Almost all Altcoins gained *against BTC* today --- especially QTUM (one of Singapore based crypto project), LISK, and BCH (which I had sold off 50% and exchanged for Omisego (OMG).
Perhaps, the start of investors diversification of their coins, after the initial buy-in via "BTC" from Fiat, before/during the early recovery?

And perhaps it is indeed a good choice to go for (selected - base on careful/thorough research) altcoins when buying-in during a crash? -- I.e. lower MCAP coins saw greater %loss would likely see similarly high %gains when the market rebounds? — provided that the project behind it is sound, that is. Finger crossed that this trend will continue.

I dont see so much gains like you. The most coins are just doing well with bitcoin together in my eyes.. I think Bitcoin and the altcoins will see a nice hand in hand pump soon! We just have to wait a little bit more for the bigger gains!

Sure it will, and dont focus in one coin only, make your portofolio bigger, and have more coin in your wallet. Just make sure its not to much so you dont confused by it.

Yes indeed. Bitcoin was the mother of all cryptos but its time for the new generation kids.
New generation coins specializes and are advance, has quicker improvement and will soon outrun bitcoin in dominance.

I really wonder why Altcoins are being traded only with Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEO or with other Cryptocurrency but rather than Altcoin:USDT ratio I supposed to so only if the trading would be Altcoin to USD ratio then Bitcoin, Ethereum and other Top Altcoins will never be affect other coins and with that Bitcoin and Ethereum couldn't drag down the market whenever Top Altcoins are being affected by the crisis.

It probably depends on your portfolio. I cannot tell the same for my portfolio. %90 of the coins that I own is red. Not so much down but still it is minus. I need to review my coins and replace some of them.

Update: And now also XRP got pumped.

I own ETH, XRP, BCH, ADA, LTC, NEO, XLM, EOS, XMR, LSK, TRX, QTUM, VEN, OMG, ARK, and DGB + just bought the only ICO I have every bought, XDCE.

For altcoins, I only go for those that have MCAP that is above 20Mil USD + careful study of their history (before the crash) and research on what the teams behind it is doing, etc.

Note: I'm referring to %gain here + the delay between ppl buying back BTC after the crash have stabilized and during the recovery. I speculated that there will be a time delay before those people start to do more research and diversify a portion of their BTC into Altcoins, etc. hence I decided to get into my selected AltCoins early and wait for the %gain if I turn out right.

no, you are just caught up inside an illusion because you just saw a green percentage in front of the altcoins when you looked at a webpage.

but if you get a closer look and pay more attention to the details you will realize that the "gain" was pathetic compared to the loss. and it is only because they lost so much that they are not recovering a tiny part of it back. it is not magic nor diversification. it is the same newbies falling into same traps.

if these newbies get lucky and bitcoin stays stable around $8000 then their bags will continue growing more in value. but if their luck runs out and bitcoin starts rising or worse starts falling they have to say goodbye to their investments.

No need to think if some altcoins can be similar to btc value because all coins here are good and we can earn in all of coins here,if you think eth is good now by btc that's might happen but still value of bitcoin is already in crypto so even you use ethereum in transaction or you use it and not bitcoin that's not good for you because ethereum and bitcoin are good to use here in crypto so don't pick one and don't compare different coins.

You missed the point. Yes those coins may still have a long way to go before recovering to their original level vs Fiat, compared to BTC, however, I've converted to altcoin while the AltCoins still have not recovered yet after having bought into BTC earlier at 6.1kUSD. And only now then those AltCoins seems to start gaining.

Most of the altcoins gains against BTC were little, however I have a few that gained as much as 20% vs BTC atm from when I've traded in. The value of those coins before the crash isn't relevant in this case, and I don't need those coins to grow till the same MCAP as BTC to make gain in a profit (in terms of the amount of BTC that I would have if I convert all of them back into BTC now).

But I certainly have gained some extra BTC (equivalent) which I wouldn't have if I kept them all as BTC.

Also, note that I was NOT claiming a case of Filppening at all, which I do not believe is realistic too.

What are you talking about here about the benefits you get. Outperforming (against btc) is not, BTC still has a price farther than altcoin. Apart from a significant price comparison some altcoins have either escaped or are not censored with btc fluctuations as you say.

However, bitcoin is the leader of cryptocurrency market. I find that more and more people are not optimistic about BTC, and they choose altcoin, which worries me very much.
Because when bitcoin plummets, it's a bear market.

If you buy on the deep obviously you will gain but those who buy on high and mid are still not recovering their paper loss. But i know it will pump againand all you need is a little patient to reap your reward.

Yes, but here I am simply comparing of the potential gains when buying at the dip and keeping the injection as BTC, vs. diversifying a portion (if not all) of the injected BTC (after BTC have recovered a little) then into selected promising AltCoins that have not recovered.

Yes now we can see the gradual increase in the price of crypto coins in last few days after the unexpected market slump and we just need to hold on to the coins.

This trend is indeed a good start after the bloodbath,but for now lets hope that his green days will last for long.Because the total marketcap has increase 4x in just few hours after the market crashed it is a good indicator for most of the investors to comeback and put their money back to bitcoin's market causing most of the alts to follow,recovery process is still ongoing,lets hope that there will no negative fake news or FUDs that will spread.

If you look at the general trends for the last 4 months: https://coinmarketcap.com/charts/ the BTC dominance has been on a steady decline, while the other (alt coins) have been increasing their market share over time.

Altcoins movement is completely depends on Bitcoin movement. These increase in altcoins can be seen only for few days ,once the bitcoin starts dumping badly again there be huge dump seen again in altcoins. Keep taking profit time to time.

This is great news and I think it will continue until bitcoin decided to work as a community and improve its code. Right now bitcoin is still almost useless, even with lower fees.

It seems the market has already back on track that is why most of the altcoins are showing greens,but we need to be vigillant because somebody might took this oppotunity to spread FUDs again which can make another panic at the market,surely most of the people again will believe to these fake negatives news which these giants has created.

An interesting aspect that I like to observe is despair, when the market is in decline, the forum turns to the area of regrets, questions of investments, opinions and great discussions, when will we learn when it's time for a trend? high or low. Tomorrow the market wakes up in red, bleeding again, many comments here will become in vain on this topic. In short, we must be cautious about investments, the trend it is neutral, watch the graphics closely.

This is indeed a positive sign, but i'm afraid if btc dips a bit again another bloodbath on alts might come up. Keep your heads up peeps

This is good news as altcoins are far more interesting to trade than bitcoin. However, i doubt it will last throughout all of 2018 as at some point bitcoin will rally and then everyone sill start to sell their alts to jump on the bandwagon. Better grab some alts and trade now before that happens - and make huge gains  ;D

It is not just about having coins in your wallet. The best is to ensure that one is having good coins with prospect that has bottomed out enough and showing good bullish signs. You can have some shit coins in your wallet and unless you are lucky, you may just end up bag-holding some of them.

However, looking at the way things are turning out, we may be expecting the altcoins to start doing good anytime soon if bitcoin obviously shows sign of improvement.

As long as BTC remains the main crypto that is widely paired with Fiat, its health will most certainly dictate the health of all the other cryptos. Hence BTC is king atm. (Although, I'm parking my bulk in ETH instead -- I am holding zero BTC atm).

But I doubt ppl in general are gonna start pulling their investment out of BTC but rather, people who have bought in to BTC with fiat are now moving to diversify as they would sooner or later. What I was saying above was that there is a delay between this diversification movement of funds, and the buying of BTC during the crash, and altcoin investers should take advantage of this now (or perhaps earlier as possible since they have already started to rise and recover). ;)

My lowest MCAP coins are Nuls, Gulden, and Blackcoin. XD haha But I only put in like $100 each in them.

And I have very high hopes for OMG and Stellar, and the Singapore-based ICO that I've just bought XinFin (similar to OMG), to go past the moon, and missing Mars too, and heads towards the Asteroid belt! XD

I thought the same thing today when i looked at the charts at coinmarketcap. All alts was flashing green. Then i looked into it and i saw doge was around 58 satoshis. It was around 58-60 range for weeks.

Surely the market has come to a bullish trend after the worst bloodbath we experienced.The total marketcap has already climbed back to 400B levels which is a good indicator that most investors are poring their money back to bitcoin.

Great signs, market is recovering and soon we will see the excitement and FOMO again, taking the crypto market towards the skies, lets stay positive.

The market seems to be recovered from the worst bloodbath that we have experienced for about 2years,the previous market crash is the worst and it is a good thing now invetors are coming back,putting their money to cryptocurrencies again.

A lot of people keep talking about Tether like this is going to totally shatter the crypto space. Please! What have we not heard already ? However, I have heard that some exchanges like bittrex are already making some moves on allowing USD trading pair on their platform. At least, I feel that should be good enough for the crypto space and curb all these rants about tether that is going on.

Yeah, some of altcoins gained, some of them are still doing. I also noticed some pretty good bounce on Bitcoin Cash, I heard a conference is going on or coming up (not sure) that has to do with blockchain and cryptocurrency with Roger Ver being an invited guest in the conference and I am not sure if that is a coincidence, but it kind of correlated with the bounce. News though normally has a way of playing with the minds of traders, so I guess we see what happens next on this one.

I know this is definitely NEVER gonna happen. But I do secretly wish that if there is to be a filppening, DogeCoin will replace BTC as common crypto pairing in exchanges + the only coin that people can buy into cryptos via fiat.  ;D

these 2 days was a good days for crypto,almost all coin grow up and i got i little profit from all coin that i invest.

the bitcoin course is relative to the altcoin course, just check out charts over the years. I hope it will change someday.

Yes is seems that the market has stabilized already and most of the altcoins has recovered from the bloodbath that we receive.Lets hope that this green candles would last for long,because im sure these manipulators will take an advantages that the market has to offer.Surely another FUD would spread and most of the people again will do panic selling that will result another market crash.

between Alty and bitcoins there is a link which is very strong in it there is a pricing but nevertheless altcoyins some become very successful they can grow very much

Well all I can say is that I am really not surprised, in fact, I'd be damn shocked if this didn't happen. This is simply because of the increasing people who profit a lot on investing in different altcoins out there that are obviously altcoins which have real great concepts together with great hard working developers behind them. Of course this trend will sure attract more people that want bigger profits in small periods of time which then increases traffic in the  altcoin industry. And judging by how early it is still, I can already see the numbers increasing more in the future.

Most of them are just managing to have some little bit of gains gradually, nothing much. However, looking at the way things have turned out with bitcoin and the fact that we have been holding a little bit on price, is making the alts to rally bit by bit in a way. I wonder what next week is going to be coming up with in the market or probably, we may even get to see the next level by weekend.

It just seems that altcoins prices depends on the price of Bitcoin but it doesn't work that way. Bitcoin price may decrease. However, the prices of altcoins should increase continuously. This is essential for a healthy market. For now lets hope that his green days will last for long and hope the investors to comeback and put their money back to bitcoin's market.
