Hi guys,

I'm a lurker, but decided to post today. Reason for not posting before is that there seems to be a lot of 'fear' on this forum.

Anyway, I have $20K USD waiting to be invested in ALT Coins. What would be YOUR coin to invest in?

I am already deep in TRX and I'm up over the past month. So I don't really want to buy at the price its at now.

I was thinking NEO, after reading the white paper, taking into account the supply, market cap and ETH profile.

Your advice / views is much appreciated.

Please bear in mind this is no guarantee I will decide to invest on the back of the advice given. But it might sow a seed for further due diligence on opportunities I may have missed.

i am more on advantageous mode,

30% on top 20 coins including btc
40% altcoins
30% ICO, this portion grown too fast.. sometime almost take half of my portfolio. Thanks to sudden waves of chinese icos and exchanges.

i am slowly switching to more conservative portfolio, hopefully keeping more btc..

NEO is a good choice to invest as you can get free gas just holding your NEO coins on a wallet. Neon wallet for example.

30 % ETH, 30 % strong alts like NEO, XLM, ICX, STRAT, 20 % low marketcap coins with goo potential - ECC, INT, BNTY and others - research well, 20 % diverse in 3-4 good ICOs - Bee token, Gems, DADI, Nucleus Vision, SCORUM - there are around 10 good ICOs - pick some of them  :)

Every single post of yours is about watertech. Even if I was going to invest in it initially, I'm definitely not going to now.

You should take a look at 3rd generation blockchains such as Cardano (https://coincodex.com/crypto/cardano/) and Aion (https://coincodex.com/crypto/aion/). I believe they will play an important role in 2018.

I would research more about TRX, I hear there's something going on with the code (some anomaly in the developer section), well I could be wrong but imo, it's just a coin with pure speculation--totally different with coins that are also speculation but has the technology or actual product to back it up like Electroneum. I would recommend looking into this coin, I reckon this coin is just one tweet away from pumping.

Are you kind of risk taker or just want to play safe and be buy-hold-moon guys and make decent profit every month ? if you a risk taker guys just join several ICO and hope the price will moon while it hit exchanges. if you have plan to be the buy and hold i thing ethereum, verge, xlm, and neo.

I tend to hold with an exit price in mind.

Invest in Giro Coin, also embercoin, look at stocks.exchange, if you are smart enough to do maths you can easily achieve an increasi in your money by trading altcoins.

I think, that you should invest in many different coins/tokens, it will decrease possibility of money loss. So I would pick some 10-20 different coins/tokens.

This is the nice bank to invest. I think half has to be invested in top3 or just BTC, ETH and the other half you can choose how to invest. It has to be 30 percent top20 altcoins and 20% of low cap altcoins or coins that had good idea and was dump last time.

I will suggest you to choose Oyster Pearl and IOTA, they have a very good project, so I guess it will make them have a very good profit if you invest in both.

20k is is enough money for decent mining setup think about that.

I invested in trx, lend, espers. And if you are looking for a long term investment, I definetly suggest you to invest in this three coins. All of them have growth potential in the future. You can make crazy amounts of money with $20K.

There are many good coins to invest, but i decide to invest by stabilize price, development and community support.. I would be divide into
20% ETH
20% TRX
20% XRP
20% VEN
10% XML
10% NEO

There are a lot of coins where you can invest.
Like Elix , Waves , ETH , Ripple and a lot more.
Don't invest all your money on one coin.

20k is a lot of money to spend on Mining equipment. The ROI that is made is not going to be enough to cover the cost of the mining rig within 5 months.

TRX for me isn't a good buy, one of my biggest regrets in altcoins to date, can't wait to at least recoup my seed capital so i can offload it

What price did you buy in at? I've made 400% returns on TRX and with the huge partnerships no doubt I'll make more.

Choose top 5 or 10 crypto's with 75% of your funds and rest of money put in various projects which could become big. I won't suggest you which one to buy as others here as I don't like to give such advice and I think you should do your own decision, as you said you lurk around so you probably have something in your mind.

What about BCPT, VEN, WAVES. I like what their doing and I think anyone of them could be huge growers.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I would suggest you wait for a little while more. The market still hasn't settled after the sudden price decrease and no one knows where the prices will go in the near future. So I would lay low and watch the prices before investing for now.

Best thing is to invest in an ICO,

Find a lit one, with alot of hype. However, you need to do your own research because you first need to believe in it before you invest.

Go for equal distribution for each for these categories:

1. BTC
2. ETH
3. Altcurrencies (e.g., VIBE, DASH, TRX, DRGN ...)
4. ICOs

And some altcoins like btcZ, zcl and other from Equihash family

25% on the high cap coins (BTC, ETH etc). 50% on medium cap coins (ARK, LISK, EOS, Waves etc) and 25% on low cap coins (NAV coin, Deep Onion, Pearl). You mimiize loss that way and you would expect some of your low cap to explode.

Something that most say but few follow is if that 20K is a lot of savings for you do not invest it. You will end up sweating over Blockfolio and Delta. If on the other hand your life would not be shattered if you lost it I wish you good luck :D

A fifty percent in bitcoin is not profitable anymore, bitcoin is only going down.. and if it makes a x2, it will take more than months from now. I still prefer to invest in ICOs because they can give you more ROI, and they are more supported by the people right now.

Looks like you are doing your own research before investing your money on alt coins. This is indeed a good thing to do. I would suggest you to split your investment into some portions. Keep a portion of your invest for long term profit such as Litecoin and Ethereum and the rest for quick short term profit.

I think that AION, Quantstamp, and Dent are great projects that can be safer, long term holds.

Appcoins and INS are two newer coins that will likely explode. The same for Trinity and possibly INT. Check out BCPT as well, since I think it's way undervalued.

I would reserve a few thousand for good new ICOs coming up. Money well placed there can easily outperform most of the market.

I agree with you, but sometimes every country is different about the cost of electricity. even so, if you already have $20k and want to do mining, I guess that would also be a very good option

I would consider Stellar, Neo, VeChain, Ripple.

There is limited growth for Ripple. Stellar and Neo are good.

You should consider only eth, 2018 is eth's year, it will surpass bitcon in marketcap.

with such a sum, you could play it safe with very low risk. Take first 20 coins - tokens on coinmarketcap and buy a lot of 1000 usd per coin. Your gains on longrun will not be crazy high, but also in this way you couldn lose much. In other case #gambler mode buy 10.000 usd of hedge token, and 10.000usd of hive token and wait till may.

First of all anyway, it's better to think with your head and listen less to the advice of other people. It is your money and decision to receive you. But if you ask for advice, then I would advise you to pay attention to the Appcoin it's very promising token and there will be good growth. You have a good amount to work with. Go for an altcoin that is under 50cents. Wait for it to double. Rinse and repeat.

I’ve heard that LSK will be goin through a "re-branding" soon if that’s what you call it. Most of the coins/alts that went through this process in the past have gained much more value. Also, LSK has started gaining value towards the last quarter of 2017. Yes it went down when the holidays arrived but so did the majority of the market. Two other coins that have significantly increased in value in the past 4 or 5 months are RDD and DOGE. All three are gradually gaining value which is a good thing because you can easily monitor their movement. Choose wisely and God bless.

Firstly whatever i mention or suggest i will encourage you to do a due diligence for yourself before investing. To me one thing is certain,in the long term,some start ups will be weeded out by their competitors and so on account of this,I generally follow some basic principles when about to invest: 1,What is the project about and what makes them game changing and also makes them stand tall amongst their competitors?Who are the team behind the project and what are their experiences?What is the total coin supply?Following this Im sure you will be fine. I will however recommend you look into genieico who's signature im wearing.You can also look at internxt,powerledger,genesis vision and proofsuite.

NEO and ETH are pretty much safe bets but ICX an DRGN are really good as well

Do more research on the altcoin you want to have. Do not be too confident in the words of someone who is exaggerating and proud of a coin. Because maybe he did a promotion. I might not suggest a token or coin to buy, but I suggest making a division between bitcoin, altcoin and some money for investing in ico, I think ico is pretty good for short-term investments and produces some benefits. With that amount of money to invest you probably want to diversify your portfolio and try to make it more resistant to bitcoin crisis.  to do that you definitely need to have some ether, NEO, waves,  and other alternative change. Then you can go speculative with deep onion for example, enigma, and try to get a mistake and some funds so just Astro.

I would go with a diversified portfolio like the following:

20% Bitcoin
20% Ethereum
20% Litecoin
10% Iota
10% Cardano
10% Neo
10% Eos

These will give you a good mix of mostly top 10 market cap coins.  This is just an opinion and I hold many of these. I think there are many variations of how you could put together a portfolio.

be careful before investing. Just research on which coins you are going to invest.
But never invest all your amount in one bucket. Invest in different coins to avoid the risk.

BTC, NEO, ETH, XRP are the good coins

I advise you to hold 20% of portfolio in bitcoin. Then 60% of portfolio - ETH, NEO, Waves, ZEC, Strat,Ripple. Finally 20% of portfolio - ICO and high risk but perspective coins

I think it's better to look at REALLY low marketcap coins.
Big traders don't bother with them and new traders can get best returns for small investments.
It's easy to make x10 on low marketcap coins.
To move top coins x10 something really big should happen.
