Title: HitBTC Exchange
Post by: Rhinoboy11 on February 15, 2018, 08:57:51 PM
Has anyone else ever sent their Ethereum to wrong wallet by mistake?

I did that in December and since then i have opened tonnes of tickets which go unanswered. (Well one was answered with empty promises )

About 3 weeks ago they asked me for txn which i sent. Support member said he would escalate my case to urgently to help me recover my 300$ Ethereum sent to a EBTC wallet instead of the Ether wallet address in their exchange.

one month now the ticket that was escalated to urgent has not been solved. I wonder how long it takes a non urgent tickets.

What month are we now? We are already on mid February and seeing your are complaining sincec December, what a poor support system they do have. I have tried out Hitbtc on selling out some of my tokens i havent experience any problems this is why i didnt tried out on how they do resolve issues. For now you are still lucky that they do response even though it is too long but yet you do have still chance to get those funds. For now you would need to hear out on whats their feedback about that.If they would refund or not.

Say goodbye to your ethereum or if you still think of it as cash.
Remember, there are always "warnings" with this types of transactions. It says when you input wrong address it could be loss.

If ever they will answer again it will take days until you get weary and just forget about it.
It will be a long fight. Instead of you waiting for that then, making money by restarting will be your choice.

I had tried it once too and i can i had no problem at all but i guess i didn't experienced what you are experiencing right now. They really have a poor support due to a lot of new accounts registering to them and i guess they can't take all the complaints and tickets that keep sending on to them, im hoping your case will be answered soon.

Can you give us your transaction ID and give us your ethereum wallet address...
If you send the ethereum to a wrong address its impossible to get your ethereum unless if you send it to the other altcoin..
and i think only the business owner can get the private key and that you can use to recover it via the official wallet of altcoin or where you send it..
If you still not receive any responds from their support you can try to contact it from twitter here https://twitter.com/hitbtc?lang=en

HitBTC was good but in your case I don't think so if they will turn it back to you the money because since you were depositing they asked you and you have agreed to their terms and policy. But, try harder to communicate to them.

Since you sent ETH to EBTC wallet, which is an ERC20 token, I think HitBTC will be able to help you.

However, if you accidentally deposit one currency to another’s address on HitBTC, we are most likely able to help you. For example, sending ETH tokens to your ETC address, or one token to another’s address, or BTC to USDT address - these kinds of mistakes are reversible.

Nevertheless, the correction of such mistakes requires quite an amount of labour of several people. That is not an easy process, and it requires time. Here’s how we handle it:

  • Mistakenly sent deposit is being credited to your account within 2 months after we confirm that it’s possible to do so
  • The equivalent of $100 is being deducted from the amount of that deposit.

The problem now is they don't have any confirmation. What you could do (another option) is to create a topic in their Forum (https://forum.hitbtc.com/categories/ethereum-and-eth-tokens) once and be sure to follow their Forum Rules (https://forum.hitbtc.com/discussion/8292/forum-rules-please-make-an-acquaintance). Don't miss this : "State the essence of your problem in your topic title" as it is clearly stated in the rule.

A friendly advice, don't demand them to send it back to you urgently, especially because it was your mistake. Good luck!

I heard that recently hitbtc canceled the commission to replenish the deposit. It is interesting is it true? I used to read that people transferred their tokens to this exchange and lost quite a few tokens by paying a commission.

Yup they will collect very fee high to withdraw our tokens that's why I stopped to use this site, but sometimes I have to visit because most of the new coins will 1st list in this site. so to exchange those coins I have to visit this site. but recently I have not visited let me check whether they cancelled or not.

That was a big mistake but i guess there is a chance for your ethereum to get back, keep sending message to their support even though their support system are now very poor in terms of resolving problems of the user. A year ago i also made a mistake, after a couple of exchange message from support via email, i finally get back my coins.

For withdrawal then its normal for them to charged you up but talking about deposits then they are way too greedy with this act. When you do make minimal trades or small amounts of tokens then that fee will really be a big hindrance for you to make such transactions. Its way too big for a fee and anytime you do either deposit or withdrawal then fees will really hurt you up.Going back on Op's situation the thing you need is to wait for their reply.

Ridiculous fees - both for depositing and withdrawing. They want me to pay fee for depositing money into their exchange. WTF is this?

Once i deposited Sc in it  , and took 21 days till they show that on my wallet!
i submitted 2 tickets and they respond after 2 months!
It gave me a hard time , i really try not to go there if i can buy a coin in any other exchange.

Sorry you got into such a situation but that goes without saying that the support system of hitbtc is very poor and interestingly it cuts across almost every other exchange.Probably you should follow up with more emails and even reply their official twitter tweets with your support ticket number

That is way too long to be in the support. I guess they are not really acting the way it should be.
Small or large money makes a difference.
Just like this, now they have a bad reputation for some of the users here.
But I think you will have to forget about it. Try binance and then maybe there will be changes in the you trade. Next time you will have a problem here will give you the same incident. They will just ignore it in HitBtc.

Isn't there a warning that you should check that you are sending the right token to the right address. Luckily eBTC is an ERC20 token which means it have ETH address and recoverable.

You should be careful next time, if it happens to another blockchain, it might not be recoverable.

But honestly, HitBTC have one of the worse customer service there is. I'll avoid that exchange if I have a choice.

Lol, this *(highlighted text) made me chuckle. There are a lot of crypto exchange out there.
All ERC20 Tokens can be sent to any Ethereum Address, therefore, there will be no warning because the receiving address is valid.

HitBTC's team consist of John Doe, customer support; John Doe, front-end developer;  John Doe, Software Engineer; John Doe, technical manager; John Doe, the Janitor, a one-man team.... Just joking.
I don't know why but their customer service was one of the worst among those O-K exchanges, aside from Cryptopia.
Stick to Bitfinex, verification might be a long process, but they have a good service overall.

I think most of the exchange sites now have very poor customer service support and it is hard to reach them or get a response from them. That's why we need to be more careful when sending coins to other exchanges or when withdrawing because we don't want to get through to that kind of situation.

Your post is conflicting because the transaction was made December 2017 and they responded only 3 weeks ago so lets say last week of January 2018 and you are using the word urgently? If HitBTC have the sense of urgency to help you recover that $300 worth of ETH same day of maybe 24-48 hours they could have responded with at least a confirmation that they received your concern and they are on top of it. There is no sense of urgency with "tones of tickets which do unanswered".

This is the problem with trading platforms nowadays, they don't know how to take care of their clients. If they value their clients the least that they can do is respond immediately even if they don't have the answer yet to your query. It will not take 5-10 minutes to construct a good email response that will assure clients like you that they are working on it. Good luck and I hope you can still get it back.

For i dont realg trust hitbtc as a good exchanger for our tokens and coins except from that that they dont reply on our complaint there website also very easy to hack i think there security measure is not good. The reason why i gave them a bad comment since i have an acount in hitbtc (lucky dont have enough balance to withdraw) lol! And i always found out in my email that some hacker succesfully log in my acount in defirent part of the world. And one thing that i dont like hitbtc is you cant sell some of your token or coins if lower than 10 pcs ( ex. 5 doge ) you cant sell it forever.grrrrr

Beside there are a lot of other better exchange like Bittrex, Bitfinex or Binance so I don't think everyone will choose HitBTC to trade if it's not the only choice they can choose cause it's the only exchange listed their token on it :)

That is what difficult is, when about depositing. I think you are drunk that time or what lol.. but you can see there that before depositing you coin or token there are clearn and more larger letter and numbers. So how come? Next time be careful, before you copy the address make sure what is the name of the token you see is the same there. It's already February now and I think this is hard to both of you.

Hitbtc exchange is not a very bad exchange, the only problem is that they have a poor methodology and a bad support system. But in most cases, the problem could be from you, in most cases, people could mistakenly deposit in a wrong address and that's irrevocable.  If that's not so, then I blame it on the support team.

HitBTC will always be good until you get nabbed. One bad thing about any exchange is having an issue and not being able to have anyone to give you a solution to problem, at least giving you a response that your issue cannot be solved is even good enough, but no, you are just strictly on your own. He should not waste his energy or strength trying harder to communicate to them, he will only get a reply if he is the most lucky man on earth.

The status remain pending about two days. And i ask assistance to hitbtc helpdesk, but i don't recieve any answer from them, then the next morning i check my account. About 3 weeks ago they asked me for txn which i sent and i told they would urgently help me recover my 300$ Ethereum sent to EBTC wallet instead of the Ether wallet address in the exchange
I also had bad experience in hitbtc, I don't know if its
my fault but last December, I trade my tokens using that site, but since the token which shall i used to withdraw was not successfully processed to my other bitcoin wallet. The status remain pending about two days. And i ask assistance to hitbtc helpdesk, but i don't recieve any answer from them, then the next morning i check my account. Its already empty and based on the history, someone withdraw my money and transfer to other site. and i cannot retrieve back my money because it was already tranferred to other account. Confusions on my part about their security,  How does those things happen well infact i never shared my account and pin no. to anybody...
That hurts mate, it's a serious problem and that means their security is really weak.
I did not experience that so far but sometimes my withdrawal is pending for more than a day and I feel unsecured with that kind
of processing period since most trading sites process the withdrawal instantly regardless of the amount.

In hitbtc their maker and taker concept is really good and also its a good platform when it comes to new coins, they all are available at one place. But once I had a lot of problem with my TRX transfer, it did not hit my account for over a month and the price had increased three fold and I was unable to sell it off. After raising tickets several times I got a response from their side and my TRX was also credited

Its really sad how bad some exchanges respond to people's issues. You said since last year and it have not been resolved till date. Guys should be careful on the type of exchange they put their money to. To avoid unnecessary loss.

In my opinion this is one of the good exchange, i used it about since 2 years but so far i dont get any problem with this exchange. All exchange can not to recover if you make mistake when sending to wrong address, so just make sure when sending any coin to right address by test small amount first.

Withdrawal fee is a problem on HitBTC Exchange. They do have some good feedback and some bad feedback. I would prefer to trade on Bittrex and Binance. I think these exchanges are better.

I've been waiting for a deposit to arrive for more than 2 weeks and they did not respond to any of my tickets, and I have sent everything correctly. Now imagine how much time it would take to solve your problem manually.
Here is their topic, try messaging him, but I doubt it will help: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=378827.0

Yes, I do not even know what grade to put, because I have never lost money and I successfully traded. Even in spite of the fact that 2 fa are already connected, my account was unauthorizedly visited by strangers.

I still make good deals on HitBTC. I only have one problem: the withdrawal of bitcoin on the wallet is quite slow and I am sending support from the HitBTC manager. I believe HitBTC is a big business and they know how to please investors because if they lose investors they will lose everything.

There is no problem with hitbtc since I used it for my alternative exchange. It is one of the major exchange you know. Those who vote hitbtc is a bad exchange actually did something wrong. and make sure you do not send repeated complaints emails because your ticket will continue to be in the lowest queue if you do. Remember, they not only have to settle 1 complaint but hundreds or even thousands.

I think that's not a problem of support what happened to you because every time you deposit a wallet you have to put it there that I should ethereum the only money you'll need to ethereum just when you send the payment so next time you'll be double careful just because it does not work that way.

He should really say goodbye and move on. No one can actually pursue what is gone. This is one of the shitty exchanges that we have so far. Also, he really does not have to bother himself with the idea of them replying, because they never will, I am sure their support house got burnt a long time ago and all the support staff disappeared;D. (kidding though), but really all he has left now is just to move to a better exchange and start all over.

When you hear the name HitBTC and you use the platform, and then you are really going to get hit in the long run which is the problem you are having now even though the fault is a little bit from your side. Also, this is just a tip, if you also hear the name Yobit, run for your dear life. These exchanges are shit exchanges with no support and if anything goes wrong, just accept your fate and move on.

So far I have not tried sending a coin to an incorrect wallet address because I always check a couple of times before confirming the transaction. I make it a point that I have entered the correct one because I don’t want to go through like those other people who are having issues with the customer service.

I also use this exchange in 2016 and actually this exchange has a lot of good features. This exchange is the choice for ICO projects as most small projects to large projects always choose HitBTC as the first choice. I think in the future HitBTC can compete with many big exchanges and will be the rival of Binance in the future

Better doing this before dealing with exchange, the service personnel will have to look at it for such a long time, we should need to be very careful
as it's not their problem but it was our mistake, I think we should wait if ever things like this happen to us, patience and more of it while waiting for
any comply from the exchange itself.

I use HitBTC for buying Tokens since it is the only market for Ethereum tokens, second to Etherdelta. I like its design and simplicity of HitBTC. However, the fees when depositing and withdraw are pretty ridiculous, they charge roughly $16 when withdrawing tokens.

Good thing you got a response. :o

You need some patience here because in the first place, you are the one who did some mistake. Since it was happened on December and still no actions, you need MORE patience. According to them it will takes 2 months before they can credit again the amount that was sent wrongly in an address if it's possible for them to extract it. Because that is HitBTC , extend that 2 months to another 2 months lol.

You should also considered the amount as loss already so that it will not make you think all of the time. Hope you can get the amount.

P.S Don't expect that same amount will be credited. There is a deduction afaik.

The OP was the one who made the mistake anyway and I think that it is not the exchanges fault if it will take awhile. There are reminders to check the address we use for sending and make sure that it is the wrong one. Their customer service is bad because I have also encountered a problem here when my withdrawal took weeks before processed and I was really worried that it will not be able to get it in the end. I did not receive any reply from the customer service so it was a good thing that the OP receive one.

The lesson here is to check everything before confirming because we all know how hard it is to tract transactions, what more if it is to recover what is wrongly sent.

I also used HITBTC because the site is more faster to load than Etherdelta. It just make me nervous if I am processing good amounts because there are security issues and trust issues about HitBTC.

Well it can be if they just remove the deposit fee and lessen the withdrawal fee like it's so absurd to think and they like some hold up group. I love hitbtc before but with this new scheme I just better try some major exchanges without annoying fees.

Good for OP that at least he still can recover his eth even though it takes for months, better than this than nothing. More than that, their support really sucks.

HitBTC has always known to have problems with support, the only reason why some people use them is because they have a lot of shitcoins and because of the pump and dump market, a lot of new traders just like trading on the site, otherwise, I do not see any reason why anyone will decide to trade on a platform that has no support and even despite all that the community keeps saying about exchanges like this.

Not sure which exchange you are talking about but wrong token on HITBTC does not get lost.
They are able to retrieve it and take 100$ off it as a fee.
Following my ether that was sent in the wrong address it showed that it was transferred same day to somewhere else obviously by the staff as a procedure or just a staff that stole it.

The moment I signed up and tested it there is a problem already.
Deposit fee. This is something new for an exchange. They are the unique one for doing such a greedy service.
I aint going to give them a part of my valuable coin for free.

Thieves. That is all I can say to that exchange. It will go down, and soon the owner of that will be in jail.

Yes, and that is most weird and shocking for me that deposit and withdrawal fees can change within a few days without any reason, for 600 COV deposit fee was about 10% for example.

Yes as i know etherium has no cross chain which can be sent to another blockchain so i think its lost forever.
But lets say if suport can help you with this then you are very lucky person. So you must learn from this mistake mate.
