We might see a recovery happening right now but I think untill summer.

End of february will be the end of the crash and end of march will be the end of consolidation, after that market may think of rising again. It will not be so fast.

I think things will start picking up by summer as well, but changes in the stock market could affect this timeline.

The dip at the point is pretty much over.  There is no way the total market cap will go below 300billion.

Looks like the dip is over for now. The market will stabilize bit by bit. But permanent grow will not start before the end of February in my opinion.

Chinese New Year? End of February? March to fully stabilize?

Unfortunately, no one can say for certain how this bearish trend will last. It may continue for quite some time now because of a lot of negatives surrounding the ecosystem. During the Mt. Gox hack, if my memory serves me right, it took quite long because we see the price bounce back. But the likelihood of bitcoin recovering is 100%, its that there's so much FUD plus the government relentless regulations putting too much pressure on investors to pour and flock the market once again.

They say that after the Chinese Lunar New Year, they(Chinese) will go enter the picture again because they have to make money at this point. But this remains to be seen. I really do hope that by mid February we should be on our way to recovery. Let's see how it goes though.

No one can predict the exact duration for the recovery. But it will take lot of time to gain back the trust of the panicked investors who invested when the price was damn high and then lost their money. There is a need of some positive news regarding bitcoins, it may give some courage to the new investors or else the situation will be same for several months.

I think we'll see some stabilization after the Chinese new year or at least after this month. Permanent grow will indeed take more time though.

The big question is whether we have seen the bottom yet..

Early speculation told us that we would see both 4k and 40k bitcoin in 2018, both of which have yet to happen.

We will probably need a month or so before people get the courage to buy again.

I think we are seeing the good news after long time and the crypto has already started its fuel up to go to the moon. Just check the CMC and you will notice that all the crypto currencies are going towards the green zone already. The bitcoin is up by almost 5% after the huge loss of 50-70% since the over one week but now it is in positive side of the crypto which means that there is no way we gonna see the bloodbath again. I think this trend is for sure strictly in the upwards direction and we should take advantage of the bitcoin leap and buy more if got the chance. There is however no such thing as stabilising in the bitcoin because they will be always volatile however it can get good market cap soon. So be ready.

I'm not sure about your 3rd point. I think some people have already started buying low. And for now anyway, most coins are starting to climb up.

I think kt will last until march to make things aa bit stabilez or not as this volatile. Continue holding to make the demand high. Cryptos' market value are showing signs of positvity. So it also means that we just have to wait for a little further. Once the price of cryptos have already fully recovered, huge profit will be earned.

Not earlier than the US and European fund markets will recover, only after that investors will calm down and they will again invest their venture capital in crypto-currencies.

Maybe after the celebration of Chinese New Year???Is China has something to do in affecting bitcoin price? All I know is bitcoin is unpredictable and will keep fluctuating. No one can figure out when will it end, as foe now all we can do is wait and invest if we can. The market will surely recover but has no definite time when. Neither China nor India will ever dictate the value of bitcoin in the future.

Anyway, today I read very nice price model (https://github.com/xoelop/Misc/blob/master/Bitcoin%20Price%20Simulation%202018.ipynb) with Monte-Carlo method that results in 55530$ per btc till the end of 2018 :)

I think it will stabilize in the coming weeks until end of Q1, there will be always up and down´s but I think not like now for the rest of the year.

When people believe it will go back up, I think there is to many new people that come and panic to easy. If my portfolio goes down like that
I wait for it to go up and then will probably still hold onto it.

I think the dip will end really soon, like after 2-3 more weeks. Right now we can see the value of bitcoin increasing after it dropped earlier today( according to IST). It might drop a little but again/keep going up, but it depends on the people who are investing/panic selling. I think till March, it would have surely becomd stable and might start going up steadily. There might be a few delays but it should recover around that time.

Some hope that yesterday's bitcoin rate of about 6,000 dollars was the price bottom of bitcoin, today it has already exceeded 7,000 dollars and will continue to grow in price. Perhaps this will not happen yet and he will float for some time on the price waves. However, in any case, the beginning of March should be the limit after which bitcoin in any case should already be raised.

This is really not getting funny any more. The fall rate has been drastical. But, I'm sure we'll see a positive change come March. It  can't be continuing like this, Definitely not. There are always ups and downs. So, things will change. It's just a matter of time.

Yes no one could actually say when this actually stop. But hopefully it happen soon because many holder and investors are already loosingbthere money because of the fall down in bitcoin.  Almost 70%of its previous price fall, its very alarming for every one but they are still hoping that bitcoin will surpass this struggle.

I think it will be at the end of this month. We are now seeing some positivities at this moment. Some cryptos are now having green markes in the market so maybe it will now start to recover. Holding and investing will be neccesary at this moment so that the invwstmwnt and holdings will go along with the recovery and profit will then be earned.

Actually it'll be hard to predict since there are negative rumors spreading throughout the altcoin community including bitcoin itself. They may say so that it will be towards Chinese New year but we cannot assure of that. But I personally is faithful that it'll be end this March since as I can see there other coins are back to green level already which means it is starting to grow again and the value is smoothly increasing

I would like to see this failure sooner. However, it can continue until about the end of February, early March. Part of this is attributed to the Chinese New Year, although after there were recently announced a full tightening of measures in relation to the crypto currency, the cryptomaniacs will not be in for fun.

Forgive my ignorance, but was there a particular reason people in this thread used Chinese New Year on 2/16 as a benchmark for something to potentially change or was that just a random date/event thrown out there. Is something BTC/altcoin supposed to happen then?

Most of the chinese big players surely cashed out from cryprocurrency because of the chinese new year they need it for their holiday season, thats is one of the reason.Another thing is FUD that has spread from last week,INDIA,KOREA,and facebook restricion added some panic to most of the people that resulted the bloodbath.People should know this is exactly how these manipulators wanted us to do,sell in panic so they can make a good entry in the market.Stop all the FUDs and im sure the marker will stabilize once again bringing bitcoin's price to $10k+ levels again.

You can check my posts, I predicted these prices when BTC and ETH were a lot higher,  so I expect a small raise in next 7days and then we will be fluctuating in a range of 6000-8000 for BTC till the end of February. Big whales cashed out before Chinese New year,  so afterwards they have to accumulate positions and in the mid March -  April we will see a return to previous level

I really advice to hold on till march to see if the market will rise for a good amount, just be patient and bear with us all!  :)

No one knows and I will not bother waiting for it.

It will just give people more questions. If they have fully understand what they are doing, they can invest right away without hesitation. Chinese New Year, February, End of March etc. all of it can be reference but no one knows when is the exact time. Rather than to think the unanswerable question, just make some hoop while the majority of altcoin price is considered as cheap.

Despite the fact that some analysts continue to frighten newcomers and tell that it can become a protracted drop of bitcoin I believe that growth will begin in a few months. Interest to the crypto currency is increasing and this will cause a rise in popularity and the price of crypto.

Thats right, new investors cant stand the not so good news circulating around bitcoin and so they want to be safe and panic selling their coins. No one exactly knows when will this dips going to stop but I think we can see changes by the end of this month. Currently in CMC we can see that they are in green again so I guess this can be a good sign for us investors who are waiting for the price increase.

Chinese New Year? End of February? March to fully stabilize?

I think that the dip is over after the good news today from SEC. But the recovering will take time, like 3-6 months.

The market will surely have a hard time of recovering to the dip and for me, this recovery would last until the mids of March or until summer. But I hope this dip won't last long. Let's just buy the best coins for a low price now and hold until the market recovers.

We might see a recovery happening right now but I think untill summer.

I think this will only be take up until the end of february. As what other people or we must say the one who has an experience more in the cryptocurrency world have been predicting that this may be last until the end of february and hopefully that will be the right time for it to stop the dip. But as we can also see values in the cryptocurrency world are now recovering bit by bit.

Yeah, it will take more time to fully recover so if you have the money right now, you'd better buy more coins because greens days are about to come. If the dump continues to happen, I think many investor will finally come in and the pump will start again, this is just a cycle don't be scared about the this dump.

yes I hope so, investors will come back for investment in crypto currency after the end of february this year, and the value of the crypto currency will rise again, the incident is the same graph as one year ago

This will continue until the bigplayers such as whales and financial institutions like CME & Wallstreet has already done buying a lot of bitcoins in cheap prices. These people are the ones who started FUD spreading to manipulate people's mind to trigger them to do panic selling which will result to bloodbaths, then if the market has crashed they will buy a lot of bitcoins and some altcoons in cheapest price as possible then they will take profits from the peaks, repeat the cycle and this is how the market manipulations works.

We do not know when the dip will continue , there is no exact day or time it will be. Since the last year it is like this in the early year of 2017 , and now its happening again. Maybe it will recover sooner or later this coming months , the dip is only temporary . When bitcoin is going down , the altcoins will also going down in their value.

As of now bitcoin is recovered its value to almost 8,000 USD today from 6,000 USD yesterday. Hopefully this recovery of bitcoin price will continue constantly and hoping this succeeding months the value of bitcoin will stabilize at the higher price like before.

Well, it seems almost all coins have started recovering, but we cant tell whether this recovery will be sustained or it will fall again. We just hope that even if it doesnt rise significantly,it should just recover slowly and never drop again. ;D ;D
I hope so. I heard that some governments are beginning to coordinate how to regulate bitcoin rather than by prohibition. because they already realize that cryptocurrency can not be stop. hopefully this is a good thing for the market can re-recover. hopefully the strengthening of this cryptocurrency market can continue. maybe end of february we can see the result

Market will stabilize and start rising on the mid-April or First week of May. It will gradually recover from the dip and will have again an excess rise in price at the end of the year. Just the almost the same graph from 2015-2017.

No one can say for sure, but things seem to be looking up now.  Those who invested at a high price will need to build up their trust again also all the recent negative news doesn't help either.  All in all, things will move back up, just a matter of when and it looks like that is starting to happen.

Im pretty positive that it will stabilize after the chinese new year. This is not new to the cryptoworld. The chinese withdrew their investments so they will have money for the new year. There are many chinese investors so this is expected that the price goes down. After that the new year they will put back their money in and we will all become happy as the price sky rocket back to 19,000.

It is known that there are business organizations and countries that stopped accepting bitcoins or cryptocurrencies which lead to the downfall in its price.  However, I think these institutions will later think twice since we live in a digital world that needs digital currency.  The fall of the price in bitcoin is just equivalent to the first month of the last quarter of last year and will dip a little more but will start to climb in the first month of the second quarter of this year.  Take note too that bitcoin circulation must not be more than 21 million and it has at the moment reach 17 million.  Taking into account the law on supply and demand, it is not possible that bitcoin price will climb again in the near future.

I'm thinking more towards the end of February, But it's starting to look good now. I just don't know if we're out of the woods yet with this whole China ban going on. But i do believe that we got some good news from the U.S. today! Although they may really not have our best interest in mind, it's definitely better than any kind of FUD that has been killing the market lately. And if America is on board than other nations may follow that course as well, seeing it as more of a business opportunity rather than a threat!

I think it will be just the end of february, the best thing to do right now is to invest all your capital because after the market goes back to normal you will earn a lot of profit since the value of all cryptocurrency today is very low.

It will not last long as many investors are already poise to buy because of cheaper coins in the market today. Bitcoin will likely rebound in the next few days barring some unexpected events that may bring back its price to another low. As of this moment, almost all cryptocurrencies in the coinmarketcap are in green indicating that market is again in a positive territory.

If following the same trend last year then this assessment can be right, it will keep on bouncing little by little and its good to accumulate more coins and
let them kept inside your wallet, timing like this would give a high chance to grow your money after some months or best to keep until the last quarter,
bitcoin holders should learn how to understand and analyze the flow knowing when to buy the news and take the advantage is very important, just wait
and go with the flow.

I think that the crash is already over even if there is another drop, there is already a support and it is not easier for the dumper to drop it to $5000. I think the investors realize that there is no point in selling their bitcoin because it is just a paper loss.

And I'm thinking that this is a change of trend. Further lower the price of bitcoin is already dangerous. If the fall continues, many may be disappointed in bitcoin and the market will have to recover for a very long time. And this is not beneficial to anyone.

Cryptocurrency markets are starting to slowly inch back upwards after a huge dip. The price of Bitcoin has reached a low of $6000 but as the weekend approaches the price has regained strength hovering around $9,000. Seems that the market has started to recover and was just a panic dump due to which new investors are highly benefitted. Bitcoin has a long survival, so those who sell it at a loss are the biggest losers.

but in general, if people will continue to watch the full drop in the price of Bitcoin, then the coin will be unambiguously added to the stock exchange. Although, honestly, I can be wrong, but there could be artificial manipulations for the price drop.

It will soon be over. The failure is caused by the fact that people saw a slight drop in price and began selling coins. This will lead to the fact that, due to the low price, the coins will start buying heavily. This stabilizes the situation.
