Title: forkdelta.github.io - exchange for trading ERC20 tokens (EtherDelta analogue)
Post by: rebrik7 on February 01, 2018, 02:51:02 PM
Dear friends!

I want to bring this topic to the general discussion.

Here is a link to the ForkDelta exchange:
https://forkdelta.github.io (https://forkdelta.github.io)

I came across this exchange by accident. In one of the Telegram Channels, someone threw off a link to buy tokens through this exchange.
In fact, this is a complete tracing paper with EtherDelta.com (even placed on Github, like Delta before).

The only thing that bothered me was the almost complete lack of information. And, with the huge bunch of scams for last time, it's somehow scary to shove your private key wherever you get (damn, somehow it went off, okay, I hope you understand me correctly:))).

I did not find on the forum information or topic devoted to this exchange, maybe badly searched.

What information is available from other sources?

First of all, it is Github itself:
https://github.com/forkdelta (https://github.com/forkdelta)
It shows that it is being updated, some corrections are being made. My knowledge of programming is not enough to make sure everything is there cleanly, but there are no rhetoric comments. I believe that the code plus or minus is copied from the good old Delta.

Further Reddit:
The user freeatnet (https://www.reddit.com/user/freeatnet) on January 5 or 6 wrote the post I forked EtherDelta (https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherDelta/comments/7odsni/i_forked_etherdelta_forkdelta/), in which he expressed his thoughts about EtherDelta and why he decided to "fork" it. In principle, nothing new, writes about the latest hacking, this crap with the release of their tokens, etc. Naturally, author declares that ForkDelta will not go along this path and will be maximally improved towards security.
Comments are without much negativity, somebody gave karma points for this post, that is also a plus sign.

Official account on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/forkdelta (https://twitter.com/forkdelta)
Again, we can only assume that it's official, in any case it was created on January 5, at about the same time a code appeared on the github.
The account has a good activity, many tweets about new listings and other information, well, some percentage of confidence inspires.

In general, if the principle of the exchange EtherDelta is maintained, that is, the addresses interact with the exchange through the smart-contract itself and private keys do not fall anywhere, it can be used.

I'm afraid that this would not be some sort of scam, like the developer will collect our private keys and then massively cheat all of us.

I would like to hear those who have already traded on ForkDelta, and in general your opinions on this matter.
Can we use it?

P.S. Sorry for maybe some mistakes, English is not my native language :)

I also know this exchange from you, if this hard fork from etherdelta, then this exchange is worth a try. Waiting for reviews, there may be friends here who often trade there.

The value of Etherdelta is on the volume. Otherwise it's slow and full of bugs.

Everybody could fork the ED github and run an exchange but without a value, you are doomed.

I understand this facts.
But if we talk specifically about this exchange, how do you think, is it safe to trade on it?

If you use MetaMask it should be as safe as EtherDelta is. They are both using the same contract. Apart from a little better design, I don't see what forkdelta brings to the table.

After checking that they are using the same/original contract, I moved to forkdelta.github.io from yesterday. With Metamask of course.

The main reason - ED twitter account is banned and most of the time ED is freezing me on syndicate.twitter.com and I need to refresh over and over again. forkdelta.github.io had removed the tweeter feed from bottom-right and they don't have this problem.

How are things doing with Fork Delta? I need to move my altcoins to another exchange because Ether Delta is no longer working and, above all its developers haven't made any statement to explain the reasons.

Along with the lack of communication, the failing ICO, the new coin listing rules, no improvements, I think we have had enough and it’s time to move on.
Is Fork Delta trustworthy? I didin’t find much news about it and still seems no well known.

Thanks

It seems there is no problem. we use metamask also to go into forkdelta. i have tried it and  safe .. there is no other choice because etherdelta now does not work.

Forkdelta is a noble project where it will continue what was started by EtherDelta

You have to give private key to the site. We are always being told not to give key. Do we make second wallet to transfer into and then to site and keep wallet empty until we want to trade?

it is the same as in MEW when you login using key.

alternatively, you could use metamask so you don't login with your key.

Only hear about this right now!

From what I have seen is just a new UI on top of EtherDelta code! Even the Smart Contract in use is the ED one!

Due to ED currently being not working properly, volume not being displayed and trade history not updated I will give a try to this ForkDelta!

Just transfer with success some tokens into the Smart Contract and everything is ok.
I'll give a try for some days...

looks those FD guys are serious. they eventually moved away from ED both UI and backend to be fully independent.
I have high hopes for them.

you have to select withdraw tab (beside deposit tab) and specify the amount to withdraw on the eth textbox, and click the withdraw button. It should transfer the eth from FD to your eth address

Yes, I have been using ForkDelta lately and I'm very pleased!

I take a look under their FAQ's and I realized that they are really serious about this.
It was awesome if we had anyone of FD Team here in BitcoinTalk to interact with the community.

Currently they are using EtherDelta Smart Contract, so the fee's go to ED, but they have plan to create their own Smart Contract.
Now in development according to what I understand from FAQ's

When i go to site it asked me my ETH wallet private key.. This is really something dangerous. If i was new in to this business i could give my key and now everything is gone.. Thank god i haven't..

This is the major problem people are facing with ED, not only now we have faced this situation for many days and owners are not all increasing storage device in order to increase the capacity. Most of the smart contract coin will be firstly listed in ED but no one is showing any interest towards ED because of very slow processing transactions.

Not much different from Etherdelta because both of these exchanges have long and slow response and loading. It is not in my mind to use this exchange. For DECENTRALIZED exchange, I prefer to use EtherFlyer because I think this exchange has better response and loading than Etherdelta or Forkdelta.

Just had a look at etherflyer exchange. Although it has a good listing of ERC-20 tokens there does not appear to be any volume. Is this a new exchange?

ForkDelta is doing pretty well. Daily volume has grown upto 2kk$ already.
I believe it's close to replace EtherDelta completely. And it really works faster than ED for me. As for safety reasons, ForkDelta works on the same principles as ED did, so they don't store your imported accounts' private keys. The only danger is to be phished. So be careful and use MetaMask to be completely safe.

I hope this is going to do better than etherdelta as we are Having some problems used etherdelta to trade. Fork is good if it will help resolve the issue people are raising in the main assets and many of those that has happened has not meet with that standard. we need a decentralized exchange that can compete with etherdelta!

I tried forkdelta for first time today.Managed to transfer 0.003 ether for gas and an ERC-20 token to do a test. The ether and token were received in the wallet without any problem. Had problem transferring into exchange area at top left as it kept saying I did not have enough gas. When I returned to try again later it had transferred but 0.002 ether has been used which I thought was high. No problem as I am testing.
My concern is that the trade expires after 10000 blocks. What happens if trade is not concluded? Do I lose my 0.002 ether? Is it possible to change the number of blocks before placing trade?
Thanks in advance for any help.

But now both fd and ed are dead from traffic and volume.

Have to agree that there is not much volume on forkdelta. Do not know though if it is because it is a new exchange or if there is no interest in the tokens.

When i first tried out Forkdelta i did really feel the difference among between them with Etherdelta which i do love FD way more than on ED when it comes to loading times and not so heavy UI even they are still on the same graphics or even almost identical but now when the traffic transfers mainly on FD on past days or weeks ive felt the slow down once again which caused by so much traffic into the site.

I have trading about 3 weeks on Forkdelta, all is OK.
It works faster, much more stable than Etherdelta. My money is still in my wallet, nobody did not steal it :)

And design become better. Website layout is excellent. Now I can create a buy and sell orders without problem like before, when the "buy" button was outside my screen.

When compared to EtherDelta, ForkDelta is better because they are only a few people are trading. With the EtherDelta it is taking a lot of time for loading their values and prices and it makes people frustrated about it, when placing an order it is taking a lot of time than expected.

Man, don't warry. A lot of people at moment already tried to trade on ForkDelta, and there was not any problem.
At least, you can use one more address for traiding on FD, or use Metamask addon with Chrome.

I always use etherdelta and i dont have any major issues, only sometimes it is slow which is tolerable for me.

If i try and i am impress, i transfer from ED to FD

I think you could see your deposit or tokens on both and you could work either on ED or FD. Since they are using the same contract at the moment.

fork delta is an exchange that can be said to be 99% similar to etherdelta, and the new delta fork appears after etherdelta has a hacker attack, if I think the delta fork is lighter its website and the price comparison is slightly better than etherdelta

i'm having the same problem tonight. and while i'm not new, isn't gas and gwei two separate things? the only option is increasing gwei which i thought only allowed for speedier sends. it's set at 4 but maybe it needs to go to 60 or so. however, like i said, there's no indication of gas, only gwei. :-\

update: next day i found the EDT token i'd bought and moved it from FD wallet to wallet (middle) then transferred out to another mew. nice!

i have been experiencing lags all the day and couldnot trade for some time as well today. But unlike EtherDelta teams ForkDelta resumed normal service very fast and also has been transparent in twitter.

I had some Lotus tokens from bounty program and the telegram channel give me link to here: https://forkdelta.github.io/#!/trade/LTO-ETH

When i go to site it asked me my ETH wallet private key.. This is really something dangerous. If i was new in to this business i could give my key and now everything is gone.. Thank god i haven't..

Im a ForkDelta User whats the problem Folks? ForkDelta is much Better than EDelta and About Asking private key its normal when you import your existing wallet,  without your private key its impossible to import it. or simply you can create a new wallet in that case you cant used your personal wallet and not debulge your private key! all do in the previous months I dont like much decentralized exchange but due rising fees on Centralized Exchange I have no choice but to used it so far so good I dont see any flaws! on Forkdelta

Never use this exchange because I do not want to just try. Until now I still prefer and comfortable to use Etherdelta exchange even though we know Etherdelta exchanges have many problems before.

For a long time already I know about this exchanger. But I do not like decentralized exchanges. On them the prices are very low. It is better to send a coin to a large stock exchange and sell it there. You decide. But I do just that.

I do not fully understand the operation of orkdelta.github.io  I can not sell my tokens..  sell orders are canceled by themselves.  0.01 ethereum deducted from my account.  but sales did not materialize.. interesting..

There is such thing as order expiration time, in blocks. By default it is 10'000 blocks, that approximately a week. And if your order was not filled through that time, it will be cancelled automatically. You should manually out number of blocks for expiration, 100k or 1m for example. Then order shall have more time to be filled.

Probably you're just trying to deposit all the amount you have and you don't take into consideration a fee you need to pay for your deposit transfer or you're trying to send a transaction with very high gas price set. Maybe that's the case you don't have enough ETH on your balance.

Never use this exchange because I do not want to just try. Until now I still prefer and comfortable to use Etherdelta exchange even though we know Etherdelta exchanges have many problems before.
If Forkdelta is not just a copy of Etherdelta but even utilizes the same smart contract, why do you think it's better to use Etherdelta? Why didn't you even give it a try?
Forkdelta is not as trusted as Etherdelta, at least for now, but it looks like it works in time faster then Etherdelta.
Maybe you've heard something regarding Forkdelta reliability and security or could explain what your decision is based on?

thanks for comment, It's not a week, I think it's a few days. I never liked this place. my orders are canceled. and my ethereums is disappearing.

For me Forkdelta is much faster then Etherdelta (in my country i need to use Tor), but last times i had issues with deposit there. Are they solved now? Does everything work correct?

In Edelta we can login using our private key but forkdelta allows us to create a new account with private key which is somehow good. I created an account just today, I'm trying to check whether I can withdraw the coins back but I don't see the withdraw button. I was abut to sent some ETH to buy some tokens not listed yet in any exchange but this stopped me. Anyone help me where to find to withdraw link?

Hi, help me please,

I have about 0.85 ETH in forkdelta and want to withdraw about 0.5 ETH, but why I can't withdraw my ETH to MEW.

Error
You tried to send an Ethereum transaction but there was an error. Make sure you have enough ETH in your "Wallet" column to pay for the gas fee. If you already have a pending transaction (enter your address on Etherscan to find out), please wait for it to confirm, or increase your "gas price" (in the upper right dropdown) and try again.

Seems your eth is in your forkdelta wallet and to be able to transfer your eth to wallet you still need some gas to cover the fee in which it always gets credit in wallet. Too bad I can't provide the screenshot for you to understand easily.

Hope this will help somehow.

You would need up some ETH for your gas on your erc20 wallet itself (not on Forkdelta balance). It would really shows error if you dont have sufficient ETH on your wallet.
Try to put up some balance and try again the transaction because this is the stuff which give me a headache on using up DEX.

There is 2 Wallets in your Delta account , 1 is Trading wallet and 1 is wallet you can withdraw . You need some GAS in the wallet to move your ETH from Trading wallet .  Then you can withdraw your ETH . Hopefully you understand what i mean . If not check this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgVPMB_o6YE

Hi mates. Got some issues with Forkdelta.
I know how to trade here and had already concluded bunch of trades.
The issue is: Yesterday I've sent from metamask wallet to Deposit exchange. The following two transactions went OK. I've had these tokens in Forkdelta window and then after refreshing they've gone.
Now I don't have these tokens in Forkdelta.

What's the deal? It's the 1st time

Update: tokens appeared on forkbalance today, the issue solved.

Did you solve that problem and how?
I see that it's been a long time ago, but me friend has met same problem recently..

UPD: Sorry, didn't see your update firstly. As far as I understand, the problem was solved by itself.
Well, wait.

Personally I'm not :) Especially considering tha fact that it is just interface and all interaction takes place through smartcontracts.
I’m not a programmer and I’m not exactly sure; perhaps it is possible to somehow intercept private keys. But as far as I know, this is unlikely without hacking the blockchain network itself.

That can possibly happen when you import your private key in a decentralized site, it will be vulnerable to everything. What I do to prevent this is I make a new wallet and I'll just transfer my token that I'll be trading and that's what I'll use in etherdelta.

Sometimes even we forget account our info is still in their system so don't take the chances.
