Title: How you choose the exchange for trading? Vote!
Post by: Jekbolt on February 13, 2018, 11:35:52 AM
Hello crypto fans!

I have drafted a topic summarizing (with your help) all types of existing and upcoming crypto exchanges: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2918431.0

Now, to make that information even more usable, through evaluating each type of exchange,
let's consider the primary concerns of traders (us). That info will also help current and future Exchanges to fit our (traders) needs.

By voting on that topic kindly choose 4 (four) most influencing parameters for you, when you decide, what exchange to use for trading.

Here are the list of parameters and short explanations:

1. Crypto-favorable country of Exchange's registration
Means a comparatively low risk of exchange closure by regulators.

2. High degree of security
Means cold storage of crypto, 2FA, perfect protection of clients private data and funds.

3. Fast and excellent customer support

4. Solid reputation and positive clients feedbacks

5. The lowest fees on the market
Means the lowest total cost of trading: including deposit fee, trade fees, withdrawal fee and best limits policy.

6. Ability to buy/sell at best prices
Means an abundance of trading pairs, liquidity, real-time & not-fake auctions leading to most transparent prices. Trade indicators, price alerts, and other notification signals, ability to use TA instruments.

7. Availability of margin or/and derivatives trading

8. Ease of use
Means a quite simple interface of an exchange.

Vote to make the crypto world more attractive for you and newcomers!

This is indeed a good list of good exchange parameters. The top four parameters I chose:

1) Crypto-favorable country of Exchange's registration - Certainly you wouldn't want to set up an exchange in China right now.
2) High degree of security - Can't be traded with any other parameter
3) Fast and excellent customer support - Hint:Poloniex
4) Ease of use - For people like me, who aren't a big fan of advanced features.

I did not choose "lowest fees" and "Ability to buy/sell at best prices" because these things are already competitive and so no big difference.
"Availability of margin or/and derivatives trading", haven't tried these features. I just go for market price, LOL!

I trade on bitfinex and for me is:
  • High degree of security
  • Reliable reputation and positive clients feedbacks
  • Availability of margin or/and derivatives trading
  • Ease of use

I love margin trading. If you dont make lot of mistakes this is a great opportunity to earn good money. The main thing is to learn to close positions on time.

For me main parameters are - high degree of security, solid reputation and positive clients feedbacks, the lowest fees on the market (Binance), availability of margin trading (Bitfinex).

1. Crypto-favorable country of Exchange's registration.
2. High degree of security.
3. Fast and excellent customer support

I chose these three parameters and if all three have been given to the user (trader), I am sure other parameters will be available in exchange itself.

I usually trade at Bittrex since
  • It has tight security like 2FA, you wont be able to login/send coins without the 2Fa code
  • They have fiat trading
  • I think the fees are low compared to others
  • trusted by the community since it is popular

I consider one of the main criteria for choosing-it security and the ability to quickly withdraw its investments!

- They have Fiat Trading.

I think the main factor for people is the universality, and of course the lack of verification, I do not like when I request documents some sort of exchange, which does not guarantee the safety of my personal data.

I only choose famous exchange which has positive feed back from its users. Some exchanges which not so popular are mostly have problem with its operations. For example, I saw merchatox exchange did so many maintenance in a month, some people have problem with it withdrawls as well. But actually it is good exchange site with nice UI, it just so fragile.

Main things for me are security (reputation), and the different varieties of coins that the exchange offers. Based on these, I've mainly been using bittrex, binance, and kucoin.

I always have a look at the structure of the team behind the exchange. There have to be guys that I can trust, I always look at their history in their social media accounts or something. If I cannot find information about the team I dont trade on that  exchange!

I choose those stock exchanges where -
- more coins are traded.
 - a simple and intuitive interface
 - where the relatively low risk of closing the exchange by regulators.
- where a relatively high degree of security.
- where withdrawal takes place quickly.
For me, at the moment, for these criteria correspond Bittrex, Poloniex, Kucoin

These are the qualifications of good exchange
2. High degree of security  - because the first thing we need to do is to protect our investments from the hackers.
3. Fast and excellent customer support - if we got some issues customer support shoud be excellent to help us resolve our issues
4. Solid reputation and positive clients feedbacks - a good community feedback and plus a trusthy platform would be needed to be sure that they wont scam their users
5. The lowest fees on the market - lowest fees means more opportunity to trade more coins,

And my best exchange would be binance because it has all of these qualifications.

I usually use the most user friendly exchange that does not require verification and of course supports my tokens.
Security is a must also especially when we know that many exchanges have been hacked lately.
Another criteria is fees, I use only exchanges that take small fees, many of them became so greedy and some times you have to pay more fees than what you win from trading.

Ha-)
I guess it's hard to reach the full security for the exchange and not require verification from users, at the same time.

3. Fast and excellent customer support
This one should be long term. Issues with so many trading websites. When they stay longer they get too tired to answer customer issues. Don't want that to happen. Anytime a problem can pop up and you dont want to get stuck with that.
Look at Poloniex and Yobit. They are sinking their own company.

5. The lowest fees
I think anyone would want this.

6. Ability to buy/sell at best prices
Of course we need movements everytime. It means a lot of people are really into the website.

8. Ease of use
I loved binance because of the ease in my eyes and a user friendly kind of service.

That isnt possible an exchange which wont require trading fees?exchanges needs to raise funds for the maintenance how would they maintain the website if they wont have any source of income?i dont think advertisement will do the job because domain + hosting would be expensive when an exchange has a lot of traffics everyday.I personally love binance too because it requires less fees than any exchanges out there.

There are some exchanges that do not meet the criteria, but the crypto assets you want to buy are listed there, you can trade there because of the crypto assets you want to buy, but if you are a day trader, there are many things you have to consider before deciding which exchange you have to trade on e.g.
Cryptos trading on the exchange, (must be trading the top cryptos),
Liquidity,
Security,
What people are saying about the exchange,
etc.

security is a must

then it's about the range of coins, customer service and liquidity

then down the scale is price as most aren't that expensive if trading mid to long term positions

On my end I will choose
2. High degree of security
3. Fast and excellent customer support
5. The lowest fees
8. Ease of use

But as long as the crypto exchange is very secure and low transaction fees many traders will like it (me too).
Each trader have favorite trading indicators and it would be great if all trading indicators is available to be use in an exchange.

Good pointers! I don't often use exchangers but for me it is a must that it has great security in protecting my investments. It is also a must that an exchanger is very easy to use especially for newbies where they can do transaction easily and instantly. Lower trading fees is a good attraction too as we know that blockchain transaction fees are quite expensive nowadays so it would be nice to have trading fees which are very affordable.

In my opinion it would be much better to divide "Ability to buy/sell at best prices" into 2 options: liquidity and the amount of trading cryptos. I just can't see the tie between "Ability to buy/sell at best prices" and "abundance of trading pairs" at all.

As far as I can see from the survey, the answer about safety is the most popular one. I myself chose this item first. Quick withdrawal of money from the exchange and a large variety of coins - this is also very important. Now, Kucoin is rapidly gaining momentum and competing with large players.

Current major exchanges are doing good but we need more liquidty at decentralized exchanges such as etherdelta and idex.
Centralized exchanges are going to have more hacking problems in near future.

The problem is that if we start now divide one parameter then everything must be divided and we get too many parameters.
Another way is to start with 8 parameters (like now), then take those which are more important for people and divide each of them separately. For example, 8 parameters for the ability to buy/sell for the best prices, and so on. It would be done in the next steps.

By the way abundance of pairs in one place in theory increase liquidity, which in turn increase competition in Order Books, which in turn gives you a more transparent BIDs/ASKs prices with the owest spreads.

From those list, I can say, only three parameters which suitable with me.

1. High degree of security Yes, this is very important things. I  usually stored many assets in exchanges, so high security is a must
2. Fast and excellent customer support I very hate some exchanges which not respect their customers.
3. The lowest fees on the market This is important to, as a trader, we have to get more profit and search the lowest fee exchanges.

You'r right,,,the high concentration of capital in major exchanges will attract both: hackers and legal authorities/restrictions. Don't know who are worse=)

This is how i choose an  trading platform for cryptocurrency in order:

*High degree of security
Means cold storage of crypto, 2FA, perfect protection of clients private data and funds.

*The lowest fees on the market
Means the lowest total cost of trading: including deposit fee, trade fees, withdrawal fee and best limits policy.

*Fast and excellent customer support

*Crypto-favorable country of Exchange's registration
Means a comparatively low risk of exchange closure by regulators.

I always prioritize security because it is the usual issue or reason why the trading platform closed.

The most important indicator for the exchange is security, ease of use and user support, and of course favorable prices, this also determines the country in which the exchange. The benefit now is a lot of exchanges and there is something to choose from.

Security is the number one criteria for me because I want to ensure that I will be receiving my money safely. I have experienced a problem before with withdrawals in an exchanges and I don't want to experience that again. For weeks, I haven't able to withdraw and I was really worried because it was a good amount and I need that for my dissertation. I contacted their customer support but there was no response. Good thing, though it took weeks, I got it and with that experience I learned that not because it is an exchanges that you should trust it and be comfortable with it at all times.

The only thing that i choose from exchange are because its securities. That was become the vital terms to choosing a trustful one. Eventhough we know how good are exchange security now. Its still have a chance of being hacked.

And the second is how customer support respond.

Hackers attack the exchanges which 1. have a nice stake of assets 2. have the holes in the protection allowing to get these assets
But the cost of assets must be higher than the cost of theft organisation.

Two weeks waiting is not so much...there the case where your money being stocked for many weeks.

Depends on what you want to trade, or what you want to do after trading... Unfortunetly there is no all in one exchange where all coins/tokens and you can withdraw straight to your adv cash or visa and etc...

You are right,,, but let's imagine that you have such exchange where any altcoin (no matter what blockchain it's based) can be traded immediately after releasing. Such a hypothetical exchange shall not even check that coins issuer prior to listing to be able to do what you want. That's what you want - have a full freedom no matter of altcoins quality?

There are many important criteria’s for me when i am choosing the exchange but most important one is being secure. I am trying to avoid using any exchanges that doesn’t make me feel safe about my coins. I think it’s more important than fee rates.

Security - the main goal for my preferable exchange. 2fa is a must plugin for the exchange, withdrawal confirmation also the second best option.
Best new coins - formthe.good flip this option will work the best way. Right after ico you can sell or buy the coin for a good price.
Reputation - another valuable parameter for the best exchange, but even this kind of exchange can be scammed. A lot.of.people should remember one of the stable.exchange before summer 2017...

For me it depends on what I need from an exchange. When I want to work with the basic part of my portfolio, I look at security and reputation. When I want to grab a new token at a low price, I don't care about security much. Most likely I will check only fees, withdraw limits and so on. If you are not going to store ypur crypto on exhange, than security is not so important. Register, deposit, buy and withdraw.

You use a smart way of trading. I also believe that a trader should not use only one channel for buying and selling cryptos

1. High degree of security: No need to write about this everybody already knows about this.
2. Fast and reliable customer support: Suppose we end up in some silly or complecated problems they are our only source of help. Users must not be neglected like bittrex exchange.
These are my top 2 priorities. Rest would be after these like clean UI, good features, low fees, margin trading etc.

As for me, the main thing - it is ease of use. Because there are exchanges on which in General nothing is unclear, for example, Etherdelta. And although I have coins that are traded only on this exchange, I prefer to wait until the coins come out on a larger exchange.

Ultimately though, the two more important things are coin availability and reputation. Most of the big exchanges are reputable and have a much lower chance of screwing you over. Be wary of smaller exchanges and exchanges that people have a lot of negative things to say about.

2. High degree of security
Means cold storage of crypto, 2FA, perfect protection of clients private data and funds.

3. Fast and excellent customer support

4. Solid reputation and positive clients feedbacks

5. The lowest fees on the market
Means the lowest total cost of trading: including deposit fee, trade fees, withdrawal fee and best limits policy.

These three is a must to have in our exchanges, security in the first place, customer services are needed when something isnt working with your account, reputation would be the reason why you will use the exchange, fees must be minimized so the users can enjoy trading without giving a lot of fees to their each trade..

7. Availability of margin or/and derivatives trading

8. Ease of use
Means a quite simple interface of an exchange.

Vote to make the crypto world more attractive for you and newcomers!

My 1st concern will always be the security, hence why im ticking it. 2nd will be the reputation and feedback, that's how we usually try and use the exchange because of this, 3rd is the ease of use, i want everything to be as simple as possible, crypto is already complicated, atleast user interface of exchanges should make up for it. And lastly, costumer support, i made this as last choice, since we dont raise ticket everyday but also equally important if ever we have issues with withdrawal/deposit and amongst other things.

The most important indicator for the exchange is security, ease of use and user support, and of course favorable prices, this also determines the country in which the exchange. The benefit now is a lot of exchanges and there is something to choose from.

Yes, you can not only to choose the one with the normal fee structure but diversify your assets...more exchanges and more "good" exchanges is a perfect trend!

I always do some researches about the exchanges before i register. So they are a lot of exchange which doesnt have a support. They dont help to their users wenn they have a problem. Sometimes the coins and tokens disappear and they are gone forever. When i read something like this, its a totally nogo for me to trade on this exchange. They also have to ne low to normal fees. ANd last but not least, it has to be 100% secure. I dont send all my coins to a wallet, because i have to be flexible and sometimes i have to sell fast, so is store the coins and tokens on the exchanges. This means it has to be 100% secure!

When it comes to good exchanges, my first consideration is the security level of that exchange. Security is of utmost importance. I have noticed that most of the big exchanges have high security profile, while some with low security profile makes it easily hacked or cloned. I have loved exchanges like Bittrex, Binance, Okex, Kucoin, Polonix, GetBTC, HitBTC, and a host of others for their security level. This makes them to have great hype.

The other pros of coins stored in the exchange is that you don't waste money on transactions dep/withdr (which can be high when crypto prices are high). But surely you are right to do so the exchange must be 100% ( more possible level is 99%) secure.

For me main parameters are - high degree of security, solid reputation and positive clients feedbacks, the lowest fees on the market (Binance), availability of margin trading (Bitfinex).
I guess binance really came to make an impact in the market with their fees and it is working. Personally, as long as security is not an issue, then I am good, the rest is just a matter of weighing the options and seeing how they all stand out from each other, which balls down to the other benefits.

I believe when security and customer support is fine, normally, the review should be perfect. Ease of use though is something I really do not consider as long as I can make use of the exchange API on a trading tool.

I consider one of the main criteria for choosing-it security and the ability to quickly withdraw its investments!
Regards Denis!
Security is a parameter that anyone will definitely choose first and this is a necessity for me. Customer support on the other hand is a must for any exchange and any exchange that ends up having a bad customer support pisses me off instantly. If an exchange can have this two, I am sure they should be considered reputable, the rest on the list are just minor things I can easily overlook, as long as I can easily make my trade.

Options 2 to 5 for me has always been the main parameters are look at anyway but most of all, it is that security. We sure cannot guarantee full security with any exchange, as anything can happen, even trusted exchanges in the past has been dealt with by hackers, but at least a little bit of hope is good enough. If I cannot sleep all night and thinking about my funds not being secured, why would I ever put funds in such exchange and that is a way of sending a message to Yobit and HitBtc users. ;D

Right, most exchanges will already know by now that the only way they can compete among themselves is basically the fee which to me I want to believe should not be much of a huge parameter, since the fees generally has not always been a problem unless a particular exchange wants to go overboard with a higher fee than the normal industry standard. Security is necessary for me and most especially customer support as I would not want to contact support and not get response until 5 months later.

High degree of security and easy use are the most important features for me!
So I prefer the Binance!
I think the Binance is the best centralized exchange in the world!

For me the best Coin Exchange that is offering me good income return on trading are these two exchanges: Bitrexx and Binance.
They are offering trading Bots that will take care of your monitoring and will hit buy and sell automatically when you do set them into your desired settings of prices and volume.
For me, I don't want to sit whole day for monitoring and tracking the prices because the trading Bots will do the rest and you could spend all your time on other things like family and other important things like local businesses.

Indeed, Binance and other Top Coin Exchange in the market had always offer more securities unlike decentralized coins exchange in the market.
Binance is one of the highest security level today and the other more important to me is I can set trading on my favorite coins on real time even I am away on my chair because Trading Bots are doing the real time monitoring and hit Buy and Sell for my convenience.
I really do appreciate Trading Bots on Binance, Bitrexx and other Top Coin Exchanges that offers this kind of A.I.  Technology.

OP created an excellent vote. We saw that the low commission and large earnings mean much less for people than the risks associated with security. Client support is also very important. There are exchanges that generally live their own lives. They do not respond to traders, they do not respond to messages from the founders of projects that write that the project is compromised and you need to remove tokens from sales before clarifying all the circumstances. But such as IDEX continue trading.

Yes, it is indeed a very useful vote. Well, I unfortunately have not met the exchanges which have no problems with internal support, so as users very many this fact you can understand and accept.

And don't you care of what fees will be charged for deposit and withdraw, are there limits on withdrawal?

I think for a long time exchanges will be brought to perfection. While we have to settle for what we have. The most important thing is of course the issue of security I think.

It looks my votes went along with the majority. Most people think alike in terms of selecting trading platform.

I believe that #4 "Reliable reputation and positive clients feedbacks" should be included into #2 the security (the most vital concern for all respondents).

I prefer exchange that makes it easier for me to access it like easy login access, friendly interface, have good reputation from clients and have low fees when trading and withdrawing.

I think such criteria as safety, reputation, large volumes, and a large selection of crypto assets are the main criteria for choosing an exchange for traders.

just looking for trades that have high security and easy to use, because now there are a lot of new exchanges that are popping up even with the features and ways of using a little complicated. it will be a barrier to trade especially for beginners.

What if a support service would be provided by experienced users (for some "merits"). It might speed up the support. what do you think?

when choosing an exchanger, I look for the volume and the security of that exchanger. its better to check those two to avoid the scammers and losing your money. a good exchanger has those two and its the major requirements to see if an exchanger is good.

What resource do yo use to discover/check the exchange' volumes?

it is Also a must that an Exchanger is very easy to use especially for Newbies Where they can do Transaction Easily Where They can do Transaction easily and instantly. And Customer support on the other hand is a must for any exchange and any Exchange that ends up having a bad customer support pisses me off instantly. security is Necessary for me and most Especially Customer support as I would not want to contact Support, A Good exchanger has those two and its the major requirements to see if an Exchanger is Good.
