Title: Check your risers, miners... Post by: dragonmike on February 21, 2018, 11:46:09 AM As always, one of my rigs started to act up whilst I was on holiday. One GPU would start showing 511C errors, crash the miner and the rig within a few sec. Seeing that this couldn't be fixed remotely I cut the power to that rig completely using the tp-link smart plug app and decided to address it when I got back.

Sometimes, these was caused by over-bending the connector resulting in stretched ends, equals high resistance between the wires and the metal contacts. The other wires look like heated by something thin, those aligned melted or scarred ring-like marks seems like bent around a metal edge for a while. Title: Re: Check your risers, miners... They tend to be cheap and dangerous.

Those are like mine but I use the 6 pin to SATA adapter and SATA cable that came with my EVGA PSU. You're saying I should use a 6 pin to 6 pin cable instead? Dumb question, but which port would be used to make this connection? PERF, SATA, VGA or CPU? If VGA then I wouldn't have the ports to do it anyways. Title: Re: Check your risers, miners... My risers have a 6 pin port, sata port, and a 4 pin port. I just used the 6 pin out of the back. I also use the 6 pin to sata since thats what came with the riser, so I guessed that is how it was meant to be used. Title: Re: Check your risers, miners... My risers came with adapter cables for sata, and I was using them, and wondering if they would really be sufficient. |
