The DAO is a great example that proves that ETH is in a way centralized, but I still think that the failure of one badly-written smart contract shouldn't be used to judge all smart contracts. Ethereum is faced with several computer science problems that haven´t been solved in decades and are possibly unsolvable. However, ethereum will cover a lot of grounds in catching up with bitcoin. The reason is that bitcoin is still seen as a major means of payment while ethereum is seen as a means of token investment majorly.

I heard a lot of similar opinions right after Ethereum was launched and last year. It looks like Bitcoin will stay with us for a while. Ethereum isn't as good as you think. The whole network slows down every time there is a huge ICO. Do you remember what happened after CryptoKitties were released? Transactions became 3 times more expensive and you had to wait quite a long time to have your transaction included in the block.

It is the 1st crypto to be known and it is considered as the store of value. many coins are there which beats bitcoin in features but that does not make them superior to bitcoin.
Ethereum has its use cases far more than bitcoin and many new use cases features will be coming in future. built I don't think it can dethrone bitcoin at least as of now. I think because of the issues in different countries involving Bitcoin it became more popular now and are also being used by merchants despite the fact that the transaction fees were quite high recently. If Etherium would eventually have the same rate as Bitcoin then there's a chance that ETH could take over Bitcoin's position but for now that's obviously negative. For such a long time, I could not bring myself to buy Ethereum or even store it, even when Bitcoin was having such problems with high fees and transactions. I know people call me stupid around my networks for thinking like this, but this is the point I do not like. Bitcoin has many threats, but they are all indirect and can be overcome. I see Eth's centralized leadership exactly as the point of failure I dare not gamble on. So yes, today I have a bit of ETH, but I do not see me having it in two years. So I think ETH will start off losing ground on bitcoin before recovering. In my conclusion i think speculation at this point is rather useless since most of the coins are in red today, speculation might become relevant only when the market becomes healthy again and trading volume across the entire market become high again, overall based on latest market prices i think bitcoin will still dominate the crypto market during this year.

BTC is still the better long term bet compared to ETH, and has a lot more real life usage. Plus, last year, ETH was already pumped extremely hard, which means that prices are going to correct harder this year compared to BTC. I know that ethereum had been pushing hard to reach what they had today as their smart contract had been the heart of ERC20 base ICOs. But it's not enough to dominate the market and beat bitcoin in the first place. There are few logical reasons behind this statement which are that Bitcoin has a high margin for profit and the ratio at which there occur a rise in the values of the Bitcoin is far more than that at which the values of ETH rises. Although downtrend dominated the market this year, Bitcoin and other cryptosbare affected not only Bitcoin so logically, nothing's change on the rankings of the cryptos in the market since all cryptos have proportionally fell this year.
