I didn't look into this coin, but it is common for cryptonight coins to require up to 3 h to mature

It took about 45 minutes before I started seeing transactions listed.  Now they are coming through consistently every 10 minutes.

hi... long time lurker, but I had to register because of the urge to ask a simple question...

why launch another coin (fork) with only 1 paragraph of "new idea"
what's the point ?

seriously, if your idea ever becomes successful, which we all admit is a very low chance because of the extremely high competition and overlapping coins (don't be mad !), you will have created a highly suspicious "pre-mine" base with only hype-users (rig owners, nicehashers, etc.) that don't truly care about your project.

in other words, announcing a project before it has any real "meat" around it creates whales that WILL MASSIVELY DUMP at the first hints of natural growth and make "organic" growth near impossible.

IMHO this applies the most to coins which don't aim at being a pure currency, and have a more original concept behind it (which VESTA seems to aim at)

I thought that Garlicoin did a good thing... the first announcements were for a test net... when an organic community big enough gathered around it, they announced "real mining" at a fixed date so that so that everyone could have a chance (and many pools were organized)

also, look at what happened with turtlecoin (cryptonote fork),  which had progressive "dark" and word-of-mouth announcements (AKA not a syncronised start like garlicoin)... tons of whales began dumping... big spike, now the coin is at 3-4 sats, not moving at all for weeks now (or just slowly losing value). this is sad because turtlecoin, is actually a real project with real devs and a drive to improve the cryptonote blockchain in a focused way...

tl;dr i mean to some extent it's very hard to prevent bubble behavior with new coins, but there are various ways of mitigating it.... announcing a projet with only minimal meat around it (i.e. a vague paragraph) only feeds speculation which in turn will affect the coin negatively once the project picks up more substance (if it ever does..........)

edit : obviously garlicoin didn't solve the hype problem (it has a price graph similar to turtlecoin), but accusation of virtual premine (limited # of early lucky users) doesn't apply as it applies to turtlecoin (which in my view is a more legit project, with active devs)

I started mining around 9:00am so really anything after around 10:40am should have had the payment sent (assuming 60secs blocktime and 100 depth so should be 100 mins (1hr 40mins)?) i was wondering could this be an issue with the windows wallet addresses or something like that? Usualy you want to copy wallet.bin to your %users%/Appdata/vestacoin directory before open your versacoin gui wallet.
Note that folder usualy is a hidden folder. good luck.

Its probably late. But if you are still going to mine, you can use port 7766 since it is for miners with high hashrate. The server would also automatically adjust your difficulty if its too much or too low. You could also put  a static difficulty by appending your difficulty after your wallet address. A rough estimate for 30Khs would be 400k to 600k.

Beware of  pools claiming that they have 0% fee or x% fee since some shady pools are displaying fake fee values on their website but they are actually collecting fees on your mined blocks. The answer is you cannot import it right now as the current implementation of Vestacoin's wallet doesnt support importing of private keys. Why am I minninging 4.9kh / s but after 30 minutes still only get 0.3vesta ?

Problem with Win64 purse
What I did:
Uploaded, the wallet was synchronized.
Menu
File / Create walett
I enter the name,
save.

synchronization seconds.
and that's all.
I'm looking for the address of the koshel, I find it in 1 place.
Receive tab.

I copy the address and start collecting coins.

There are no coins in your wallet.
On a pool of transaction pass, no income!
After 3 hours I begin to look.

Now when I click the Receive button, I see another purse address.
I go to the menu to download the wallet.

You will need to wait a while before the blocks are matured, normally around 90mins

You can't be sure about the average return you get over 30 minutes. It's variable and even more so when it comes to shorter time periods.

This is something that I would find useful for the kids, and the wife being a teacher would use also.

UPDATE

It has been a busy week for us. We have been working hard nearly around the clock to try and get the new features added to the coin. Starting with a basic base allows us to do a lot more with the currency but we have found the drawback has become how time consuming this has become. We understand that all of you are getting very excited and want the new features but progress takes time and we want to be absolutely sure that everything is perfect for you!

 

Difficulty Targeting
We have found a few bugs in the way difficulty targeting currently works and have employed a solution to allow for quicker adjustments. You may have noticed this and not realized- pool hashrate is higher then network hashrate. No, this is not the pools fault it is the network. It does not affect payouts and you are still generating blocks its just a matter of cleaning some of the code up and changing a few things. You should be able to expect this to be in a near-future update to the wallet.

Importing Keys
We hope all of you have had success with recovering your funds from the cryptomoneros paper wallet generator. We are very grateful to have had a community member step forward and offer something to windows users and others who did not know how to compile a linux wallet. Currently we are working on getting the fixed code ported over to the wallet GUI for all of you. As the code is right now, its very rudimentary and clunky to use. Again we would like to thank all of you for being as patient as you have with this, we understand its not easy knowing if your coins are secure or not.

We have received replies from a few exchanges and will hold a funding round this Sunday to procure funds for listing. Masternode coins will be auctioned on Sunday and used for the listing fee. We hope that each of you are able to contribute to the funding rounds and look forward to working with all of you. We are excited to announce that we are continuing work on VestaCoin and have high hopes for the future. We are sorry for the lack of communication. There have been some personal issues that had to be dealt with before moving forward with this project. We are, however, happy to announce that everything has been sorted out and progress will continue to be made. We have some exciting things to announce so lets jump right in.

1: We have brought on 2 new team members specifically to help manage social media. (Discord, Bitcointalk, Emails, etc)

2: We have been in contact with multiple exchanges and are working very hard to get VestaCoin listed to give the community a place to buy and sell.

3: The team has had multiple meetings and have decided on some very interesting use cases for Vesta including online shopping, online gaming, mobile application for payments, and a few other ideas. (More details coming soon)

4: We have also decided to put a lower priority on MasterNode development and distribution until we gain more momentum. We believe that right now, in our early stages, we need to build up the community first. We need to provide use cases and value before anything else. MN development will be continued however we are exploring a possible algorithm change. We have managed to get a very basic form of POS working within the Cryptonight code but we are not certain that MasterNodes will be possible. We will continue to work on and update the community on the current situation. You can expect more details in the new roadmap when it is published. We are simply applying more effort to other areas of this project and community that we believe will be a better use of our time in helping this project succeed.

5: We are currently working on creating a better and more detailed roadmap of exactly what our goals are for each quarter of this year. We are very excited to see Vesta and our community grow.
