Thats a real good news the korean government gave a green light for the bitcoiners there. Although there is a catch, only the people with real name are allowed to tradeo perform any transactions.
Another downside the government will also impose taxes on local cryptocurrency transaction.
I just learned that 20 percent of bitcoiners in the world are from south korea.

I think this is good news, which shows that the south Korean government recognizes the legitimacy of bitcoin.
Although there are some disadvantages, the overall aspect is good, which is conducive to the development of bitcoin.

i get the some point why korean government want to ban cryptocurrencies. one is prevent money laundering and fraud because some exchange don't require user to register their personal info. second to collect tax from this local exchange sites. this is good news to korean to those that are not doing bad things.

Wow ... this is really very good news for us who are involved in the world of crypto,
korea started a good start for us and hopefully many other countries like south korea that permit bitcoin to legally exist between them.
this is a good signal for crypto growth I think in the future there will be many countries that accept crypto and if that happens I am sure will greatly give positive effects to bitcoin and other coins as a very valuable asset.

A great news indeed. Based on what I read on the article above, In an estimate, "South Korea accounts 20 percent of the bit coin trades world wide." So it is safe to assume that this change will have a big impact on Bitcoin and its current value. I can't wait to see the Bitcoin price back up gain. :)

indeed a good news. This is a really good work by the south korea government to allow the bitcoin trading. This will help more people to adopt the crypto currency. I think every government should take step like this because governments have no solutions to stop them. So its better if government adopt some good rules regarding crypto currencies.

It such a great news indeed. Having this kind of news will be a great effect to the other country having this kind of currency which is not yet legal. Having some countries that allows cryptocurrency to go in the system will be a great step for the other country to legalize there cryptocurrency also . Especially if those countries allowing those kind of thing is one of the richest country worldwide.

It is good to hear that countries like Korea is finally adopting the cryptocurrency market. This is a good opportunity for aspiring investors and traders, and the fact that it is timely, its approval makes it relevant to this generation. I don't see anything wrong with real names used for trading since the government will take responsibility of moderating it. I think the reason behind this condition is to make sure that all transactions made are legal and are not violating any law and ofcourse to keep track of people who trick others.

It is a good news, however it will turn bad for those whom at the trading business having 24.2% of income taxes at their platform. Thus it is only possible with the real person with a real name bank account written on it.

The south Korean government officially recognizes the legitimacy of bitcoin.
So the bitcoin transaction is protected by law, which will help the development of bitcoin.

Regulations that occur are better than, regulation rumors. So the crypto currency investors will know what will happen if they make investment in crypto currency and this will make positive effect to price of Bitcoin.

Yes, that's good news for bitcoin. Korea is no longer banned from bitcoin. It is good news for bitcoin users in Korea in particular and for bitcoin users in general. Certainly bitcoin will recover quickly and it will increase again

A tax on bitcoin and cryptocurrency is clearly a good thing.
Taxing legal, because the Korean market for the encryption of money market is huge, when they are going to close the exchange proved to be a fake news, the whole market will restore confidence, so the price of the BTC will rise again. ;D

This was going to happen one day or another , i mean bithumb has the most volume in the world and many other south korean exchanges have the highest volumes which is surprising as it is mostly in one particular country and not international.
The reason behind this is surely the upcomming elections the government doesn't want to any dissatisfaction among it's people that's surely the reason for this move. I completely support it as it will have a healthy impact in the future.

Well, for Bitcoin this is a good thing. Not so good for Monero (privacy being the main advantage there ).

Tax believe that is too great percent 10-12 percent of the profits I stress - that's fine. Because the market is very risky and at any moment you could lose everything.

Finally I heard a good news. I trust in the future many countries in Asia Will follow to legalize bitcoin including my country, just need a time until that happen. I really don't understand if any country chose to ban bitcoin, whereas bitcoin can provide a lot of profit to those.

Yes, that is good news especially with all the negative news on the regulations of Bitcoin, we see something that is beneficial. These along with other news in the global market can easily affect the price of Bitcoin, which contributes to Bitcoin being extremely volatile. This is what i expected form the past happenings in korea.
They will just add regulations on it and not a total ban to bitcoin, they just notice how cryptocurrency are so active in these past few months specially on asia's country.
I hope this will also happen to Indonesia and China that they will just put rules and tax on it and not phasing out of bitcoin to their country

It is good news because bitcoin will become legally used it korea but only people who have real name are allowed to participate. The government will have a huge benefit with it if tax will be imposed on profits earned by the bitcoiners. Not actually bad as long as everyone will be fair on regulation.

Its a hell lot of ride for crypto in South Korea, One day all these crisis will end soon and crypto prices will rise again. Its always a big loss when some big countries put pressure on cryptocurrency, I hope that after this the growth will become continuous and more profitable.

yeah, it obviously is a good news for the people there who wanted to continue being involved with cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin.

but i say a better news would have been if they continued with the ban!
in which case it would have helped with building the infrastructure for more decentralization and pushed people towards understanding that a decentralized currency such as bitcoin does not need government approval. it is permission-less to use it.
and as we all know "Necessity is the mother of invention"!

It's a much better solution than the total crypto trading ban that was being floated around. A 24% tax is however on the higher side. Seems governments will do anything to control any crypto activities.

Even I've known this news for at least a couple of days now. It isn't bad news of course. But I don't see how that can make Bitcoin prices soar at this present time. But if it does pump and pump then I will be the one losing out. But I can't complain because I made the wrong decision. It's up to me.

Very good information, I saw a few days ago they fought bitcoin, but today they slowly got bitcoin. did they fight yesterday to plan for bitcoin regulation?

Haven't gone through the article, but if the information is true surely we'll see a good increase in price of bitcoin along with other altcoins. Few days back the steep fall too happened because of the ban in the the same country and now with certain restrictions again letting the users to involve into trading gives positive energy.

Yup! I really think we should wait a little more for the price to really pump before we can celebrate a lot but actually bitcoin will still recover even if South Korea keeps on banning Cryptocurrency I really think the dip is just on the month of January and we can see some pumping when we go on the quarterly of February.

Wow, that was really a good news. Having back bitcoin in Korea again has a big impact into a price of bitcoin, because Korea has a great population too, having Bitcoin banned in Korea means it affects the Bitcoin traders and holders to not used bitcoin, and that will affect Bitcoin price to get lower because of the bitcoin community is being affected too. Bitcoin community helps Bitcoin to be more usable or to be more famous. And the price will get higher too.

That is nice to read. I certainly hope the market will recover because of this good news. Ive been on this for a while that I observed when there is a negative news about bitcoin it is gravely affected and vice versa. but if bitcoin price drops the alts drops too and if btc price goes up the alts goes down too. So if you have some crypto now other than btc I suggest you get out for a while.

There was news in the past that South Korea would ban bitcoin transactions.
The price of bitcoins has fallen.
Now the south Korean authorities have come out.
Bitcoin is legal in South Korea.
Then bitcoin will soon return to normal.

In many years of its existence, bitcoin proved that no one can beat a good coin down as its faced many past challenges like government crackdowns, labeled as scam, ponzi scheme, a bubble, and it has also been proclaimed dead coin many times. Countless bitcoin investors profited many times either by long term hold or in trading.
Bitcoin prices can not avoid many corrections, some of them are massive but it will surely rebound when the right time come. These are some of the reasons why my belief in bitcoin continues.

I think this would be good news for the majority of people into bitcoins and crypto in general as the additional users and traders would definitely up the value of bitcoin given the would be increase in demand that comes as a result of this. Formal acknowledgement of bitcoin from a government would impose certain rules and regulations but I think it will play a good role because rules being set is there to ensure that bitcoin trading is legitimate and legal in terms of users and traders. It gives everyone more peace of mind knowing that certain requirements must be followed before getting into bitcoins. For me, that may be putting a leash to it but it atleast gives an additional layer of security and protection to anyone.

Good first step to keep cryptocurrencies flowing into the real world. I believe if established companies are earning very large profits using cryptos then is completely fine to have them regulated and taxing. The governments don't want this free-will at a corporate level and I agree with that, otherwise centralization exists and becomes invisible... Hope it still makes it easy for the people, South Koreans have a hard time trading and withdrawing their funds, hope this changes too.

I will wait for at least a month for the new merit system to take place and reflect on ranking up to see if threads would grow so fast. having to give your personal information to be able to trade with Bitcoin is regulating the exchange of Bitcoin or crypto currencies.
While the rest of the world are making money with Bitcoin trading without any need for a decentralized currency, me and my terrorist buddies are using this pumps and dumps to get more money to build nuclear bombs and drop them on you all.
I don't think this could pump the price more than $500.

That is nice to read. I certainly hope the market will recover because of this good news. I have been on this for a while that I observed when there is a negative news about bitcoin it is gravely affected and vice versa. but if bitcoin price drops the alts drops too and if btc price goes up the alts goes down too. So if you have some crypto now other than bitcoin I suggest you get out for a while.

This is not a good news. The South Korean government is actually trying to make crypto more used (that's right, that's good) by turning it non-anonymous and control it through banks. They even say that revenus from such source will be taxed at a 24.2% rate.

Does it sound good to you?

I think that South Korea and its government are a step ahead of other countries regarding crypto. But if such regulation was to be adopted in all countries, it would be the end of bitcoin as it was designed in the first place, that is to say as a new financial system, aiming at getting rid of banks. It will merely turn to a trading tool. :-\

Yes, this should be a glad tidings to the Koreans but I don't think it is necessarily a great news for the global Bitcoin community. Whether there is a liberal acceptance of bitcoin by them or not, Bitcoin price will always rebound at the right time. By the way, Korea isn't that a great economy like China. Yet, when China banned its citizens from participating in bitcoin activities Bitcoin still survived it and recorded a fresh ATH after. I am really nonchalant towards what the Koreans legislation is on Bitcoin.

Isn't this done already through KYC regulations? With this kind of new implementation, I don't think it's a 'yay' for traders who want to keep anonymous on using their crypto. This is just a workaround or their (South Korean Government) legal means of controlling their people's money. Frankly this doesn't solve anything apart from the lessening of fraud which is the only thing this new implementation fixes, and it seems that the South Korean government wouldn't be a bitcoin-friendly state even in the months to come.

Why do people get so happy about this? South Korea has stated some days ago that it would prohibit people from anonymous crypto trading. This directly implies that people will still be able to trade and whatnot, but only after verification. In other words, this article is just rehashing other articles, but then in a way they make it seem like it is a newly written article. It's lazy 'journalism' from the lowest levels, which is something that I have seen happen for quite a while now. It's almost like there isn't anything interesting to write about anymore. Yes, those are good news. They are not the "ideal news", because they somehow try to remove your privacy, but this is probably fair enough, and it's definitely better than a ban like China did. Governments clearly just want to be able to charge taxes, and this will give them the ability to do just that.
Of course that I've recently saw this video of Andreas about the price of losing privacy, and it makes me wonder if they are just trying to charge taxes, or if it is something else.

I hope that all the FUD will be gone now. The situation in South Korea shows us that whenever there are talks about government intervention this does not equal to “banning” cryptos. However, I am wondering if market volume in South Korea will get back to its previous levels, as the loss of anonymity may scare off a few investors. This could be particularly true for those who created accounts before submission of IDs and personal data was necessary on exchanges. These are the ones that will now loose their anonymity.

I am also not familiar with the South Korean tax system. Now that the government will be in a position to track taxable actions it may be possible that there will be less trading and more long term investments, as is e.g encouraged by the tax law in my country, where profits are tax free once you have held your cryptos for a year.

What do you think?

For me this is not really good news. Bitcoin is decentralized and not centralized. The step of government shown that bitcoin in their country is centralized. This is a good news indeed. The previous reports about South Korea banning of Cryptocurrency I guess it's just a strategy of a certain business men to shakes the market so assurance of profit after investing in market is sure.
South Korea can be considered as huge market for Crypto so doing so it will hurt the price badly.

That will be a good idea with regards to KYC so that at least, everyone who invest or participate on cryptocurrencies are not concealed in the public since everyone is obliged to verify himself/herself. With that, it will be a deterrent for bad guys to commit shady activity or crimes.

It's understandable, with constant threats for north (aka) best Korea it makes sense that certain security measures including knowing who might be moving big bucks around. As for taxes let's face it I can't find many untaxed investment/currency other than gold and silver which with all precious metals are not taxed. I'm in the us I have no idea how I'm going to pay my crypto taxes but I'll do it, as little as I can but I'll do it. South Korea government never stated Bitcoin will be banned, the initial news of a few weeks ago was that it would be forbidden to trade coins anonymously, you will need to use your real name, and verify your identity on every platform you use.

This is common sense.

Big thumbs down to those who twisted the news and make it sound like Korea was about to ban bitcoin. Same thing happened with China in October, they talked about banning ICO and many here said bitcoin was banned in China. Please be careful when you share news.

Regulations will be implemented simply because governments want to benefit from the profits made by taxing them.

This is good news. I think that governments are banning crypto because of its tendency to be used in money laundering. So their move is to monitor the exchanges per person but it will defeat the whole purpose of having a private transaction using cryptocurrency. For sure it will grow fast in korea because they are the firsy country who offer bank funds transfer to bitcoin. Sooner or later korean will replenish fiat money and use only cryptocurrency for their transaction to all establishment, but i think it might be difficult for the people to adjust when it became official currency to korean because there are people in rural area who don't have ideas about bitcoin.

While this is leading to exciting times, I think the more it is being legalized, the more people will be swayed from it by reason of psychological factors. People will always go for things that are in the black market because it is cheap, tax free, and money is quite well. Hence, you can see it is not by reason of its being illegal that people are into it but instead the benefits they derive from it like saving more money. Bitcoin price might go up a little but that does not mean that the price will actually stay up and keep going up. By now we all already know that bitcoin price is very unstable and can change in a minute so we can only watch and see what happens to the market but for now it seems bitcoin has gone back to the $6k territory again so I don't think we are getting out of the bear market yet.

But, we also should think about why must use their real name? I think there is something hidden behind this decision. Australia recently came with regulations on cryptocurrency to control money laundering and using it to make payment for crimes or illegal goods. This is indeed good news for the Korean Cryptocurrency economy. Though the government of korea plans to collect corporate taxes to local cryptocurrency exchanges but the overall situation has been good. With new regulations set by the South Korean Government they can avoid money laundering and at the same time gain taxes from the local exchanges.

Even if no other country allow Bitcoin from now has no affect on Bitcoin price and the current low price is far and more higher than every other currency that is 60 times more than the 2nd number currency so it is a witness for its future survival. Why should I pay taxes to the government that won't even try to ease my effort in gaining the added value for them?

Some people like to see some sign of health before buying though. It's fine to buy now, as long as you don't put everything in during the climb (and it was good if you had a chance to buy the dip too). I feel that it's best to buy in stages. The more volume, the harder it is for whales to create greater volatility, but I agree that whales often like it when people react quickly or predictably.

In my country many bitcoiner encourage people to join bitcoin but they need to study it first. Actually I heard from news that it
will open a coffee shop which will accept bitcoin and eth as way of payment. That would be great it means little by little their is a step to crypto world. this is good news brothers, but if you look at the date of the release of the news and the current date then the news is long ago and it happened when the bitcoin price is already at its peak. I hope more so that you can give more recent news about good news

Good for you. Just hold to your Bitcoin. There was a time when Bitcoin value was very low that it was almost next to nothing, then again we have it around $10,000 and even $20,000 a Bitcoin

Well for every red and green market there is an opportunity that we can get. Many people are crying when the market was red and panic selling their coins instead of taking opportunity. Now the market is green, people will become more optimistic amd hopefully we'll at least learn to take advantage of the movements
