Title: MyEtherWallet changing to MyCrypto.com?

Just saw the official verified MEW twitter account changed name to MyCrypto.com / @mycrypto. Below is the official Medium notice posted by them :

It seems that @tayvano_ and her team branched out forming a new company, leaving MEW and @kvhnuke_. After reading the medium post, I really do appreciate everything Taylor has done for MEW and the community & respect her decision to lead her team in a new direction. However, this all seems so abrupt. Also, it seems that the decision to change the verified official MEW twitter account name was made without an agreement with @kvhnuke_. I feel a bit confused by the situation at the moment. Gonna keep an eye on both @mycrypto and the new twitter account for @myetherwallet for now.

myetherwallet always had issues for me connecting to my metamask... mycrypto.com has connected first time without any problems.
all good, as far as i'm concerned.

Is this true? I have not heard any news yet. It's better to be careful that it's just a phishing site. It is better if we have the MEW's official statement about it

This is very confusing to me, they say that remains in control of the MIT github repository, the MEW domain, the AWS instances, and the MyEtherWallet social media accounts.

I do not want to be careless about this polemic, I will wait and see the progress that will happen.

It's very simple, the founder team has split up into MEW and MC. Both seem to be legit from a cursory glance, just led by different people.

Could this be an issue at some point in the future for MEW users? I realize MEW is open source so I would assume no, but can you think of any reason any of us that use MEW daily should be concerned?

OK, let's see how far the good report so far will last since it is just newly developed. We will come to know the other results maybe after few years. And so praise for now to this is good to hear.

i guess they want to prevent the users complaining since etherdelta has lot of issues to resolved and this action just proven they are running from obligation,why not have a gracefull exit than just hiding like a thief..its been a month when i last try to make transaction to etherdelta and it sucks.

The creation of other different wallet options from Myetherwallet will be really nice for Ethereum blockchain's future. I think that these types of enterprises should especially support for the benefit of the crypto community.

Yeah, it would be pretty hard to use something else than MyEtherWallet at first))) But in a few weeks it would become very common for sure ;) I guess it's a good move and I like the new name.

Yeah. I read the news. I just hope it is for the best interest of the community. I like the fact that they have detail what they will be adding to the site in the future. Like having desktop and mobile app. It will really be a good idea.

WHAT? So what we have to do now? The funds that I keep on MyEtherWallet will be automatically transferred to MyCrypto.com, or I still have to do something?

Edit: Or everything stays as it was and MyCrypto.com is working as separeted service?

I'm just confused why launch it first before they announced everything. As long as the website is secured and if they do this to inprove their security I always support them. Hoping for more progress and improvement for this website.

i didn't had the idea about this.. my friend just sent me some eth form mew.. i will wait for the official announcement . there are always risk of pishing scams..i just find this news after searching on the internet..

This is very strange news and it definitely will not cause a positive reaction among users and custodians of ETH. It seems to me that soon such currencies, like EOS, should replace ETH.

A few weeks ago. Team Blue (https://twitter.com/ethereumblue) found some issue with myetherwallet. They said, MEW was hacked. So, i think this is the way to cover their weaknesses on their security.

The article on Medium was posted by one of the 2 original founders of MEW, Taylor, who's leading the new MyCrypto team.

The other founder, kvhnuke, who remains with the current MEW team just posted his statement on Reddit :

So for now, it still seems that NEW remains functioning the same as before. MyCrypto.com is currently a copy of MEW, but they're a completely different company now and will develop MyCrypto.com with different features than MEW in the future.

With that said, I still feel the way Taylor changed the official MEW twitter account into MyCrypto.com was abrupt. It perhaps could have been better communicated ahead of time... Oh well, I'll still keep an eye on both sides for the time being.

Seems like this is just a move to increase profitability. They are having a hard time to earn a profit from managing MEW (Is there any way for them to earn income on that site?) They see the major interest in the concept they have and they want to commercialize it. Nothing wrong in that, they just need to be better then MEW to be able to pull it of. And for us that is a good thing, competition always is!

Myetherwallet Twitter account already change to mycrypto.com and immediately receive their 80K follower, so I don't know why was happening , myetherwallet has been hacked or it's have security issue, recommend stay at myetherwallet or move to mycrypto.com ?

If you have not seen the official information at least on twitter. I do not think that leaving your private key on other sites is a good idea. Therefore, it is better to wait for the official information. Personally, I have not heard anything about this

The company surely has some internal problems,management seems to have factions today,there still some unclear announcement at the moment,they should release an official announcement wont be confused to which website should be used.

Until there is an official announcement, i don't think its wise to use the new wallet. There was no announcement about any segregation, i would prefer mew even if there is a lot of problems that have been recently bothering users.

You haven't heard? I think you're too lazy to search it's confirmed on twitter news but we can still use MEW normally and site mycrypto is not an phishing site.

Well i do not think there was no agreement before the change, there may have been some disagreement but the other co-founder would have known about the change as well, after all, the same team will be supporting both MEW and MC.

No. No! It's not a rebrand. But I bet that is what she wants you to think. In August 2017 before he knew, she started crypto company and then did a fork. She asked for $1 million from him but refused to give him any financial paperwork to validate value. She then closed the MEW LLC and to get her marketing going really quick (lol), she took over the MEW Twitter account, rebranding it. She left him the core code and a few employees apparently. This info is in the legal documents online. Check for yourself. But, I wish we'd unfollow her and let her start with her fork as everyone does.. really ticks me off.

The word is UNITY. A group of people come together to achieve a goal.They must work together and all believe in and work toward that goal. Too many times ,in the world of cryptos,unity was lost. The reasons are not important because they are only excuses. The "team" is what puts value for the goal.I am nauseous from the promises made and the promises that failed.

I think it's a good news. There will be competition between two projects and each of them will have different development directions. Will see, which project will become most popular.

It is hard for a switch as most of tokens are built with ethereum platform and MEW is recommended for use as ERC-20 compatible wallet service. Further, most of ICOs are now using it to distribute its tokens. Need sometimes to prove what would be better ;)

At present mycrypto looks exactly like myetherwallet... it will have to work really hard to catch up with MEW.

And what should be its acronym? MC or MCT? ;D

But it is actually good to see a strong competitor to MEW, this will make the service stronger for both sites.

Lets hope there will not be any loopholes in this mycrypto that will cause harm to our ethereum wallets, as I am
supportive and would want to try it out.

I used MEW for all ETH and token! It's verry easy to used!

There was some sort of disagreement with the two founders of Myetherwallet resulting in one founders leaving and creating Mycrypto. I will stick with using MEW since I haven't encountered any issues with them before.

This is a little bit scary,we dont know what will happen to the company if they will have factions from the employee or founders,this is not a good thing to most of the users,we arent sure about what will be the future or which one we should use the old or the new site?

myetherwallet is a dangerous and insecure wallet for a number of reasons. The Ethereum Blue team has outlined all the problems many times. Just switch from myetherwallet to the BLUE wallet if you want to be safe.

Yes, Most of the active team members from MyEtherwallet came out and started MyCrypro and they are developing this since 9 months and it is the beginning of their development for the future.

That just like a battle between mew and my crypto. MEW vs Mycrypto and which is better in your opinion? but i was looking at the result of github contribution and that looks like a comparison the result of contribution between kvehnuke and tayvano. But as long as there will be more and more improvement to the mainstream wallet just like mew or mycrypto and it looks good.

Probably you didn't read the news and this thread thoroughly. MEW is not changing into MyCrypto. MyCrypto is not a rebranding but rather MEW fork. The similar fork like we see happening in crypto world - Bitcoin Cash which is a fork of Bitcoin and Ethereum classic which is a fork of Ethereum.
The wallets looks the same at this moment but we will probably see the differences between them in the future as each development team has their own development roadmap. That's the reason you don't see redirection from MEW to MyCrypto website now. You still can continue using MEW until MyCrypto proves itself as reliable wallet or until it has some significant advantages over MEW. Only time will show which one is better.

I agree with you. This look like a battle inside MEW, until we get a clarification from MEW we shouldn't make swift decisions. This split happened in a lot of companies, so I wouldn't say that this issue is some special

I hope things are sorted out quickly. Clashes between founders are not uncommon but given the skepticism about Crypto in general, this can only fuel speculation and FUD. Also people need to stop thrashing the founders, appreciate this has been a top quality service, available absolutely free of charge. A lot of work has been put in by the developers, but unfortunately they are going through a bad time.

So now basically we will have two wallets to choose from that are run by old and new members behind MEW correct? WOW this is going to confuse noobs lol but anyway if it's done it's done, that's all we can do choose which wallets we want to use. I will stick to MEW for now with my old stuff and maybe try out MYCRYPTO as a test run with small amounts and see how it goes. I hope MEW doesn't suffer because of this move. I don't want to see MEW vulnerable to attacks now.
