Title: ✅ [ANN][SEN] Consensus AI - Decentralized AI Platform for Collective Governance
Post by: TrollPanda on January 24, 2018, 12:40:44 PM

(4 min read)
What is Consensus AI

Consensus AI (https://consensus.ai/) is the open-sourced, decentralized platform, powered by native cryptocurrency, and built with the vision to improve the governance of private and public organizations — companies, regions, cities, or countries — using artificial intelligence and decentralized services.

Consensus platform will help govern communities, societies and countries in a more cost efficient, transparent and progressive manner. As part of the roadmap to reach this goal we will build digital communities on our network (for a city it will be the community of citizens, for a private company — the community of clients or loyal customers) and give them an opportunity to influence the decisions made by the city, region or their favourite brand.

During the initial project stage we will build and launch the Sentient network, a distributed ledger system capable of performing decentralized machine learning, powered by its own currency, smart contracts and the implementation of trusted nodes.

The two main features of Sentient are:
  • Verification of nodes and smart contract transactions with eIDs, which allows for the creation of governance applications and faster adoption by public sector as a legitimate platform for data processing and decision making.
  • Decentralized machine learning, allowing to keep private or sensitive data with their owners. Using the federated learning approach we will bring the models to where the data stores are and train them locally on the nodes, without the need to upload user data to a centralized server.

Further product direction is divided into 4 phases:

Launch a network of decentralized communities on the network.

Members will be verified through eIDs and will be able to join the communities of relevant cities and countries. For example, a resident of Toronto will be able to join the communities of the district where he or she lives, the community of the City of Toronto and the community of Canada. But they will not be able to join the community of Vancouver at the same time.

Community members will be able to:
  • Put forward the proposals to region and city governments
  • Vote for existing proposals
  • Give feedback to initiatives, submitted by the government of a region/city.

All the voting and polling results will be recorded on the blockchain and verified by eIDs, so they can’t be changed or manipulated.

The initial release of the platform will be developed with the support of Estonian e-Residency and launched in Estonia, and later in other countries as their eIDs become available to join the network.

For example, the European eIDAS directive (https://ec.europa.eu/digital-single-market/en/policies/trust-services-and-eidentification) will require mandatory acceptance of each others’ eIDs by all member states by September 2018, signalling electronic ID maturity, therefore making it possible for us to integrate all the European eIDs into the Consensus platform. We expect most other countries to introduce electronic IDs in the next 10–12 years.

Phase Two is to launch the system for the government officials to involve communities in the work on different proposals, tasks and projects — from building a new hospital to organization of a city holiday.

There are similarities to OpenGov (https://opengov.com/) features in some aspects, but additionally the community and external experts opinion data will be included in the decision making process and execution — whether to accept or reject the project, include it in the budget etc. Communities will also be able to influence, where applicable, the choice of a contractor for projects, track the execution and give feedback on results.

https://consensus.ai/other/bitcointalk-post-imgs/proposals_small.png (https://consensus.ai/other/bitcointalk-post-imgs/proposals_large.png)

The entire process from an idea to the final project implementation stage will be recorded on the blockchain, which will provide the transparency of decision making and funds distribution (allowing for the allocation of tax budget to be traced and visible to taxpayers).

At this stage we will start collecting relevant data from various sources, bringing it into a structured format using predefined templates and semantic categorization, and matching it with objects, events and persons utilizing various meaning extraction approaches. For example, the data can be the salary distribution in a certain city, analysis of the population dynamics, traffic load in various districts of the city, number of requests for medical assistance per year, water and electricity consumption etc.

Consensus Foundation will collect this data from open sources, buy from third-party suppliers and offer the network users the option to provide data in exchange for SEN. Next, we will fuse it with data received from our initial communities — what decisions they made for each type of questions, what consequences it led to, how people from every area, city or region prefer to vote on various types of issues.

This will help the engine draw non-obvious conclusions, find hidden patterns and insights. While working on inquiries, officials and citizens will be able to address a large data corpus, accumulated from their city and other cities’ experience, see graphs, stats, forecasts etc.—which will help make and implement accurate, evidence-based, data-driven decisions.

To be able to propose optimal solutions Consensus AI engine will be trained using the available data. Instead of researching the optimal course of action manually by studying vast amounts of data we envision researchers to be able to make requests to the Consensus AI in a way consumers use Apple Siri or Amazon Alexa (it’s a simplified analogy, but helps illustrate the point).

For each task or proposal the Consensus AI engine will take into account the public opinion and other relevant data, simulate all potential positive and negative outcomes, search for optimal decisions based on available data and other cities/regions’ experience.

The artificial intelligence engine we envision will be decentralized and powered by the Sentient network. In addition to the data contribution (optional) each network node will be able to provide a portion of its hardware resources for the AI engine computations, and will be rewarded in SEN for it—each node will be able to determine what percentage of its resources to make available for AI engine computations. As a result the Consensus AI will be powered by the fog supercomputer where nodes will receive rewards in SEN that correspond to the price of compute power.

What the future holds

We estimate that 2–5% of the citizens are being active in the public decision making and will regularly vote and make their own proposals. Therefore, in the long term, we plan to train the AI engine to predict the public opinion of each community, analyzing information about them in the background.

We envision that in the future Consensus AI will represent the interests of residents and give the officials an immediate feedback on any issue, without distracting people from their usual affairs. People will live their normal lives and provide the AI engine with their data for a reward in SEN.

Using our approach, the engine will bring the models to where the data stores are and train them on the encrypted user data, so that citizens will retain ownership, control and privacy of their data. In the same way, the engine will work with sensitive model data that the officials could not disclose for reasons of security or privacy (or commercial interest in the case of a private company).

...

As the world moves towards greater automation of various aspects of modern life we see the possibility of enhancing the decision-making process with artificial intelligence to serve the common benefit. This is our motivation for starting the Consensus AI project — to improve our collective coexistence by helping all of us make the choices that will lead to positive outcomes for the greater good of all. We hope you join us.

The role of the token

SEN is a cryptocurrency. It will be mined and used to reward the nodes confirming the transactions and forming new blocks on the blockchain. SEN will be used for voting on the network governance and the project as a whole.

A limited number of Consensus AI predictions will be free. But if a Requestor wants to study a particular issue, build a fundamentally new model, or do any other action that will require a large amount of compute resources, then the Requestor will pay for it in SEN.

SEN will be awarded to people (Nodes) who provide their own data to train Consensus AI engine (rewards will be given if the data improved the model). The data stay be private and encrypted.

SEN will be awarded to Nodes that provide compute power to the machine learning engine. Smart contract transactions within the network will only be made with SEN.

This is a very interesting project, but I would like some information no actual deadlines? Is there a wallet? Pools? You say it's mineable but what's the algorithm and volume size?

I love the idea. But I don't even see a date for release or when/how we can mine this.

Vermont has a bill trying to emulate this idea and I'm aware of the success that the E-Residency program has in ROI for Estonia. However, how do you respond to the pushback by both US and EU partners in regard to your project?

Hi, interesting project. Just want to inform you that the overview document is missing the pages related to 4. Crowdsale and 5. Financing. The index doesn't tie up to the content of the document. Also, in general I think the documentation is more "sexy" when the roadmap has some years and quarters.
Good luck with the project, I'm looking forward to read more details about ICO and roadmap.

Vermont has a bill trying to emulate this idea and I'm aware of the success that the E-Residency program has in ROI for Estonia. However, how do you respond to the pushback by both US and EU partners in regard to your project?

To understand the modern governance processes and to witness some of the very advanced development in the e-government tech I went to Estonia in 2017 and joined the e-Residency program, which is on the cutting edge of the digital ID movement and government innovation. This experience expanded my vision of what's possible within a government given the right motivation and commitment to change for the better. Estonia is a great example of a society that came out of the collapse of the Soviet Union with barely anything. In early 90's Estonians made a bet on transparency, legitimacy and technology (particularly the internet) and it paid off greatly. With the population of just over a million people, it does incredible things, and other countries are staring to pay attention, and either use some of the Estonian technology directly (for example X-Road, the data exchange layer of Estonia is available on github) or are heavily inspired by it. For instance, last year at the annual e-Gov conference in Tallinn over half of the attendees were high level officials from African countries, eager to modernize their societies and learn from the examples of digital government. We foresee a growing interest in the e-government solutions in the next decade, especially given the adoption of electronic identity documents (inevitable in our view), and with that will come the desire to improve the services offered to citizens.
Of course, we don't expect all governments to move as quickly as Estonia in the adoption of digital technology. Our aim is to start working with the quicker and smaller countries first, where there is already a desire to modernize operations.

Also, we are starting from the bottom up, from the communities and the network to collect and process the data. Once the network gains critical mass, the insights Consensus will be able to give to the decision makers will be valuable and will save the government time and money, which will help facilitate adoption. Over time, the countries using Consensus will have a clear advantage over those that don't, which will help push the adoption by the "laggards".

Also, if you're thinking about cities rather than countries, then the adoption is easier, since the local governments can implement the tech faster than federal gov.

If you can bring this concept effectively, it will help much. But, the risk in this project is high. Because, Administration of Governence is complicated and vulnerable to leaked. So, how your project protect the trust from your stakes?

Consensus AI World Citizen Airdrop Update

https://cdn-images-1.medium.com/max/1000/1*l-J7N7-k4WrCs-pI4Ei-cQ.png

Thank you for your participation in the airdrop and your patience!

We allocated 20 million SEN to over 26,000 people in 186 countries.

Genesis team has been working hard during the last two weeks and finally the Airdrop Portal is updated!

Now everyone who participated in the airdrop are able to:
Log in to https://genesis.msp.cx/sen using email or Twitter account
Check SEN balance
Link Ethereum wallet address.
The tokens you earned will be automatically transferred to your wallet during the distribution phase in a couple of weeks, the distribution date will be announced later.

We see that there is a number of people who had registered at the Airdrop portal during the Airdrop but didn’t perform any actions to earn tokens. For these participants there is still an option of getting 500 SEN now, by linking their Twitter account in their Genesis account (400 SEN) and following Consensus AI twitter (100 SEN) using the “Follow Twitter” button at the portal.

March #2 Update https://medium.com/consensus-ai/march-2018-consensus-ai-project-update-2-70534cc30c18 (https://medium.com/consensus-ai/march-2018-consensus-ai-project-update-2-70534cc30c18)

March has been an eventful month for the Consensus AI team, and in this second update we are happy to share some of our results and announce further project updates with regards to the SEN token sale and airdrop tokens distribution:

Strategic Partners Token Sale
We have completed the strategic partners token sale for the Consensus AI project. Early on we received an overwhelming interest in the project and decided to work with a select group of partners and investors, who would accelerate our development and growth and be additive to our vision and mission. We were extremely fortunate to partner with some of the leaders in the decentralized movement and artificial intelligence community, and we wanted to give them the preference to purchase SEN tokens. Due to the token demand, as well as the changing global regulations regarding the token sales, we decided to only offer the tokens for purchase to the strategic accredited investors, who passed our KYC process.

Consequently, we will not have a public sale of tokens at the moment. We may offer some tokens for sale to additional strategic partners, most likely traditional venture funds, in the future, and these will be native Sentient network tokens, not ERC-20 tokens.

Airdrop Token Distribution
Due to the recent regulatory ambiguity regarding the classification of airdrop tokens, we have decided not to distribute the airdrop tokens before the main network launch, but rather provide all the airdrop participants with the native Sen coin on the network at the time of launch.

If you have participated in the Consensus Airdrop, please note:

As long as you control the Ethereum address provided to us, you have a guarantee that you will be able to control a corresponding address on the Sentient network, which will contain the correct amount of Sen, as encoded in the genesis block.
We will make the Sentient network genesis block available online before the network launch for full transparency.
We’ve already started working on a tool that will allow you to check if your address is included in the genesis block, and securely generate and download your Sentient digital wallet.
This decision was taken to ensure the project long-term success by staying within the regulatory compliance framework. Additionally, this will give everyone who participated in the airdrop more time to claim their Sen — to date, about 46% of all participants filled out their Ethereum wallets in their Mothership accounts. Originally we planned to close Ethereum wallet submission on March 25, but we are now extending this deadline until the network launch.

We are also migrating the accounts from the Mothership infrastructure to Consensus AI website and will have end-to-end control of the process to accelerate delivery, integrate and improve the user experience. Mothership assisted us during the initial stages of the project and we’re now moving to the next stage, where we develop everything internally.

Accelerating the Network Delivery
With this additional funding now available, we’re able to accelerate some of the project timelines and are now planning to deliver the network in Q2, ahead of the originally proposed schedule. Our own internal deadline is early June 2018.

The Official Guide to Ethereal Summit NY

Check out the speakers, installations, and big ideas that will be kicking off Blockchain Week this weekend at the Knockdown Center in Brooklyn.

As the blockchain world descends on New York City for Blockchain Week, there’s so much anticipation and excitement that it’s tough to keep a grasp on all the events, parties, announcements, and discussions that will be taking over Manhattan and Brooklyn over the course of the next ten days.

Even amidst the overwhelming array of events taking place during Blockchain Week like Consensus 2018, Token Summit, and Women on the Block, Ethereal stands out for its focus on the sociocultural, philosophical, global, and inclusive elements of the decentralized evolution. This is an ethos that reflects through the programming, from the speakers to the installations to the Zen Zone.

Check out all the speakers, installations, and big ideas that will be kicking off Blockchain Week this weekend at the Knockdown Center in Brooklyn…

Taking a lead in regards to inclusivity and building the future we want to live in, the Ethereal speaker schedule is 50% female and showcases voices from all over the world, from Bermuda (Premier E. David Burt) to the European Union (Eva Kaili) to the steps of the United States Congress (Brian Forde).

Friday morning will feature Mohammad Shakih and Rahilla Zafar of ConsenSys appearing alongside a Saudi contingent including Saud Alsheraihi of Saudi Telecom and Yasmin Altwaijri of King Faisal Hospital and Research Center. With Saudi Arabia looking to enter a period of rapid economic and social change, the discussion titled “From Oil Cranes to Blockchains” will provide insight into how blockchain technology is helping transform the Saudi economy from oil dependency to a more inclusive, diversified, and decentralized economic model.

Approaching blockchain’s impact on global development from the other end of the spectrum, Sandra Ro of the Global Blockchain Business Council will address how blockchain technology can offer a boon to smaller, developing nations as much as established global leaders. With a message of “Small Doesn’t Mean Powerless,” Ro will lay out examples and roadmaps of how decentralized technology is helping emerging nations leapfrog to the front of the pack.

In taking on the essential role of ensuring that the growth of blockchain does not exclude the vast majority of the world — as most technological advents have done in the capitalist era — the World Economic Forum’s Sheila Warren will ask questions like: how do we guard against the creation of top-down, neo-colonialist technological “solutions” to the problems that plague the world’s most vulnerable populations? and how do we share the wealth of this new technology? in a must-see talk titled “Who’s Being Left Behind?”

On a less seirous note, after Daily Show Correspondent Ronny Cheng’s side-splitting and provocative segment on blockchain and cryptocurrency earlier in the year, the breakthrough tech reporter is going one deeper into the blockchain world in a discussion with ConsenSys Founder Joe Lubin and Kavita Gupta of ConsenSys Ventures. We may find out exactly what Chieng now thinks of Ethereum and “other stupid meme currencies.” We bet he’s a HODLer.

Leading voices from around the tech world will be stopping by Ethereal NY to share their learnings from the cutting edge of blockchain adoption. The Wall Street Journal’s Paul Vigna will dive into the role of trust over the history of civilization as studied in his new book Truth Machine (written in collaboration with MIT’s Michael Casey), and Amber Baldet will take on the notion of single chain maximalism. Elsewhere, Aya Miyaguchi of the Ethereum Foundation will discuss her own journey into the blockchain space, and Sid Coelho-Prabhu, Product Lead on Toshi at Coinbase, will offer his take on the state of Web3.

In addition to talks and presentations from leading thinkers in the blockchain space, Ethereal features a full program of art and installations inspired by a decentralized future. At this edition, highlights include Plantoid, a robot designed to look, act and grow like a plant. If you think that’s strange, check out HODLism: An Initial Soul Offering interactive experience that invites visitors to pray to Father Satoshi at an altar to decentralization. All this mind-bending madness will be followed up by a discussion on blockchain as an artistic medium.

With so many ConsenSys projects already playing an essential role in the blockchain ecosystem or racing ever closer towards a full release, the demo schedule at The Lab at Ethereal NYC includes everything from music distribution (UJO) to digital asset accounting tools (Balanc3) to smart contract-based legal agreements (OpenLaw), decentralized exchanges (AirSwap) and the world’s first fully functional decentralized supercomputer (Golem).

Do you know where your nigiri was last night? Supply chain solution Viant will present ‘Sushi and a Movie,’ demonstrating the Viant platform’s functionality in tracking fish as it moves from the oceans of Fiji to dinner plates in New York City. And yes, there will be sushi.

And if you need a break from the big ideas and high energy, the Zen Zone will offer quietude and reprieve in the form of meditation sessions, yoga, and sound baths. You gotta remember to take care of your mind, body, and soul, even when fomenting a decentralized revolution!

In closing out proceedings, ConsenSys Founder Joe Lubin will present his always-anticipated keynote titled ‘Yes It Is Happening: Waystations on the Path to a Decentralized Future,” offering insights as to the direction of ConsenSys and the blockchain world at large in 2018 and beyond.

Apologies, we had a misfire on launch. A critical issue became immediately apparent on Sentient after launch and we had to take down the network. We're working on a fix and we'll keep you updated. You won't lose coins you have mined. Thanks for the continued support. @oleggutsol

so any updates?

What's the point in a built-in cpu miner in the wallet if a standard dektop can never hit a block?

Consensus Foundation launches the Sentient network with the vision to improve governance systems at all levels through AI.

Recently, the Consensus Foundation launched version one of the Sentient network, a decentralized machine learning platform. First announced in late 2017, the project aims to both accelerate the development of decentralized artificial intelligence and make it easier for the average consumer to get started with blockchain technology.

“When we look at the next three to five years, it’s critical we bridge the gap to consumer adoption as early as possible. We need the general public to begin to understand blockchain technology — not just mining and cryptocurrencies, but also the larger, positive benefits this emerging tech can have on their lives”, says founder Oleg Gutsol.

Easy access
To encourage broad consumer adoption, the team has developed a simple native wallet and CPU miner (in addition to a command-line GPU miner), available from https://sentient.org/app. The wallet app is the first version of what will become a robust consumer interface for interacting with the Sentient network.

In the future, the wallet will be expanded into a gateway to the Sentient network, allowing anyone with relevant data to help improve machine learning algorithms and determine what allocation of resources to make available for network computations.

Proof-of-Compute and Federated Learning
The Sentient network launch is just the first step in the Consensus Foundation’s multi-year roadmap. Once the network is stable and ready, the company will introduce a Proof-of-Compute consensus algorithm that will supplement and eventually replace the Proof-of-Work currently used by Sentient. This way the compute resources made available by miners will not only be used to find the next block’s hash, but to train useful machine learning models as well.

Following the introduction of Proof-of-Compute, the Consensus Foundation will provide the network participants with the option to make a portion of its hardware resources available for artificial intelligence computations. Each node will determine what share of resources to allocate for networked computations; in exchange, it will receive a corresponding reward.

Using an approach known as federated learning, Sentient will bring the training models to where the data stores are, training models locally on network participants’ devices without the need to upload data to a centralized cluster.

Participants’ devices will maintain the only copy of their data, thus eliminating the risk of private data being compromised, stored or transmitted to a third party. This makes Sentient the ideal platform to perform machine learning with sensitive data for both the public and private sectors.

Artificial intelligence for the common good
Ultimately, the Consensus Foundation sees the launch of the Sentient network as the first step in using artificial intelligence to improve governance systems around the world. As the network expands, the foundation will add functionality that allows users to provide anonymized data about themselves in exchange for a reward in the platform’s cryptocurrency.

By using the federated learning approach for this process, Sentient network users will be able to provide their data and be compensated for it without losing control over that data. Users’ privacy is never compromised, because the data never leaves their devices. Instead, they download a copy of the model, and an update to it is generated using the data users supply.

Personal data is an extension of the person. As societies grow to understand the value in their data, the Sentient network will provide a platform for individuals to control the monetization of their data while influencing the decisions made in the cities and regions they live in — just by providing data to train an artificial intelligence.

“In the long term, we believe we can begin the process of transitioning the world towards a collective governance, where formal governments can be more efficient and more accountable, and the lives of everyone can be improved,” says Gutsol.

Nevermind, a couple of minutes ago the reward was attributed to my wallet address. It took about 18 hours to be confirmed though for solo mining...

Lots of lofty goals stated in this whitepaper but I'm not really sure if what is going on in the github repositories really relates to these goals stated in the project whitepaper. This seems like a very basic voting dapp project. What does this actually do right now?

It seems like the project is like a lesser version of bitnation.

No it is not, but it progresses quite slowly as far as I can see...
It seems a promising one, but the lack of new features and the decline of its price does not help the overall situation.
