Title: Why do we have a price drop?
Post by: natasha-lev on February 02, 2018, 10:05:54 PM
Do you have any ideas why do we have such a painful drop in prices? Any solid explanations?
I don't like when people say: "correction". It is a bit more than a simple correction.  Something should stay behind this.
I think about several factors:
- Korean regulations to create transparent market - many people like crypto to be private thing,
- usdt problems and subpoena,
- price drop of btc - it is not a king now and we need another stable coin to make purchases. Drop in btc fears people.

Other things like facebook advertising bans and bans of credit cards for buying crypto shouldn't have massive effect. But for me thiss correction lasts too long. Every next dip surprises me more and more.

unfortunately tether is a heavy ball for the entire crypto, you can not withdraw from it now. It must be said that the entire crypto currently stands at usdt, all major exchanges base their trade on it  ::) :-\ :-\

In addition to that bad news came from India. A minister in India made a press statement and he said that they will ban cryptocurrencies. But we dont know what is going to happen. The same thing happened in Korea and then they said they will do regulations. Because of weak hands Bitcoin price dropped dramatically. But there were also good news as well. I dont understand how market goes down that much.

I think the most recent and biggest drop is due Indian ban over crypto coins. Their finance minister announced total ban in all areas for all coins.
I hope that we will see a quick recover.

Governments and banks are not giving up without putting up a fight. A fight they could win with draconic enforcements. The prices you are seeing right now are result of the first moves by the governments and crypto investors doubting they can win the fight.

There's been a lot of issues lately that's probably why coins are under a major dip this month. I'm not so sure how it all started as I haven't researched thoroughly how it began but I read something about Tether and Bitfinex, then Indian and South Korean banning crypto the next and also Facebook banning all crypto related ads. Those are so far what I've read while browsing the forum for two days now. I really do hope, crypto currency would be able to stand this after a few days and rise up again.

Might be because of the INDIA fud last time, most of the people do panic selling while they should be doing that because the sources of the news are clearly from the paid websites, market manipulations is nothing new to the cryptocurrency market.Weak hands are the ones who are doing panic selling while the holders are mostly going to win at the end.

I think you are correct on all your points, but they are all FUD related and should end eventually since they have no fundamental basis to support them and keep the price down. I understand that tether is the worst one, and it could grow bigger if it is proven as a scam. I still think it's overrated, because most of the money that came into crypto was from real USD and not from USDT.

I don't think Facebook had any impact on the price, because it's actually a good thing, but it's hard to say. India government say they will fight illegal transactions with BTC, the news sell they will ban crypto, and we have another crash. People are crazy, and they make irrational decisions, so I don't really know how they reacted to Facebook news.

Storm of "negative" news like Tether, India and Facebook. Also the market was ripe for a correction. Happened before. Even bigger corrections. Instead of being fearful start searching for opportunities. Volatility is up. The new players not shy to go back to fiat but with a clear focus on reinvesting in crypto. The increased volatility will go both ways.

The market is too sensitive. It is reacting badly to very unimportant news - like totally fake news about ban of crypto in India (actually there were just some regulations announced - which is a good thing) and totally unimportant news about Facebook banning crypto ads (are there really people that are looking at and using those ads existing??) and finally.

Although the market is traditionally very sensitive to news and announcements, which is showing its immaturity, the news and announcements are only an inducement. A real cause is of a deep technical nature - the market rose significantly over last months and it was due for a correction. Since experienced investors are expecting it, they are reacting to signals, while inexperienced investors are bound to panic easily and it is all driving the market down.

However, this only means that coins/tokens are becoming cheap. Experienced investors will by again at the proper signals of stabilization, and when they drive the market upwards again, new investors will start joining again.

Definitely this is not correction anymore. I think the number one reason why this price has gone down more than it supposed to was the panic selling of so many people. The FUDs that are also spreading around is another reason. Well, on another note some countries such as India seems to be looking at Bitcoin with negative lens. But to be clear, Korea will not ban cryptocurrencies. That's a bit of a breather.

There are many bad news in January coming one after the other.
South Korea regulations, hacking of Nem in japan, India clamping down on illegal activities using bitcoin..

This overshadow news like Line getting into crypto and Samsung making mining chips.

The trend is that countries are trying very hard to regulate the crypto market and talking the market down. But major companies
are getting into the crypto world especially giants in Asia.

This price drop will continue for a while more as more and more countries come out with measures to regulate crypto. There will likely be more news about regulations during the G20 summit from 8th Feb to 13th Feb. So be ready for it.

But I opine that after the Chinese New year, we may start seeing lots of Asian players start buying up all these cheap cryptos. We are talking about Asian players with millions and billions to spend. Note that a lot of hedge funds with millions have been set up in recent months... they are eyeing the market carefully and will buy up all these cheap coins once the market settles.

Because some fud spreads a week ago,INDIA fud gave a lot of impact to these newbie investors and drives them to do panic selling, plus the total marketcap of cryptocurrency is still declining thats why BTC and alts are bleeding, but we must not panic because we can see some support levels on $8k levels of BTC,a hard support at $5k so theres nothing to worry about.

The growth or fall in price always depends on the situation on the market, which is harmonious
by its nature and always strives for balance. Emotional purchases have driven the cost of bitcoin to the sky, this is clearly visible on the technical chart. Therefore, balancing early or later should have come.

All that is necessary now is to wait patiently.
The active season will begin, the volume of trades will increase and everything will be balanced again

Probably because the INDIA fud gave a lot of panic to most of the bitcoin holders causing them to sell in panic plus the facebook restriction to ICO related advertisement made a lot of people to sell their bitcoins, probably the whale are the ones who are spearding fuds so they can purchase cheap coins from the bloodbath that they have created.

It must be the INDIA fud and the facebook restriction to ICO related advertisements, these two are the most commonly thing why people will start selling their bitcoins, and surely these people will do panic buying when the market starts to recover, whales and big players are the ones who are spreading fuds to  make some panic to the community but if you are thinking why would someone do that, its because they want to get coins for cheaper prices than its usual price.

That's not true. The finance minister told "Bitcoin is not a legal tender, we have experts working to understand the blockchain technology". Legal tender technically means, you can't buy anything using crypto, that's a crime. That doesnt mean "Crypto is banned". There are more number of exchanges and app based exchanges in India, and they charge GST while trading and withdrawing. Practically we are paying taxes, but for the govt. that's not enough. They are looking for ways to tax more. For this, they are forcing the banks to delay the transactions. Latest addition is, the media spreading false news such us yours "BANNED" to create panic and topple the market.

yah you right. many problem come out this year i don't why and what happen to bitcoin. but i think we should just stay in it and not do the wrong move.

from facebook, price down, korean thing. and anything else. it's like a chain incident that raises many questions. I do not know what's going on. but all this makes people panic and rash about the coins they have. and there are many questions about the future of bitcoin and altcoin.

maybe many issue like facebook just make bounty hunter sad about a campaign. but the price down so make depression. not just bitcoin, many altcoin fall to. maybe we just not do panic sale or leave the bitcoin maybe in few month bitcoin getting better and any altcoin getting price up.

Actually, we can see that in South Korea and Japan, the price of bitcoin has been the leader in other countries.
But on the contrary, now that the price of bitcoin in South Korea has dropped a lot compared to other countries, so the news affecting South Korea is the most important.

As you know bitcoin and altcoin is volatile and if you know that so you will not surprise with this anymore.
However, i will wait for the stable price and sell it when it recovers.

The korea fud,the india fud and the facebook restrictions from accepting paid advetisement to ICO related ads are the most reason why people are starting to do panic selling, this resulted some bloodbaths in the market but few people who are buying when the times like this has good mindset because they will make a lot of money when the market started to get recovered.

If you look at the graphs for 2015,2016, 2017, you will see that they are similar and what we are seeing is happening every year. But now the news of their different countries connected with the regulation of this market was not very good. I want to note that nothing extremely bad for bitcoin does not happen, then that the states began to try to regulate it is natural! Do not panic, everything will be fine, we have experienced more than one fall and we will survive it!

Unfortunately he is not buying that graph thing because all OP want is for the price to not go down, I really think he is frustrated about a certain issue about cryptocurency and I really think the solution for his problem will be his self, This is certainly normal that Cryptocurrency will sometimes dip and increase did he think the market of fiat currency does react in the same situation? Because even fiat money sometimes increase or decrease at a certain point that there are negative or positive issues involving them, That is how the market works and Cryptocurrency on the other hand is fluctuating so much that is why it is our call if were gonna quit investing in it if we are always complaining about it.

Market correction is just trading jargon, don't make any issue about that. It is usually happen during extra ordinary bullish days just like what happen to crypto last December where the price of BTC reach to 19k territory. Normal reaction also if the price reach to resistance level is to go back to support level. The drastic fall of price was also triggered by multiple bads news coming from Korea regulation, India ,US subpoena, Facebook and Instagram ads ban, Chinese Lunar New Year Etc.

The most recent drop in altcoins just like Ripple is mainly due to Moneygram's clarification that they are strictly using altcoin for their pilot platform. Other coin such as Altcoin IOTA which also had a bad fall after clearing up that Microsoft was not officially their partner but rather a player in their market place. Lastly, the Raiblocks altcoin which had also experience a bad fall due to recent reports of a compromised web wallet for altcoin which has been taken offline.

The market of crypto-currencies is venture capital. If problems begin - then money will away first from this market.
I think that the problems have already begun, look at the charts of bond markets -

I just don't understand why it is so big deal if the market crash because this kind of crash happened every year. If you invest in a long term, it will not affect you so much. The only affected here are the newbies that buy in an all time high last year and it is just a paper loss because we all know that the market will bounce back any moment this February.

Based on what I see, there are many factors that affects the price of alternate coins and bitcoin. The main factor is the moves of major countries like Japan, South Korea, China and India. They are thinking to ban cryptocurrencies in their countries that's why many people are thinking that the price will drop. Once a decline in price happened because of the news, many people will sell their bitcoin and few people will buy. So the result will be more decline in price. Same with law of supply and demand. But I think that this will be temporary because many people are abusing the instability of the price of coin. Once cryptocurrency is accepted worldwide and the we can use it to buy in many stores. The price will go up again and become stable.

Cyrptocurrency is intensively pushed down, it's obvious and clear. Governments and bank are starting to make some moves against cryptocurrency. And this is all because of money, they are afraid that if the crypto trends will continue and companies will support crypto banks will be having a hard time.

I just don't understand why it is so big deal if the market crash because this kind of crash happened every year. If you invest in a long term, it will not affect you so much. The only affected here are the newbies that buy in an all time high last year and it is just a paper loss because we all know that the market will bounce back any moment this February.
Long-term holdings will not be affected by the downturn, the only ones affected will be those who bought at $ 15000, and I think those who know that bitcoin is soaring before buying should be prepared to withstand the downside psychological readiness.

Price drop is normal especially in business because there are many competitors that trade/sale there products in low prices.

To be frank, I have no idea why prices have fallen right now. After all, today morning the price of bitcoin broke through the mark of $ 10.000 why the price fell again I can not know. Maybe all the same Chinese New Year?

In fact, I am curious about a question: why does the fall need a reason?
Most of the time, when the bull market is over, and most of people starts to cash in, it is a bear market, and the lack of market funds naturally leads to a fall.

Because many began to derive from the high price, it's obvious! And others started to withdraw, because they saw a sharp drop in value. And it turned out a snowball.

Fears created the change, no matter what banning is lifted if the holders of the coins persisted in holding it and keeping it, it could not have a very bad impact in its value. And because too many have done panic selling of coins in the fear that the equivalent value of their money in the real world could be lost forever, a great impact in the value of the digital coins is observed, dropping it down beyond the average to the bottom. And its not good.

There is always someone would like to get some profits out of the market. That is, trading will never stop, leading to constant price fluctuations.

Analyzing post on current ideas i do not agree with the market downfall, because many amateur investors enter the high and for lack of knowledge, sells in downfall, this is amateurism, but the marketing of Bitcoin is so great that many people's eyes shine, where they risk investment, i believe this may be bad for Bitcoin's future with traumatized people. However the fall should be in small percentages but this does not happen, out of nowhere the drop can be 35% is discouraging. This is the point of view that i wanted to highlight.

Correction equal when people finally realize what they really invested in and run away as they finally realize it is the most correct move.

It's just the law of economycs, there are sometimes cycles of uptrend, and sometimes cycles of downtrend.
The important thing is that long-term the tendency is an uptrend one.

Everything is elementary simple: large players decided to buy bitcoin at a low price, so the market collapsed. They did it. Soon to be "ToTheMoon"...  :D

Thank God you didnt believe in that correction sh1t. Something corrected in thousands of dollars? I say that is BS.

It is a dump. Some group of whales might be the culprit of this. It could also be a panic from small investors which could also equal into a group of whales.
That is all the reason that I could have.
The market of bitcoin is just the same as the market of others although the difference is not much support is coming from it.

Most of the time it's hard to say why the price has fallen so catastrophically, there seems to be nothing like that, but the drop is observed.

In a trade, prices go up. That is a natural thing when the price drops drastically or rises dramatically. But any price down will surely be the mimic where the price will rise and continue to rise

The recent price drop is due to following reasons.
1.Ban news from China
2.Ban news from South Korea
3.US in pursuance of regulating Cryptocurrencies
4.Ban of Crypto ads by facebook
5.Many Investors withdrew their investment when they were at higher side of their return.
6.Big Whales who are 31% of Crypto market manipulating with prices,so that at lower prices they may purchase again to get more rewards.

As per my comprehension circulation of these news also affected price of Cryptocurrencies. But now the prices are increasing and are stable to an extent like BTC,ETH,ALT,BCS,RIP etc.

Price drops occurs from time to time as Bitcoin's price value doesn't really into pumping higher on the early months of the year so then altcoins are also volatile like Bitcoin.
After the mega dip from last week of January until first week of this month, seems this week is yet another approach of dip but for some holders, this is just normal because this Crypto Market is volatile and this would be supposed to happen every now and then.
We have no other option we can do but to hold our Crypto Assets because we would lose money if we are going to sell them out of panic.

It's normal these days that there will be Crypto Market droppings in every FUDs and international market news and that's why the Crypto Market hurts badly because people suddenly sell their assets without even knowing that those news and articles are true and then some investors will follow.
But anyways, this kind of even do offers big chances to some traders because they are going to buy more of their favorite coins and wait for the market recovers.

As far as what I observe, this volatility is related to a variety of reasons, preceded by news related to governments that will introduce legislation to regulate the crypto market and consequently Psychological effects from the crowd have made the market fall. There are too many reasons to say here, but I know for sure that the market is back.

I think there're a few reasons and all of them have a greater or lesser impact on the market of cryptocurrency.
- Chinese authorities
- Bitcoin futures
- Chinese New Year
- Disappointment from the news

Market economy develop cyclically. Additionally the cryptocurrency market is not an exception. We have seen a lot of times rises and falls of cryptocurrencies prices. So don't be worried. After the drop we'll see new growth.

Lately, there have been many problems, therefore, probably this month the coins are under serious failure. I'm not sure how it all began, since I did not carefully study how it started, but I read something about Tether and Bitfinex, and then about the prohibition of cryptography in India and South Korea, and also about the prohibition of all associated with cryptographic ads Facebook. This is what I read while browsing the forum for two days.

So, do you mean, the main cause of failing price mostly come from FUD news?
If so, well I agree with you. Recently,  I reducing my habit to read any news source which not trustable.
