Cardano although it has been performing very well so far, but the rest i would keep.

Actually these coins are for future and long-term investment so there's no reason that you would ignore investing these coins.
I bought some Ripple and Tron and I'm holding Ethereum. Top Altcoins are my best picks to invest because they are worth on more investments.
I know I could get more profit in the near future.

Personally i think vechain and 0x is a great choice for investment, the only thing that i don't like is ripple because it's centralized and cardano because i haven't heard much about it. The rest is a good pick buti think there's something better. You can buy VEN and 0x while searching for another coin to invest.

Research makes everything unique. We manage our money but due to diligent research we might get on track and invest a large amount of money. Why dont you try diverisfy more than ur picks.

I think that from all this list of coins you need to exclude Ripple, EOS, Vechain the other coins I really like and I myself hold some of them. But in fact, it is better not to listen to someone else's opinion and to understand each of them and understand for yourself! Personally, I'd rather have chosen some three and invested 5 thousand dollars.

Investment such average value in altcoin is best decision but according to my opinion you have choose very large number of altcoins while your investment amount is not such big amount so i will prefer you to invest your this amount in some of these altcoins like ethereum, ripple , litecoins etc which are most favorable and have more users then other coins. So this will give you profit in less time.

Altcoins like Ripple, Cardano, EOS and 0x is fine for me.

My advice would be to read about the project that you are planning to invest and to spread as mush as possible ;)

They are all good coins with potential, but not too sure about 0x, to be honest i've never heard of it and would change that one with some Ether just to be safe.

Op, you have some good combination of investment portfolio which i believe are okay such as Vechain, Ox, Ethereum classic and Cardano but i will advise that you should add lisk, Aion, ethereum Ark though there is need for you to do more research on them before you invest your money. Worthy of note, diversification of your investment capital is key to investment success and reduce the risk of uncertainty.

Don't like Ripple that much, but everything else looks great. Maybe even consider some Ethereum?

As some of them are really good, I believe you should follow your gut in this market. There are over 1300 altcoins and it's hard to pick the ones gonna do the best, follow the market for a bit and see what you connect to the most and go for it.  ;D

If you are ready for losing $5000 because of investment into them, just do it. But you must really do analysis fundamental of the coins by your self because actually there are no people in the world who know about the future of the alternative coins. Personallity i have made investment in Cardano ADA and EOS when their price is cheap, i just shared my personal experience and it is not suggesting of investment always use your due diligen when investing. Put your money in Eth, 0x and Ripple these are the best right now. Just make sure that you will do a great search for them. After all it is your money you will know where to put because you can afford the risk.

My opinion is put it in ETH everyone knows about ETH and many new customers are coming to it every day.

I am familiar with most of these coins and they are not a bad investment, #7 and #8 I am not familiar with and will check them out, I think a couple of coins worth your research are BIS and BLOCK, might be a nice addition to your list.

You are full right about Vechain. I have strong hopes for Vechain.

your list is prety good but more research necessary before invest in a coin. in your lists coins ripple may be centralized coin and recently its price is not stable.but Ethereum classic  and litcoin are perfect choice to invest now.other have no idea till now.

Your choice is good enough, of course, except for the first position in the list. I would refrain from buying rippe. This is a very speculative "shitcoin" and is managed by banks. Emission is infinite, and it can be manipulated as you like. NEM, XLM, ETH, LTC, Substratum - my choice 8)

Iam also in Cardano and Vechain and that your list consist of good fundamental coin, but I think you miss ETH, DASH, WAVES and NEO.

II had some Cardano before the price went up to sixty cents. The coin does get a lot of volume, I think that's the one thing bad about the coin.

if my advice is better $ 5000 you are invested in altcoin whose price is still low and has not gone too far from the price of ICO, like SXDT or APPC because the opportunity for us to get bigger profits than to invest in altcoin whose price has gone too far.

It is better to make proper research before investing into any of the coins just my opinion.

The portfolio looks good to me except the list from 5-8 is not my choice. I am wondering why you have not included the ETH the most precious coin this year and is thought to be next bitcoin of 2018. I’m not sure but that should be at the top priority really. Rest of the coins are already spiked but the year of altcoins can get us big fortune so it’s better to have little risk here. And please add the ETH really. Also you have got good chances with few of the coins that I, suggesting here, that includes, SCL, JNT and IPL. They are the pretty big budget project currently.

Ripple is connected to banks. The other two i honestly dont know anything about.

It seems to me you have made a very good investigation of the crypto market. In my opinion, the situation is as follows:

1-Ripple – very good choice;
2-Cardano – great choice;
3-NEM – this alt has cool future;
4-Litecoin – very good;
5-Ethereum classic – not bad at all;
6-EOS – it has perspectives;
7-Vechain – great choice;
8-0x – one of the best choices.

Personally speaking, i would invest in lite coin as its the "Safe option" and ripple. Ripple has integrated real world applications with crypto currencies as seen by the card. Also ripple is being tested by banks, with ripple also requiring 20 ripple to activate a private wallet, we would see more strong hands as small traders won't be able to afford (20 ripple x rate)

Most of your coins are reasonably safe. you may loose some money or gain reasonable profit.
depending what you want. Most of these coins will not give you huge gains but at the same time they won't screw you big time either ;D

I wouldn't do cardano ( despite the huge hype ). ripple is one of the safest coins may do x2 or a bit more, could decrease 30% or so
nem , eth c, litecoin also similar i suspect.

Maybe choose something which can give you more profit in between the safe coins. there are a lot of choices....verge, reDDcoin, deepbrain etc  i have invested in recently. they probably won't loose you much at this moment if you buy in this price range. In other threads you will have a big list of other potentially growing coins.

We only come up with names when they have increased in value significantly, before that it is just gambling , i wouldn't do that right now. Making you 5000 into 15-20 is more than goo enough i think.

I consider 7 and 8 positions as a strange choice, as for rest of list- it is a good combination, but pay your attention to Waves and add 1-2 coins, which will be able to make 100x

Before investing or putting money to any altcoins make sure that you study, study, research and research again so that you would not feel sorry if the altcoin you buy goes down.

All these altcoins are very good value and you should consider keeping them for a long time. The decision is yours but for me you have a good investment list and surely by the end of 2018 you will earn huge profits from long term investments.

1-Ripple - NO! centralized speculative bubble
2-Cardano - showed tremendous growth over the past year, do not expect high profits, but, on the other hand, this is not a risky investment
3-NEM - the same situation as Cardano
4-Litecoin - a convenient alternative to bitcoin. Take!
5-Ethereum classic - a good alternative to eth  :)
6-EOS - good choice. Coin with great potential

1-4 lower risk, low chances of earns
5-8 higher risk, higher chance ofs earns

I like these two positions more than others as an investment. However, it is impossible to say during what time. Therefore, I would follow the course if I were you. Perhaps on a large pump you will need to sell them to fix profits, and then after some time buy again.

i would dump that trojan horse of coin ripple as is nothing else than banks trying to go into cryptocurenvy. Also dump ethereum clasic, thats just a waste of money. other coins look promising and good idea. i would sugest you to maybe look into viberate, it appers to be prosing new coin. they sold out the ico in less than 5 min. That aside, I suggest tokens that offer profit sharing dividends from already active platforms, like KuCoinShares or COSS.

Some coins from your list deserve attention, but not all, in my opinion. However, I would add a few more perspective ICOs to your list. For example, WePower. You can read about the project by clicking on the link in my signature.

Ethereum classic,  Ox,  EOS and Litecoin are good choices. Others you should study well and think twice before buying.

That's a silly investment to do. There is no combining factors that will cause the price to sum to 8-0x the current value.

If you are trying to hodl for the rest of your life, some of those are good choices but my personal recomendation as a high volume trader is to learn more about new altcoins that get listed on coinmarketcap everyday. Great chances of making tons of money there

very good choice... all of the named coins and tokens are still interesting, most of them are big but thats not so bad its good to have "safer" token in the portfolio but there are also many very interesting small token good night or day

from your list i would  choose for me next coins:  EOS and etherium classic. Also pay your atantion on coins like: OPUS/ WINGS / NAS / OAX
