i have been trading and have some pretty decent returns in first week of january and huge losses later on.i think most of people here in same like me.i have been hodling my positions.
what are your ideas on increasing your btc portfolio?BTC

Well, the strategy is quite simple. You buy on the Dip and sell at the Highest price possible. I bought Bitcoin @ $1000+ last year and I am still smiling, because I can still make a huge profit at the current price.

If you wait long enough and buy on the Dip, then mini Dumps/crashes like this is no risk at all. People are very short sighted and wants to Day trade bitcoins. <short-term>

Buy dips and crashes. Sell at ATHs. Best of all, jus HODL. Guys crypto is at its infancy. We have a long way to go. If you want to get more of your BTC port, join campaigna, become an advocate.

Personally I just slowly purchased low amounts of BTC as it's price wen't down to around $14k-ish; and also at the current crash from $14k down to mid $8k. Though unfortunately I bought a significant amount at $12k so I currently can't purchase more. It's always important to not go all in on one trade on your purchases. Though I also used to trade, but not currently. I'm bad at timing markets at crashes with this magnitude.

I only buy PoS coins recently. This way you can make money not only due to price growth but due to actual interest as well.

All this under condition you choose a decent PoS coin.

I agree, i do day trade altcoins for a little extra income but my big investments are for the long hold. There is nothing wrong in day trading but if you want to really earn you need learn that this is not a sprint race but it is a marathon.

I know some people would say buy and hold is a boring strategy my reply to them always is boring is safe.

The best investment strategy is long-term hold.
Even if short-term losses don't matter, you have to believe that bitcoin has fallen so many times, yet again and again, that it has gone up a lot.

This is the best time to buy bitcoin as the prices are very low compared to higher prices it was few months back. I also see averaging the best method to get more and more positions and hold the prices for it to go long to higher prices it was in Dec 17. I will be waiting very eagerly to see the crypto to rise sharply and get us some profits in longer time frame.

if you really have time , fast trading is the best way
but if you didnt have time to check price at most of time , HODL is the best way i think

altcoins grow btc portfolio and also .. $$$ :)  .. why not make a research about some altcoins that could have a good potential in this year and could grow your bitcoin portfolio as well . just my 2 cents, cheers!

Since HODLING can get boring at times it’s nice to have a small amount set aside for trading that can be exciting. Even if it’s only $100, you think, that could have been $10K on that swing you just did. Every trade gets you a little more skilled and more comfortable with price actions.

I continue to buy coins for my cash, I sell tokens received in bounty campaigns and invest them in more promising coins. And I also continue to invest in ICO and participate in the bounty. All these actions constantly increase my deposit.

first decide if you want to start "trading" or just make some "investment" and if it is investment, is it for short term or long term.

many people don't  choose the trading or the short term trading because they are busy or don't like exchanges and how the exchanges scam their users a lot! so they choose long term investment. in which case you choose an investment that you think has a better future then you invest in it. for me it is bitcoin and I buy bitcoin with extra cash that I have and I don't care about short term ups and downs.

if it is trading then "holding my positions" is meaningless and a big mistake to make at times like this. you can dedicate a smaller part of your investment to trading too. it doesn't have to be one or the other. an when you are trading an see drops like this you should pull out so that you have money to put back in when price reached the bottom.

I buy a variety of coins, especially new ones, but only those that will be advised to me so as not to fall into a mess. I sell them when their price grows, and put the proceeds into bitcoin. Simply, uncomplicated, but effective.

I just keep investing my own money in bitcoin. I'm one of those people who invest in long, so I do not sell anything, if only because it's risky.

Firstly trade and hold enough of btc that can be invested in activities like mining which provides high rate of return but on a long term basis. Campaigns are quite good as well as you can earn a good amount of money in a short span.

I invest in coins when the market is in a drawdown. I think this is the most profitable option and therefore I always look forward to falling prices.

My strategy on increasing my bitcoin portfolio is quite simple, buy when the price is low and just hold. My goal is to accumulate as many Bitcoins as possible so I never sell, at least in the next five years. I believe that bitcoin’s value will continue to increase as time passes by. I never panic when price drops, in fact I take it as an opportunity to buy more BTC as the price is cheap.

i think the safest way to increase your BTC portfolio is through mining.
but mining only give you a little amount of profit.

This is the simplest strategy, but it works well. I also invest into Bitcoin a part of my salary monthly.  These days I  will invest into BTC more as the coin will be growing and the process will start in less than a month.

basically i just trade & hodl. Buying btc at its lowest value & selling it at its highest price possible. guess i go for longterm investment, well patience is a virtue.

The pros would advise you to dollar cost average down if you already own bitcoin and want more. You have to take emotion out of the equation if you plan on accumulating bitcoins. No one knows which way the cryptos will move and in a few years most will be gone as there are thousands now. Most of the ICOs will be gone too so don't hold their tokens long term, but you can trade them while they still have perceived value. ICOs only have white papers and not a prospectus because they are not bound my any rules whatsoever! They can take your money and run and no one can prosecute them. That is why many governments are banning ICOs. The governments are trying to protect their citizens who don't know any better and can easily become a victim of an ICO scam and lose all their money.

First, You need to learn . Hodling is not bad, Actually it is safe trading but if you learn how btc/alts works. You can get profits even the market was bearish. Learning before earning  ;)

Its very simple strategy. Just buy at dips and sell at high. In these days its very good strategy. because the bitcoin market is fluctuate rapidly. But the thing is who are collect there alt coins at higher price should hold until they reach good profit.

it is good that you are using these but they don't work for this world specially when you are trading altcoins. you need to drop the portfolio thing and stop bag holding altcoins. they are going to get dumped on you whether you like it or not since that is what altcoins do, they get pumped and you are happy for a while because you see your "portfolio" is rising, then they get dumped and you lose all you have made and then some more.

I will buy and collect bitcoin from now because the price will continue to rise, and look for future investment business opportunities

Generally speaking, I will choose a batch of tokens to purchase when the mood of market investors starts to drop.
And then hold it for about a month, and then sell them all, and that's my strategy.

I've got some nice amounts from telegram airdrops from ICO bounties and the amount is not that big but at least its increasing my btc portfolio. After I received it, I sell it quickly for btc.

There are a lot of ways to increase the number of bitcoins, the main thing is to be able to use them. I also trade, I also participate in interesting and promising ICO. This is exactly what we need to understand. Crypto market has just started its career and still 80% of the world population is not aware of the word “bitcoin” or you can term “digital currencies”. There is no need to give up on bitcoin just because of this hard dip. This is pretty normal in this crypto world for coins to decrease this much in values. I made good returns over the last few months primarily in Ether and LTC.  I took some of those returns and went in on a bunch of hotter/newer coins and lost my shirt over the past few weeks.  I wasn't planning on selling short term, so I wasn't going to sell if the coins went up or down, but now it looks like it's a long way up from the lows to get back even for me on my alt coin investment.  In hindsight, if I had just stayed primarily in Ether, I would've done much better.    I still have my other coins and I'm excited to see what they will do over the next few months.

I have a range of coins at the moment some are ICO coins and others I see as good appreciation possibilities during the next 12 months. Two of my coins will be paying me dividend in Bitcoin on profits so that can be stored straight away, others I wil lconvert into either Bitcoin or ETH once they have risen to my target values.

I am also taking part in Bounty campaigns to generate additional resources, seems logical as I am online each day anyway.

The oldest trick in the book is still the best. Buy low sell high, problem is people are afraid to buy when price is dipping and rushing when the price are rising.

Also sometimes i work for some coins just like joining a bounty.

Yeah you buy btc dips if you can, I like to invest in alts which the good ones tend to outperform btc. I also like to participate in ICOs of high quality infrastructure projects which tend to outperform even more, but they are much riskier and harder to pick.

I will consider buying some altcoin and investing in some ICO projects.

 I have neither used mining or daily trading but i only hold my bitcoin and sell when their is a big shoot up in the market.

A week ago it was very profitable to buy bitcoin for ethereum. For 1 ETH it was possible to buy 0.11 BTC. This is a very good price! I made good money on this deal.

My ideas of increasing my bitcoin portfolio is joining bounty campaign and doing an long term investment in my local exchanges wallet.by doing this two things i earn any kind of coins and my bitcoins in my wallet will grow a little even in a small amount of percentage,even  though i wait a long period of time,because we already know that digital currency is volatile we cannot predict when its the time to  pump or dump in the market,i never mind  its as long i earn regularly.

Buying potential alternate coins that are cheap price may help increase your BTC portfolio because the more different kind of alternate coins you have, the better is your portfolio and chances of increasing yor BTC.

I increase my Btc by joining signature campaigns but I am also studying web designing.

If you want to increase your bitcoin portfolio without risking your money is you have to join a signature campaign that pays bitcoin in their participants. Or you can try to convert your bitcoin to a potential altcoins like neo and monero, make a long term investments for portfolios and hodl :D

you must learn to deal with any deteriorating circumstances, sometimes not doing anything to prevent losses too deep. survive and be patient, knowledge and experience are part of it. so I guess you have to dig up a lot of knowledge about trading and market patterns.

If you are in loss then I suggest that you just HODL it. January is quite a blood bath for alts but based from historical trend they would bounce back eventually along with bitcoin. If you will sell at loss then it is still  your choice. but on my personal observation REKT alts would eventually go up again but the timings would be uncertain.
Still this is your decision to make.

Hi there saicoolguy, I always follow some basic step, purchase low, sell high. I have figured out how to purchase from the past plunge over 6k check and simply hold up again in showcase cost to begin to plunge and auction to pick up income. Something else that I do is through trading, I am a monthly trader, accordingly including isn't quick as the individuals who are informal investor. And the last one I did is mining, I own a small mining rig to be certain bitcoins will murmuring my wallet later on.

Basically, i build the portfolio only by buying when it dips and sell when it is at highest point or previous high.I like buying after the market correction majorly 20-30% which is huge volatility and thats where market gives another chance for buyers to get in and place some multiple positions. The other way is by participating in bounty programs also the btc portfolio increases as we encash the coins to btc , thats hard earned money as well.

Some people think that we pay taxes for Bitcoin and in fact it's just a small amount for translations and it's pretty normal at this time.

I see what you say is true. I'm doing the same thing now. And I use 30% of the money I have to invest in ICO projects when I get profit, I use those profits to invest in BTC, I do so to accumulate many BTC for me.

I am a long-term investor and I follow 2 rules:

Though you are supposed to show good patience but once bitcoin start increasing in value, there is no way altcoins will keep decreasing in value. The only way one should try to increase his hodlings is to purchase more bitcoins. And if someone is trying to increase his portfolio by trading than he is up for a rude awakening as trading isn't easy and most of the people end up losing their entire investments by trading. Also trading in a bull cycle is very easy, but trying to trade in a bear cycle is almost impossible.

In addition to trading, I am also receiving some payment for freelance services I provide. And I keep all this in my wallet and does not withdraw any of it.

I think this is very good advice. Crypto has a long way to go and so just HODL all you can. Campaigns take up a lot of time, but are a good way to start and you can use the BTC from a campaign, to kickstart a small trading position.

One year ago I mostly buy new coins. At present I try to earn more criptocurrency with bounty campaigns and trading sometimes.

In a bear market one should not try to trade his bitcoins as there is a chance that he might end up losing his BTC, as it is not easy to trade in a bear market while anyone can trade in a bull market and turn a profit. You should rather daily cost average by buying a fixed amount at regular intervals. This way you will keep on increasing your coins while averaging your buy price.

Well in order to increase my btc portfolio, I had an strategy of holding it until I reach my goal price and when it happen I'm starting to sell it. Next, I'll wait until the price will go down and after that I will buy it in all of my money or it is simply called as speculation.

All the cryptocurrencies are going down so trading won't make me more bitcoin so I think the only solution is to buy more just this.

If you are no good at trading or just want to grow your portfolio a different way, dollar cost averaging is a great way to go. Every week or month just buy a set amount of BTC at the current market price. In the long run you are likely to have better returns then betting on ALTs.

Most of the people here are also in loss since January after it started to crash.
I've seen people who are saving their btc's USD through this way and going to buy back when the price goes down. This is what I do, selling when it's on green and few of it are good for trading and buy when it goes down but most of my btc are in good long term holding and won't be touched.

I use to increase by bitcoin portfolio just like I am doing now. This is the time when the valuation of bitcoin is very low so I will buy more and more bitcoins at lower prices then I will hold them till the valuation inflation then I will sell them for increasing my bitcoin portfolio and I think this is the best way to invest into bitcoin. Some people get panicked by this valuation of bitcoin and assumes that bitcoin is about to end and sell their bitcoins in hurry but according to me this is the time to buy and hold bitcoins as maximum as you can.

Well, I have some friends who have lost their capital when the correction took place and they sold their funds under the fear of missing out the price levels. I'm adding whatever I manage to earn from my signature campaign to my holdings. I'm not buying BTC anymore because I got most of my money in it anyway. I basically got rid of all my fiat money so I'm forced to spend everything that I earn on my daily needs and hold the rest.
From time to time i'm investing a bit into altcoins and in time, if they go up, I'll switch back to BTC, mainly because it's much easier to spend it than even other mainstream coins like ETH.

Totally agree with you trading is the best strategy for doubling bitcoin but its risky at all hight if you are impatience so never invest all of your assets with it , try only 40-50% with waiting area around 1-2 years to gain at least 1 - 2 X profit .

Yes trading can be consider as the best way of making money, but still trading not so easy, it is a profession and if you want to adopt trading as your profession then you need to lean about trading first, after that you will also get some trading experience and must learn trading skill, only then you can become a good trader.

i dont still agree that trading is the best way of making money. how can it become the best if it is verry risky and seems hard to operate for just a normal individuals? for me investing is way much better than trading or any other risky activities, investing is also easy to learn and do even average person like me without a real knowledge about technical and financial stuffs can always execute it.

Its really hard to increase your bitcoin on such a market like today.
I prefer not go in any trades to increase my bitcoin position, i rather wait for the market to go bullish again.
Currently i see some opportunities to increase my bitcoin in fresh projects which just came on market after ico and made -x10 or even -x20.
Buying such tokens can significantly boost your bitcoin position, but this is also very dangerous if you have not so much knowledge about this industry.
I would suggest buying such altcoins not more than 10% from your deposit.

I always increase my portfolio, I do not intend to invest short, I do not intend to sell short, so I will not sell if the coin goes up or down, but now it looks like that is a long way from low to get back even for me to invest my alt coin.

Many option if we want to increasing our bitcoin portfolio, some peoples with trading skill, they increasing their bitcoin amount by trade it on market. Some peoples with large capital will doing averaging when price dipping.

To increase your bitcoin is simple just buy more bitcoin when the price is low, buy as many bitcoin as you can afford.
Or go for cloud mining go pay for a good plan where you can benefit, i advice make sure you know how to do profit calculation before buying a cloud mining plan, Good Luck.

Like most of community members says here, buying during dip is the best option and sell it when you think youve gained a decent profit. But as of now, BTC hasnt yet penetrated the 10K$ this year after its fall from its ATH. so i think it is better to just HODL it and enjoy life. if you have extra money for investments, just keep on investing, for sure it will give you a good return in the future

Well, if you have the money, buy on dips. If you have the money, patience and knowledge, go for trading, if you are like me, try to grab some good projects that are growing with good communities and good teams and get involved and invest before they start to raise the value.

Best idea is increasing bitcoin portfolio we need to divide our bitcoin in different strong altcoins and need to purchase in deep.and we need to hold for long term also use stop loss with every coin so u can make good profit and one more thing remember never invest all Ur money in one coin & never do much greed we can't make millionaire in one night.

At first we learned trading and so we grew our portfolio little by little. Sometimes we also lose as market tends to be bloody sometimes and also unlucky breaks. But if we get lucky we grow our portfolio little by little. And there is also bounties so you can add to your portfolio

I dont like investing in icos , probably because i do not have plenty money for that.

Everybody has a big loss on february.. no chance to increase crypto portofilio, but we can only hold it by converting our crypto to tether USD or fiat.

What do you mean so easy? how sure you are that the alts that you will going to buy will increase after? finding those potential coins are not easy at it is, you need to use longer time and study the market, even there's some updates coming from the dev team but with how crypto behaves there's still no assurance that the value will increase, sometimes it will fall more, if you want to increase your bitcoin you need to increase your knowledge first and try
to gain more from time to time.

Hello everybody. I'm not as advanced as many in this forum - I trade very little on the stock exchange. I consider simple storage on a cold purse as the safest and most promising. Sooner or later Bitcoin will be appreciated and the price will be appropriate. Personally, I, with any replenishment of my finances, spend 10% on Bitcoin, regardless of the value for today. This is not the most original way to replenish Bitcoin, but, I believe, the safest way, with the least loss of nerve cells and, most importantly, the capital of each of us - time.

It is very simple but very useful strategy for earning money. I am doing the same thing with the tokens that I get from Bounty campaigns and airdrops. It is really good to exchange them and hold ethereum.

Well nothing i guess. I'm the type who do nothing with my investment, and just let it be. I'm kinda too busy to do trading, that might help to increase my portofolio. But most of my coins' value are decreasing because the market condition is not good, or the coins are just so so that get the hype when it first launched and drop until now, with no sign of increasing. I sold most of my altcoins in the first few months of this year, I still hold some altcoins  and I have bought a few new also this year. But I'm 80-90% into bitcoins and here I will stay until we get back above 10-14k so it might be for a long time, before I go all in on altcoins again.

Bounty campaign is a good choice to increase your portfolio it takes time to complete one bounty because ICO took 2 to 3 months to finish but it's worth it, especially if the project is good and they actually had a platform where people can use it and they can create demand too.

And you have to choose good ICO, it will help you to earn more as well nowadays many users make fake ICO's to make a profit. So you have to always be careful and have to make an investigation into the project. Means you have to look up about the team or other aspects to identify the project is fake or real.

Im joining at any campaign even the wages is small better to have a more account than you have so you have an advantage to get some more BTC then make it advocate your self to joining on campaign then my second strategy is im not just focusing on that BTC such as im changing to other cryptop like on ETH etc and ofcourse guard the graph of BTC every hour so you may have a change to get more and more BTC.

I'm increasing my BTC portfolio by holding and selling with profit some of the altcoins that are doing well in the bear market.

Yes as of now I also lose some of my money. What Im doing now was nothing. I just wait and be more patient until the price of it increase again. Hopefully they will recover fast so that we can get back what we lose. Keep holding and I know it will be worth it in the end of this year.

I have no idea on how to increase my portfolio other than to continue to hodl my bitcoins. I do not want to engage in trading because I don’t always have time for this, so I prefer the old way - HODL.

Well, I have a day job so I place some spare change on buying some bitcoins to pool up my portfolio. I also participate in bounty campaigns and sell at least around 10% of the profits to bitcoins and pool them up as well. I usually buildup every end of the month or whenever I have made money from a bounty campaign.

I attended a lot of bounty campaigns with the aim of increasing the crypto portfolio and if needed I would pair it to BTC, besides that at this time I had started trading daily with discipline to achieve the 2% profit target and this made my crypto assets grow.

It is really hard to increase the portfolio value, because the price hasn't moving up and falling low. It has been falling low gradually without any sort of forward push. This doesn't let the portfolio to get rise through the trading practice of buying low and selling high. Some were lucky to get a big pumping on their investment unlike the price of bitcoin and ethereum.

when prices fall and the value of our assets also drops, it's better to hold, don't sell. because surely the price will rise again.

There is a very famous (and solved) Legend of Satoshi Nakamoto, but there are new ones: Neon District 15ETH puzzle, 310 BTC challenge (partly solved), pineapple prize. I think having information on coins is paramount for failing trading, while long hodling any coin should be support by what the coin road map is all about.
