I would say 4GB of ram would be enough for NVidia cards, for example I have a rig with 6 units of nv gtx 1080ti and 4GB is quite ok for it, as for amd cards it is not so, as I heard, depends on what you intend to mine, but generally 8GB for amd is better.. Tried 8GB and there was zero difference.

Yes, it is enough, even with Window, a clean Window (not with a lot of resident utility to start at the startup).But the best of all is to use Ubuntu : no more memory issues, no more issues with the number og GPU, hashrate increase, no automatic reboots, no reboot during hours... and so on....
