It'll also be interesting to see what effect this will have on precious metals too. However, Obama and co have been getting lots of backlash as many members of the House and Senate plus super majorities of the American people don't want this to happen.

Me either.  The majority of Americans are against any interference and Obama has said no "boots on ground."  Obviously this could change but for right now I see the "attack" as nothing more than a couple of cruise missiles launched their way to tell them to knock it off.  1,500 casualties isn't an incredibly large amount in the grand scheme of things.

Anything the Russians and Chinese states can do to drive Bitcoin adoption is in their interest when the US behaves increasingly belligerently, a hot war is not sensible. They've only been doing this already for a while now, after all, just not too flagrantly. But the more aggressively the US pursues this madness, the more we can expect indirect hostility to US dominance in all spheres (currency and financial domination being only one area)

current jump in exchange rates is related to past week's US regulators meet up with the Foundation. i think some folks in DC got excited along with some speculators and maybe even attracted those who were still on a fence about getting into bitcoin before.

Most BTC investors are very far from Syria, and they may care about what's going on there, but I fail to understand how this could make them invest more, or bring more people investing.

I love this rhetoric: why vote for a human that promises policies when you could just vote for the policy instead of the human? I don't want a lump of flesh to represent my interests, I want my actual interests to be put to the vote. If no-one else votes with me, I'll move to where they do. That system would be genuine free democracy, as in, the way the word directly translates from the Greek language it comes from.

The Arab League just came out and said military force is not an option, a pretty big blow to Obama. 

Unanimously? Such a statement would be a massive repudiation of US meddling, by many that ordinarily comply happily. It's hard to see how it could be spun into further belligerence, aside from declaring war on the entire Middle East (Obama: "Wrong answer!" <presses armageddon button>)

Two words: Don't attack.

One man's dictator is another's defender of the faith. What I mean is that it's remarkable that such a mix of differently aligned rulers could possibly endorse such a statement, it would be a real diversion from any expected course. I do not condone what is reported of many of these rulers, but the fog of war is extra thick, it's a little arrogant to presume which of these regimes are "goodies" or "baddies" on the basis of the information we can obtain about them. Picture is sketchy. Rumours of reliable US lapdogs performing about-turns are swashing around the undercurrents right now.

Well people have been taking money out of emerging markets due to the human variable. They get scared and pull out everything causing those investments to fail. furthermore, Bitcoin has been getting emence amounts of press lately. this means that people are taking money out of other places, and they might come across an article related to bitcoins, and choose to invest there. being a decentralized currency, it's value always goes up and people see it as a star investment. then people invest money and the value of the item goes up further, making even more people want to invest in it. since there are no outside factors, and people understand that their is no logical reason for the bitcoin to fall, as it's not based on the success of anything else, it will always succeed. Making the threat on Syria a valid reason for the bitcoin to increase in value.

In dire times of war national currencies are no longer accepted by trading partners due to default risk, huge inflation and so on. This is what happened in WW2 and also in recent times. Gold becomes the only valid currency but since Bitcoin is much easier to move around than gold....it really is gold 2.0. If not, then the USD would continue to be the standard reserve currency, and other countries would use that when trading.

I know there's an Iranian exchange that recently popped up. Not sure how quickly they can access that but people usually take precautionary steps. They don't actually wait for the slaughter to get to their front door before acting.

Theoretically USD could also be an option but it's better to store and move gold for such occasions than USD. Gold is more reliable than any fiat currency. This was proven historically many times over.
