Title: Funakoshi equihash cuda miner is now available
Post by: funakoshi on February 12, 2018, 11:00:30 AM
Release v5.2 of funakoshi-miner is out with improved performance:

Equihash 144,5 speed:

    GTX 1080        avg  47-56   sol/s
    GTX 1080ti      avg  66-75   sol/s
    GTX 1070        avg  37-45   sol/s
    GTX 1060 6gb  avg  26-31   sol/s

Equihash 200,9 speed:

    GTX 1080 avg 525 sol/s

Note that the sol/s change all the time due to statistical nature of equihash.
To measure the avg run the miner a full day.

Since release v4.5 users can connect to any equihash pool supporting 200,9 or 144,5 algo.
Algo 200,9 is the default, use command-line arg --algo 144_5 to select the 144,5 algorithm.

Any port can be specified (ssl is no longer enforced).

The --pers parameter is supported allowing users to mine any 144,5 coin.
--pers auto is also supported (allowing the pool to control the pers string, use auto only when supported by the pool).

Dev fee 1.5%

For more information and to download the solver visit my github  (https://github.com/funakoshi2718/funakoshi-miner)repository.

Does not work, writes two errors, requires nvml.dll and cudart64_90.dll

Win10_64_LTSB,drider nvidia 388.59, VC 1070/1080/1080ti

The file nvml.dll is part of the nvidia cuda distribution.
This dll is used by the program nvidia-smi and by the solver for
checking the current GPU temperature. It should be at directory:

    C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI

Please compile with MS VC++ runtime libraries (ms-crt*******.dll :'( errors).

Reinstalled the driver for version 390.77, an error with nvml.dll remained :(

I have staticaly linked the MS C++ runtime libraries,
and updated the release (download funakoshiMiner.exe).

Please check if you can run the nvidia-smi program.
It should be located at the directory
   C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI
In this directory the dll can also be found.

You should download nvidia cuda for this to work.

Any way I have added the dll to the release.

What happens when you run the utility program "nvidia-smi".
This program also uses the dll.

I have just created a fresh new windows instance with a GTX 1070 GPU on the cloud.

After that I have installed the nvidia driver from their website.

Next, I downloaded funakoshiMiner.exe and the dll files from
github to the same directory and executed the program.

There were no problems in finding any dll and the program worked smoothly.

miner looking for dll in the miner folder, if you put it there it will start.

is it faster than EBWF's ?

is it faster than EBWF's ?

Funakoshi is a little faster, and is virus-free.

Miner is reporting 'wrong version number' when connected to zcl.suprnova.cc.

Went back to EBWF...

Miner is reporting 'wrong version number' when connected to zcl.suprnova.cc.

Went back to EBWF...

I have just now tried connecting to zec.supernova.cc from windows and from linux.
Both succedded without any problem.

Maybe you didn't pass correct command-line args to the program.
Did you use the SSL port?

Please look at usage example in:

   https://github.com/funakoshi2718/funakoshi-miner

Specific example for supernova:

    funakoshiMiner -cd 0 -l zec.suprnova.cc:2242 -u userName.workerName -temp-max 82 -temp-min 75

Downloaded from here https://github.com/funakoshi2718/funakoshi-miner/releases

I'm on windows 10 64 bit

Used this in bat file:

funakoshiMiner.exe -cd 0 1 -l zcl.suprnova.cc:4042 -u xxx.xxx-p xxx

Have I missed something?

*Yes I had missed something, I needed the SSL port 4142 instead :)

I'm not sure it is any faster than EBWF on my x2 1080ti's though.

EBWF gives approximately 1412 sols/s
Funakoshi gives approxately 1400 sols/s

75% power, +140 Core, +300 mem both cards

Don't ask me. I am not objective. Try and see.
I think that it depends on your comfiguration.

EWBF 4100   DSTM 4235  Funakoshi 4050   5x 1080ti + 1080.   for a 0.7-1% fee it would be ok.

Try adding -144 to command-line BitcoinGold has forked and now uses <144,5> Equihash Parameters.
The -144 causes using the new Proof-Of-Work algorithm.

Running 12x1080 and 11x1080 rigs with your miner and noticed that ~8 GPU's load stays at 99% and the rest are 85%.

Tried to run two instances of a miner, but the full load gets only those which batch file I run first.

Is there any limitation in a code and can you look into it?

PS. was running ewfb miner before with 40-41 rock stable sols/s but the payout from a pool was same or less day to day. So I believe there is still some potential to squeeze out from this miner:)

Thanks!

When you run the miner without specifying which cards to use it uses all cards (thats why the first process access all cards).
You can specify in the command-line which cards to use:
     -cd 0 1 2 ... (selects which cuda-devices meaning GPUs to use - starting from 0)

Using this technique you can select different gpu cards for each process.

Hi, that's exactly how I was running two instances with different GPUs. After a little investigation I found out that GPU 0-5 always under 99% load and 6-11 varies from 85% to 95% and never gets 99% except running single card in whole rig.
Running -cd 6 7 8 - all ~97%
Running -cd 6 7 8 9 - ranging 85%-95%
And it is not affected if 0-5 are running or not. Running more instances does not help.

I have no idea what may cause this problem, sorry. Maybe
it is a hardware problem.

In release v4.1 of Funakoshi Cuda Miner, there is
a jump in the performance of equihash<144, 5>.

Now on gtx 1080 it is the fastest.

I've tried Funakoshi-v4.5 and EWBF-v0.5 for Bitcoin-Gold mining on 2miners.
Here is my tweet...of course in Japanese:)
https://twitter.com/ohashi3d/status/1038554573357572097 (https://twitter.com/ohashi3d/status/1038554573357572097)
Ubuntu 16.04 with nvidia-396.44(CUDA 9.2), for both the single GTX1070 system and the rig(composed of 8 GPUs).

* Edited *
I'm trying v4.6 now:)

* Edited #2 *
My tweet:
https://twitter.com/ohashi3d/status/1038918179949408256 (https://twitter.com/ohashi3d/status/1038918179949408256)
Though EWBF-v0.5 keeps advantage in my environment,
I feel there is no apparent difference in actual rewards, such as in hashrate.

Funakoshi-miner has no api, however it has a mininal telemetry.

Add argument  -tele-port p  to the command line and specify the port number
on which the miner listens to http-requests and return summary information in html.
The results can be displayed in a browser.

For equihash 144,5 performance has been improved, at
least for gtx 1080 on which Funakoshi-Miner is considerably
faster than EWBF. I haven't optimized for 1060 yet.

For equihash 200,9 Funakoshi-Miner is much faster on all devices.

When Chrome browser is running on your PC, it prevents the
miner from reaching its full speed (due to resources occupied
by Chrome on gpu). Thus close it before measuring mining speed.

The sol/s change all the time due to the statistical nature of the
equihash algorithm. You may get different results each minute. Each
job sent by the pool has different number of solutions in it. Thus
compare performance of different programs over time.

You should expect the reported sol/s to change about 10% to 20 % all the time.
This behaviour doesn't depend on the implementation, its in the core of equihash.

Thats why miner is faster on simpleming  than my Windows :)
And i saw lower power consuption than ewbf
6x1060
565W  average on EWBF and 165-170 sols
530W average on your miner and 154-162 sols
when i increase PL on funakoshi 156-165 sols

BTW im mining 144_5 will be nice when you speed up 1060 :)

It was considerably slower. Now it it closer but still a little bit behind.
On 5*1080 ewbf ~ 245-250 your ~ 233-238
Good progress anyway.

On each GTX 1080 withoud OC
EWBF performance is ~45 sol/s (EWBF itself says that it has ~45 sol/s, and 45 * 5 = 225 much less than 245-250)
Funakoshi performance is ~49 sol/s (I measured myself this performance on my 1080, which has been confirmed by other users).

Anyone having GTX 1080 can measure the performance and see the results.

The miner expect a valid domain name as value of the --server argument
and you specified an IP address instead.

To overcome this you can map any valid domain name that you choose to your IP in the file:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

For example Add the following line to the hosts file:

   54.37.xx.30  kukukukukuku.com

and than specify --server kukukukukuku.com
in the command-line.

Funakoshi-Miner does not modify the clock or the fans speed.
The numbers are without OC.

Cuda code can't modify the clock of Nvidia Pascal devices (the gpu
internaly auto adjust the clock depending on temperature and electricity).

Only by using low-level Nvidia drivers an application can adjust the clock.
Funakoshi-Miner doesn't do that.

Afterburner do that for OC.

as long as the mined coin uses one of the following algorithm:
    Equihash<200,9> such as Zcash or
    Equihash<144,5> such as BitcoinGold

But now I receive "nvmlInit failed".

The miner needs the file nvml.dll
nvml stands for Nvidia Management library,
and it is used for querying the gpu temperature.
Put nvml.dll in the same directory containing funakoshiMiner.exe

The file nvml.dll is contained in my distribution.
If its version is incompatible with your system use
the file supplied by Nvidia runtime.
