One thing that goes with Singapore is that is a Information Technology hub for the in the last decades or more. So they are really inclined to adopt new technologies such as crypto. So they are going to attract entrepreneurs to make Singapore as their home based if indeed they are going to stay on embracing cryptos. And maybe we will see that they will become behind Japan as one of the prime movers. I would like to see them give incentives to ICO companies as well. Similar to what Belarus did, 5 years tax free, thus becoming a blockchain and crypto hub country.

Although the Singapore government has no problem with crypto business, the banks will not allow to open bank account for ICO startups. Besides, almost all the banks are not allowing crypto businesses to create account and make transactions. I think after the G20 summit when all the superpowers sit and decide on the global regulatory structure of ICO & cryptocurrency all of these uncertainties should come to an end.

I read the articles and based from my understanding, Singapore has yet to ban cryptocurrencies since they believe that it does not pose a threat to financial conditions at the moment. Though this may be conditional upon the cases against cryptos, as of the moment they see it as something that can be beneficial to the society while accepting the risks of it (i.e. losing all of your investments due to carelessness or due to being too confident).

This is definitely a good start to begin with considering that Singapore, a highly developed country, begins to view cryptocurrencies as something that bring no harm YET. Like you mentioned, Singapore is an influential country in Asia together with Japan and they may break the stigma of cryptocurrencies as a threat to the government and to the country. Though we cannot hide ourselves from the fact that the transactions are indeed anonymous, personally I believe that the advantages that it brings outweighs the disadvantages and implications.

True, they don't see cryptocurrency as a threat to their economy so when there are news like ban in bitcoin everyone should do their own research.

When it comes to this type of news that a country "will not ban" crypto, there's a very small impact to the price.

But when a news comes out and says "Wolf of the mountain says bitcoin is fraud.... etc" bitcoin is plummeting.

It is good for them because as what i have read before some of their restaurant are accepting Bitcoin as a payment and suddenly they have to ban it but thankfully they did not. It might be a big loss for some of business owners out there, and probably those who goes to their restaurant are pure crypto-enthusiasts.

As what you mentioned it is ended a good place for cryptos.although virtual money is not possible that government can control over it but still the can control people who are participating here specially the exchanges. I believe that Singapore and Japan will lead the whole world to change it from traditional currency into a new kind which is more advance and highly recommended for making people to become convenient.

Good to hear countries embracing the benefits of blockchain technology but I believe China's ban of bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies is just a rumor and sounds so manipulative to me. I don't think countries like China will ignore the benefit of blockchain technology, as what the recent news says they are very much interested to it and willing to work with other countries to develop a good blockchain project.

Even though I haven’t verified, I believe the ban would be something that China would likely do. China has already banned Google and you would need to use a VPN in order to access it. Their internet is very filtered and censored so it goes to show how controlling their administration it. I don't see China as a country that is open to foreign and unfamiliar things and although that blockchain technology should benefit them, I think that they would rather not deal with it since it may pose some 'threat' to their country as they have little to no control over it.

What is clear is that some countries are taking advantage in the crypto market. There is a lot of money in crypto and a lot of business to be done, if some countries ban cryptos there is more market for others.

Apart from that, I read in a local forum that some people from my country go to Singapure to exchange bitcoin for cash. I don’t know to what extent that is true but it has to be worth it to pay for the trip and also I think you can’t come back with more than 10.000€ through the customs.

There is a possibility that Singapore will follow what Japan has done in legalizing bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. But it might also impose some kind of regulations on any exchanges operating inside the country. Almost all asian countries have the tendency to control every business that operating inside their territory. They may not against the cryptocurrencies but they want to control it.

As long as a big market as singapore will not ban trading of cryptocurrency it should be, regulations are created just to protect the investment of the people under their jurisdiction. I think government don't want to control cryptocurrency but rather fight those people taking advantage what hype crypto already made these days.

Far from happening. Governments will always try to attempt to take over control - even over things that involve technology such as crypto and bitcoin. It’s good that countries are now adopting but I think what would come next after this are a bunch of regulations. Just now, countries are already attempting to have some control on the matter such as the bans made by China.

This is a good proof on how Fake News can spread so fast in the cryptocurrency community. That is why I don't believe on something first if the news came from an unreliable site. But reading news that came from reuters confirms Bitcoin is legal in Singapore. It took as a long time to confirm something that is fake and it cost a lot of loss to traders. We should practice caution when it comes to what news to believe or not as we shouldn't be affected in the first place so that our decisions won't be affected by it.

This is to hoping that other countries would follow Singapore's lead in being open to change and advancement. Showing the world how Bitcoin can improve a country's current state, may it be in the economical aspect, is a big step towards Bitcoin adoption.

Its good to hear news like this one. Id rather choose to open a thread like this rather than those post pertaining to countries who ban bitcoin. We should more focus on the positive side so it will become reciprocal. There are a lot portion in this world in favor of bitcoin than not. Let us all hope that leaders on that country will saw the progress in Singapore ,Japan and others and withdraw their decision. Cryptocurrency for all.

I just believe that in some other countries in Asia will really consider the crypto currency as well as deepening blockchain technology to be acceptable and well responded to. And I'm still believe that the crypto will be more directed towards a more positively and can be support to the advance of the country also the country that's can acceptance of the crypto., would be highly regarded in front of other countries.

But about that, it will either lead on it or not., I just try to ensure a something that I really expecting it. ::)

Can you please post the link here
Basically when there are news like this I'm googling it alone to verify if there's a real news behind it and these are the few articles that I found.

Singapore Confirms It Will Not ‘Ban’ Cryptocurrency, Has No ‘Risk Concerns’ (https://cointelegraph.com/news/singapore-confirms-it-will-not-ban-cryptocurrency-has-no-risk-concerns)

Singapore says no strong case to ban cryptocurrency trading (https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-singapore-cryptocurrency/singapore-says-no-strong-case-to-ban-cryptocurrency-trading-idUSKBN1FQ06Z)

So therefore it is true that they will 100% to adopt and legalize Bitcoin and other digital currencies, this is a brilliant move in order to enjoy the every opportunity that Bitcoin can give to the country. For me, I can't see the reason why some countries are afraid of Bitcoin to exist to think there is regulation to take care of everything so that Bitcoin will be use safely. Maybe the other countries are so blind to see the difference between investments or they are just blinded by their pride and patriotism.

Singapore's Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said the country's government will "not ban" cryptocurrency.
In Asia, Japan and Singapore are the best markets for cryptocurrency and blockchain in recent years. In China, Vietnam, Indonesia banned bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market, Singapore was very active in developing Blockchain and cryptocurrency markets.

Good for them. Singapore is one of the richest and fastest growing economies of Asia. And it will be retarded for them to ban crypto-currency and other new technology. I am glad that they have realized this. May be now they will witness an inflow of Chinese Bitcoin users to their country.

What do you mean rapid economic progress? Singapore is already on top in Asia way ahead of its neighbors and are now at the feet of superpowers Japan, China and South Korea. So it will be really welcoming to the region if Singapore will joined the boat as well.

And with its young population and pure IT centric companies around, tapping crypto's and blockchain will be another step towards Singapore legitimizing itself as of the IT hubs not just in Asia but in the world. And again, I wouldn't be really surprised by all of this news about Singapore at least they have good leaders who truly look upon the future and will do anything that will contribute to make their country one of the superpowers in Asia.

Singapore has highlighted itself as a permissive environment for both against cryptocurrency and Blockchain innovation over the past few years. In contrast to China and Indonesia, the city of the city has been fond of Blockchain in particular as part of its drive to become a global technology hub.

Addressing the differences between Singapore and its neighbors, the volume involved is relatively small and exposed to the insignificant financial system.

Cryptocurrency is very much alive in the whole of Asia and even if China had already decided to close its door to this new industry we all know that still many Chinese are into cryptocurrency and those who really have the money can easily go to Hong Kong to continue doing business. In smaller countries but economically strong countries like South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan there is a booming market for cryptos and many people are already participating into this new economy. In the Philippines, the movement is gaining some traction because the government has an open-minded stance on cryptocurrency. Since Singapore as well as Hong Kong are predominantly trading countries, the environment is very much conducive for cryptocurrency. I see a great future for cryptocurrency in Asia even if we have to crash out China for good.

The Singapore government has not been regulating the transactions of digital currencies, so the central bank statement seems to confirm that although it is not regulated but the transaction usage in Bitcoin in neighbor country is fine.

This is a smart move for Singapore, not being too carried away by the banning trend as they can see a huge economical potential with Bitcoin and the blockchain technology. Most of the countries who agreed to ban Bitcoin has one common reason , to avoid money laundering and the potential criminal activities.

Singapore hasn't actually embraced anything. On top of that, they don't come even close to what Japan has been doing on all legal grounds concerning crypto. As long as Singapore doesn't actually come over similarly to what Japan did last year, I'm not really putting any faith into the situation there. The problem is that you can't just assume anything when it comes to countries looking open minded right now, but still lack the regulatory framework to sustain crypto in more ways than one. On top of that, not even China has actually banned crypto currencies -- they just got rid of everything around it so people have no legal way to enter or exit the market. It's a smart way of achieving what they want, but without making a fool of themselves because you can't ban crypto itself, so they don't.

There is another way of looking in to it. Singapore and Japan are two nations, where the tax evasion rates are extremely low. And the national currencies are also quite strong and they don't face much competition from Bitcoin. The same can't be said about the developing nations such as India, China, Indonesia, Pakistan.etc.

Bitcoin in the majority of the countries in Asia are still not allowed and they also banned exchanges operating in their area. After Japan, some countries like south korea are still struggling on its cryptocurrency exchanges, and Philippines is planning to create some rules for the virtual coins.

Of course it will impact on bitcoin value and AFAIK , singapore also have great demand on bitcoin so it's possible that they will develop their own coin to adapt the technology that seems fit in this digital era.
All can we do is wait and for me, I just hold it
Holding is the best thing that you ever do when it comes to decision making because it requires a strong determination and a strong willpower. As for Singapore, I really am amazed. I really hope they continue to follow their noble cause and stick to what they are aspiring because accepting a cryptocurrency is something that is too rare to do. That is why I respect these people and I support them till the very end.

Singapore is a very good country in implementing new things and the people in the country are ready to accept the changes that made by government. Like that many countries now banned cryptocurrency, in this situation Singapore government boldly announced that they would open the doors for cryptocurrency. Singapore country is very much interested in blockchain technology. So singapore will not ban cryptocurrency instead of that it will  accept and create more features in blockchain technology.

Today, many countries are banning the use of bitcoins or other digital currencies. but they do not forbid to have digital currency. this is due to the difficulty of controlling bitcoin users or other digital currencies because it is very vulnerable to criminal or legal use. but with the bitcoin being legalized in Singapore, bringing good news to bitcoin users and will increase the selling value of digital currencies.

Each country should not ban cryptocurrency, instead of banning it they should learn how to deal with it because cryptocurency will be unstoppable in this era. We are now living in a world that makes everyone of us feel better thru online, instead of banning it they should learn how to regulate it.

I think that is a good news because it will greatly help the market. I really think that being active in blockchain development really helps a country economy to develop. Some countries who started business using cryptocurrency and blockchain technology even gathers some foreign investors which can really be a big help in a certain country's economy.

This is a great development but still it did not help the market to grow so i think we need more countries to do the same that should welcome crypto currencies investment and regulate it so that the real demand of Bitcoin will increase. Anyway, this is still a great news which is will favor the Bitcoin than spreading FUD in which it will just make the current market performance to become worst since the ultimate dip.

Good thing that there are still a lot of countries who have a positive outlook and embracing the cryptocurrency.there are countries who give support and believe in cryptocurrency. a continued support will make the BTC industry even more progressive.

It also lead me to believed that Singapore will not be hostile towards crypto because there are ICO companies based on Singapore and when I scan icobench or icomark, I was surprised to see project headquarters on Singapore. They might have tougher laws on crypto but it doesn't mean that they are going to ban. And on October 26, they will be hosting Crypto Expo Asia. So they are really open and possibility wanted to attract ICO companies to established there so that they will become another crypto hub in Asia.

Singapore is one of the countries who accepted bitcoin and developed.

Singapore along with Japan and Switzerland are economic leaders and I think they know what they are doing supporting the blockchain. They can be set as an example. And other countries would like to learn something from them. You will see, in the near future they will show even higher results.Maybe then other countries will understand that they have chosen the wrong policy and still support blockchain technology.

I can definitely say it is a relief to have your airdrops platform headquartered in Singapore at a time like this.

One clarification: the Monetary Authority of Singapore singled out utility tokens as being except from regulations.

They DID NOT say that non-utility tokens will get off scot-free. The article indicates there may soon be a law on those.

Singaporeans are very well aware of the potential that exists in Crypto as the government facilitates bitcoin users, the effect is also the first big effect, the easier it is for entrepreneurs to do business in Singapore. The second effect is the increasing number of tourists who enter them. flowing the wheels of the economy with the number of business actors and foreign exchange coming in more and more causing the country's economy to go up.

I think all countries in Asia are also developing with technological progress. does anyone limit themselves to that? Let's think about China? we all know technology in this country is growing very fast.
but, to legalize or not ban cryptocurrency something different. there are regulations that must be regulated, and still do not interfere with existing financial regulations.
