Title: How to check if ICO is scam or not?
Post by: cryptonerd42 on February 19, 2018, 11:00:35 AM
Hey guys, I'm new to the whole ICO world, and BTCtalk as well. I've been reading about a lot of scammy ICOs that take people's money and run away. I'm looking to invest in a couple of ICOs but have no way of knowing if they are good or not. Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this without losing any money?

There isn't a sure shot way of knowing whether an ICO is legit or not. But you can definitely follow these things:

1) See if they have a nice and technically sound whitepaper. Whitepaper says a lot about an ICO.
2) Do a background check on the team. If they aren't visible on the internet, they have things to hide.
3) If an ICO has unrealistic expectations out of their token offerings, it means they haven't done their research properly. Shows a lack of dedication and planning.
4) See the advisory board. Big people means good ICO. No big shot advisor would want to be seen as a scammer.

For example, a new ICO is coming up. I stumbled upon them through some site. These guys are trying to make good use of blockchain. If you look at their site, it's clean and clear. Their whitepaper is very descriptive. Also, all the founders can be found on the net. It's a good initiative. Check 'em out here - http://enkidu.io/

As the person the top of me said, there isn't a sure way to define is any ICO is scam or not. But sure you can lower the risk by researching about them. Like, you can check the team is there any real profile anywhere, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter. Is the company public or they are below the radar, do they have massive posts and advertising and etc. If they are trying to scam someone, they wont be public

Lots of words cam be said about team,  road map,  plan and so on.  What I'm paying much attention to is how much money an ICO  wants to gain.  If it is too much for their product,  then I stay away.

The key is reading in the whitepaper background of the team and the project plans. Read about every detail. You can tell whether it is a scam. Invest in ICOs like NTOK the one i'm campaigning for.

We cannot directly notice if certain business we entered is a scam, we can notice only in the future transactions, for example if we made a certain transactions and the persons you made a transactions are totally missing after you've done a business payments. There are some few tips on how to know scammers, try to view their business links and profile.

I don't think that it is easy to identify whether a particular ICO is scam or legit.  In actual to be a ICO scam or legit there may be two things . May be the ICO owner may collect money and run away and may be in the starting the mentilty of the team is to scam but due to high collection they they changed Thier mind and are thinking to list Thier coin with the help of money paper at the exchange .
But here now in current times scam from ICOs now decreasing and most of the ICOs are launching Thier coins at the exchange .
Here currently in my opinion the best thing is that to analysis yourself and also make discussion at better better paltforms to make better discussion about that ICO to make sure whether is anything wrong in the ICO or not .

Most of it was said by the first person who commented, GBCrypto1. One more thing you could add to your list is if they are openly promoting themselves. More promotion means more people looking at you. Enkidu is currently not so famous. I did a search on these guys. They were very few places they were listed on. So, you can't be sure if they are good. You can try putting small amounts of money in. And later you can increase your investments if it goes well. I usually do this for most ICOs.

Many times it's hard to tell whether an ICO project is a hoax.
I think you can judge by the group number of telegram of this ICO project, and then check whether the team has a bad record, whether the ICO project is open source.

If you see ico's dont invest if you dont read, before you invest read it the white paper look if how many people are included in the project so that you will see if the ico is good or not.

Best to check the information about the whole team, if they are real people and that they have the experience that is relevant to the project they are into. Also, investigate the concept and technicality of the project, if there is a market for that kind and if its not a clone or copy of previous similar projects. You have to dig deeper if you really want to secure your investment.

Investing in ICOs is one of the most difficult decisions. Of course we know that the money we earn depends on it. So should we really be critical to our joining the ICO. My ground to know it is their transparency. And how many people joined their ICO

Welcome to the forum. Read those ICO's very well, nowadays its hard to know what are the legit and real ICO's but you need to research and know almost everything about that ICO that gets your interest. That's the only thing that you do and don't be shy of asking questions about that ICO and get others opinion about it although not all does have that feeling of certainty about ICO's.

You can always check the feed backs in their campaign thread or other related thread since most people who gives their opinion there are real and unbiased people. Also I tend to search the net regarding the ICO and its team wether their profiles are real or not.

It is impossible to be 100 % sure if given ICO is a scam or not. The best thing that you can do is to lower the level of uncertainty. For me, when I consider an ICO I check the whitepaper, check the team !!!, also check if there is an opinion in the forum regarding this ICO. Also I check the amount of cash that the ICO has already collect and mostly, I check in the whitepaper how the tokens will be used once the platform of the ICO is life.

How to check if ICO is scam or not? Well you should research the  ICO and look for sime projects that are a success. There you would see if the ICO is a scam or not.

For me you should do a lot of studying, researching and analyzing to determine if the ICO your joining is not a scam. Joining ICO's are very risky because even though they have a good white papers and projects, they might look promising, but in the end they will also end up nothing. Experience plays a vital role in determining a good and bad ICO.

Well, there are way to find that the ICO's is one of the scammer or not. In the ico. There are many projects think about if it is really believable or not. Also see if there are many members too and last one you do just do surveying in the ICO you want. Collect some data if it is scam or not so for me this is my way to know if the ICO is scam or not

I agree with you on 200%. In addition, I will say that it is worth checking the marketing plan. Important is the soft cap and hard cap, as it makes it clear that they are pursuing. How much goes on pre-sale, how much to sell, what part of the funds will go to the development and the team, how often they will distribute them, etc. For example, I try not to participate in ICO, in which there is no hard cap and a large percentage of the team. In general, white paper should have a separate chapter on the allocation of funds. But this is not exactly true, as everyone likes to say in the crypto community.

you should check overall of what the developers say. everything must be learned for research in order to make sure the ico is good or leads to a scam.
everything you have to analyze, then you compare with other ico.

For a beginner like you, it is very difficult to distinguish or learn an ico being held. I think you are still far away for that stage. you should first find various knowledge about crypto. try to find various discussions on many threads in this forum

There is no one way of checking it, as many have posted already in response to your query. But risk management would tell you to do a background check of a potential ICO, try to see if they have a lot public profile in a social medias (e.g. twitter, facebook, etc.). If they are not found in those platforms then they are hiding something and must be plotting something not good.
Also try to to check big names in the industry, big shots don't wish their names tarnished and so scam operations is the least of their priorities.

Read the whitepaper! If there no white paper, or they will release it later, wait untill its out. Seriouse project always have their whitepaper before they start or promote for the ICO. Meanwhile you can do some researches about the icio. Look what other people think on telegram or on this forum. Mostly when it is a scam project, you will know it very fast when you lookin at this forum. And at least check the devs and team members. Are they seriouse people with a good background or some seedy peope with questionable past?

There is really no measure how to know if ICO is legit or not. There are of course scammers who are good enough to deceive people. But here's what you should do at least spot one, IMO.

1. Know the team and check them on LinkedIn.
2. Read their White Paper and check for if any:
   2.1 Unrealistic vision/goal
   2.2 Not using real pictures

3. Check if there is source code of their project available on GitHub.

I think the general crypto public are becoming much better at spotting fake ICO's. For me, the whitepaper being well written along with a transparent team are the keys. Can you talk to the team? Are they public figures with long standing careers, or better still, university professors?

An MVP before going to sale always helps also.

There is no surest ways to define whether ICO project will be profitable or not. I rely on the people who organized and will develop this project. Their famous names as a guaranties for me. This is one of the ways.

you can read the whitepapper and the roadmap of the project, do not forget also the team composition of the project can be used as the main benchmark to determine whether ico scam or not. so I think a lot of things that we have to study for maximum results and we are not stuck in a scam ico.

you can identified faked ICO by research in many ways. First the team which is behind the project, is technically experienced or not and also available on internet with real name or not. Second by the reading of white paper of the promising ICO, third how much publicity they are supposed in the market, fourth the opinions of people who already involve in ICO.
By doing these things you can find good ICO.

Still there are ICO, which immediately offer masternods and immediately promise an income from them. But they do not explain clearly why their community token is needed. It is also better to avoid such projects.

This is a good start for you if you want to end up a responsible ICO investor. Here are the things you need to do first before finally deciding whether or not you will invest in an ICO.

1. Read and understand the Whitepaper. Meaning, you have to know their goals, their plans as to how to meet them, their roadmap, their team, partners, and so on and so forth.
2. Go to their website and check whether they are functioning well.
3. Go to their ANN thread here and know whether the developers are responsive enough to clarify questions and concerns regarding their project.
4. Raise questions to them and wait for their response.

This is also the way I check the ICO and also we should also see their partnership. They say when it's too good to be true then it must be a scam however, sometimes it's actually hard to spot the one because sometimes they pretend to be a legit one from their whitepaper to roadmap, doing all those stuff just to become a good one. That's why investing in an ICO isn't a big joke or if you really want to play safe just wait the ICO to be over and buy when it gets listed in exchanges.

10 keys for evaluating Initial Coin Offering (ICO) investments

Below are the keys for determining whether an ICO is scam or not, in order to make a buying decision, as far as I know:

1: Team Composition (development team and advisory board)

2: Threads on Bitcointalk.org

3: Stage of the project and Venture capital investments

4: Community and Media (check its community on Slack channel, for example)

5: What do they need the token for? Is the blockchain necessary?

6: Unlimited / Hard cap

7: Token distribution – when and how

8: Evaluating the Whitepaper

9: Quality of the code – Meet Github

10: Research more and more

I will focus on a few of the more important factors, the first is whether there is open source code gtihub, second the team have a bad record, third, how much is the ICO project hard hat, fourth, the ICO project from which country (normally I would avoid the ICO project in Europe and Russia)

You have asked one of the most difficult questions to answer in the digital crypto world. First of all, you are right! There are ICOs that are so scammy. The just dupe money from innocent guys and then run away with the money. Checking for the legitimacy of an ICO is a tricky but very important thing to do before joining them.
First, check when the project started, some projects just starts in a few weeks and then start to sell their coins. Some also start developing for as long as half a year and beyond before they come out with a good plan on how to run the project.
You must perform your background check on project developers and advisors. Follow their community group discussion and it will help you to know what is at stake with the project.
Never forget to be mindful of the nature of the project. Some projects are notably successful so many people like to wait for a project of its kind.
Read their white paper as well to know and have an insight into the project. There are many other ways apart from these so just follow the replies given by other members below

The easiest way to find out if it's a scam is to look at the team members, are they known faces, real people with a linkedin page etc? If not, avoid like the plague.

Another simple metric is to look at whether they have a physical headquarters, indicating that they are a big company, and whether big media outlets are publishing their adverts. Normally only the most trusted ICOs have physical billboard adverts.

Before investing in ICO, you need to carefully study the idea and the team. You also need to ask all the questions of interest and look at the reviews of other experienced investors.

You can only make thorough research on an ico and with the basis of your research, you take calculated risk by investing into the project.

Making research consists of

The team
The white paper
The token metrics
The website.

Etc

my first ico investment was Tokenomy.
With 0.5 BTC minimum contribution, this is my biggest investment ever.
why i believe in Tokenomy is just simple
1.Strong team > Tokenomy team consists of people who are behind Bitcoin.co.id , a largest Indonesia and ASEAN crypto exchange with 1 million member and went online since 2013
2.Strong advisor > their have advisors from east ventures VC , waves , and many more
3.Strong products that able to deliver > Tokenomy (TEN) token will goes live at Q2 , and and tokenomy will serve as a  Crypto Exchange platform and Tokenized (ICO) platform . As sister company of Bitcoin.co.id, Tokenomy have potential 1 million member when goes live that comes from Bitcoin.co.id members
4.Solve real problems > Tokenomy try to solve simple problem,  Which is good and able to deliver. As we know, organizing ICO is very painful, you need to invest in tech and legal. and they at least provide it. Why need to solve high tech thing if it needs months or years to develop? are we lack of simple problems to solve?

so with 110 million circulation supply and today prices are 0.4-0.5 USD, they have a lot of rooms to grow

With 100% probability it is impossible to determine the Scam or not. But to minimize the risk you need to carry out a detailed analysis of the project:

1. To explore the idea of the project, WhitePaper, RoadMap.
2. Is there a prototype of a project or an existing business?
3. To study the project website, learn SoftCap, HardCap.
4. Evaluate the team's activity in the topic of the announcement and in social networks.
5. Was there a Pre-Sale and how successfully?
6. To get acquainted with the project team, with their pages in social networks.
7. Are there any known list of stock exchanges where listing is planned?

I think it's important to know whether the ICO project is trustworthy or not, always see the whitepaper, roadmap and team profile of the ICO project, because in the project whitepaper you can see the idea of the project, if it is plagiarism and team profile also false, then certainly the project is just a scam project

Scammers are easy to find out. First of all they try by all means to hide their true identities. But there are a few things that will always appear sketchy for Scam ICOs;

1. Their whitepaper at most will not by clear or rather the English will not be good as they often do their things in an abrupt way, though some now tend to be more organised.
2. If you do background checks of the teams behind the project as will be listed on the website or their whitepaper, most of them use fake identities or to some extent fictitious characters.
3. They do not often stick to their laid our road map.
4. You will often realize after they run away with your investment ???

agree, you should look carefully at the language they use in their whitepaper and roadmaps. and i would recommend you to look at the team members, maybe to google some extra information about them and check if they are real.

In order to understand what ICO project is in front of you, the first thing you need to take is to read the white sheet. Next, you need to get acquainted with the team that is working on this project. In order to participate in the bounty company of this project, you also need to. view how much interest or what amount is allocated to the bounty company. The most important thing is to understand whether anyone needs this project at all.

In my opinion ICO must have the face! It is the first one. Team must be real.
Also, announcements, they must be, sometimes I find some few information official Twitter/Facebook pages and noname Website, so I wouldn't invest in something like that. Everything must be transparent, remember it. It doesn't mean simple, but it mustn't have underwater rocks.

Right now ICO can be a rip-off if the people who's developing the coin or token are nameless or they are hiding their genuine identity, another is while the records regarding their challenge is a replica from different initiatives just like the roadmap, whitepaper, or maybe their website online is similar to a domain that has already been offline.

I agree with some of your points. Among the points that you mentioned, I feel that the points 1 and 3 are the most important ones when compared to the rest.

- Whitepaper: An ICO with a comprehensive whitepaper is usually legitimate
- Roadmap: An ICO that has planned everything in advance through a detailed roadmap is worth checking out
- Softcap and Hardcap: An ICO that has optimal softcap and hardcap requirements(Based on bull or bear market) seems legit in my opinion

Apart from these points, the developer team and their social media interactions also play a big role in determining whether a particular ICO is worth investing into or not.

Doing a research is very important for you to avoid scam ICO's. First you need to research the team of the project if they are real or only using fake identity. Try to search their youtube videos promoting the project like their meetings on their project partners, etc. And next is the product, ask yourself first if the project looks promising and possible to succeed or not? You must need to analyze that because your investment depends on that. Observe first before you decide to invest.

2. Who is the development team, ICO almost depends on team leader!

i guess the best way to check if an ICO is a scam is to check the number of members in their telegram group. If you seeaybe more than 3000 members it has the chance that it is not a scam. Another way is to see their white paper, if it is clean and well presented then there is a possiblity that it is not a scam.

There are a lot of different factors. I usually look at the community stats, the whitepaper, product development, rating websites. The most useful information you can get from the token sale progress and from the developers of a particular ICO. Just talk to them and you will see it.

if you really want to invest, and do not want to be hit by a scam, yes you have to check all the sites that are related to a project, whether the project is clear where it is or only one person is running it, because we have to examine everything in advance.

The first thing you need to look at when choosing a project is the team namely their links in social networks and it is desirable to check whether the information provided on the site is the same as the reality. Some scammers usually take other people's photos and pass them off as their own, it's easy to check

Right. Sometimes it's not entirely the fault of the company. There are many factors that lead to failure, and it's possible that at the beginning it's not a phishing project, but for some reason it has become.

You cannot check it and find out the scam ICO just by checking. You must conduct some research about the ICO company.
The common thing to research is the profile team and the project itself. If it has some red flags, just leave that ICO.

Rating sites and the project site is exactly what will help to determine the quality of the ICO. No other way. also, this can greatly help the public opinion and the documents that the creators provide to potential investors

1. I read white paper
2. I evaluate the quality of the site
3. It is necessary to evaluate the idea that the team is trying to bring to life
4. Get acquainted with the composition of the team, evaluate their previous experience.
These are basic concepts that you need to read. You can also pay attention to the community, twitter, Facebook, telegram channel. Often the participants of such groups are fake.

Every ICO has their own projects the platforms and where the coins are going to use etc. and they have their own problem to solve using their project or coins so to check if the ICO is a scam check their whitepaper, check hoq they will solve the problem and see for yourselves.

The team, community, etc. is secondary.

Unfortunately, even a very experienced investor will not be able to distinguish a really good ICO, which will be implemented in the market in the future and bring profit. And for beginners, I think it is generally an impossible task. The only advice is to study the market and be careful and cautious when investing your personal money.

Investing in ICO is indeed a very good investment. And all that also depends on the whole ICO project. How to check whether ICO is a scam. Actually that can be said to be difficult, because now many ICO projects are really good but when the sales are finished they disappear and the project is well managed. You must see and analyze the whole project, it can be from the team and others.

There is no strait jacket method for checking a scam project. In fact, some scam projects are carefully planned in such a way that all researches will prove futile. One of the ways to check out for scam projects include the making of extensive research into the profiles of the team members - sometimes what the team members may present as credentials may not be real and this can be ascertained through a follow up on their social media accounts, checking for coherence in information.

First look at the team, then find some of persons from team on social and ask then about this projet, if they say you what they hear about it first time ))) you know what need to do.
Then analyze idea, look for altenatives and compare features, find the bestest
really, the strength of the team, the strength of partnerships, functions, needs, and also competition need to be reviewed, and repeatedly to ensure that the team really does work well, and professionally. sometimes a good team has made 70% authentic.
A popular team means if there can be defined as a reliable ico. But remember we can take bittorrent as an example of how the ico which was having a real product can give us the best ico. those bittorrent buyers are getting tons of money from ico instantly.

Yes, I am very careful to invest in the ICO now, because many ICOs are cheating Investors, and I want to ask about the ICO MCB project, is the project a SCAM? because I was interested in the project.

I run an airdrop faucet...
you can see that it is not scam because members are paid if they ask payout.
Have a look and you will see from yourself because every thing is open and clear.

Claim few times...sell your tokens and ask a payout.

You can’t be 100% sure of the ICO, but in order to reduce the risks you need to check the team, the project itself and the white paper!

I think that only by experience can people really get something, because otherwise I can’t imagine what happens if people continue to invest in projects that are not going to do anything. The cryptocurrency market will simply miss this opportunity.

The most important is to check credibility of development team whitepaper and all numbers.
To check people behind project i look for theit LinkedIn profils and do their pictures do not belong to someone else. Also very important at the beginning is to check if they didn't use text of whitepaper from other project. To check this things I use this tool: https://www.duplichecker.com/

it is very difficult to identify, because ico cannot be said to be a scam or not at the beginning of the period. we can conclude when at the end of the ico or in the middle with some irregularities. for example a team that runs away, a project that does not fit the road map and a whitepaper for reasons why they are fooling investors and participants and then they bring the money.

in my opinion to check ICO is scam or not very difficult, because we certainly know the ICO is a scam or not after the ICO is finished, so if we want to invest in ICO it is very difficult to know the ICO is scam or not, therefore I would rather invest on altcoins that are already list in coinmarketcap compared to investing in ICO, because investing in ICO has a big risk.

There are many ways to find out that ICO is a scam. You can see it by checking the background of admins and founders. Here you will see if they are transparent and they are true of their project.

All investment is risky so you should study it carefully so you do not lose the money you earn.

Usually the trusted ICO certainly has a verified team. With that, it is likely that ICO scam is very low. But for a successful and good ICO, of course you have to analyze more deeply to find out whether the ICO is successful or not. So it all depends on our decision. If you want to invest.

There are lots of ICOs in the market but it seems hard to find a genuine ICO as there are many fake ICOs going on. It is very important to have knowledge to what we are dealing with and do research in order to be guided accordingly. Read the company whitepaper to know more about their vision, mission, roadmap, team, team’s qualification. Browsing social media pages can also keep us in touch and be aware with their social media pages and keep an eye to the activities like events, and token sale.

I think there are solid guidelines when investing in an ICO. Make sure you research the team and their jurisdiction, to ensure they are not violating any laws. Also, make sure you read the whitepaper and find if the ideas in it make sense. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose, and also realize there are plenty of good coins, making some of the newer coins pointless.

for investment in ICO there is no specific guideline to be able to find out whetherico is a scam or not because many of their cases are only good when in the initial game they are very responsive, and after reaching the softcap target they begin to ignore investors and start to move away, many cases like that .

I will rather advice to stay away from ICO till it got listed on exchange as the bear market still have a very large impact on the price even after listed on exchange to drop and that will even be a change to buy more than what you will buy at ICO stage to have a good start and looking in to the team and what the project is all about is another thing to look out for and how well the community is willing to use or support the project is another significant potential to make it big.

it is difficult to know whether the ICO was scam or not, especially when the ICO took place sometimes it was not according to their plans and some of them stopped. I can't guarantee that but at least we need to examine the overall contents of the project and how the team experiences in managing the project beforehand.

No one will advise 100% successful ico. Of course, you can understand all technical documents for a long time, communicate with the team, pay attention to partners, but there is no 100% guarantee. The only thing I can advise is to see how hardcap quickly assembled. If hardcap meets in a matter of days or even hours, then, in my opinion, this is a worthwhile project.

but stops after not hitting the cap and making the project discontinue.

You can’t check it out. Because most of the fraudsters cheaters. They use advertising tricks, make good websites, show that they have already collected a lot of money.

Now it is too difficult to cure a quality project from fraudsters.

You should check carefully for its team, roadmap and partner. Besides, ICO projects are too ambitious and too hardcap and softcap will not be a reliable project.
Usually scam projects put out very hardcap and softcap. Please check it carefully and go to the Icodrops website for more details.

Scammy ICO generally does not provide any information about the development team, or there is very little information. Therefore, first of all it is necessary to study the information about the project team.

The only way to know that a project is scam or not is knowledge. You have to know how to detect good ico. For that you have to choose one ico then first you have to check the information like team, project summary, website, total allocation, allocation for team marketing strategy and partnership. Then you have to crosscheck them. There is many website who provide this kind of information. Icoanalyctic is the best for that in my opinion. Then you have to read white paper this is the most important part. You have to read it carefully have to check strategy and the roadmap. And last it is really hard to identify good project sometimes. So just do your own research don't go with others peoples trash talk.

Checking if an ICO is a scam or not does not have a specific guideline or underlining features that categorizing the project to be either scam or not. It will be better to invest into ICO project with workable products backing it. But I will also advice you to spend some time to read about the ICO project and understand the purpose of it before you decide to invest your hard earned income into it. You can easily lose your money within the matter of seconds.

I agree on these points, but I would like to add that not every great project had big people as advisers. It is more about the demand for the product/service the project is going to provide, the quality of the whitepaper and the competence of the team.

However, I can only SUGGEST checking Cyptolinks, with their Upcoming ICOs sites (https://cryptolinks.com/ico), as that’s where you can find the right options easily. And that pretty much solves the issue most face. Now some may ask I simply want to know status of that said coin, I believe you should NEVER invest into one that’s unknown!

In the event that there no white paper, or they will discharge it later, hold up untill its out. Serious venture dependably have their whitepaper before they begin or advance for the ICO. In the mean time you can do a few investigates about the ICO team. Look what other individuals think on wire or on this gathering. For the most part when it is a trick venture, you will know it quick when you looking at this gathering.

Not only beginners who experience difficulties, even seniors are still many who are trapped, because it is difficult to guess. In this case, you should need deep analysis. You can check their official website and white paper. You can also check their social media activities. Find out their team members and see how much potential the project is.

Some ICO teams have devised so many ways to evade detection. Although, if we can be patient enough to make our findings, the better.
A genuine team will only give a guarantee of a fraud free ICO.
While a good product can guarantee the continuity and success of the project.

Things are very complicated these days even more trusted ICO projects fail, you can check their white paper or roadmap and try researching their sites also social media. Have a look about the team and it's development this will surely give you a clear idea analyze as much as you can and hopefully you will find it.

Investing in ICO is indeed very risky. That's because almost all ICOs are scam and have no uses. Actually it is very difficult to know whether the ICO is good for use or not. But what is usually done to find out is to do deepening in detail such as checking the whitepaper, team, and and the number of followers. But it's usually beyond expectations. There are ICOs that fail before entering the market, but there are also ICOs who can enter the market but cannot compete and eventually die. This is very difficult, if you want to get a better advantage to choose coins that really have good development, this will provide certainty.

Choosing an ICO is hard task nowaday, because number of scam projects is high. But if you can selecting good project you will gain profit. You can check the whitepaper of the project it cointains many information that you need. From the team, goals & product.

Of the many ICOs that cheat a lot, we must avoid it, they just want to get their own benefits and harm many people. The way to avoid this is to analyze several important elements of a project, maybe there are already many people here who say it. In my opinion by looking at the Team, a complete website, products and distribution of tokens, there are still many and you have to find out for yourself more effectively.

yes,at least if we are researched in choosing projects then we can minimize mistakes in choosing even though it will not completely prevent us from fraudsters.
so you should not be lazy to analyze every aspect of the ICO.

Usually I observe the project team, if I find something strange. I will definitely start to be suspicious of the project. whether it's a good project or not as long as their team has original data I don't think it's a scam project. so the first thing you have to observe is the project team.

I think it's easy to identify! If the amount of money they are needing is not justifiable enough for you to distrust and not invest. Failure to meet deadlines can also be another possibility or fraud in your documents or in the people involved.

Few things to analyze; Project, team and their profiles, amount allocated, infrasturcture is in place, partnership and how long they are into their business. Spend enough time in getting these details checked. These would certainly finalyze if the ICO is a scam or a legit. We did and do have scam ICOs as like legit ones.

I'm looking to invest in a couple of ICOs but have no way of knowing if they are good or not. Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this without losing any money?

Now even experienced investors find it difficult to distinguish fraudulent projects from good projects. Therefore, it makes sense not to invest in new projects at the ICO stage, but to buy coins immediately after their release on the exchanges.

This statement is the mission impossible in ICO investments. There is no way it will guarantee that you wont loss a single penny when investing, even if you say that a certain project is legit, it doesnt take away the risks that it may fail at some point and lost all what you have invested. Thats why theres a saying " invest what you can afford to lose" is a popular line here.

There are many ways in which one can identify whether all this new projects are legitimate or not. There is need for you to conduct a research on the ICO which you want to invest your money a and your research should cover the following areas such as the LinkdIn profile as to whether the name of the team tally with the pictures, are they register company? If yes in which country etc before you invest your money.

And now the market cap of this market is low, and I think there is a lot of scam ICO campaign appear and you should wait until the recovery to continue to investing in ICO. I agree that this forum has been the best place to check if an ICO is a scam or not. There are volunteers who are willing to spend their time for the sake of the community, they aren't paid with what they have been doing for busting out scam ICO's. Always look to the trust page of that ICO's profile/account and if there's a negative feedback from a DT1/DT2 it means that project should be avoided. You can also add to search things through googling it for more evidence if the proof provided doesn't satisfy you.

At first check the scam accusation section in this forum. I don't think whitepaper can be a good measure to track a scam project, because many scam projects had a very good whitepaper like Hashcard. Try to research about the team background, have a look in the community activity if you see many users are praising continuously than a question, avoid that ICO, they use a bot to praise them  ;D! Try to read and spend some time in research. You are new, please don't invest in ICOs, learn first what is it and how to know about a scam project. If you want to invest then invest in established coin, I suggest the top 20 coins for invest blindly. Good Luck.

it would be very difficult to determine whether or not a scam is an ico. but there are mechanisms and ways to learn it.
in my opinion, experience is the main thing in every investigation to determine whether it is worth investing in an ico or not. especially you have to look for all information and examine it in its entirety before actually speculating.

It depends also how will the website design attracts an investor.  But i might say even if the ICO pays you but the price is shit. They still label as a scam for me. Because sometimes it has a low chance of overpassing the ICO price by the Market price

do some research about the project and make sure you review the project well so you will earn money not to lose profits.Of the project is attractive there are changes that its good but if its not attractive its npt good.

There are lot and lot of scam projects in this crypto world. And there are bunch of ways for you to know if a project is a scam.
- Check out their bitcointalk thread, some people might be faster than you in knowing if a project is scam. So just check their btt thread and find out.
- Check their website and see if it looks shady.
- Check their Whitepaper with a plagiarism checker to see if their Whitepaper is just a simple copy and paste.
- Check out the team on LinkedIn and see if the profile is real and engaged.
- Check if the team are willing to do a video review or check if they have already done one.

It is difficult to be able to ensure a scam or not an ICO, which surely we must be more careful. To avoid fraud as well as we can, first examine the track record of a team from an ICO, usually we can see after the project has been running for more than one year.

Indeed, now it is very difficult to distinguish a scam or an original. Because usually the scam is of course very exactly the same as the original. Of course before doing anything, you better take a little time to fully analyze how the project is doing ico.

But still if you really want to know if a ico is scam or not the first thing you have to do is read the white paper. It is the main thing in a ico and you have to check it up again and again. You have to read it and understand it how technically it is written. Then you gave to check the website and talk to community and founders. Of you find they are find also then go for how relucent the project is now and will be ain upcoming future that's it. Still sometimes its hard to catch one.

Contact a few members of the team personally, from their tone and attitude you can usually deduce their intent; that would be the first step.

Also look for paid shills, if most noise about a project is being produced by a few "do anything for a few bucks" mentality guys from

third world countries, that's often a cue for you to be very careful...

The best way is to look into the profiles of the team members and check for coherence in information they provide especially pertaining to their credentials. Scam projects are often detected by knowing the actual faces or the team behind the project. Check for the partners of the project and ascertain if the information about partnering with other bodies is true or false.

I do not think that there will be guaranteed services or services in this case, because I see that today there are not even people who could seriously determine how truly projects can not be successful or vice versa.

As long as you join a lot of bounty and ICO, then you will gain a lot of experience to choose ICO in subsequent times. It is difficult to distinguish if you have never invested in those projects

You can't simply find out any project that it is legit or scam just can any tricks and tips because it needs lot of time to find out about the project and their legitimate behaviour towards the investors.
By researching about the project you will give that good Clear View about the project.

because there all the teams and things about the ICO company have been explained.

Checking the background of the ICO is one of the bets way to avoud high scam ICO. But it doesn't mean that you cannot lose money because there is still chances for you to lose money because we really don't know if the ICO that you invested is really legit maybe behind the good information there is not bad purposes of the team which is to run away once the investor invest their money.

the way you always do when you know the ICO is a scam or not is to check the whitepaper, telegram group, website, roadmap, and also their team. also make sure their sales tokens are transparent so that we can find out the investor funds that are obtained. usually when the ICO scams investor money will never be returned.

As I am also new here, what I am trying to do now  is read the post/advises  of old members knowledgeable in this forum.  From them, I learned the following:

1.  Knew the people/team  behind the project,  their credentials and capabilities.
2.  Study the project itself, if  it is relevant in this new era of world development
3.  Be observant, read as much as you can their whitepaper and all other pertinent papers regarding the ICO.
4.  Take time and analyse all the gathered information before deciding to join or invest in an ICO.

Hope that this will help you too.

Most ICOs are scams today. Nowadays no ICO can be trusted. ICO can scam anytime. There is no guarantee that ICO will not scam. So I will tell you not to invest in ICO. Because investing in ICO means to drop your money in water. And ICO is not known to be fake, it is very difficult to know. Even if some things are noticed, ICO is real or fake. It is understood that ICO's white paper is well verified. Many times when looking at the white paper, it is understood that ICO is real.

Thank you

If it were easy to find fraudulent ICO projects, then the problem with fraud in ICO projects would have been solved long ago. However, identifying them is not so easy, and the possibilities in us are limited. And fraudsters invent new ways of fraud. I believe that government regulation of ICO activities will be a reliable way to defeat fraud in ICO projects. Many states are taking certain steps in this direction.

Check the project first, is it a good project or not. Bad project usually have a really simple website, unknown team, copy paste whitepaper.

There are so many scam ico out there, so be careful bro, be wise about your money.

Quite difficult to actually determine. Even Bittrex, such a large stock exchange with a reputation could not recognize the RAID scam. Although everything seems to be on their site is beautiful, a lot of partnerships, team experience and everything seems to be good for the standard ico selection points.

for now there is no sure way to find out whether the ICO is a scam or not because the fraudsters also start cleverly hiding their crimes.
and sometimes ICO is actually not cheating but the team cannot develop the project so the project is scam and such things are very difficult to predict.

You would never know for sure if the ICO is a scam or not. However there are still a few recommendations following which you can minimize the risk of being scammed. Among them is analysis of the current project, you have to carefully examine whitepaper of the project and its roadmap, checking if the roadmap is real to implement. One of the most important things is team analysis as well. It's not so important what the project and its product are than the dev team who is going to make everything happen. Believe me you will see it clearly if the team is suspicious/not real/fraudulent.

No  particular procedure for checking a scam ICO but you have to known certain thing about  the project before investing in any ICO. Part of what you should know are, check their website to know more about their project, go through their white paper, softcap and hardcap, team members, are they offering product and lastly make enquiry about the project from those that have been in cryptocurrency for long.

but that does not mean that ICO can no longer benefit us all, it is only a matter of time and we are just waiting because in the future ICO can experience renewal so that ICO will be better and so that it can invest and many projects might succeed. we can't argue like that because ICO might change and what will happen next we don't know.

Most times it is hard to identify a scam ICOs, as they will look real and serious, but once they get what they are looking for, their true colour will manifest. On the other hand, to common way is, studying their whitepaper to see what makes them worth it and if their idea can be realised. Secondly, their community, the nature of the telegram group etc. The team and also the road map to know where they have really started etc.

The whole team should be checked for real compliance with their profile, activities and previous achievements. The project must have a high-quality technical document (without errors and inaccuracies). And it is desirable to choose a project with an existing product, which is currently attractive for the market.

First of all crypto investments are full of risks so if you are not ready to take some risks then don't try to invest into crypto activities. I can give you all the necessary guidelines that i know but sometimes you just can't stop certain things from happening. I invested in a project called Cryptassist where we had a live video tour of all members of team and where they are based. Almost every community member believed in this project but now nobody knows the stance of this project.

if you want to go ahead  and invest then look at what the project want to achieve and also whether they have the experienced team members to actually achieve it.

well, now there are very many ICOs who try to cover up the fraud and try their best to be able to influence investors so they can be deceived, they certainly won't be easy to stop, they will try in all kinds of ways.

There's virtually no perfect way to detect a scam ICO, but you can check for some signal such as the popularity of the team members and advisors, the social media presence of the project, the level of communication the team has with the community, etc.

Identifying whether an ICO is legit or scam is getting more complicated everyday. Yet, if we are investing our money in something, we should be well aware of where is it going.
The best way to know whether an ICO is scam or not is to identify the person behind it, know their personal experience, their economic and social background and whether they are really an specialist about the project are just pretending to be.

be careful it is very necessary, to be more sure you can look for dtail about it and you can ask the people closest to you who already know in great detail and knowledge.
projects that start well aren't always successful so you have to be careful and not easy to believe and not make decisions easily before you know.

Listen, I think a Mod needs to sticky my reply to the start of Page 1, because the amount of laziness / plagiarism within the replies here is just insane...

Right... Now... What are we dealing with people, Monopoly money??

No? Okay. Let's be serious then.

A legitimate project will list all senior members / advisors on both it's whitepaper and website. This includes names, photos, bios, links to SM accounts.

The most basic first step (which is what is repeated here on every page) - is to actually visit these SM accounts and see if the 'team' are genuine.

They appear to be? Looks can be deceiving. I've seen a Fiat with a BMW e36 body-kit.

Check under the hood.

'Adam McAdamson', the CEO of 'McAdamsonICO' says that he worked for the 'EU Coin Co.' for 4 years as a 'Lead Developer', and attained his Bachelors degree from 'EU University X' in '2010'.

Brilliant. Okay, so, now you contact the 'EU Coin Co.' (email at first if you wish, otherwise cut to the chase and pick up the telephone - it doesn't bite) and you say: "Hi. My name is 'XYZ', I'm calling in regards to 'Adam McAdamson', a gentleman who I believe in 2014 worked for your company - how would I go about receiving a reference, or some sort of supporting evidence of his position and duration with your firm?".

If the reply is positive (can I take an email and have someone in the HR department contact you OR sure, yes he was here we can confirm), then happy days, 'Adam McAdamson' scores a point.

If the reply is "lol hu?" then you can start raising an eyebrow.

Now, sticking with 'Adam', move onto the next reference, 'EU University X'. Give them a call: "Good day, I'm calling in regards to one of your alumni, who graduated in 2010, 'Adam McAdamson'. I'm in search of a reference, or at minimum, confirmation that 'Adam' did indeed attend your university and graduate in 2010?".

If the reply is positive (let me put you through to the Student Management Dep. OR yes, we can confirm 'Adam' did attend and graduate in 2010), then once again the Fonz comes out, eyyyy.

If the reply is "k mmm duno" then the other eyebrow gets raised. No more Rock.

Repeat this process for as many of the listed members whom you feel are required realistically, for this project to become a success. By the end of your emails / calls, the half a braincell that is left functioning will be able to determine whether AS A MINIMUM these people exist and have both the experience and knowledge required to create and maintain what they are suggesting they can (THE ICO).

Once you've done this, why not call them? If they are legit there is probably a phone number. Again for those of you with less wrinkles than me you can email first if you're more comfortable doing so.

Call them and say "Hi. I've seen your website, I've read your whitepaper, I've verified your references. I like the idea. You guys are 100% real right?".

If the person who answers the phone, gives a reply, which is anything other than this, no matter all the good you have just built on them in terms of a case - WALK AWAY:

"Hey. Thanks for calling. Yes we are 100% real. Where are you based? We are in 'XYZ'. The executive board are so busy that they sometimes forget to flush the toilet, but listen, if you are really serious about being a part of this revolution, and supporting the project, and you wish to talk to someone who can provide you with more information, perhaps email, phone, video, or if you are geographically possible to do so, a meeting in person, I can try my best to help arrange this"

That's the reply you want to hear.

Right.... Now. The 'idea'.

I'm not going to throw personal opinions on what is and what isn't a "good project", however you can see for yourself, that > 80% are pretty much trying to raise money to do the same thing.

In terms of if an ICO is a scam, along with the whole data checking of whoever is meant to be leading the project, the idea must be considered thoroughly.

- Is the idea, the concept, a viable one?
- Is it the same as 80% of the others on the market?
- What is the USP?
- Is there a working prototype?
- Is there a product that already exists, funded off the backs of the founders, board, etc, that can be seen functioning?
- Is it a relevant product?
- Is the goal attainable?
- Is the concept going to change the world?

Most scam ICOs have similar signs. Big ambitious plans, almost carbon copied from yet another "we will speed up transaction times with little or no fees and help send from A or B faster and keep track, and yes, and no, the rain is coming".

They tend to use the same generic look, which is a paid template, modified.

There is usually no product, nothing to show the end-user, perhaps a few screenshots (if lucky). Check the SM accounts of those who are involved in high-level. A good SM account will show a history of what has been going on, which projects they have been working on, in what periods of their life, it supports their references... If someone claims to have been building drones for 4 years and has a photo of a drone which they have 3D printed, and engineered from 4 years back, that's a pretty good sign of authenticity.

If they succeed the ICO or not, it doesn't matter, everyone else is doing the same thing. Probably not a great risk. A USP is important.

Choose wisely. Do research. Do real world research. If people are arrogant and don't want to give you the time of day, then don't bother supporting the project. A good team and a good movement will always try and make time and show they are not focused on money.

Hope this helps!!

Just addition into this, mostly fake project offer high rewards and also high returns from investing with them in a short period of time. It is very questionable cause no other investment could give such high percentage, thus we can say that there is something wrong behind this project. They'll probably have a good communication with the investors but later on, they'll gone once the have enough money that have been collected.

Ico who are scam is not easy to find and determine so you need a lot of research to know and if you find a legit ICO that you think maybe it is not 100 percent sure it will become successful or legit because there is still possibility for it to scam the project if the founder and team decide to run our money.

Do research and review about the project ,Don't rely on the opinion of the others rely on your own basis, look for the team bounty team and ico team if its legit,if the project is active make sure it is legit because not all ico projects that active is not legit maybe it is a scam.look also for reference by the experts on ICO.

It's very easy to know whether ICO scams or does not look at its team if it's true and another looks at the background of its team to make sure the project is legit. Another thing to know is that if ico projects are active because most are not active or others stop working so just invest in active.

well, when an ICO is a scam, of course it will be discovered, even from the team, and the project is already visible. however, it is very difficult to distinguish ICOs that are scam or not. we can only find complete information about it so we can find out whether the project is a scam or not.

Many people mistakenly perceive cryptocurrency as easy money. However, it is not. To make money on the crypto market you need knowledge and experience. We need to find a promising project and know when to enter it and when to exit.
I recently found for myself the Sound Money Coin project and it seriously interested me, but I cannot say that I am ready to invest all my savings there. No matter how interesting this project is to me.

This is one of the most commonly yet difficult to answer question on ICOs. ICO industry is full of scams
Quote
In fact, 80% of the ICOs that were conducted in 2017, turned out to be scams and only 8% were able to fully launch.

It all depends on your research, if you do it properly chances are rare of losing your money to a scam ICO. You can find some good ways in above article.

This is a good question, the SEC even had a period of 3-4 months ago made a fake website, which resulted in typical signs of fraud, and what you should pay attention to, I would say that first of all it is a team, how strong the team, what product is launched, in the Internet starnitsy people from the team to make sure that these are real people and not fakes

Now it is very difficult to find quality projects. I think this is due to the overall negative situation in the cryptocurrency market. But despite this, I try to choose projects with a sought-after product.

First of all you need to analyse the whitepaper, because the most scam projects are very likely to write bad whitepapers. Secondly I would check the team members of each project and if there are no active links to the social media, just skip this project.

Well, we agree that the crypto market has the ability to give fantastic returns but finally, all businesses are subject to the same market forces. If an ICO promises unrealistic returns on investments, like “Our coin gives you 1000% return in x months!” you had better watch out. Also try to read and understand the whitrpaper..  And do Lil research about the team if you can.

While ICOs is an ethical way of raising money through “crowdfunding,” the process is obviously fraught with danger if you fail to do your due diligence of the company, its backers, its team, advisors, and its concept. Here are a few signs when an ICO is most probably a scam, first, are promises that are too good to be true, a shallow whitepaper, then check the core team if they're real or fake, also uncapped or unrealistic raise is a red flag and lastly, breathless hype on social media, if an ICO is confident on its product it shouldn't rely on buzz word hype in social media. Talking about these ICOs, great example would be finished and running projects like Stackr and Bitrus.

1. Look at the team, make sure the team is experienced and not suspicious
2. read the whitepaper, see the demonstrated concept
3. Look at tokens and how long ico runs

To find out that the ICO project is a scam or not. We have to check the development team and the CIO. We check whether they are real or not. Then study the white paper and you must join the official telegram account they have. If all checks are in doubt, it's better to look for another project.

To choose a potential ICO, you need to know the following information:
Website: Check how the website is designed? How is introduced.
Headquarters: Check which country ICO, location and information, if you can verify it, the better.
Team: Evaluate the team through the information introduced, check to see if they are actually implementing the project?
Whitepage: This is a documentary file detailing the ICO, the size of development, the way of calling capital, the direction of ICO, especially the products that ICO is developing. (Must read carefully)

There is no specific formula for this but you can analyze the ico on different paramameter. First you can check whether promoter are new one or experienced.second you can analyze how they are active on telegram and other social sites. Third you can analyze whether they work according to whitepaper or not. Fourth whether they are going to list on any good exchange or they create their on platform. If they are on good exchange mean they are good.

As a beginner, we must be able to understand the characteristics of a good ICO and not because it is very important to avoid fraud. Imagine things that we must pay attention to, for example TIM, products, and white paper. I do not guarantee that we will not lose money because investing in ICO is difficult things that sometimes happen unexpectedly, but we can avoid the best we can with care.

so it was possible to say like this a half of year ago or even a year. Now scammers are doing their site / white paper very carefully / picking up a team that even with very good preparation you will not be able to determine in advance that the project is a scam. just now you need not to risk a lot of money

in fact all aspects of the ICO determine that the project is good or bad because there are no certain things that guarantee the success of a project.
Although I think work partners and bounty hunters support the success of a project.
so in my opinion, we don't need to invest in ICO with a very large amount, especially in this condition.

Yes. A lot of them are getting better in what they do lol. Identifying real and fake ICO is now a heavy task for anyone to do these days. I think the number one thing that matters most when trying to know if any ICO is legit or scam is the team. Yep the team behind it tells a lot of about it. So let's assume that an ICO has a Vitalik Butterin as one of the team members, you don't really need to think twice about it right?? But it doesn't just end there cause scammers now invent fake founders and biographies for their project. So, you really need to dig deeper in this to know if they are really what and who they claim to be. Their social media has to prove it.

I've been reading about a lot of scammy ICOs that take people's money and run away. I'm looking to invest in a couple of ICOs but have no way of knowing if they are good or not. Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this without losing any money?
There are lot of things you've got to check in an ICO, and I also like to say that scammers are now pretty good at what they do. Most of them now knows how to cover up pretty good so they won't be noticed. So you gotta be very careful cause I have read a lot of stories about them. Take your time to check everything that you're meant to check and also try to ask questions about the ICO.

There are many way to check ICO projects. Many ICO reviews sites like ICO Bench, ICO Bliss, Track ICO. But i believe that you need to make your own research well, not for 10 minutes or a day. You need to search everthing about the project, every news they have or go to their social media accounts and check them they active? Go projects telegram channel and talk with admins, see they respond quickly and trustfuly.

The easiest way is to read the whitepaper, most scam projects will copy and paste their whitepaper, besides that the roadmap that looks impossible is the easiest way to find out about a scam project or not.

To do this, you need to carry out a whole Analytics, and first of all to study the project itself, what is the idea of the project, and it is very important(I will pay attention to the project team), whether the real people in the picture, and what projects they previously launched!?this will depend on 90% of the project,as people can be stupid fake and it will immediately say that the project is 95% SCAM

whitepaper is the main step in determining ico because we can know the purpose of the project and the product being offered but don't overestimate the whitepaper because now there are so many whitepapers that just copy from the previous project (be careful)
I also advise you to always see the news here Scam Accusations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0)

It's very important to make a background search about an ICO to ensure that you are not wasting time and money on any project which is not worth it. Some folks in the cryptospace are trying to play smart by luring people to invest into ICOs that are not worth a thing and have no working product. It's best to invest into ICOs that have a working product that would actually make use of its tokens at all times hence increasing the value of the tokens when listed on an exchanges.

Make a thorough research about the team members of the project, their whereabouts and their qualifications which guarantees to some level that they have the experience and expertise to actually achieve what they claim to do. This should at least help you to sample good projects from white elephant projects.

I think finding information about ico that is scam or not from the internet is not easy. because most of the ico managers have anchored investors in advance so that investo can contribute funds to the ico. yes, so far, searching for a project that does not scam is difficult and sometimes it does not match our predictions.

I think it is difficult to identify whether the ICO project is a scam. Many projects will try to hide the bad aspects in the early stage of crowdfunding, making people feel undetectable. It is not easy to find out the real situation of the project until the end of crowdfunding.

First of all, check as many reputable sources as possible about this project; if there are few references to it in the media, then this is sufficient reason to think, and continue to check even more carefully.

This is clear enough. Unique and original projects have legitimate teams easily verifiable on social media or Internet, they also have a non plagiarised whitepaper and workable Tokenomics.

In checking good ico or not, first you must check the flow of their project through their whitepaper, then their team must also not a fake it should be real not a dummy only, then they must have a huge community in their project. And having an escrow is an advantage too. Do not be deceive by their promises.

Of course, I understand that today there is a very big problem of communication with the raid by scammers on the market of ico companies. But the fact is that it cannot be considered an output to the production of a security token, which, in turn, require passport data from the investor and the two participants in the cryptocurrency. In my opinion, I was convinced by the result of the analysis that almost all companies that required to provide personal data could not realize themselves, compared to ico companies that developed and attracted participants according to the old version. We need to look for other ways to combat fraud.

You should check a whitelist, video explanation, team, advisors, ratings and social medias. Good ICO's also have a very fast crowdsale and top-exchange listing. But anyway you have to remember that cryptoinvestment always has a risk.

To tell the truth, there is no 100% reliable method to flag the scam projects. But from my experience, I would say that projects originating from countries with strict crypto regulation, such as Japan, South Korea, Germany and Singapore are less likely to be run by scammers. Also, avoid projects in which the promoters are anonymous.

Even countries with strict electronic money regulations cannot guarantee an ico is a scam. I have worked with many developers from Korea and they are only interested in the profit of the token after being listed on the exchange.

Just because a coin drops in price doesn't mean it is a scam.  This is what annoys the hell out of me, projects can legitimately fail because competition is too fierce or there just isn't enough demand for it.  Of course there are the obvious exit scams but those should be categorized differently.

right now a lot of people are panicking when they see the condition of the token prices not in accordance with ICO prices or not as expected, and when you get like that what you need is just waiting until the projects they develop can be implemented and can be used as solutions by many people it will make the price of the token expensive than the previous price.

Shitty tokens and shitty altcoins will die off over time.
It is a toughly truth that investors who invested into poor quality projects have to accept.
It's hard for them to accept their faults and their losses, but they have to do accept sooner or later and take it as lesson for their later investments.

Some of the projects outhere are not scam but a failed developed project with no active team. It hard to say all project as a scam because in these day some of the project has being failed to raise enough money to survived in this bad market. Avoid any fast rich scheme offer by fake team or a bad white paper that only haa being copy paste by other project. Im alway pick one to five project only to join and always to join in their telegram so i can know what are their progress in any time.

Failed projects are not too bad, but it will only become scam projects if they run crowdsale, collect money, and run away, without any developments.
If projects really developed, but months or years later, they failed and bankcrupted, it is acceptable.
It is the same as startup in real life, not mention about crypto startups.
They born, grown, and die, and there are very limited projects that can really matured and become successful years later their start days.

The problem is that some scam ICO are very professional and is quite hard to be identified as scams.

However,  here you jave some key points to take care:
- Whitepaper
- milestones already passed
- team to be verified
- social media activity
- references on other well known sites.

Checking their team IDs, backgrounds, and past history on scam or achivements may help a lot.
Some scammers or scam teams tend to create scam by scam.
So, if you can catch them via their past scam projects, you can avoid falling in their newly trapped scam ones.

First of all you can check the team. How strong and reputed the team is. You can cross-check their profile in the internet so as to ensure that they are not faking anything. You can also view their website and whitepaper. What is their aim and what are their goals. Whether their goals are practical. These things should be taken into consideration.
You can also read ANN of the new project to view what comments have been made about the project. These are the ways I think.

So, if you really think that it is too hard for you to assess quality of ICOs, and not sure that it is scam or not, you should not invest into any ICO.
It will better for you if you wait longer for those ICOs grown and developed some months to verify their quality.
Hurry usually don't help investors to get good returns, instead more risks to lose due to wrong investments into bad projects.

Look at the composition of the team, the idea of the project and the whitepaper. The team should include strong developers. Whitepaper does not contain water. And the idea is either innovative or breakthrough in its field.

I think the best way to know if an ICO is fake or not, is to check if they actually have any team members or developers on their website. The concept of the project is also a good place to start with.

If you have enough knowledge then you can save yourself form scam projects. But sometimes it's still hard to save yourself form a ico scam. First you have to check website and the project. Then you have to read the white paper most of the icons are dead at white paper so those who know how to the k a white paper they have the greater chance. Then you have to check the team and advisory board. But sometimes after checking everything we have to be in a scam ico. So if you don't have knowledge then don't go for a ico but if you have enough knowledge icons can give you a lots of profit.

in some cases ico scam has happened a lot and is none other than the project developer itself. many of them have good goals but are not in accordance with their work map and also a team that is not transparent. my advice before joining the ico project was to be more observant in tracking project clarity and transparent teams.

Check the project from head to toe, start from the site, whether it is well made, then read the white paper, check it for uniqueness, check the composition of the team and their profiles in social networks. If you find any mismatches, write about them on the forum, they will help you.

Investing in ICO does have a big profit. But it also has risks and for that, we must be careful. To find out about fraud projects, we must check the appearance of the website and then check the Team. If after checking the results, it is very doubtful that it is better not to invest.

No project should ever promise you a profit if you invest in their ICO, STO or whatever kind of investment oppertunity.

Invest in projects that display good plans for the future with useful products.

in any case, if you make a choice among all ico companies, then this choice will be very difficult. A lot of projects do not initially have any product and you need to correctly analyze the information in order to get at least some confidence in future prospects.

If you have enough knowledge then you can save yourself form scam projects.
Scammers are so smart and they also have good ability to adapt and change their scam approaches.
So, it's too hard to find all scam projects, from time to time if you simply based on your own knownledge and assessments.
To do that, you should visit other good topics or communities that tend to find scam projects and give away warning alerts.
Personally, I don't invest in ICOs, and it is better to invest into those projects when they actually lively run more than one year.

A lot of people here are fond of saying whitepaper, like that’s the only thing that really matters. This time around scammers can create a really good whitepaper that is unique and will make you think the project is genuine. I’m not trying to say we shouldn’t go through the whitepaper, but you should take your time to go through everything, including the team, so that you don’t waste months investing and working hard and at the end it ends up as nothing.

First thing to do is to scrutinize the entire team of the project to know if they are real or not, to know if they truly have the capacity to run the project or not and to know the level of tueir excitement towards the project. Also weigh the potential application of the project and see if it can be effectively adopted by the masses

It is better to observe the ICO's development first, if we think that the ICO is indeed feasible, then we can decide to invest in the ICO because at the moment there are many ICOs that stop in the middle of the road so we have to wait at least half the ICO period.

Two aspects should observe ICOs are: the developments of projects that run ICOs, as you mentioned; and the movements of prices on exchanges after ICOs ended. If we can see that developments are good or at least acceptable, and price movements show signals of bottom out, we can buy at low price and wait for chances to take profits when development come to product releases.

Checking the social media platforms and reading the whitepaper can guarantee you success in your research to determine, if it is scam or not. I will just advise, anyone not to invest more than  you are willing to loose. Invest wisely. I think the IEO is beginning to gain wave and should be a better option.

There are many ways as others mentioned such as quality of whitepaper, website, authenticity of team, advisors, presence of institutional backing etc. But unfortunately, you'll never truly know until after the ICO is concluded.

You can have an ICO with the best presentation, and still turn out to be a scam. Why?

There are cases of which seemingly legit ICOs with good quality presentation exit without returning investors' fund, simply because they can't raise enough money during ICO. People lose interest in this bear market and the number of ICO investors declines sharply. And unfortunately when these ICO founders are hit by the harsh reality which they weren't prepared due to their plain ignorance and over confidence - very common in the blockchain industry, they change their mind and decide to "recover the loss" and "save their ego" by taking away whatever investor's fund, instead of returning they money and acknowledging their failure and incompetence.

Do a google search "legit ICO turn to exit scam" and you'll find out the unpleasant fact.

Probably the only ICOs giving you more confidence are the ones run by established "conventional" businesses instead of blockchain startups. Even if their ICOs fail, it's more likely they'll return your fund, because they are well established businesses, and so less likely to risk their existing reputation by scamming.

But who knows, even these established businesses may still keep your money - they won't exit, but will come up with some shameless excuses (some of which have been already demonstrated, like "you failed to pass KYC / AML / identity check / xxxx compliance" or "blockchain technical issues"), if they are really desperate in getting profit. Remember even Coinbase (and some other crypto exchanges) have a notorious history of "disappearing" customers' deposits, which saw a surge during the crypto mania in 2017. If this happens, your only hope remains in a class action.

There are some important factors I consider, first is the project itself, the development team, and the community supporting the ICO. It has to be new and improved idea of a project, this has to attract the people and let them see what's in it for them. Secondly, development team should be real and good credentials, it is one of the biggest factor. And lastly, the people that will support the ICO, larger community mean bigger potential.

- I will first see who is involved in the ICO, like who is the Bounty Manager and the authenticity of their Team.
- I will read their Whitepaper, how do they work and whether the profit sharing from ICO makes sense.
- and finally, whether the ICO is listed on ICO recommendation sites such as ICO Bench, Tokenmarket and others.
be diligent in asking and don't be lazy to find out.

One common thing about scam ICOs is that the offer more than they can achieve. Make your own research about the project and its whereabouts considering the team members behind the project. Some individuals can sometimes bring up fake identities of renowned persons as partners of their project but most of the times these are not true but to lure investors into purchasing their tokens.

An ICO whitepaper speak a lot about an ICO but it is quite unfortunate that some white paper are just trash. Advisory and partners of a project also play an important role in very ICO. This can also be avoided by ruling out ICO to IEO.

I think because you are new in forum, also new about ICO, you need someone who expert about ICO, maybe your friend, so can help you to choose the right one, Or just invest in major coins like bitcoin, ethereum and many more. And about how to check scam ICO, maybe this thread can help you https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5110020.0

Scam is real, to be able to determine which that, read and learn thoroughly on the team behind the projects, their whitepaper and social media handles. How the team respond on their social media handles. This for sure will give you a gist into the project. Its takes hard work to do this or else, you will always be scammed.

nowadays it's very difficult to find out. because ico runs as usual, the fixed total stake is calculated at the end of the period and then distribution is also carried out. but it has not yet been launched into the market exchange and also the team sometimes still provides information. this is very difficult to predict ...

Its good to research on the project, social media, or whitepaper but its not enough. Its hard to determine a good ICOs or scam ICOs because the whipaper must be very excellent but i think its depend on the developers team. Right now, ICO have competitor like IEO and to survive, ICOs should offering transparancy and good project with working product

Honestly for now all the fundamentals before investing on ICIS are useless because most of them are scam or fake and other legit ones will get dump hard when listed on exchanges. Better try your luck on binance launchpad because ICOS that are launching there will give you easy profit.

well, being careful when choosing ICO will certainly be a good thing. sometimes some ICOs make existing projects, moreover a weak team. avoid projects like that. although difficult, I think a project scam will leave a trail that makes people think that is a strange thing.

Check for these key factors:

Technology: The technology that the project is pitching is real or some rocket science.
Team: Is the team real or fake, get along chats and hangout to verify it.
Experience: Do they have enough experience in the current sector to make the project a success in a long run?
Fundraising: Often projects with real team and great ideas fail due to no fundraising, so check if they are backed with good wealthy people to fuel up the fundraising?

You must have knowledge about ico first.
if not, you should try to learn and find lots of comparisons of various ico. remember, not all ico will succeed and get success
especially for now, most ico don't have a good idea and potentially the next scam or shitcoin

I looked at various aspects before joining a project or investing.
1. Read whitepaper
2. serach about the project team information
3. find out the project rating
that's a simple things I did before joining a project, but for more details we have to dig more.

This is the most challenging part of any project for investors to find out if any project is scam or legit.
Most of the times we get attracted and inspired by the project idea, it's website, and very large number of community members in telegram.
Now a days every system, idea, concept can be transformed into blockchain technology ecosystem. It's very much possible to design a very good looking website with lot of graphics in it. I have seen there are thousands of boots possible in telegram community.
So if we feel the project is good, we have to get ourselves engaged daily in community discussions. This will keep us updated about project specifically the development part. We also consider at what stage product development is.
If we have technical knowledge (I don't have), GitHub code also can give better idea about project.
One of the thing I have observed that if any product is already existing and through a project they are transitioning to blockchain technology, it's most likely genuine project. For example, Bankera.
There are many other factors which  can be checked to know if any project is good by or not.
Regulations to cryptocurrency and ICOs is permanent solution to it.

I am just reading the whitepaper of a new project and if you have read enough whitepapers, you can determinate a scam project within 5 minutes of reading. In the most cases, team members are just copy pasting things from others.

I've been telling people that it's very difficult to know which ICO is actually scam. Reason being that some projects present very good whitepaper and MVP, yet they have no intention of developing a working product and just do away with funds from token sale. But that is not the case always. The very first thing you should research on is the team, how legitimate and real is the team? Can they achieve the project aim? Do they have project backings? What's the vesting period for their own allocation of coins?

The key is reading in the whitepaper background of the team and the project plans. Read about every detail. You can tell whether it is a scam. Invest in ICOs like NTOK the one i'm campaigning for.
Even the White paper is not a guarantee way to know scam projects some scam projects have a very good White and after the found raising will stop following the road map in the white paper. But intensive research about the team behind the token is what matters and if they really have an ecosystem that will support the coin.

Check out various aspects. Like the Website display, Whitepaper, and Roadmap project. After that you have to check through the social media accounts they have such as Telegram, Facebook and Twitter. If the project is real of course the social media account is still very active.

Unfortunately, there is no way to figure out whether an ICO is definitely a scam. But you should do your own research. At least you can reduce your chances of joining a scam ICO thanks to these investigations. Especially the ones I recommend your research are as follows;

1- Investigate the team members of the project. And I would recommend that you check the old projects which that team members worked.

2- Read the project's whitepaper and check the roadmap.

3- Check the project's ICO raitings on ICO evaluation sites.

4- Read the comments of other investors on the social media about the project. Check the answers by  the project team members which especially to the criticized parts.

5- And my last advice is that, check the other platforms wich the same vision and purpose as the project. In this way, you can get the average value that the token can reach. And in this way, you can calculate your profits in a more logical way. You shouldn't forget that, you should make the comparison with the total market cap of the platform, not the unit price of the token.

There is no specific ways to detect ICO scam, the only thing that can serve as hints to know scam Project is to research well on the projects like checking the team, following the project on social media's and checking if the project really have something reasonable to offer.

To know scam ico you have to do proper research, some team can be deceiving with thier sweet mouth, in this space scammers are too many, i think base on feasibility of white paper whether it's achievable also experience of the team, with that you can at least detect if it's scam or not.

To minimise loss by reducing risk, you will do research even just a little bit. First you have to read the whitepaper if the use case is achievable and not too lofty and second most important thing to do is to do background checks on the team if they are real. The best teams are the ones who are known in crypto.

Now it is better not to invest in ICO projects at all, because at least 70% of them are fraudsters. The remaining projects have few chances to realize your ideas and bring you a profit. They can go to the exchange and then begin the massive sale of their tokens at prices lower than ICO.

There are quite a number of ways to differentiate between good ICOs and bad ICOs. But I personally consider the following
The team: you should do a background check on the team and track them on their different social media platform (especially LinkedIn), if they are not real then they are probably scanners.

The advisors: if they have influential people or personal as their advisor then the project is legit because no influential person wants his/her name dragged in the mud.

The project whitepaper: check the quality of their whitepaper and their website

The idea of the project: check whether the idea is realistic or not. Etc

You should consider different ways of analyzing the project based on your discretion.

Yes, now it is difficult to find quality projects. No matter how you check, it is practically impossible to do. You can check out the team and see the idea. But this does not guarantee that the project will be successful and will bring you profit.

But the knowledge of professionals comes after a life time experience or most of the time these traders and investors spend in the crypto industry. Like Bitcointalk forum there are other multiple platforms as well where these professionals as well as newbies interact with each other and exchange of ideas takes place. ICOs are not scam but all are not safe you have to find good ones if you are good at finding them.

I am agree, many scam ICOs act like legit project and i dont think new investor recognize this. I think the important thing about ICOs is on the project itself. The scam projects are increasingly organized more sophisticated. More than 90% of ICO in 2018 had a bad result. It seriously affects investors and the vitality of the community. Perhaps, it doesn't simply look at the team, the website and telegram or wp. It is better to take the time to monitor and observe them to find gaps from those cowardly, lazy teams.

Firstly, I check out the whitepaper and ask relevant questions in their community. Unfortunately, some badass whitepapers have been put together by money grabbers.
Next, I always pay attention to the team that claims they will bring these ideas to fruition - are they capable? I always look out for teams like that of ECOMI (http://bit.ly/2K0GUby), with a licencing giant such as Alfred Khan.
Again, I try as much as possible to assess how possible bringing their idea is.. I don't like unnecessarily complex projects.
Finally, how useful is the utility they possess and can it be appealing enough for the masses to adopt?

If all these are checked in my books, I go in and HODl long term.

But I believe that this is not the way out and it is best for you to learn how to analyze projects in order to understand what you are investing in.

An ICO is simply a crowdfunding event which uses crypto instead of fiat money.

The same rules that apply to startup funding apply to ICO's.

Is the project good? Is the team good? Do you know the team? Why should you trust the project? Does the product have a market? Is there demand? Can the team really build the product/service?

When you invest in ICO you're simply becoming a partner in a startup. If the startup wouldn't work using fiat money funding, it won't work with crypto ICO either.

Newly evolved ICO or newly launched projects are now difficult to differentiate whether its a scam or not given the fact that they already know what people are looking for in a project. Investing in it also has an assurance that you will end up getting scammed at any times. Just dig and read and if you feel its safe then engage.

My advise is understand first what crypto all about and it work in the market. I hardly recomment to study also the specific project you want to invest. Those scammed people here maybe they lack of review. Mostly review have a good project is through there white paper, project objective, social media's and the people behind if they are legit. that the basic you also comparw others advise.

Hello, friend, these are my thinks.

Find out the team.

1. The most important achievement factor for any ICO or cryptocurrency is probably the developers and the administrative team behind the project.

2. The cryptocurrency space is dominated by major names, with superstar developers like Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin capable of making or breaking new projects simply by having their names listed on a development team.

3. For this reason, false creations and biographies are more numerous than pretexts for their projects.

4. The best protection against this counterfeit strategy is to diligently study a project team member before investing.

5.check the whitepaper. Whitepaper says a lot about an ICO.

6. See the accounts of the group members so that you can gain some respect for them.

this is not a financial advice

if you want to invest / want to buy an altcoin, it's better to buy altcoins that have been registered as an exchange only. so you just wait when it's time to sell the altcoin that you bought again, this is a risk that isn't too big in my opinion than participating in ICO which turns out to be a scam. But if you want to participate in the ICO, please check first, the basic concepts of the project, such as whitepaper, team, and the products offered.

As history showed there are great ICOs that not only give X amount returns but also continue to develop the project after the ICO is finished. However, the problem is that now a lot of companies do an ICO for the sake of getting an investment. Without a clear explanation and accountability to the promises of were the money will be spent or if they will be spent.

However with a deep inhouse research you can unearth some truly interesting and with huge potential projects.  Tho I am leaning now towards projects that do not have any premine, instamine or founder taxes.

However, the question was what are the best ICOs to invest in. I will share the projects that are still in the early stage that  I think are currently at the top of my list (Some are IEO):

BitTorrent
Marconi Protocol
Historia
StarkWare
Oasis Labs

For me I think there is no enough space for ICO now, I joined some events and met a lot of investors and project teams, none of them are intested in ICO, more like STO (Even less IEO now i think)

Yes I agree, I just answer the topic actually. :) Always new ways out per the changes of regulations. Like the HTA mode they did the project last year and they aim to do IEO as well. Seems a popular trend for now.

Well, there is not strait jacket rule to follow in order to detect whether a project is scam or not, however, there are some few checks and tips to include in the research to ascertain a good level of confidence about the authenticity of the project. Firstly, during the research, the investor must look out for the actual profile of the team behind the project. Here, the investor must follow the social media outlets of the team members and come out with accurate information about their data. The data must be coherent and valid as this will help determine the expertise level of the team. Secondly, the investor must look out for the product and its demand level on the market. This part helps the investor to know how serious the project is especially if the project has an already functioning product on the market.

Finding the good ICO is very hard but for me i have my strategy how to know if that ICO is not a scam but sometimes i also victim of scam ICO because it looks like the real ICO by the way you must look at their website, whitepaper, roadmap, the team should have long experience to handle the project.

Honestly it is hard to find out what is the real ICO or scam many of some investors are resting of investing on ICO because lots of scam ICO are scattered here in crypto space, for me i always look at the team background if they have bad reputation and their documents should be complete.

Many things must be checked to ensure that the ICO is an ICO scam or not, first look at the project details through a roadmap, after you read it whether the project is reasonable or not, then look at the team behind it, whether trusted or not

honestly, it's very difficult to know whether the ICO is scam or not. a lot of team profiles and website appearances look promising and can be trusted but in fact we are fooled. whatever advice it will definitely not be effective.

As of my experience, checking linked in profile, facebook and twitter will not going to prove anything, the scam and scammers will going to be able to easily set up their account, its upon their responsibility to manage it by their own, though, what we can do better is to see the community, if it was active and with real members.

at least we can avoid those who have fake teams and models. because it's definitely a scam project. and we can focus more on projects that look promising even though we don't necessarily avoid fraud. isn't it like that we like gambling in choosing projects?

It would do well to remind people also that authenticity of the project does not really say much about the intention to scam or not. If I were a scammer, I'd want to create an authentic project. An actual white paper, an actual blockchain even an actual product that works, etc. The more I give people to see and use, the more they will invest.

It's really important to try and see past the hype and get a sense of the developers and community, if they're real, or if they're just on for the ride.

For now checking between ico is deceptive or not very difficult. because most ico are also not transparent. the easiest thing is checking the team. are they fake or not. this is the first step before going to the others. make sure they are authentic. because scammers usually fake their team.

actually, it is very difficult to know that, because sometimes someone's intentions arrive when funds have been collected. however, sometimes a number of projects also appear to be clearly scam, even more so they promise lots of bonuses, with very easy things. sometimes the team also consists of edited photos. for whatever, we can know that except doing in-depth research.

Today, its very difficult to find legit projects. We have to keep away ourselves from scam projects. At the beginning of any project, it's really difficult to identify if the project is scam or legit.
Many times we get attracted and inspired by the project idea, it's website, and very large number of community members in telegram.
One example I can give here is MultiVAC. I am engaged in this project so much and due to that get updated on their daily development updates, team members information, any events they have and so on.
One of the thing I have observed that if any product is already existing and through a project they are migrating to blockchain technology, it's most likely genuine project. For example, Bankera.
There are many other factors which  can be checked to know if any project is good by or not.
I see a solution to scam projects, Regulations to cryptocurrency and ICOs. Hope the situation will be better in near future.

I'm looking to invest in a couple of ICOs but have no way of knowing if they are good or not. Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this without losing any money?
Currently ICO projects are not reputable and investment will come with 50% risk. means scam rate up to 50%! That is a terrible number. so you should only invest in IEO projects. Those projects are verified by exchanges in terms of prestige as well as potential.
You should buy tokens at exchanges like Okex, BNB, Huobi, Coineal, IDAX. These are reputable exchanges.

What must be seen is of course development, vision, team, transparency. All of that is the beginning of our trust towards a project that conducts ICO. Because, nowadays there are still many ICOs who are scam or not trusted. So from that transparent to investors is very necessary so that trust grows for us to invest in the ico.

First you need to check the whitepaper they have if it is original then their team behind must also true and not fake. See if the usages of their token is attainable and realistic for the community target of the project, then look at the allocation budget for the bounty, if they have an escrow it is an advantage but not necessary needed, however, having a good reputation of the bounty manager is also a advantage too. And most of all they must trustworthy.

There is only one thing to distinguish if the ICO is scam or not by reviewing its platsform. that looks good isn't necessarily good so it's hard to know Scam or not.
sometimes we have run uh it turns out the project is a scam, it might happen often.
Until now, I did not understand how to find out if the project was fraudulent. a project that is good or impossible we can understand by reading the project's vision and mission or can know who the team is whether the team can develop well or not.

To check the ICO scam or not it is necessary to carefully examine all available information about the project and its development team. Read reviews from experts and other people. See reviews of rating sites. And only after that make a decision on investing. However, remember that there will not be a 100% guarantee that the project will not be scammers.

First thing to do was to check and review all the details about their project like how they run it, also look for its whitepaper if its really seems to be true. Because this time, scammers are everywhere in the cryptomarket just to tricks investors. So, just a tip for everyone only trust a project that has a good whitepapers and also a project which offers a good and true investment like the ETH BTC and also the dencoin which we can be trusted to be part of.

Nowadays, by simply fact that we discuss about an ICO and not an IEO it's a trigger that the project might be a scam.

Most of good projects will choose IEO as they are much reliable and  investors know from the beginning on which exchange the project will be listed.

I would try to add - you need to check the real accounts of developers in social networks and linkedin - so that they were and were not created for the ICO, but at least a year before.
As a rule, people risk about their real name and dont want to make clean scam projects with a clear link to themselves

But at the beginning of the project you will need to qualify a lot about those projects. team member at the first think, second project development, (telegram, social media activity support), Whitepapper proof, web register everything you need check before your investment.

If you are a really investor of ICO you should know how to do proper research about the new release ICO project. Me as a small time investor I am going to see first the white paper and then if I see anything suspicious or any copy paste from other white paper then I automatically leave that ICO.
Try also the image finder on google and try to put the photo of the CEO of that said ICO and then if that photo comes out in the result then for sure it is just copy of the photo on google, not their real identity.

It does not save from fraud by 100%.Many fraudsters are very careful about the preparation of ICO.They behave like a legal team, and you will not even have a hint that this is fraud. So there will never be a full guarantee.

First and foremost, investing in an ICO is a great risk because you don't know the person at the other end that is posing to be what he/she is not. Internet is very easy to tell lies. Therefore, no matter the degree of ones research about an ICO, it still doesn't guarantee the legitimacy of such ICO. In a nutshell, anyone that is participating in an ICO should have it at the back of his/her mind that it is a 50/50 affair.

in order to find out the project is fraudulent or not.  for this you need to carefully study the documentation and analyze the project itself.  Then decide whether the product of your investment is worth it or not.

Hey guys, I'm new to the whole ICO world, and BTCtalk as well. I've been reading about a lot of scammy ICOs that take people's money and run away. I'm looking to invest in a couple of ICOs but have no way of knowing if they are good or not. Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this without losing any money?

like this this type of question has been very frequently asked by people before you ... regarding how to know the ICO scam or not ... but the way that I often use is paying attention to the website and roadmap and the supporting media they have is real or not ... and finally I will pay attention to the CEO and Founder media accounts that are genuine or fake ... so it's just like that I often do ... even though many ICOs I follow often experience delays during the distribution process

These scammers are very skilled and have found out that we have known their old tricks so they keep changing the tricks all the time. But there is one thing that doesn't change, the whitepqaper that doesn't look well organized and has spelling mistakes is an indication of a scam project.

You need to do research about the project and you can also check the ICO ratings and of it already raised funds,But now all icos actually almost the same of its not a scam maybe it will not be profitable at all but i have the project that has the solutions in dump and this project is proven and tested that is legit and be profitable also this is the dencoin And now if you dont have any Dencoin tokens you can still buy in the ICO of Dencoin now and get the chance to have a potential coins.

For now I will recommend IEO or STO to newbie investors due to the mode in which ICO operators raked in much money from investors with majority of them failing to materialized. At least with IEO and STO you are guaranteed with a backing of your token on an asset or assured of enlisting on exchange. However if you still need to check on ICOs then make sure the team are verified members of a popular social media sites like linkedin or twitter, in that case they can't put their reputation online by scamming people. Also look at the concept of the project and find out of its lightpaper if you can grasped the project visibility without any technical lense.

talking about ICO actually now more ICO which indeed they fail in terms of funding and not fail because of scam. if you are an investor ico and hesitant to buy at the time of ico you should buy when the fund has reached a soft cap or you choose IEO but if you only a bounty hunter then you should already know the answer

no one knows exactly which project is genuine or fraud because almost all ICO projects look good and convincing to follow. but at least before you join in you can browse first and make sure that they are transparent and if there are strange things it's better to look for another project.

It is necessary to study the idea of the project and understand whether it will be in demand. Also check on the authenticity of the members of the development team. As it turned out, fake identity fraudsters is the most difficult.

no one knows for sure whether it's an original ico or a scam, they're very smart and very similar to the original ico. if you are worried about the problem of ico scam, you can choose to participate in the IEO.

Fake team usually can found out by other people. Actually i glad join this forum because people in here can help others when they find that some project is not good. With or without any proven sometimes.

yes it is useful for this forum site, many of us care about scam project information or not. the most important thing is that we don't have to rely entirely on other people's words, keep doing research from ourselves too. always be aware of the tracks of the RedTrust Team.

Personally, the only way you can ascertain if a project is scam or not is too do an in-depth research on the project. That way you get to know more about the project and determine if the project is worthy of investment

Fraudsters will always try to attract investors with their real concept and appearance. Deep research is required to determine the authenticity of their identity. The IEO does not guarantee absolute success in investment and needs research for the potential growth of projects in the future.
