Title: Facebook is banning all ads that promote cryptocurrencies
Post by: Nich01as on January 31, 2018, 02:18:37 AM
Facebook is banning all ads that promote cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, in an effort to prevent people from advertising what the company is calling “financial products and services frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.”

That means no advertiser — even those that operate legal, legitimate businesses — will be able to promote things like bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings — ICOs for short — or binary options, according to a Facebook blog post.

The possibility that such ads are forbidden by facebook may fear that later will be on the block and the negative impact to the media, so it is for me just a suggestion or news which has not been certainly apply by Facebook.

This policy is intentionally broad while we work to better detect deceptive and misleading advertising practices, and enforcement will begin to ramp up across our platforms.
Facebook has issued an outright ban. As of a new ruling issued on January 30, “ads must not promote financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices, such as binary options, initial coin offerings, or cryptocurrency”.

29. Prohibited Financial Products and Services
Policy
Ads must not promote financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices, such as binary options, initial coin offerings, or cryptocurrency.

Examples:

“Start binary options trading now and receive a 10-risk free trades bonus!”
“Click here to learn more about our no-risk cryptocurrency that enables instant payments to anyone in the world.”
“New ICO! Buy tokens at a 15% discount NOW!”
“Use your retirement funds to buy Bitcoin!”

Content however can still be posted and promoted...just not in the form of an ad. Facebook bounties should not be effected very much by this so it should not be a huge issue for people on this forum. Plus, many people were being scammed by shitcoins and therefore the ban needed to be implemented to save crypto from getting an even worse rep than it currently has.

I don't think that this is much to worry about. It will all settle and besides there will always be ways around this stuff. Facebook just doesn't want to promote scams. Which is understandable! I'm more concerned about the audit situation with tether.

If that is really the case, then it may have such a profoubnd and negative effect on the cryptocurrency market, most especially, in the ICO market where one of the campaigns is promotion through social media. However, I do not exactly think thay facebook is aiming to ban such activities; I think that they are just limiting unwanted and trash contents filling their system, after all, the promotions brought about by the ICOs are still traffic they can exploit.

A big step against crypto currencies again, Wonder what caused them to take this extreme step, before this they were implementing accepting litecoins as a payment system.

In my opinion, this is due to the fact that a lot of ICOs that people advertised were fraud and people complained, so now they will filter out the advertising of various projects

I think that too, same as Chinese government banned ICO's to protect its citizens. I don't think there is any bad intention.

I didn't see this coming because Facebook never usually turns down a quick bit of cash on a fad. Honestly it won't impact too much because you can just create good content to be shared by bounty campaigns or shared in groups.

Just really shooting themselves in the foot and losing some revenue. Personally I just think it is a marketing campaign to seem more moral after the whole Russia election scandal.

Seems Facebook is deciding to grow a moral backbone all of a sudden...

Facebook is just complying to what the SEC is doing, mark zuckerberg really intended to have his own cryptocurrency but U.S government might be holding his kneck right now thats why he did this, facebook is a user friendly socialmedia platform when you read their TOS they do not promote pornography ,graphic violence, and including fraudulent acitivities like investment scams-which ICOs are qualified to because most of the ICOs nowaways are just raising funds then will eventually ran away.Facebook is just being protective to its users and there is nothing new about this ban,i have been using facebook from the past 11 years thats why i know how facebook works, they are regularly making changes in almost everything.

who gives a shit what facebook does and does not do.

the average person on face book that has not heard of bitcoin and has not already looked into crypto is probably worth about zero in investment terms

facebook is demonstrating what a pile of centralised shit it is and soon to be overtaken and demolished by decentralised social networks

not to mention this news has been the seed for 50x of this same thread since yesterday

What exact social networks do you mean? What the point in "decentralized" social network in compare to centralized one?
I don't think the Facebook going to be overtaken by anybody in nearest future.

This is a side effect of poor/scam/fraud ICO/ITOs.

It needs to be remedied -- this is the single biggest thing I hear when I talk to people who follow the crypto market from "the other side" (investment banking community).

And I have to agree with them, there's too much low-quality stuff out there.

We will fix this problem, though.

Best regards,
Ben

Ya, Facebook banned fake ICOs who are running there promotion campaign on social media platform. They say if the contents of ICO are against our rules & regulations and could be spam then we banned them immediately. But those ICOs who follow our rules and have genuineness, then there is no problem. I think this is a good step to save peoples by fraud.

This is not filtered in all the shit ICOs because many good ICOs also available in the market so both are affected in same time it is little sad news in many investors. I am also worried about the cryptocurrency advertisement banned in Facebook  because it is easy to gain some knowledge in upcoming coins.

This prohibition applies to Facebook's targeting ads. In your tape, no one forbids you to write advertising posts. Although over time it's possible to take over and personal tapes.

I'm very happy that they took this step. There's not one serious crypto add that I saw on Facebook! The "good" COINS AND ico's don't need to run a apid campaign on Facebook, only shitcoins were advertising on FB and Instagram trying to make idiots throw their money away.

I think this is the right decision. A lot of spam in the FB and multi-accounts that take part in bounty campaigns. The next step is to make Twitter. Moreover, campaigns in social networks are ineffective for the promotion of projects.

Can't believe they did this as they are losing easy money on this especially with the amount of cash that ICO's are throwing in marketing.

I think that it is their loss and they are only doing this for PR.

On the one hand, this ban is good becausethere will be will less spam any garbage in  social networks but it would be better to forbid the advertising of cigarettes. I think this  situation will weaken marketing to many projects.

This means that no advertiser, including legal companies, will be able to advertise bitcoins and other crypto-currencies, offers to purchase tokens within ICO or binary options. Facebook calls them financial products and services that are used to mislead users or fraud. The ban applies to the social network, Instagram service and the Audience Network advertising platform. We want users to be able to learn about new products and services from advertising on Facebook, without fear of fraud or deception. Nevertheless, there are many unscrupulous companies advertising binary options, ICO and crypto-currencies.

If this is true, I think this is really a serious matter for ICOs who uses facebook for their promotional campaign. If facebook wants to ban crypto ads, then who comes next? Twitter, instagram?  If these happens,  ICOs and all their supporters, including people in this forum will be  affected also.

As what i understand on this, post that are selling or advertising that involves money which may pull people inito investing or may include money and might result into a financial problem, most "some" of an advertisement leads to people and cause them to lose money and some are just scam.
facebook want to prevent things like this, though they are not closing doors with CRYPTOCURRENCIES, which can still be posted like their project development, convention, and some important updates which have no money involve or investments.

I don't think that biggest purpose of the investment is being fulfilled by the hype these coins create on social media but rather on the fact that all of these coins are the promotion of new ways of applying blockchain technology. If people are not aware of the updates on blockchain then these new techs will not be used.

As far as i know that will not give a lot of impact for your facebook account until there is someone will try to report your post as a spam. Because after ads of crypto already banned by facebook and it maybe considered as spam. Be careful when posted anything in facebook. But as long as the facebook fan page of ico still not get closed by facebook and i think that you will be fine.

I think facebook's policy is just as wrong as any other social network that sets its own rules for using content. Pornography, violence, propaganda of terrorism must be monitored and unacceptable. and what is the fault of cryptocurrency in General? Let the rating ICO give those individuals and companies who do this professionally, and otherwise get me silenced and not allowed to Express their opinion. No freedom of speech.

I, too, do not see anything wrong with this. There is a fight against fraud on Facebook, since fraud has now become a very big problem for people. In addition, I think that effective methods are being developed to combat fraud and these restrictions will still change for a positive result. Therefore, it is too early to panic yet. There is a normal process of regulation, because complete anarchy in the crypto currency is beneficial only to scammers.

Actually when this news come out that facebook is banned all advertisement that related about cryptocurriencies,i fell worried because many more people who belong in this  community will be affected and also next the twitter and google, declaring also banned by this coming of june,so i wonder of what happen of the digital currency now?but in other place i thinks positve that  maybe this is there ways to control those ICO who make only scam or ponzi to the other right group of platforn developer, and this they called banned of facebook ,twitter  and google advertisement is not a banned but least controlling the Scam ICO and phishing site that manipulate the world of cryptocurrency.
